S91 - VHL Playoff Bracket Challenge - Round 4

@Mysterious_Fish sir please add me to ping list -
Cologne has threepeated! Woo-hoo and congrats! The Express have experienced a true Renaissance in the VHLE, attracting the cup like a magnet after only winning one championship in their 27-season long stay in the VHL. Here's some fun tidbits coming out of Cologne's latest victory. Cologne and Oslo have now won the last 7 Renaissance Cups between them. Ironically they were the last two franchises to claim a championship (ignoring Geneva who never did) and now haven't let anyone else touch it. Oslo and Cologne haven't actually contested many finals in that time period. The Storm beat the Express in S85 before Cologne avenged that defeat in S87, but otherwise the duo have bullied the rest of the league. Rome has been the unlucky bridesmaid on three occasions and have the joint-most finals appearances with Cologne but just one cup to show for it. Vasteras have continued reliving their VHL nightmare by being unable to match their inaugural season win, despite putting together strong rosters. Bratislava and Stockholm have wisely decided to avoid the finals since the Cologne-Oslo duopoly began. And finally, Jordan Bennett has become the first player with 4 Renaissance Cups to his name – fittingly, 3 with Cologne, 1 with Oslo. Cologne loyalist Al Land is hot on his tail though with 3 straight cups.

I don't do my full update on Mondays and haven't done today's. I was ahead yesterday and I don't think your temporary 5 TPE lead is going to cause me significant issues giving there's 14 a week.

It's not been 25 seasons yet so not sure what Vasteras is expecting here tbh.

One of the VHL's longest cup droughts will be coming to an end
Victor replied to scoop's topic in VHL.com Articles
Same wavelength for sure. What we know is if Toronto wins it's the start of a finals streak, repeat, threepeat or something, they don't mess about. -
In fact, a 24 or a 25 season cup drought will end this season.
-
Big statement to end a very long finals drought for Toronto. Toronto vs Helsinki, that's a proper throwback final.

Trade deadline day in the VHL in S91 arrived with unexpected great news for Italian hockey – not one but two highly-rated prospects from well-regarded agencies decided to join the S93 draft while also representing Italy. At the time of writing, Antonia Bucatini and Gianfranco Del Rocco remain the top two prospects in the draft based on TPE and pleasingly for Italian fans do not appear to be engaging in a toxic rivalry but going about their business in a healthy manner. Those hoping for an immediate link-up between the two young forwards were left disappointed when Bucatini teamed up with fellow S93 draftee Jean Pierre-Devote from nearby Monaco instead, joining the high-flying Philadelphia Reapers. Bucatini has reaped benefits of making the first move with 14 points in 18 regular season games and now already beating that with 15 points through two rounds of the playoffs as Philadelphia has booked a ticket to the Founder's Cup finals. Del Rocco, having opted to join fringe playoff team Miami instead to guarantee a top 6 position, matched Bucatini's regular season output but the playoffs ended for the Marauders after just five games, with just a goal and an assist for Del Rocco to show for it. Both Italians have shown good progress in their early VHLM days and will be expected to be drafted early in the upcoming Dispersal Draft, with fans back home having every reason to look forward to a bright future in the VHL.

All 4 now (or again in Teno and Vandelay's case) feature prominently in the best goaltending performances ever... https://vhlforum.com/topic/35246-greatest-goaltending-performances-in-single-playoff-series/ More to come in the conference finals and finals perhaps? -

After a season's hiatus, we return with the feelgood award of the VHL. Why were we gone for a season? Answer is here: https://vhlforum.com/topic/141424-elmebeck-trophy/ As a reminder, every member can nominate one other member who they feel demonstrated great work ethic, passion for the VHL, and/or made some notable contribution which in your eyes made them stand out. There are no restrictions on who you nominate, but we will not necessarily vote for someone in a position of power. This should whittle it down to a few candidates which the BOG will vote on prior to the off-season awards ceremony. Big change this season is this is looking at the last 2 seasons, i.e. the last 4 months. Get your nominations in and give us some strong candidates to assess. To nominate a fellow member, simply fill out the short form linked here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSflbbFNs0D13BMOj9Fv5EFDqIpUdRhM7JqSLwFmhLnyUyoPng/viewform?usp=sf_link @Members

Great run, thank you for bringing Calgary back to the top where it belongs. Thought you'd be a Bana/hedge style lifer but tbh not entirely sure how they do it, respect the decision to step away rather than dwindling away.
