VHL Mock Draft

With the Season 38 VHL Entry just around the corner, I will show you where I think players will end up in the following media spot.

1st Overall ~  :hel:  Helsinki TItans - Defenseman Vojczek Svoboda

Vojczek Svoboda simply put is the best player available in this draft. He has eclipsed the 200 TPE and currently sits at 208 TPE; I believe that is without VHLM tracker too. He is beyond ready for the VHL and I think what other place will he rather go other than Helsinki? Helsinki has a great General Manager in Vince Wong aka "STZ". With Svoboda the Titans will have a great building block as his player agent Brett Slobodzian is well respected and most players want to be around him just to take in what he has to say. I believe the players will learn just as much from Slobodzian as Svoboda does and that would be great for this rebuilding franchise.

2nd Overall ~  :sea:  Seattle Bears (From  :cal: Calgary Wranglers) - Defenseman Don Draper

As of this morning at 8:32 AM, the Seattle Bears surprised everyone and traded Godavari Yumalatopinto to the Calgary Wranglers for Calgary's Season 38 1st Round Draft Pick, Calgary's Season 38 2nd Round Draft Pick and Toronto's Season 38 2nd Round Draft Pick. This surprised everyone and now I believe anyone is fair game. The Bears have a weakness at center and none of the wingers have any face off ability, maybe they should work on that. The only center prospect of note available is Seth Rollins with 50 TPE and I'm positive that they won't use 2nd overall on a 50 TPE player. I believe since they will lose their best defenseman either this year or next as James Lefevre is a Season 32 draftee. So I firmly believe Seattle will want to replace him and choose Don Draper. Draper is the 2nd best defenseman available after Svoboda. Don Draper has 150 TPE and will most likely be in the VHL next season rather than the VHLM. I think this will be a surprising pick as much as the trade that landed 2nd overall as Bruno Wolf will still be on board.

3rd Overall ~  :hel:  Helsinki Titans (From  :nya:  New York Americans) - Right Wing Bruno Wolf

Helsinki has the enviable position of drafting 1st and 3rd overall; this is the 2nd best thing to drafting 1st and 2nd overall. With the Titans selecting Svoboda 1st overall in my eyes, I see them now drafting a forward. With Bruno Wolf still on the draft board, I see the Helsinki Titans drafting Mr. Wolf. He has 175 TPE with 25 banked. This will be a very successful draft in my opinion for the Titans as they get both the best defenseman and the best forward. I say this because they both have the most TPE and because their player agents have very good track records of bringing solid player to the VHL.

4th Overall ~  :col:  Cologne Express - Defenseman Dimothenis Vlasis

After the aforementioned players, Dimothenis Vlasis is the last man standing on what is a very top heavy draft. Vlasis has 149 TPE as of right now, and is only getting better. It is a toss-up between him going to Seattle 2nd overall or going to Cologne 4th overall. Both Seattle and Cologne need defenseman and it's all a matter of which team prefers either Draper or Vlasis as whoever is not picked is going to Cologne in my opinion. Vlasis has shown signs of becoming a very good player in the VHL, in other words this is potential and Vlasis shows a lot of it. Can he put it all together though?

5th Overall ~  :que: Quebec City Meute - Goaltender Brock Waldron

The Quebec City Meute are in a pickle. They have no prospects and a lot of needs. The goalie position is the biggest one I see. With Brock being the only goalie of note in this draft I don't see the Meute passing up a goalie with 137 TPE. He is nearing the VHL and could honestly be up in the VHL as soon as this season due to the needs of the Meute. This of course is only speculation on my part.

6th Overall ~  :col: Cologne Express (From :vas: Vasteras Iron Eagles - Left Wing Steve Tremblay

There is one option available and that is "better" than him and that is Ashton Galbraith and he has been inactive for a little while now. I haven't seen him around the boards in a while and with Tremblay getting better and reaching the 100 TPE plateau with 109, I don't see Cologne passing up on an active player. They will just have to pray that he doesn't go inactive afterwards. Tremblay and his agent do have some history in the VHL as Steve's agent brought in Steve Lafrombois a former great goaltender in the VHL.

7th Overall ~  :hel:  Helsinki Titans (From  :sea:Seattle Bears) - Right Wing Ashton Galbraith

Helsinki at this point getting Svoboda and Wolf will just take the BPA. This at the time is Ashton Galbraith. They will draft him and hope for the best and try reach out to his player agent in an attempt to get him to start showing up to practice. Galbraith's agent formerly brought in the legendary Ondrej Skokan. Galbraith on the other hand has a long way to go being only at 122 TPE.

8th Overall ~  :col: Cologne Express (From :rig: Riga Reign) - Left Wing Chris Raymond

Chris Raymond is an interesting prospect. He started out strong then disappeared and now has recently re-appeared. He is close to breaking 100 TPE with 94 TPE currently but due to lack of depth he will be going in the first round. Kachur, his player agent, has brought some decent players to the VHL but that's as far as they went in terms of 'good' players. Raymond's stock is a roller coaster right now and Cologne will hope he turns out to be more than VHL depth.

9th Overall ~  :col: Cologne Express (From :dav: HC Davos Dynamo) - Center Seth Rollins - 50 TPE

10th Overall ~  :col: Cologne Express (From  :tor: Toronto Legion) - Left Wing Walt Pringle - 46 TPE

After the first 8 picks no player is better than 50 TPE so I don't want to write anything because there is no point. With these last two picks there is just hope. Hope that these players will become active and give the Express depth.

Didn't realise the draft quality fell off quite so sharply. I suspected it would be weaker initially because of what seasons it falls on (S29, S30, shallow drafts), but there was more promise at the start of the season.

I've been pumping Drapers tires since the day he joined, can't wait to slash them and watch him become the biggest bust ever.

yeah well at least draper wont be washed up for a few more seasons :)

Content: 3/3

1082 words. This was well written and you backed up all your predictions with perfectly plausible reasoning. It didn't exactly pan out the way you predicted, but it very well could have. Overall, this was a really enjoyable read as it is always fun to speculate.

Grammar: 2/2

This was a lot better than your other articles in terms of grammar. There was a few more errors like the ones below, involving commas, but other than that everything looks good.

With Svoboda the = With Svoboda, the

of note in this draft I = of note in this draft, I

Appearance: 1/1

Looks good. Not a big fan of that font, but that is just me.

Overall: 6/6
