  1. Clean it up here. Tensions are allowed to run high, and you can debate the circumstances of this deal all you want. Personal attacks are uncalled for and will not be tolerated in this thread.
  2. Topic moved to appropriate forum. This may not be claimed for TPE.
  3. Unfortunate. Nothing to do now other than pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and get right back to contention.
  4. hi it me, ready for fantasy
  5. 1. As we gear up for the postseason, who do you see as our biggest competition and why? Moscow, of course! I think you could make an argument for Vancouver, too, but we wouldn't see them 'til the championship if we were to make it there. 2. Who is in the playoff race that has surprised you the most this season? Can I answer this question the opposite way? I'm surprised by HC Davos's miserable season, especially provided the quality of their top players (before they all got sold). 3. Who has been the team MVP this season and why? Krishna is the first guy that comes to mind. He's been very consistent (as consistent as you can be in STHS anyways) and at the top of the league. He even had a shutout recently! 4. Which player on Warsaw do you think has improved the most this season? Chris Reynolds is my pick for this one! He's taken a huge leap forward in scoring and has flipped from being a slightly below-average player to a markedly above-average one! 5. Which position group do you feel most confident in on the team as the postseason draws near? This is like asking a parent to pick a favorite child! I do not have a position group I feel 'most confident' in, per se. I like our chances in the post season because of all of them, not in spite of one or two of them. 6. What do you think is the most underrated sport excluding hockey? I think roller derby is very much underrated as a spectator sport AND as a sport to play! There are certainly some very physical players there, and it's pretty high-impact too.
  6. 1. There's been some big trades during the season for the first time in forever! Who do you think benefits the most from these trades? I don't know. I was a little concerned that SS Hornet got let go for comparatively little, but I think some of the other trades Davos made were decent. Hard to say til we at least see the respective drafts pan out, but I think Davos (who was involved in most of the trades) came out about the same as they started. 2. We are in a tight race for 1st overall in the conference, do you think we have what it takes to win the games against Moscow and secure that top spot? Of course!! Whether we actually do it is another question, I think, so we'll have to keep fighting like crazy. 3. Do you post on any social media platforms? Not particularly. I only use Facebook for the messenger at times, and have a very private Instagram account that I do not keep particularly active. Does that count? 4. If a young fan asks you for your autograph, are you more than willing to give it? Of course!! It is unusual to have this many female players in the VHL at once, so I suspect players like Lexi and I need to serve as role models for equality and representation in a very physical sport! 5. Valentine's Day is coming up! Do you have a special person in your life? Romantically, no. I do love to spend some time with my best friend Venus though! 6. What is your favourite chocolate? Frellsen Chokolade is my personal favorite. Venus says they're a bit overrated, but I think it's wonderful!! 7. How pumped are you for another chance at the playoffs this season? Pshh, does it even need to be said? My plan is to see Venus in the finals!!
  7. Warsaw, Poland - Though many travel to places with semi-tropical temperatures and plenty of beaches, Warsaw Predators forward Aloe Dear has different priorities – namely spending time with her wonderful friend and former VHLM teammate Venus Thightrap. Thankfully, the young Danish player, in the midst of just her third season, hasn’t really needed to travel far to get home. After all, Denmark has just a tiny fraction of the Baltic Sea between it and Poland – or she can travel up through Germany back home. The journey is a bit tougher for Thightrap, who plays for the Vancouver Wolves way over in west Canada. It’s not particularly practical to travel back and forth between Europe and Canada on a weekly basis – though somehow the VHL does it every week for inter-conference games – and so a portion of Aloe’s vacation is spent with some friends on the team like Lexi Glass. From sipping wine in France to taking a siesta in Spain, everything seems to be sunbathing weather in comparison to Denmark in central and southern Europe. On a week out with the girls, Thightrap, Glass, and Dear sought out landmarks in England (while trying to avoid the traffic in London!), driving cars at abnormally fast speeds in Germany, and taking riding lessons at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Thankfully, as they’re both relatively early in their careers, Thightrap and Dear aren’t particularly well-recognized outside of Denmark and their respective teams’ countries – though as a world champion last season, Venus will occasionally get recognized on the street. On the American side of things, the duo spends much of their time exploring the States and their oddly warm temperatures – though admittedly most of their time is spent in the likes of California, New York, and Florida (mostly for Disney World, let’s be honest). Were there some kind of global pandemic on, Florida would probably be a pretty scary place to be – but with a new Star Wars park and plenty of old classic characters to see, it’s not surprising that Aloe would try and drag Venus here for a handful of days. Their most highly anticipated activity, of course, was going to EPCOT and assessing the accuracy of their Denmark mini-town and hopping into the igloo (that’s still totally there) to test world sodas. Ultimately, Aloe wants to spend some time at home in Denmark this off-season; after spending the last couple of seasons on the grind, including most days in Warsaw or in other teams’ practice facilities for planned camps, even being just a country or two from home is enough to make one homesick. With free agency on the horizon, Aloe will almost certainly want some time to herself and her family to help her make an important career decision. Since Poland is so close to home already, it’s clear that the Predators will be an extremely high spot on her list of priorities – but a little input from her family will obviously hold significant sway even beyond that. Long story short? Plenty of quality time with valued friends like Lexi and Venus, plus some family time during the critical free agency period.

