So I tried to help out..

Apparently I'm a huge prick

Convo between me and Coach D, which now stands for Dick

What are your concerns with the league?

default_thumb.png
None. Just pointing things out around here. I know sims so it doesn't bother me. I understand when I came in and to wait. But others may not. Also, I know little about hockey and less about the league so I am not sure how to differentiate what is VHL and VHLM.
photo-50.jpg
Well the VHLM is the minor system to the VHL. When you first come in (if it's during the season) you would have been claimed by a VHLM season for the duration and then placed into the VHLM Draft. Now that you've joined at this juncture, you are just waiting on the VHLM Draft, which is supposed to take place this week.
default_thumb.png
Well I am a prospect but not playing in the prospect game. That is perplexing.
photo-50.jpg
You will spend a season or so in the VHLM, where you can develop and earn TPE for the VHL Draft. After the VHL Draft in S38, if you have done all the work needed, at your GM's discretion, you would either be optioned back to the VHLM or make a VHL roster
The Prospect Game is only for those in the S37 Draft. You and I are in the S38, so we will be in the next one
default_thumb.png
There are some S38 players in it. Advice for league... get a 2nd game for these guys sitting around doing nothing. Especially someone who came in at a point where I did.
default_thumb.png
I been in players sims 10+ years and know well over a dozen people in here. Sitting around a week doesn't bother me. Imagine if I was new to sims and this one. Hard to imagine I would have stuck around.
photo-50.jpg
I think the reason there are S38's in the Prospect Game is because there aren't enough quality S37's. We really encourage new members to ask all the questions they need to.
I don't run things, but I've been around here since the beginning (5 years+), so I am willing to try and explain things as best as I can.
default_thumb.png
My only question is what am I waiting on? When will I be drafted? When will games start after that?
photo-50.jpg
I agree things aren't perfect here, but I think once we get through that infancy stage, you will be happy with the way things are done.
default_thumb.png
All I was really told is about TPE. LOL. I know about TPE, just need the days each week runs and I'll handle the rest.
photo-50.jpg
a Point task week runs from Monday-Sunday, the VHL Draft should take place Thursday and the VHLM Draft not long after and the games will commence with pre-season not much longer after that. There is a time period between the Drafts and the pre-season for free agency and contracts to be signed.
default_thumb.png
See. Thus my issue. I check daily.. not much on weekends though.. and have no clue when things pertaining to me will occur. And it doesn't appear anyone else does.
default_thumb.png
Yeah. I don't see much VHLM except something I am not in.
photo-50.jpg
the VHLM Draft is usually a TBD thing, so they don't necessarily outline when it's going to be. It depends on if they can get all the GM's on at the same time, but it usually is the day of or the day after the VHLM Draft
VHL Draft*
default_thumb.png
So don't expect anything for another 5 days or so?
photo-50.jpg
Thursday is 2 days away and then the VHLM Draft should be an additional day or so.
photo-50.jpg
I just asked and Sunday appears to be the VHLM Draft day
6 ET
photo-50.jpg
If you are bored you should have done a Media Spot instead of claiming Pension/Welfare. You would have earned 12 TPE (first 3 PT's are doubled) instead of 2 TPE
I guess the 12 still applies for the first 3, but still
default_thumb.png
Hard to write about something you are not apart of. I coach/scout basketball. This time of the year is extremely busy.
photo-50.jpg
Oh okay. Well for future point tasks, if you aren't the most educated on hockey, you are certainly welcome to ask anything and I would be more than happy to give you assistance where needed.
default_thumb.png
Will see. I am trying out this sim and another. I am in a team sim and a player sim that I am committing to. Wouldn't mind adding a 3rd. It is between this and a baseball one I think will die at the moment.
So I may stay here by default. Otherwise, who knows.
default_thumb.png
It hasn't been a great start in the league. It appears it is filled with members who are re-creating. Hard for a new guy to come in, even if I know a good bit of people here.
photo-50.jpg
I know it's tough to sit and wait, especially for a new guy. I strongly believe once the draft approaches, you will find enjoyment with things. It's just having patience with the process
default_thumb.png
You recreated and got 75 TPE from carryover. Almost impossible for someone like myself to compete with your player. Which to me, makes the VHLM extremely unfair to new players.
photo-50.jpg
All new members have those concerns with re-creating players. At one point in time, those re-creates were in the same boat as you. As long as you stick with it and trust me, you will thrive.
photo-50.jpg
VHLM players get a VHLM bonus at the end of the season (up to 20 TPE) first 3 PT's are doubled, plus VHLM Practice Facility, which is an additional 10-14 TPE possibly. Like I said, every at some point was the new guy, but they stuck through it and worked hard for success, and then re-created and benefited from the hard work. Because you are the new guy, you kind of have to go through the process and pay your due's, but I promise you that it all works out in the end. I ended up with 75 TPE because I had 1,134 TPE from my previous player. If you make the most out of every TPE opportunity, you can close the gap to where it's a bit more confortable. Having a job helps and getting involved in Yahoo Fantasy Leagues are also great ways. Like I said, take the opportunity to lean on me for assistance if you require.
default_thumb.png
I have someone who isn't as much of a prick as you've been so far. Don't like your tone at all.
If you would have check that thread. I already joined.
photo-50.jpg
Okay then

I don't really know where his angle is. It's the one week in our schedule were it's sort of limbo. He joined 2 days ago and hasn't done a PT, it's not like he is totally interested from the start. Maybe it's just me but he sounds like he is screaming for help but when help comes he pushed it away.

