Awesome listen as always! Even I was surprised at how quickly the deal for Hamilton got done. It looks like you're settling great into Cologne but there'll always be a Phil shaped hole in Helsinki :(

A hole to phil, as it were? ;)

Thanks for the listen!!

I can honestly say though, with this league and others, that giving almost the same amount of TPE to welfare as you get for doing a PT ad being active is one of many reasons I have considered not making another player after Podarok. So this welfare argument does have a point

Ah but remember... those getting close to the PT-worthy TPE have already created successful players and poured a lot of hard work into the site! Like David and I said.. if enough needs to be immediately changed, it should be the rules of the welfare/pension plan that does not include the current player.

If that's how the league goes then there's nothing I can do, I just know that at least for me there's very little incentive for me to keep posting in these forums and work to hit the 9 TPE cap. Welfare isn't the only reason for this, but it's definitely a part of it. I have work, school, and a social life, I'm giving up sleep to make the PT I'm working on now but most likely no one will comment about it and someone else is getting 2/3 of the TPE by just typing their player name

Just a bit short-sighted of an opinion. Everyone who is eligible to claim welfare has gone through the same pains as you.

Very little incentive? This league is only intrinsically rewarding. The incentive for earning TPE comes from being able to create the best player you can make, in turn satisfying your goals and ambitions that you set for your player. Don't worry about what other people are doing. Focus on only what you can control.

Just forget I said anything, I'm done bringing things up with the BOG

Stand up for what you believe in. Don't be afraid to argue your point.

We've made PT's easier for new members. You can now do the bare minimum and get an automatic 6. Beforehand you could throw hours into a PT and not even be sure of 6. Sometimes you would be graded a 5.

We are trying to help first gens have an easier time and get up to speed a little more easily. Perhaps we aren't doing enough. I really don't think welfare is the issue, though.

I've argued my point plenty of times and most of the time it's met with some sort of disparaging comment about me. The last suggestion I put up Victor just said I was stupid. He was probably just joking, but it gets annoying when basically everything you bring up is met with negativity and sometimes personal attacks from leadership. I'm a VHLM GM and when I started here I would hear a ton about how no one cared about the VHLM, which actually does upset me. I'm a VHL Mag writer and the last comment I had about my article was Higgins making fun of my writing skills. Once again, he's probably just joking, but it's just annoying that I put lots of work in and no one really gives a shit. The truth is that I have also had a lot of work to do and posting PTs and stuff has gotten harder and harder. So it is just annoying that I put in a lot of work but don't really get much out of it. On top of that, I just don't have a positive experience with this site anymore. Before I was excited about it, but now it just seems like a chore and I can't remember the ast positive exchange I had on here.

Sorry, This is kindof disorganized, and has little to do with the topic at hand, and some of these things is just a rant about my personal experience I've had on my mind a while so not much anyone can do about that. it's just late and I don't feel the best atm. It's a combination of things that have made me not want to stay on the VHL, this is just one of them. I guess the reason I'm not a huge fan of the welfare is just that, like I said, I put a lot of work into this stuff, and sacrifice some real world things for the VHL and other sim leagues. So to see other people post in a thread and get 4 TPE is a little annoying for me personally. And I get that the current Welfare/Pension plan only gives that 4 TPE to people that have made successful players before, but A) I've seen a lot of players on here who I haven't seen post on the boards in my 2 1/2 seasons that are at 400 TPE, so I'm not sure how hard it is to get to that. I mean ive had 2 1/2 season and my guy is already at 313. B) it just seems weird for me. I mean I like doing PTs, they're a lot of work and are a chore to make but I do enjoy them. And my reward for doing all of this work is to be given an upgrade so I don't have to do that. Idk, it just seems odd to me. Anyway it seems like the majority of people(on the VHL at least) like the current pension plan so I guess it's for the best of the league

Feedback:

- That DT rant...what the hell?

- All I really ever buy in the Player Store is Doubles/Triples Predictions, or PT Upgrade to 7. Just to avoid myself writing a VHL.com. I've bought the mag article before, but only really because I had leftover money.

- Yeah, welfare guys are likely never going to switch over to full PT's because they earn less from Welfare.

- Much of that BoG discussion I wasn't much a part in. I actually fully blame the LR's at the top....I keep forgetting to scroll to the bottom for BoG now because LR isn't there. ...

- I'm like you, Phil. I don't give any shits about the welfare discussions. I earn my TPE either way.

- There's definitely that contributing to the league argument. I mean, after I'm done with Parechkin....I could basically create my next guy and only ever do welfare...plus my Head PT job, VHL.com article, and maybe VHL Trivia. So I'd get 7-8 TPE a week for not doing a whole lot.

- My articles are among the "trash" ones on the site.

- I think it's a hard argument to argue for or against. I think there's always going to be people heavily in favour for both sides.

- You fucked my predictions. I picked Helsinki as a finalist..I think. That's done.

Most of the time my articles don't get any comments. That's basically how it's always been for me. You have to stir up the league or be a higher up member to get any kind of response here a lot of the time. I fully understand your arguments.

Don't leave.

ADwyer, of course I was joking. To be honest, from your thread title and how it started it seemed like a jokey suggestion which I clearly misinterpreted.

http://www.vhlforum.com/index.php?/topic/30345-just-call-me-henry-motherfucking-clay/

I was kind of surprised by your response tbh but I suppose it makes sense in context if you think everyone has been piling up criticism. That's not the case of course, its just most members' mannerism here really. Everyone's work is probably underappreciated but it is appreciated. I think you'd be among the top ranked VHLM GMs if you asked anyone.

I mean, your early VHLM articles in the mag probably got more praise than any of my articles ever. But you can't expect the same reaction every time - when people say great mag edition they aren't ignoring your contribution.

No need to apologize my man, it's important everyone's voice is heard.

I am arguably at the forefront of the "No One Cares About the VHLM" movement. Even when I was league commissioner I would make that joke. However, the reality is that the VHLM is the first league a new recruit to our website will experience. It's imperative that their experience in the VHLM be a positive one so that they will continue their journey onto the VHL and hopefully stick around for good. Granted, everyone wants to be in the VHL because that's where cups are won - but there's no denying the importance of the VHLM.

I still believe that first-gens have a real tough time in the VHL. Perhaps something more can be done to reward activity? Say, a TPE bonus every season for submitting x number of point tasks. @Draper @Higgins @Victor @sterling
