In a decision brewing for several weeks, Quebec City Meute goaltender and S49 Shaw Trophy winner-elect used the downtime after the Game 5 loss to Toronto to announce his intention to test free agency after S50 to his locker room. Today, this decision has been made public.

"This agency has never tested free agency in the VHL before and this was expected to stay the same as I had plans to spend the rest of my career in Helsinki. However, I was placed in a position where I essentially either needed to become GM of Helsinki or be traded to Quebec, neither of which particularly appealed to me although Quebec was definitely the easier option.

"The first season has certainly exceeded expectations and has been hugely successful on a personal and team level. We are all hoping to build on this in S50, however at that point it is very possible that this collaboration between Greg Clegane and the Meute will come to an end. I feel no loyalty to Quebec and although the locker room has been enjoyable this seems to be the perfect opportunity to finally become a free agent which I will do at the conclusion of my contract at the end of S50.

"No negotiations in regards to extending the current contract will be entered until free agency, although it is possible that I will stay in Quebec in S51: however this will be decided after assessing all options in the market, however numerous.

"In the meantime it has come to my attention that most of this quote was completely out of character so I will go smash some peasants' heads in and/or do my cool zombie glare through the helmet. See you next off-season!"
