A new MVP or more of the same?

Cornerstone 4 MVP?

The MVP race is a little more open this year then it was last year. It was pretty much set in stone other then a little debate about personality last season. This year however we have multiple candidates at different positions.

First of all Gabriel McAllister has 93 points in 59 games and has been the driver of offense for the returning champion Seattle Bears. He has 47 goals and 46 assists and 211 hits. He is without question his teams MVP so far this year and has finally fulfilled on his promise, maybe just in time for the Bears to get a significant return on him in trade talks if they do rebuild. The next highest point scorer is Mattias Forsberg for the Bears who only has 82 points which is obviously still good but shows how may be the front runner for the award right now.

Second for me has to be the MVP from last year Franchise Cornerstone. He has 86 points including 44 goals yet again leading his team. The stat that stands out though is the insane number of hits he has. 320 hits is the leagues best especially significant among good players. He is a power forward who outright dominates players and gets his team control of the puck. He is nearing retirement but still has one last run left in him, clearly. His teammate Marc Alexandre Leblanc has 84 points but many suggest he is benefiting from playing with a all time talent.

I have to shout out a couple of defenders like Ay Ay Ron who is having another hall of fame type season. Leads defensean in points and is a physical force as well. Another name is Colton Rayne who himself has been leading the Americans from behind and his development could be key in the playoffs this season. Otherwise the league is pretty behind in terms of defeneman and with some veteran guys like Pablo retiring soon, it is looking like the league is going to need a big influx of defenders.

While no defenseman may have a real case for the award a former dman might just. Felix Savard has 48 assist in 59 games and has 87 total point. He has been a great addition to the Americans since coming over from the Dynamo last season. Another New York player is Bo Boeser who came over from Toronto. He is looking to grow in to an elite player and has an amazing 56 assists so far this season.

When it comes to goaltending, Markus King is the only real MVP candidate for me. He has 32 wins and 14 losses but his actual individual stats are far ahead of the rest. a .929 save percentage and a 1.94 goals against puts him tops among full time starting goalies. I think he likely will not win it because the league seems perverse for giving the award to goalies but he has a strong a case as any. For me? The MVP is probably Cornerstone again. His hit totals are insane and it helps his already good team get better by having more possession of the puck. It will be interesting to see if voter fatigue does set in though.

Cool, cool. So just to make sure I got this down, McAllister beating Cornerstone in G, A, P, +/-, shot percentage, P/20, GWG, difference in scoring from teammates - literally everything relevant other than hits. Cornerstone beats McAllister in hits, where McAllister is still in the league's top ten. QED:

I got Sebastian Ironside coming into the league next season, although he's Toronto property, but still it's a good defenseman coming in.

@pennypenny's Malenko will be drafted in the off-season, but likely won't enter the VHL until S62 I think? But he's very promising that's likely another good defenseman for the VHL.

There's a couple other D in this upcoming draft who are active, like @Tim's guy.

McAllister is an easy vote. No one is here anymore to lobby for Cornerstone.

Speak for yourself!

Cornerstone is hands down the greatest player of his generation. Don't be jealous.
