1. The draft is over and we have added five new players and two returning players to the team.  Of those players, who are you most excited to play with?

I wanna sit in the box after beating the shit out of someone else.  But I'm happy to sit in the box with anyone.

2. The team has assembled a full squad for the first time in a couple seasons.  What are your expectations for the team?

Knowing the quick turn arounds of the VHLM, I would say we're looking at a decent run here.

3. The VHL is celebrating it's fourteenth birthday.  What is your favourite memory you have from one of your previous birthdays?

I wanna say it was maybe my 27th or 28th birthday? but we went to my favorite steak house, and right next door there was this divey little irish pub that would always play west coast hockey games, so we went there to get tanked after.  the two players here are Erica and Alicia, and this was the first time they were meeting.  Erica has been my absolute best friend since college, like would not be alive with out her levels of loyalty and friendship here.  Alicia is a friend of my ex whos a bit younger than the rest of us but we love her to death.  So this was maybe a year or two after the previously mentioned Ex and I broke up.  In a drunken whirl while we were outside having a cigarette, Erica starts RAILING against my ex who we've ceremoniously named "Trashbag". So Erica goes on for like 5 minutes about how much she hates this bitch, and the terrible fucking things she would do and say to her if she ever sees her again.  And at the end of the fucking maniacal rant Alicia just goes "she's like... my best friend...." and Erica just like shuts her mouth.  Drops her cigarette, and without another word goes right back into the bar and does a shot at the counter.  We were fucking absolutely losing our shit. 

4. With the world starting to open up, any big plans upcoming?

5. Who will be our biggest rival this season in my opinion?

Anyone who gets in our way.

6. Is there anything management can do (other than be more competent) for you?

And yea, you're right. Bettman was, too. When a team is consistently good in a large market, regardless of where that market is, it will succeed. That's why I think the NHL will eventually expand to Mexico City, but also put a team in Quebec to justify all the backlash. Because hockey in Quebec is as vibrant as ever, and the demanding for a team will only get stronger

As much as I fucking love the hell out of the idea of a double Mexico city/Quebec expansion, I'm not sure if Mexico is currently.... how you say.... stable enough that the NHL would realistically expand there any time soon.

I would say put a team in Austin, as was promised to the Stars when they moved to Dallas, and do Austin/Qubec at the same time.

I would say there's a better man for the job.

But that would be a fucking lie.

I would rather they lose.  I know a lot of people say they would rather the team win, but to me it's more "If we had beaten them, then no one could have stopped us"

My vote would be London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, Prauge

I honestly feel like I missed a great opportunity here.

So I feel like getting lost in Tampa's complete dismemberment of the Habs is the fact that now, all of a sudden, Tampa is the "big evil empire" of the NHL.

Doesn't this kind of validate Bettman that Hockey in the south was a good idea and worked?

I know everyone will try to point to Arizona as a failure, but that is way more on multiple ownership groups straight up not icing competitive teams.  Outside of 2012, which was honestly a bit of a miracle run, and Mike Smith playing out of his mind, I cant remember one Yotes team to actually make some noise.  Even with their years of failure, we technically have them to thank for Austin Matthews.

And outside of Arizona, This is the first year the bay area hasn't been competitive in 25 years and arguably the most successful team is the only one without a cup, Dallas has won a cup before, was in the cup final last year, and is both producing talent and attracting that talent home.  Florida has been to a cup final, and finally seem to be shaping into a legitimate franchise which is attracting big name talent.  Even Carolina has won a cup and is rounding out into what seems to be a power house.

I hate to say it cause I boo the man at every opportunity..... but Bettman was... right?
