I will fight anyone who doesn't like Argyle, the dude is a great comedic relief character that isn't super important to the plot until he is. Definitely agree with both Jardy and Gus that Max should've died, not out of some perverse need for blood, but because damn that plot armour was thicc. If Elle brings her back, we may as well get some #JusticeForBarb and get a revival there, too because why the fuck not? Personally, I don't really like Jonathan (and haven't ever, really), but I do hate the Steve/Nancy stuff going on. Jonathan could definitely communicate a lot better, but the whole will they, won't they, love triangle BS is unnecessary. I know a lot of people didn't love the violence aspect, but I think it works well, and the show should naturally grow up with the kids - the first season was about 12 year olds, and was already pretty violent for a story with kids that young. Overall, I really enjoyed the season, definitely in my top 4.

I am not, for several reasons, the main one being I hadn't heard about it before sign ups closed. Another being that I wouldn't want to take the place of anyone who actually wanted to be part of it. GMs know who I am, don't need to showcase anything 4. I have a spare minute so I'm writing these questions while I'm at work. At what point of the day do you usually spend most of your VHL time? Usually at work when I've got some down time. I'm planning to be less involved in this turn in the VHL, so I try not to check too often when I'm at home. 5. I have a sudden urge to eat perogies and sausage. Are you having any particular cravings right now? Are they pregnancy cravings? Hmm, nothing really. Though, I did just eat breakfast, so I'm pretty good - hash browns and egg whites with some everything bagel seasoning are an S tier breakfast and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. 6. My partner and I just finished watching the latest season of Stranger Things. What's the most recent media that you've consumed/have been consuming? This can be books, TV, movies, games, etc. I recently started re-watching Peaky Blinders from the beginning to prepare for the final season, but now my wife wants to start it so I've stopped to re-start from S1 with her. We haven't had a chance to start yet, so I've been watching The Expanse, which I've really enjoyed and gotten through the first 4 seasons now. Will probably pick up the books when I'm done and give those a read.

Jill Scott, Jon Connor & Anderson .Paak, just imagine a slow stroll hamming it up to this song, it'd be perfect. 3. After a couple of YouTube ads, we have a stream of new recruits joining the league. What's something we can tell them to convince them to sign with Halifax? We have Donair and garlic fingers. What else could one need? 4. Speaking of recruiting new players to sign with us, most GMs usually do so by coming up with some snazzy hashtag. Should I also be utilizing a snazzy hashtag? If so, what should it be? If not, why? You know how parents always tell you to act your age? Well I'm gonna do the same thing and tell you that you're too old to be using hashtags. Use the same methods of recruiting as the old days: none, send an offer and make them join! 5. What is something you would say you're the most passionate about? Oh man, I feel like I'm pretty lame and not super passionate about a lot? I guess sports and cooking? To me it's really fun to try a new recipe or method of cooking, and really nailing it is pretty rewarding. 6. Suppose you were Naked and Afraid™ on a small jungle island for two weeks. What are three things you would bring with you? I've never watched this show, so not sure what the rules are. Can I cheat and say a boat/plane? Or at least a seadoo with 2 large jugs of fuel? Or is it supposed to just be stuff I can carry on my person? If the former, I've already said what I'd bring lol. If the latter, I guess a tent, a machete, and a giant bag of weed. Tent gives shelter, machete can be multipurpose in getting me food/adjusting my surroundings, and the weed is self-explanatory IMO.

