  1. 2. Jeff Hamilton - Seattle Bears "WHAM! Seattle have been down in the dumps for a while but no more as they add unstoppable Englishman Jeff Hamilton! This kid's from Gerrard's Cross, England, not exactly known for it's hockey prodigies but you know what, they can be very proud of this kid. You know what I love the most about Jeff Hamilton? He's a big body presence, not afraid to drop the gloves but he can shoot the puck past you like no one else. There's never been a better time to be a Bear!"
  2. 1. Zachary Parechkin - Toronto Legion "OH BABY! And just like that, the stud to end all studs ups and moves to Toronto. Zachary Parechkin, first overall in the VHLM draft, first overall in the VHL draft and first overall in my heart. The definition of big body presence, this kid is the complete package, remember the date because this kid's going to be a superstar!!!"
  3. "TAKE YOUR SEATS LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! We're moments away from getting started, I can't contain my excitement."
  4. Wow don't derail Pierre now guys, getting him to do this isn't cheap
  5. "Guess who just entered the building? That's right, Pierre's here baby, bigger than ma- mountain Dallas Stars d-man Jamie Oleksiak and better than up and coming goaltender Yann Danis, I'm here and ready to rumble. I've just finished talking to tonight's first overall pick, Zachary Parechkin. This kid is hot stuff and boy does he like to talk, despite feeling a bit worse for wear after pulling a Tyler Seguin last night; you could say he's following in all the right footsteps! I'm going to take a look at the VHLM draft happening downstairs, stay here and I'll be back with all the draft coverage you could want. WHAM!"
  6. I am delighted to confirm that after the success of his coverage of last season's VHLM Dispersal Draft, the one and only Pierre McGuire will return tomorrow night, but this time he's going for the big one. That's right, he'll be turning his bespectacled gaze to the VHL, as he provides the analysis and opinion that no one else can on the S46 VHL Entry Draft. Be here tomorrow night around 8 for the build-up!
  7. let me not slip out of the third round in the draft tomorrow tybg

  8. TSN Draft Spotlight Is Jonathan Killeen Worth The Risk? James Duthie: Welcome everyone to a very special broadcast. This season's VHL Entry Draft is one of the most exciting we've seen for as long as we can remember. At the top of the class we have a true generational talent in Zachary Parechkin, a player who's set to dominate in the VHL for years to come, closely followed by players like Jeff Hamilton, who've excelled in the juniors this season and are champing at the bit to make the jump up the big leagues and show just how good they really are. It's fair to say that we've heard a lot about these guys and they're all pretty well covered by the media in general. But what really makes this class stand out is some of the players a tier or two below this top class who possess the potential to grow into real players who could be making a difference for a VHL team sooner than you'd think. Isn't that right Bob? Bob McKenzie: That's right James, and one of the most divisive of all these bubble players is Saskatoon centre Jonathan Killeen. He had exactly the same reaction when he was heading into the VHLM Dispersal Draft last year, to the extent that you could probably ask all the GM's in the league their opinions on him and half would tell you he's a total bust, with the other half believing him to be a real diamond in the rough. While his performances for the Wild this year haven't been awful, his off ice behaviour has left a real question mark hanging over his head. Craig Button: Bob's right there. On the ice, Killeen has some incredible natural weapons in his armoury. He's a beautiful skater and an unbelievable playmaker, in my opinion, one of the best in this class, and he also possesses the fantastic raw hockey IQ that coaches crave and can't teach. If Killeen had an attitude to match there's no doubt he'd be a top 10 pick, but his behaviour has been erratic to say the least. Jonathan's missed all but two Wild team training sessions this year, neglected his media and community commitments and even missed games, reportedly due to a drink-fuelled bender with celebrity musician DJ Khaled. Killeen really needs to shape up here and focus on what matters. It is incredibly frustrating to see a young man with this potential throw it away because he can't commit to the game. James Duthie: I think you've really touched on it there Craig, in that had he worked hard this season and kept up the buzz he built pre VHLM Dispersal Draft, he'd be a very sought after guy. As it stands he's likely to be selected what, somewhere