There are plenty of things to keep a guy active within his first week if they at least give us the time of day to tell them. Not to mention a Draftee can have 49 TPE within 3 weeks here! (NEW VHLM TC, 3 Doubles PT, 3 Practice facilities)

What, does he expect members to not re-create?

Yes, because we all have to agree on a time that works for most of the GMs. I don't think that's unreasonable to ask for.

You can still write about your player, which is something a lot of people do.

  And I'm guessing you were amazing at basketball the first time you played.

I'm not sure, the mood turned quicker than a Coldplay concert.

You're a prick and I don't like the tone in your keyboard typing, so stop it because I didn't get enough hugs as a kid

Oh well, hopefully the next new member will be more responsive to my help.

Yeah, the only thing that I could really see in terms of tone that he may have taken poorly would be the "If you were bored" bit, like maybe that could have been worded a bit better, but the points you made in that same statement were valid so I'm not sure why he's taken that the wrong way.

Also, maybe it's different people reacting to the same situations differently, but I see people having 75 TPE as extra motivation to press on and attempt to overtake those guys. Like in my draft, me and Turner both entered it with zero TPE whereas Scotty had 75 off the bat, Come draft day, Turner had overtaken Scotty and I ended up only 3 points behind Scotty. I think that shows so long as your willing to put the work in, the early margins aren't that big a deal.

you can compete coach. these recreates get lazy and then you surpass them. I'm the living proof :)

It is all good. The guy just kept pushing and trying to avoid my real concerns. Quite annoying. Never went to him, never asked him for a damn thing til he came to me. I don't know him any more than any other random shithead on the internet. My concerns are still the same. Still not a damn one answered either...

Where on the schedule does it say ONE thing that pertains to my player? Due to that, I've sat around a week. Would have already wrote something if there was something to write about. Nothing has occurred not to mention I've been in a different gym every night past week and will be throughout the rest of the week. Thus me taking the welfare which was put into place for that very reason.

Yeah it's never a bad idea to welfare it if article concepts just aren't coming to you. Once you're drafted, it'll be easier.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm on the baseball league too. Lasse Viren Jr, of London, username RunnerOfSteel. I agree it's probably going to die, but until then it's a fun little diversion. This place is forever though.

There is ALWAYS something to write about. Shit, I've written articles for leagues before with the following topics:

A player was arrested for drunken misconduct at a Nickelback concert

A player was accidentally locked in a box and shipped away on a cargo ship

A player went to Blockbuster with a reporter recommending movies to him

A player suffering from constipation

A player being imprisoned inside an opposing team's locker room for a month

A player being denied entry to a flight by a fan of the opposing team

I think I've made my point clear. Use your imagination and you will find a topic.

And to Dooms credit, never a dull story. You can create something out of nothing as long as it involves your player. Hell tell us about your player and his background in the game or how he came about playing

I loled, that turned so aggressive so fast it's like having a conversation with me.  Like I said in my Fan 590 there is always stuff to write about like that but I don't find that stuff as interesting, however whenever I make a brand new player I always have a ton of stuff to write about to introduce him and his personality to the league. That's just me everyone is different obviously and if you're busy, you're busy because you know rl is almost as important as sim leagues, but if you actually want to write something and just can't find a topic just ask someone like Kendrick or Slobo or d_a (actually a lot of guys on the mag have ideas but can't use them because they're on the mag so sometimes they're the best to ask) but not Jardy because he is weird.  You could write about how it's not fair that recreates get carry over if that really bothers you.  Anything really, you could do a mock draft or write about how the VHLM GMs all went out partying too hard and got arrested and that's why the draft is so far away.  There are like infinite possibilities.

He did answer your question if you paid attention to it. Your player will be drafted in the VHLM Draft on Sunday. The season will begin on Sunday or Monday as per the schedule. Your player will be in the VHLM for that season. Then, every day, Jardy (who is our simmer) will sim a few days of the season in which the games get simmed. You'll be on the roster, and your player will play on whatever team you get drafted to. You'll get added into a team locker room, you'll have teammates (most likely) to chat with and talk about. You'll be able to get tips on building your player, figure out what direction you want to go when adding attributes to your player and so forth.

Even if you don't know much about hockey, you can still make a solid player.  I'm not a big Football or Basketball fan and I still made decent players in the SSN/SSN2/VFL.  If you're ever stuck for an idea, just ask someone for a tip.  We've had articles about Riga players saving Giraffes that have gotten 6/6s here.

To be completely honest, CoachD probably joined at the worst time possible for a new guy. I can totally see where he's coming from. I think this is a huge misunderstanding, because I've talked to CoachD before on another sim and he's not a dick.

I think he joined in a very small window where it would be really hard for a new eager member to get a handle on things. Usually new members take like 5 days before they start paying attention to the level of CoachD (Not an excuse for this, just an explanation as to why this is prob one of the first times we've seen this)..