  9. 1. We started 8-0 but came back down to earth with a couple losses. What do we need to do to keep winning? Keep working on earning that TPE! We can rely on Ajay to carry for us a lot so far, but what will give us the most leeway in the future is everyone from line 1 to 3 doing everything they can to improve. 2. Are there any standouts across the league this season for you so far? Ola Vikingstad has had a fantastic season so far. He's top-two in goals scored, but is still on the top ten list across the league for assists scored, too! 3. Predict who you think will finish atop the EU and the NA divisions? Moscow and Warsaw have equal chances to finish at the top of the EU. Vancouver has a great lead right now over Chicago and D.C., but I'm pulling for Chicago to finish on top in that division. 4. Did you play fantasy this year? If so are you happy with your team? Yes and... kind of? I don't know. I have a lot of blues in my fantasy league and unfortunately they're all doing well 5. If you have a great game, what do you treat yourself too afterwards? Nothing! Consistency is key. I will go hang out with teammates if there's a post game celebration, but I need to be in similar shape for the next game if we won! 6. Are you a coffee or tea kind of person? Tea, certainly. There is a wonderful tea brand that produces vanilla chai that I am very fond of.

  11. Warsaw, Poland – Warsaw’s seen a lot of results in their favor over the last few days, which may lead some to hand them an early ‘favorite’ designation. But the Predators generally aren’t so quick to judge. “You see this all the time in the VHL – one team starts hot, and most of the time they cool off a bit later in the season,” forward Aloe Dear commented at a recent presser, “when I was growing up in Denmark, we saw much of the same happen to Malmo. They have obviously had some better seasons since, but the first ten games of the season are scarcely ever an indicator of how the rest of the season will play out. If we become complacent now, we might as well doom ourselves to the poor finish that some of those very, very early Malmo teams had – save their season with Thompson some eight years ago or so.” “I understand media is quite fast to hitch their wagon to a new darling early in the season, but all it does is disappoint the fans more unless we essentially are perfect this season,” she continued, commenting on the 8-1-2 record after a recent string of iffy games, “and this is quite frequently the result after our first few losses. I think the earlier we can get the more critical media members off of our back, the better we’ll have this season. I’ve already asked some of our younger players not to look at media, as they can be quite brutal even if we’re doing well.”
  12. 1. Now that the offseason has finally ended, which team(s) do you most look forward to playing against? Vancouver and Chicago! They're both teams with close friends from the Minor League on them, so I would love an opportunity to visit them (or have them come visit us). 2. What are your goals for this season? Plenty! Hahahaha! Oh, wait, you mean what I want to accomplish with this season - sorry, English is so confusing.. A championship would be nice; I don't care how many goals I get if we get a title out of it. 3. Having started 4-0-0 for a second consecutive season, what has been the main factor behind our strong start? Ajay's been rock solid in net, and Uhtred has been a huge boon for us this early in the season. Otherwise, it's just a young team getting more experience. 4. What was your favorite sports story of 2020? I thought the emergency goalie game for Toronto was pretty wonderful. Who would have thought a zamboni driver could succeed at the highest level? 5. How has the addition of Uhtred and rookies Kevin Wu and Nero Endrizzi to the team impacted us so far? Hard to say. I do not want to set expectations too high, as oftentimes that can be a catalyst for something going wrong or mentally players getting discouraged if we have a slump in the middle of the season. 6. If you could change the color scheme of our logo from the blue, orange and white, which colors do you think would go nicely on our logo? Hmm, I do like the blue, so I would probably keep that. Maybe black and a few different shades of blue would also work well.

  18. 1. Big congrats to Malmo, how does it feel now that we lost to the cup champs in the playoffs? Hrm. It doesn't really change my mood too much, even if they were the champions. If we want to go all the way, we'll need to be able to beat everyone at their best. 2. Draft is in a few days, do you get excited even though you're not part of it? To an extent! It's always fun to bring in new faces, even if they may not play with me or some other teammates all that much. I'm interested to see how they fit in to our plans! 3. We made a big trade bringing in Uhtred, are you happy to have another star forward up front? I think chemistry is always important! I hope Uhtred can find their place in our team quickly, as we've got some cups to win! 4. With the roster pretty much set, how do you feel about Warsaw's chances next season? Good. The playoffs are certainly unpredictable, but I think we'll have a chance if we keep our work ethic from the last couple of seasons. 5. What have you been up to with your time off in the off-season so far? Hanging out with Venus @BladeMaiden, of course. 6. I know it's a joke about golfing after the playoffs, but do you play? Not in the least! I have actually never played a single game of golf, as it is far too slow-paced and non-interactive. With skating there are times of serenity, certainly, but never times when I feel disengaged.
