Some of you are already aware but our longtime editor STZ is on a bit of a leave of absence from which he may or may not return to the magazine. After editing literally hundreds of editions, I think we can all have understanding that STZ wants to take a break and decide if he wants to continue editing or not. Of course STZ knows the door is open if he wants to return, but at the same time we all know that he has already done more for the league than we could ever ask of any one member all the while managing his real life, and thus there is nothing to hold against him no matter what he decides.
 
So in the meantime, unless one of you guys would like to try to put the mag together, you guys should revert to doing point tasks - you can still claim your 7 TPE though whilst this is being sorted out. If STZ decides to return then it will be business as usual, if not then we will have to collectively find another solution whether that be a new editor or some other solution for getting these articles out - because I do think there is a place in the VHL for the 'specialized' mag columns that you guys write whether we present them in magazine format or not. 
 
I will keep you all up to date on further developments. 

That's my bad still haven't updated lines girlfriends fam was over at my parents for dinner tonight. Tomorrow I promise.

I finally calculated/posted the full playoff predictions standings from round 1 as a media spot there's a list at the bottom if you guys are interested in seeing it.

Locke and the Meute Performing Well
 
It's exactly the half-way point for all teams in the S54 regular season and Quebec City winger, rookie, and assistant captain John Locke is off to a great start in his first VHL season following his utter dominance in the VHLM with the Ottawa Lynx last year. The American forward is currently the second top scoring rookie with 46 points through 36 games, just a few points behind Riga's Krigars. 
 
For Locke, the choices he's made and events that have happened outside of his control seem to be lining up perfectly thus far for his career. He was originally drafted in S53 by the Stockholm Vikings but quickly traded to Quebec, which allowed him to stay in the minor leagues last season where he gained valuable experience and plenty of trophy hardware before moving up to the now very competitive Meute roster this season. Playing on the second line alongside AK47, the top goal scorer in any single season since expansion*, and fellow S53 draftee and Lynx player Fook Yu, Locke is now making a real push for Rookie of the Year. Even being in serious contention for said award would be a first for the Will agency which represents Mr. Locke. 
 
It isn't just Locke finding success however - Quebec City as a team has excelled tremendously this season and with a pair of recent victories over the New York Americans, the defending champions, they've begun pulling away from their North American conference rivals in the standings. Recent moves by GM Chadwick to reacquire former Meute defender-turned-centerman Felipe Rodriguez as well as winger Vincent Virtanen look to further bolster the QC roster, setting the stage even more for an epic clash between Quebec and New York come playoff time. 
 
It cannot be ignored that Quebec still has a tough schedule ahead of them in the latter half of the season with five games left against New York, six against the Vikings who lead the European Conference, and a few against Helsinki who aren't too far behind. Quebec will need to perform well in these games, especially against New York, if they expect to secure the bye and thus wait patiently for New York to steamroll whoever else makes the playoffs. One factor very much in Quebec's favor is their career backup goalie Edwin Threencarnacion, who could have a significant impact when he plays his 8 games versus the lesser backup goalies that other teams possess. 
 
Overall, while competition is still somewhat lacking in the league, I see some teams on promising trajectories going forward and I think this season is really shaping up to deliver an exciting playoffs among those teams that are competitive. We'll all be watching closely as we quickly approach the trade deadline to see if we get any big shake-ups ahead of the playoffs.
