7 THINGS TO WATCH FOR IN THE S50 WORLD CUP

1. Europe Looks to Keep Their Medal Streak Alive

Team Europe has by far the longest active medal streak with 5 straight, winning 2 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze in that span. Europe will be looking to keep this going, with a roster very similar to last year. The question is, will they be able to improve after substituting Von Karma and Strauss for Ravenwing and Blacker?

2. Lots of Youth for World, USA, Canada

These three teams haven't shied away from bringing on the youth movement to the tournament. Team World has 6 players drafted S47 or later, including the youngest player in World Cup competition. 2/3 of Team USA's roster wasn't there last year, but will be looking for third year vet Sir William Covington III to lead them. Team Canada has been turning it around lately, ending a three year drought with a bronze, but the scary thought is that the team is still very young, with 8 players drafted S47 or later, a very scary thought.

3. The Fiercest Line in the World Cup

Scandinavia's top forward line, being branded the Viking line, combined for 111 goals, 147 assists, and 329 hits. Filled with three players who can all make big plays with and without the puck, this group is going to be one to watch, especially as Max Mølholt looks to redeem himself after last season.

4. Higgins Looks to Complete His Collection

In his first ever appearance as the World Cup GM, Higgins led Team Canada to a silver medal. Last year, he led them to a bronze medal. Higgins only has one more medal to complete his collection, a gold medal. Will his team be able to get it this year? It might not be as farfetched as you think.

5. Sandro Clegane Leading Mercs Once Again

Sandro Clegane is entering his third straight season starting for the Mercs, and he is looking for another medal to add to his collection. His team has a little bit more forward power, and a little bit less defensive power, but the key will be how much better Clegane has gotten since that OT loss to Scandinavia. He could bring this team back to the podium.

6. Players Making Their First Appearance

Team USA - Diana Maxwell, Travis Gowecny, Shayne Gow, Chuck Goody, Apollo Skye, Ryan Price, Zach Voss

Team Canada - Jim Lahey, Rhett DeGrath

Team Mercenaries - Dmitri Dadonov, Jace Hines, Jory Rose, Maxime Perron, Giovanni Reuel, Asher Donovan, Nikki Kissanen

Team Europe - Essian Ravenwing, Sean Blacker, Elijah Dotran, Max van Hohenzollern, Phil Shankley

Team Scandinavia - Thor Odinsson, Tobias Klingberg, Filip Lundqvist

Team World - Bobby Digital, Wesley Babiy, Lucas Zhukenov, Conrad Jenkins

7. Players Making Their Last Appearance

Team USA - Chuck Goody

Team Canada - Bronson Faux

Team Mercenaries - Pablo Escabar, Thomas Duddy, Maxime Perron, Giovanni Reuel(Possibly Sandro Clegane)

Team Europe - Hans Wingate, Thaddeus Humbert(Possibly Phil Hamilton, Greg Clegane)

Team Scandinavia - Golden Jedtssen, Kerko Hyvarinen(Possibly Aleksi Koponen, Max Mølholt, Marquis Hyvarinen)

Team World - Theo Matsikas(Possibly Ariel Weinstein, Biggu Kyanon, Wesley Babiy)
