The Rookies from NY

Since @Esso2264, the new GM of the New York Americans, stepped in. He completely blew the team apart for a bright future in this city. Of course as everyone knows, the previous GM already tried to blew it up, but it didn't work successfully. As the result, NY fans wasn't really happy about the idea of rebuilding YET AGAIN and were really sad to see stars players like Dan Wilinsky, Ismond Kingfisher, Joseph McWolf and Leph Twinger leave the franchise. Fortunately, all the new rookies in NY are having quite a really good season and that made the fans quite enthusiastic for the future. Who are these rookies that are making a great impact in this market? Which is the biggest in humankind.

1. Boris the Forest (@chillzone)

Boris was drafted by New York this past season. He was from the Mexico City Kings VHLM team and had 66 pts in his first year with 9 game winning goals. That was enough to being picked 10th overall in the VHL draft in S67. As of right now, Boris is having an amazing ROTY race after being in the back of the group at the start of the year. He has 48 pts in 60 games played and has been a big factor all around in NY. People expect him to become the #1 center in NY and maybe become a future star in this league. He has a really good offensive IQ AND defensive IQ. A center that can score, pass and is willing to block shots. Which makes him the perfect all around center, but he needs to work on his physical games if he wants to become the best one day. His own destiny is right in his hands now.

2. Walter Clements (@cpetrella)

Walter is the rookie who would have the most experience in Hockey compared to the other rookies. Indeed, he has been playing 3 seasons in the VHLM, which is a lot. On his last year, he has been an amazing passer and presence for the Reapers VHLM team. He did have 80 pts and posted an amazing playoff run last year with 19 pts in 14 games with 3 winning playoff goals, but he was only drafted 55th overall before that amazing season unfortunately. Walter is a 6'8 and 250lb center man and fans expect him to fill perfectly on that second line role, which is to become a huge factor in defense and somewhat lay off some pressure on Boris (A Jonathan Toews). He hasn't been available to fill in those defensive shoes, but he has been getting some pts which is always good to have. Hopefully he can fill in those shoes later on.

3. Aleksander Rodriguez

Out of all the rookies in NY, Aleksander Rodriguez may have the potentiel to become a superstar in this league. Born in NY, but lived most of his life in Mexico. He played hockey at an older age, but got an offer to sign for a VHLM team. The first year he had 59 pts which was expected from him in Ottawa and then he was drafted in the VHLM AND the VHL draft in the same year. He was drafted 2nd overall by the Mexico City Kings and 24th overall by Riga, which is pretty amazing if you think about it. Rodriguez had 90 pts in Mexico with 10 winning goals. In this season, he has been adapting his game which reflects his 38 pts, but he is still a top 7 rookies this year. Rodriguez is an amazing all around player and isn't really weak in one specific area. Fans sees him as one of the best players in the game later in his career and may may be the clutchest player alive. He did won WJC for USA, which they have been struggling for years with it ;)

4. Nethila Dissanayake (@nethi99)

Nethila is one of the rookies that we aren't really sure what will he become, neither do fans knows. He was drafted in S66 and had an amazing S65 season with Saskatoon having 74 pts in 72 games, but followed up with only 51 pts the next season in the VHLM. He wasn't having an amazing  playoff performance in those two years, but he is making the team be better just from his presence. His future is really unclear in some people eyes and that is completely reasonable to think about it. Stephen A.Smith said on his show that he has the potential to become an important piece to a team success, but might as well not work out as we thought he would. Fortunately, his players believes in him and Nethila is the rookie with the most determination and work ethic between all of them. Indeed, he will be a VERY interesting player to watch growing during his career.

 5. ACL Tear

Everyone knows who is ACL Tear. Unless you want you're life to be miserable from now on. One of the monster in the VHL who strikes fear in his opponents eyes and no one dares to go against him. The thing special with ACL is that he can get pts as well, which is rare for pure enforcers like him. ACL will become big depth player for NY and especially in the playoff. He could become one of the best enforcers in VHL history and get a couple of cups under his belt. Btw, expect him to be in the WWE after his retirement. Nothing else to be said here.

6. Blake Laughton (@Grape)

Blake played 2 years in the VHLM. The first one was a horrible year and I can't even mentions those stats, but the one after that. Yikes, 80 pts in 72 game played with OTT and having a +/- of 41, yes 41. He lead his team to the finals, but he came just short. Blake is a versatile player who can shoot, hit and block shots for a winger, but he takes a lot of penalty. Fans expect him to contend to be one of the best two way forward each season once he adapts to the VHL, even though he will probably play 2nd line ice time during his career in NY. Those kind of players are what every teams wants in his squad and NY is really happy to have him on board. We just need to believe that he can fill in those shoes whenever he is ready. He has 33 pts in the VHL at the moment, which is really good for a rookie on the third line for a rebuilding team. The new Matt Thompson is incoming?

Honorable Mentions: Guy LeGrande (@Steve) has been traded to NY during the season and is currently the only visible defense men prospect that we have on the team. We don't have that much information about him yet, but we expect him to become the #1 or #2 defense men on the team in his career and probably become one of the better offensive d-men in the league. A lot lays on his shoulders.

Same thing for Kolur Bjoernsson (@jblock3). We hope he becomes a good starting goaltender in the league and get decent numbers for the team success.

To conclude, NY has a bunch of picks for the next 2 years and it seems that the draft is really good defense wise next year and forwards wise after that. This will be a great chance to Esso to show off his drafting skills. He has the team destiny in his hand and has the power to contruct the team that he desires.
