"Off-season Part 2"

 

This is a segment where ECN looks at last weeks interesting trades, signings and moments in general that happened in VHL and VHLM. As always - hosted by Frostbeard Entertainment!

 

1. Trades

VHL has been truly on fire when it comes to trades as many prominent and very good players have been traded and have found a new home. We chose 2 trades that we believe will make a big difference for their respective teams - first off - Toronto trading Robert Malenko and 3 S68 Picks for New York's Ryan Sullivan Jr and Vaydar Odinsson. Malenko being one of the best defencemen in VHL will surely help Americans and two great forwards that both can put up 60 points easily will be a great addition to Toronto Legion. Second trade, we believed will have a huge impact on S66 is Riga Reign trading Ryuu Crimson and Shawn Glade to HC Davos in return for Caiden Saint, Connor McDavid and 2 First Round picks from S66 Entry draft. Riga Reign is 100% thinking about their future with this trade and allowing themselves to be in a great position for many seasons. HC Davos has been showing that they no longer want to be on the bottom of the league so their moves to acquire many great players should be rewarded with a deep playoff run.

2. Signings

Very interesting that VHLM's most prominent Free-agent this off-season Kyle Sabertooth will be joining Philadelphia Reapers. That was an interesting situation as Philly will not only get an amazing player but a great community member as well. If we look at the situation in VHLM currently, you can clearly see that Reapers have aligned themselves to be in a strong position this season and be one of the main contenders for Founder's Cup!

3. VHLM Draft

As VHLM draft was a first for 3 expansion teams it is worth to talk about the fact that many teams gained great talent. Draft featured many great players as the draft went to 8 rounds and you could see 100 TPE players be taken at the start of the 3rd round. With so stacked first round, everybody who had a pick there was guaranteed to get a player of amazing quality and talent no matter they had 1st Overall or 8th Overall. Probably the most interesting situation happened in Round 8 when most teams selected players that are not eligible to play in VHLM. It was an interesting moment as it showed that long draft has to have some humour into them as well.