  19. 1. How are you coping thus far into the off-season, missing hockey already? I'm occupying myself with the Pro-Am. There are certainly some promising young players! With the World Juniors coming up too, I think I've had more than enough to keep busy. 2. What kind of beverages you gonna enjoy the next few weeks? I don't drink much alcohol (I think Venus drinks enough for the both of us sometimes! But she has excellent tolerance), but I do enjoy some fruit juice, tea, and rarely coffee. 3. How important is it that we lock up Lamb this off-season? Very important! Lamb is critical to the future of this team and I would be very sad if we could not get him to return. 4. Who you cheering for in the cup finals? I was cheering for the Malmo of course! They are our European brothers (plus it looks better that we lose to the champions, right?). 5. Are you excited for NHL to start back up? I don't watch much of the NHL hockey, unfortunately. I try to focus as much as I can on this international league since there are so many teams and games. 8. It's a new year! Any resolutions for you? I hope to bring us a cup, naturally! But I also resolve to spend more time with Venus @BladeMaiden; the VHL has left us little time to spend together! (in real life, I need to match to the residency of my dreams hopefully).

  21. Warsaw, Poland – After a couple of seasons with Warsaw, winger Aloe Dear plans on sticking to her guns. “I said it before the draft and I intend on keeping my word – I’ll at least explore free agency this off-season, which means I’ll stick my toes in the FA pool. I’m not sure how much more will come of it, naturally. But it’s important to exercise one’s rights as a player with options in this industry, don’t you think? Get a sense of my worth and all.” Warsaw GM Muff has already made several moves appealing to Dear over the last couple of seasons – including drafting or trading for players like Jeffrenomitsu the 3rd, Lexi Glass, Tim Waters, and Ajay Krishna. Management has obviously put together a marvelous team thus far – as Warsaw took Malmo to seven games in the conference semi-finals with a very young team – and it remains to be seen whether that will be enough of a hook to keep the Danish forward on board. Dear's agency - the same that managed former players Apollo and Saul Hackett, as well as the now-ancient Hiro Renomitsu - has a penchant for sticking with the team that drafts his players (though tends to get his players paid handsomely regardless). Will this continue to be the case with Dear?
  22. 1. Do you prefer to drink cold water or room temperature water? Room temperature. Whether it's absolutely frigid or a roiling heat outside, room temp water is appropriate. Cold water is a mistake in freezing weather! 2. Any predictions for how the team is going to handle the offseason? No idea. The whole "more teams" thing should have probably increased movement in the off-season but it doesn't seem as though that was necessarily the case. 3. Chicago is now the last team remaining in the playoffs from our expansion three seasons ago. Are you surprised to see it was the team that had to go up against the top team in the regular season that is the last still standing? Not particularly. We can call series results "upsets," but at the end of the day STHS does whatever it wants. 4. Who do you think wins Chicago-DC? And what about Moscow-Malmo? I think Chicago continues on with the plot armor and Malmo vanquishes Moscow. Or wait, maybe that was wishful thinking... 5. Which player on the team do you think will improve the most going into next season? Hard to say without knowing what next season looks like from a personnel standpoint. It won't be Krishna, though - I don't think there's much room for him to go up to! 6. What will you focus on the most to improve this offseason? I'm going to hit the gym and become stronger! And I might improve my puck handling a little, I don't know.
  23. The Champions League idea for fantasy is intriguing, but demands a setting of expectations or goals. The incentive for players would be to place second (for a chance at 5 TPE/season instead of 6+an average of 3.5) instead of first unless you *also* decide to stick players in second place in their own groups. But that disadvantages those who place second because now all of the players 3rd-6th in their group have less competition, which causes... You get my point. If you want to sort people by placement in their group, you need to do it for all players at all placement values so everyone has an opportunity to average 3.5 TPE/season. But that punishes being 'skilled' at fantasy by placing you with tougher competition for doing well. If your intention is to equalize TPE earnings by externally influencing group placements, you punish people doing careful research. If your intention is to reward people for skill, randomizing the groups (in spite of Velevra's unfortunate 2nd place this season) is probably still the best way to do that. As I'm listening a bit further - chill with the ableist slur, even if you're exasperated. Thanks.