Eh, why not add a few more names to the vault of people from the past 15 years? CowboyinAmerica @CowboyinAmerica Until yesterday, I had no idea who Zach Warren was. Now I know it's CIA. I've never really talked much to him, but he's always seemed like a really level headed person whom I've respected a lot as a member here Gus @Gustav There was a point where I sent him poop emojis often, just so I could say I'd sent him shit. He also runs (ran?) the Town of Salem game that a lot of people enjoyed, which is nice of him. McLovin I don't know if he's ever created a new profile on this site, or if the other McLovins are imposters. He was one of the first players to use FA and bolt from Vasteras, so there's that, I guess. Zero @Zero Man, my memory is actually terrible when it comes to people from the past who aren't still around. To be fair, the last time I talked to a lot of those people was 10+ years ago. Zero gave me my first GM job, when he drafted Matt Bailey to Helsinki. STZ @STZ Another Leafs fan, and graphics gawd. Random Members from the past 15 years VHL HQ, Somewhere in Canada So, I guess it's theme week this week? I think it's pretty cool that this is still a thing, scheduled every season. It replaced the old way of having random doubles weeks every few months, whenever the Blue Team felt like one was needed. Originally, that was supposed to be once a season, typically in the off-season, but then they became more sporadic, probably due to TPE inflation (Queue a back in my day segment from some of the old farts around here). There's probably a ton of different ways I could look back at the last decade and a half, and how the VHL has impacted my life and many others. There's probably some really fun, crazy stories that I've forgotten. But that's not what I'm here for. I'm kinda feeling like just going through the memory bank on members I've known throughout the years, so I'm going to list a bunch of random people, some may still be here, many won't be, and talk a little bit about them from what I can remember. Beketov @Beketov The man is basically part of the furniture at this point. Been here since Day 1, and hasn't taken a day off, since, which - if you know, you know how incredible that is. He's given his heart and soul to this league and is, for my money, the greatest member it's ever had Scotty @scotty Basically Neo from The Matrix, he brought us to this whole new world, run by the truly tyrannical Simon T. Made the greatest builds ever in a time where only a few members were able to actually max earn. Without Scotty, who knows how long before we move on from simming games on the NHL series, or if it ever happens? Brooks @brooks. Was basically my best internet buddy for the longest time. I remember skyping with him all the time back in the day. He was the OG graphics god on this site that everyone tried to catch up to, which I think led to all the great GFX people we've had throughout the years. Catch22 Kind of a random member to remember, I think his name was Cory? I do remember talking to him on MSN a lot, he was a pretty chill guy. marshall @marshall_222 (idk if that's actually him or not) I actually didn't interact with marshall too much, but IIRC, he was like best friends IRL with Catch22, and he made some really good players, too. tfong @Baozi He likes food and is probably a little too thirsty, but he's a good dude and gamed the welfare system perfectly Phil @Phil He joined after the initial member boom. Pretty sure he just thought it was some lame thing that his brother did, but ended up becoming such a great member. He's also from Toronto and a huge Leafs fan, so for that alone will always be one of my top members. JeffD @JeffD Another member that was a Day 1, left for a long time, then came back and became a prominent member. I actually didn't know him too well during his first go around, but when he came back it was easy to see what a great sense of humour he's got and what a good person and friend he is. Built the greatest dynasty that never dynastied in Chicago, and I will stand by that til this place shuts down, maybe in another 15 years? fishy @fishy Honestly, I wasn't sure what to make of fishy at first. But then we started to talk a lot more and interact. Definitely one of the bravest, smartest, caring people I know, and I'm proud to call them a friend. I honestly can't say enough about them and the impact they've had on the VHL. Solas @solas Another older member, I didn't really know much about him until we were on Chicago together. He's got a lowkey sense of humour, like the quiet kid in class who will throw out a line randomly and have everyone in stitches. Great dude with an impeccable taste in music. Muff @.sniffuM Another member with a huge heart, the lovable muffin man known for having a discord profile picture of Klay Thompson as Patrick Star from spongebob - if that doesn't encapsulate who Muff is, then I don't really have any better words to do it. Always had great stories, and always cared about everyone he talked to. frescoelmo @frescoelmo One of the funniest dudes I know, and also super chill. Sometimes I wonder if he's actually just The Dude IRL, drinking creamy White Russians all day, worrying about how a rug ties his place together. Victor @Victor The original eager beaver, he was so young when he first joined, I'm pretty sure he's still a teenager. He's another member who has put a lot of time into the foundations of the league, as it is today, and even though he deserves to take a back seat and just chill, still works pretty hard as VHLE Commish. Jardy @JardyB10 If Vic is the OG eager beaver, Jardy is 2.0 - he came in and just soaked everything about the VHL up like a sponge, created one of the best first gens of all time, and shot to the top of the league. He's another guy I used to talk to on MSN a lot, which probably says more about how old we are than it does about the league. Also, his profile pic here is one that I made him like 10-12 years ago, which is pretty wild lol PensFan101 @PensFan101 As his username probably gives away, he was a big Pittsburgh Penguins fan. He also had a league that predated the VHL, called the DHL. TBH, I'm not sure what happened with him, I think he left around the mid teens in VHL seasons? nibbz @nibbz The original shark of a GM, he's probably the reason for a lot of the obscure rules you'll find in the rule book, as he was always looking for loopholes to exploit. Beaviss @Beaviss Was one of my best friends here for a long time. He was always looking for ways to improve the league, and without him, we don't have 16 teams, or a third league, or a lot of stuff that makes it tick, nowadays. Noiles He always felt like the little brother of the league? I remember him being kinda dorky and a little intense, but not in a douchey way. Dil @Dil I owe him a podcast still, which I will get to one day. Other than the fact that he thinks we have this Indian bond, he's a smart and funny guy who's grown up a lot since he first joined the league and pissed everyone off. Josh @Josh IDK, he's the nerd that got duped into taking over working on the portal for no money. For really, though, great dude even if he's a Jets fan. Zach Warren I honestly have no clue who this is, I was just going through the HOF Builders and saw they were inducted. No article either, so... At this point, this is well over 1100 words, so I'll be using it to claim doubles from theme week and triples for the league's anniversary. Dope.

1. We've picked up two new players recently in Sunglasses Joyo and jacob cookie jr. How would you welcome them to the city of Halifax, and/or to the VHL as a whole? Hmm...welcoming them to Halifax I'd probably defer to @Will and @Beketov, maybe go grab some donair and garlic fingers? Probably hop on a seaplane over to Newfoundland and kiss the fish? 2. Is there a particular NHL or VHL player you want to model your game or career around? Who is the most average goalie you can think of? Ok, now imagine that goalie, but probably a bit worse, yet a bank account that could literally buy every team in existence. Yeah, he's who I'm modeling my career around. 3. How did you first discover the VHL? @brooks. told me that he and @scotty were working on the league after SHL and a bunch of other leagues run on Chel folded. I don't think they ever imagined this thing lasting nearly this long, when to that point the longest running hockey sim leagues maybe lasted a year 4. It's very early in the season, but we are currently in a playoff position! What are some things we could do to ensure we stay in that position? I'm honestly not sure how the M dynamics work anymore, but I guess get lucky in picking up some solid actives through waivers and adding some depth. Right now, only one team has fewer GF than us, so scoring would help. 5. I finally watched Up for the first time relatively recently, and damn it was good! What is your favourite animated movie? Spiderman Into the Spiderverse is probably the single greatest animated movie of all time. Such a good movie and I can't wait for Across the Spiderverse to come out. 6. What website would you say you visit the most? Anyone who doesn't say reddit is a liar. Too easy to curate it into a news source for all your fandoms + get some entertainment, even if most of it is creative writing.