after 30th overall which is really disappointing. And that's if he's taken at all, I mean I can see some GM's refusing to even use a pick on him, no matter how low, because of what they feel is a blatant lack of respect for the game. But here's my question for you both; is there any way Jonathan Killeen gets selected earlier than we're anticipating on Thursday? To be specific, can you see him being a top-15 pick? Bob McKenzie: My heart wants me to say yes, but my head's telling me it's not possible and I'm inclined to go with that point of view. Killeen's just been too erratic and hasn't shown any of the drive needed to be a successful player in the VHL. I think if a team has a particular need for a playmaking centre he could get picked up between 30 and 40, but otherwise I'm seeing him as a 40+ pick or potentially even undrafted. Which is a real shame because if he'd only shown a bit more dedication this year he'd be right up there. Craig Button: I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I think he has a chance, albeit incredibly slim one, to be selected somewhere around 13 to 15. He's such a special player that I can see teams being willing to work around the issues he's had and try to develop him to be a real star player. He's come out and claimed he's 100% focused on his game and playing in the VHL, and if he can convince GM's he's worth a chance in the time between now and the draft, who knows what could happen? I personally would love to see a team take a risk and use a higher pick on him, but we'll just have to see how things go. James Duthie: Gentlemen, it's been a pleasure as always. Thanks to you all for tuning in tonight, we hope you'll join us again as we build up to the big VHL Entry Draft this Thursday night, only on TSN.
  9. Jonathan Killeen was a rising star of the VHLM before this season. The poster boy for the new Saskatoon had the world on the end of his stick and the only way was up. That was however before he disappeared for six weeks, reportedly to party with music mogul and cause célèbre DJ Khaled. The two were apparently spotted all over the US in a drunken stupor, with Killeen unable to prevent himself from repeatedly saying "Another one." However, he was seen back in Saskatoon last night and claims he fully intends to settle down and focus on hockey ahead of the VHL draft. "Yeah, it's been a wild season. Sorry to the fans for letting them down but when you get the opportunity to party with Khaled you don't say no." It appears the previously mild mannered youngster from St. Catherine's, Ontario has been swayed by the lures of fame and fortune, but if we're to believe him, he fully intends to get back onto the path to greatness.
  10. Hey everyone, none of you probably missed me but I'm back anyway. I've been pretty busy the last month or so with school and work (had a new role added to my job which means more moolah but a lot less spare time) and a few other things, but I'm definitely intending to be as active as I was when I first started. It feels kinda frustrating how well I came out of the blocks but sort of let things slip, didn't update for a long while and now I've definitely done my long term image some damage, which isn't the best move in your draft year. It's been nice however to see that my player's done fairly nicely in my absence (not far off a point per game) and the Wild are absolutely dominating the North American conference, which gives me a lovely tingly feeling when I think about the playoffs. So yeah, thought I'd tie in my return with a nice way to earn a lovely point of TPE, let's all just hang out and get along and forget I ever left.
  11. Jonathan Killeen - Saskatoon - Choose assists and +/-
  12. Ottawa, ON. - The players of the Saskatoon Wild were left stunned today after they received a visit from an unexpected fan. International music superstar and Ontario native Drake stopped by the team's dressing room, after being in attendance for the game, to congratulate Saskatoon on their win. Drake with Saskatoon Wild goalie Carson Shmyr "It was so surreal" says Saskatoon player Jonathan Killeen. "We were all in the dressing room laughing and joking, the door opens and our media manager walks in, followed by Drake and his entourage." Drake posed for pictures with the players and had a brief conversation with the players, where it's reported that he called the Wild "his favourite team in the VHLM", likely inspired by last season's Founder's Cup success. Erik Hedman poses alongside Drake. "I jokingly asked him what the chances were of him coming up to Sasky to watch a game and he told me he was planning on it next time he was in town." Killeen told me. "After VHLM draft day, this has to be the greatest day of my life so far."

