Not in favor of a switch in sths engine. I loved the shl sliders in s10-11. My player got top goal scorer in his sophomore year.

After they changed something in the engine my player never got really back to the level he showed that year and it kind off destroyed my interest in my player there. Dont want the same thing to happen here

No offence taken Ball. Only thing they will miss is the Faceoff percentages I had my entire career. One of the best in that category.

Also not in favour of a STHS switch, if that happens I'll likely leave. Because like Green said it really messes with peoples ability to understand the current sim. Over there it pissed me off and I went inactive.

I think its worth buying the game to test on if we don't already have it.  We can always sim 10 seasons worth of stuff each year and compare and continuously tweak things  to make it work.  Madden/NHL 07 or whatever was the universal sim engine till we found something better.  STHS has been great but there is a reason a second one was made and I agree with Higgins that I don't think the strategy settings really matter.  Riga actually got more hits after I removed the physical strategy completely.

I'm also of the opinion that line-by-line strategies might not do anything, since that's a post-V1 feature.  The last page team-wide strategies likely do, however.

If we switched to V2, I'd certainly make sure nothing changes drastically, but that takes a lot testing and time, like Higgins said.  As he also said, just switching it straight up and not changing anything would be a disaster.  We've seen V2 pre-seasons, penalties and fighting particular gets entirely fucky, even if you crank the sliders down IIRC.  I honestly believe that might be because 40 is our base for attributes, and 40 could be a high attribute for Fighting in V2.  A solution would be a league-wide nerf.

I do think it may be possible to switch to V2 and not "notice".  It'll just take some work and planning.  Maybe sterling, Higgins, and I triple team it.  We each sim 10 full seasons with current V1 settings, then sim full seasons on V2, adjusting until we find some consistency. It won't be quick, or fun, but it'll be doable.

In the end though, there's still a chance it may actually not be possible.  Perhaps V2 can't properly fathom the fact half our rosters are CPUs, or some other unfixable thing like that.  It seems in those pre-seasons I've simmed that CPUs are a lot more involved than they have right to be.  Although on that same coin, that may just because the lines were probably auto'd at that point.  Which on THAT point makes full season test sims possibly "unreliable" since I'm pretty sure lines auto after 10 games when I do that.
