Possible draft steals from each VHL round

Recommended Posts

For this weeks article I thought it would be a good idea to go through each round to see who could possibly be the best steal from the first 6 rounds of Mondays draft.
1st Round:
RJ Thatcher @jhatty8
With 86 points in 72 games played last season, it's fair to say RJ is not an unknown player heading into this next draft. But what I think makes him more valuable than some might think is the rate at which he earns. If he keeps up his current pace he will surely surpass many of the players above him and might become the best player to come out of this draft class.
2nd Round:
Addison McLaren @tcookie25
Addison, who was a late waiver claim pick up is on the list for similar reasons to RJ. He's earned at a shocking rate in his short time in the VHL which has seen him rocket up the draft rankings in the past few weeks. He can be projected to be at the very least a first line talent and may become a superstar if he's able to keep up his pace.
3rd Round:
Sheldon Juniper @fyrefly
Like Addison, Juniper is a mid season waiver claim pick up. unlike Addison, Sheldon took a little while to get going TPE wise. But once he got rolling he never stopped. What GM's should definitely take note of is the increased rate at which Sheldon improved. Starting out as a welfare player Sheldon gradually increased his earing until he gained 34 TPE in a week, If he can keep finding ways to improve he can be an impact player in the VHL within 2 seasons.
4th Round:
John Callahan Jr @Callahan
While his stats aren't too impressive what's interesting is his inconsistent earning. Callahan Jr Once earned 30 TPE in a week. Since then his earning has dialed down as has only capped out once since then. What can make Callahan Jr a valuable prospect is that he's proved he can earn a large amount of TPE, all that's missing is the consistency. If a team can push him in the right direction he can be a very good 4th round pick.
5th Round:
Anthony Suzuki @Anthony Suzuki
What separates Suzuki from other 5th rounders is his activity and devotion to the league, Anthony has shown through his activity on the forums the desire to improve and learn more about the league. While this may seem like a cliché reason to select him here I think activity is extremely important for GM's when selecting a player, especially in the later rounds.
6th Round:
Andy Nexber @Domino Draws
Nexber also shows a lot of activity for a later round player, and what makes him interesting is his surprising amount of knowledge of the league and his entertaining articles. he's also greatly improved his earing in the past week, improving from making 8 or 6 TPE to 14. If activity is any indication of success then Nexber can certainly be one to look out for in the future.