  14. Saskatoon, SK - Jonathan Killeen may just be one of the most controversial picks of the S45 VHLM Dispersal Draft. Selected by the Saskatoon Wild with the 16th overall pick, he possess that divisive quality that has seen him labelled by some as a bust while others believe him to be one of the biggest steals of the day. Killeen however could not be happier with the way things have turned out. "I honestly never expected to go in the first three rounds whatsoever, let alone the second. Coming into it I would've been delighted to have been picked up in the fourth round, but I spoke to the guys at Saskatoon and they obviously saw something in me that made them take me early." Killeen on draft day with Brody Hodgson, GM of the Saskatoon Wild. Killeen, born and raised in the town of St Catherine's, ON, has never played hockey outside of Ontario. Now he will be based in Saskatoon, and regularly playing against teams across North America and Europe. Another potentially daunting prospect for Killeen is the amount of responsibility placed on his shoulders by his new team; it's understood that he will be playing as the team's first-line centre this coming season, but Jonathan believes that this is something he can take in his stride. "It's a dream come true for me to be playing for the Wild, and hopefully it's the first step towards being a great player at the VHL level. I'm going to work as hard as possible to succeed in whatever role the coaching staff chose to give me, and I really hope that I can turn a few heads coming into the S45 draft. We had a lot of success last season and I'm going to be doing everything I can to hopefully replicate it this year. We've got a great group of guys, and I personally don't see why we can't be the best team in the league again."
  15. posting to remember to listen after work
  16. See now it sounds bitchy but I was in full Pierre McGuire mode and the stress was getting to me
  17. This was originally posted at http://www.vhlforum.com/index.php?/topic/23474-live-s45-vhml-dispersal-draft-coverage/, however, I spent loads of time writing it so I thought I may as well get some TPE for it. I decided against editing it at all in order to keep the frantic, McGuire-ian feel to it all. "Wham! It's everybody's favourite pundit Regis Pierre McGuire here, and oh boy you guys are in for a treat tonight! S45 VHLM Dispersal action coming at you live, and I'll be here every step of the way to give you useless facts and pointless trivia about each player! Stay tuned! "Oh boy, it's getting close! I'll be very surprised if we don't see young phenom Zach Parechkin go first here. Half Russian, half Canadian, all monster this big body prescence from Burnaby, BC can do it all. And you know else is from Burnaby? Only a guy called Joe Sakic, Parechkin's not quite Sakic but he's going straight to the top, mark my words! Just under three minutes to go folks!" "Just had word from Darren Dreger on the floor! I'm hearing that proceedings are slightly late getting underway." 1. BERN ROYALS - ZACH PERECHKIN 2. BERN ROYALS - RYAN PRICE "BOOM! Just like that the Bern Royals jump right in and transform their team by adding Parechkin and Price, a big body prescence in net from Chicago! And you know who plays in Chicago? Bryan Bickell of Orono, Ontario! If he's anything to go by this kid's a winner!" 3. MOSCOW RED WOLVES - SHAUN MULLER 4.BERN ROYALS - JORDAN MAVERICK 5. MOSCOW RED WOLVES - ARCTURUS MENGSK 6. OTTAWA LYNX - LUCAS ZHUKENOV "UNBELIEVABLE! The picks are flying in, with the Red Wolves bolstering their attack by adding Shaun Muller, from Germany! I've never visited Germany but I imagine Muller's an efficient sort of guy! Bern go off the board and pick Jordan Maverick, but trust me, this guy's a steal at 4, Moscow pick up Arcturus Mengsk, another mighty German, just like famed Edmonton Oiler, LEON DRAISAITL! And the legendary Ottawa Lynx add towering big bodied d-man Lucas Zhukenov, oh baby this kid's a force to be reckoned with on the blue-line!" 7. Moscow Red Wolves - World B. Free 8. Brampton Blades - Saul Hackett "They just don't stop coming! Moscow picks up the infamous d-man World B. Free, and let me say this, this guy's German, but he's not melting like German chocolate, and he's got all the meat of German sausage. What a big body prescence! And Brampton! The hometown team of the notorious Rick Nash acquire Saul Hackett a guy with one mode; GO!" 9. BERN ROYALS - SEAN BLACKER 10. BERN ROYALS - MATHIEU BAPTISTE 11. Mathieu Baptiste too! What an acquisition, a rugged, goal-scoring big body presence up the middle from Marieville, Quebec, near enough the same place as Pascal Dupuis of the world famous Pittsburgh Penguins! What are they putting in the water?! Bitch Higgins to Moscow is a great pick up, he's from Denmark, just like elite Winnipeg Jets prospect Nikolaj Ehlers. These kids are something to behold!" 12. BRAMPTON BLADES: MAXIME DESCHAMPS 13. MOSCOW RED WOLVES: JACE HINES 14. MOSCOW RED WOLVES: TANNER HYNES 15. BERN ROYALS: KOL MIKAELSON 16. SASKATOON WILD: JONATHAN KILLEEN "UNBELIEVABLE! Brampton bolster their side with Deschamps! From France! Moscow get Jace Hines AND Tanner Hynes, two stud picks who are no relation I assure you. The Royals show you just why they've earned that name and pick up the princely Kol Mikaelson! This fabulous Finn by way of Ottawa will leave his mark! But the big news, the champion Saskatoon Wild go way off the board and pick up young centre Jonathan Killeen! Now this kid isn't a big guy but he's got hands like you've never seen, and guess where he's from? St. Catherines, ON, hometown of legendary Buffalo Sabres winger, Andrew Peters. If that doesn't bode well for the kid then nothing will. Mark my words, this kid's a steal!" 17. BERN ROYALS: BENJAMIN TUMACK 18. OTTAWA LYNX: ETHAN HENDERSON 19. MOSCOW RED WOLVES: BOBBY BOUCHER 20. Ottawa picks up hotly tipped Ethan Henderson, a real-deal winger from Hamilton, Ontario, which gives him something in common with the legendary enforcer Marty McSorley! The Red Wolves add Bobby Boucher and Lucas Galeano, and let me tell you, woe betide the teams that have to face these hot prospects next season. Ottawa play it smart and pick up Geoff Reid, a mobile d-man from Germany, whilst Oslo add the brashly named Super Cock! What a ballsy guy! Saskatoon however go and hit another home run with the world class Neils Skovgaard, another Great Dane who's got it going on in a big way. What a stud pick!" 25. BERN ROYALS: JON PANIK 26. SASKATOON WILD: KENNY KEELY "What a round! The Royals add yet another young superstar in the making in big Jonny Panik, rough and tough d-man from Toronto, or as I call it, the 6! Ottawa goes smart and grabs Super Swede Thomas Andersson a left winger who'll have no trouble leaving you behind! Moscow go continental and select scintillating Spaniard Lucas Villa, this kid's on a fast track to greatness! Brampton get a big body presence in young St. Louis blueliner Zach Voss, this kid can break your body with hits, break your face with punches and break the net with goals; the full package! Bratislava add hot young goalie in Filip Lundqvist, he's got the skills of the king as well as his name! Yukon pick up an elite scoring talent in Lars Siktanc, but let me tell you, you don't want to be on the end of a check from this tough as nails Czech! Oslo gets English winger Kane Hamilton but the Wild steal the headlines again as they go bold and select Kenny Keely, a Bulgarian who's as green as Saskatoon wheat but has the tools to shine. Bern make one last bid to win it all by picking up nifty super Swede Jayden Fasth, young man honed his skills in Skelleftea with fellow country-mates, Erixon and Runblad, all three of them studs! Ottawa pick up Aidan Rozel and let me tell you something, this kid's 100% blue chip, dynamic, big body presence! Moscow grabs Pierre Luc-Lefrancois, big ol' d-man from Quebec, also home to Tampa Bay stud Jonathan Drouin! Brampton acquire Azor Ahai, light footed Irishman who knows how to put a biscuit in the basket, Bratislava add another sublime Swede in Manhole Siegfried, Yukon get Philly born winger Brandon Lapham Jr. who's got sky scraping hockey IQ and a world class wrister to match, whilst Oslo pick up another fab Finn in Stumppell Aurinkoinen Jr. Saskatoon close us out with Mr Irrevelevant, or in this case, Mr Relevant! Matt Gatsby is a star in the making, what a steal! Hailing from Florence, Ontario, just down the road from Sarnia, where the great Steven Stamkos honed his craft! This is Pierre McGuire signing off!" So yeah, please take in consideration that this was done live, entirely independently. Thanks!
  18. In all seriousness, could I actually submit this as a media spot? Took quite a while to do so would be nice to get some TPE for it
