This is good to hear, I really like the "Active only" VHLM policy. I'm happy that players like Jeevan Samuelsson aren't allowed to run roughshod on the VHLM anymore. My mistake, in my original post I meant to specify that the graduation rate of 1st-gen players should be of paramount importance when discussing the merits of VHLM GMs. Which GMs have been removed from their post for failing to do their duties (not including members who simply go inactive)?

I agree that we will eventually get to the point where we have enough members to have those full rosters, and it's certainly going to be interesting to see how the admin team handles that issue. The effect it will have on career scoring numbers will also be interesting to see, as the better/higher TPE players will have less ice-time with bigger rosters (as you said) to rack up the point totals players like Rafter & Smalling used to. I actually do remember when that happened in the S30's; the GM was Bushito right? But going back to the career-stats thing, I think HoF Voters will definitely need to adjust how they vote towards accolades and stats being impressive for each players era that they existed in (which I think they certainly will do).

[Not to say that this is the point you are making, but in my opinion] a VHLM GM's skill/success should be measured more by the VHL graduation rate of their team as opposed to Founders Cup wins. Do we have any current mechanisms or bonuses in place that reward this?

1. I really enjoyed Cabin in the Woods. I thought it was a nice twist on the genre itself while still giving a "horror" feel. 2. I'm replacing the Maple Leafs with the Oslo Screaming Seamen (look it up, it was a real VHLM team at one point). 3. Goaltender; not only do they have to stop the puck [obviously], but they also can act as a playcaller, letting their teammates know what is developing on the ice as they can see the entire rink from their position. 1. Do you think that "roleplaying" a VHL player is a lost art? As in, players method-acting as their player (whether it be serious or outlandishly hilarious) on the forums or on discord? This used to be an actual thing in the VHL. 2. Who do you think is the best GFX artist currently in the VHL? 3. Off the top of your head, how many defunct VHL/VHLM franchises do you think you could name without cheating?

Perhaps you could only win the TPE once a month or season to mitigate this?

As a self-proclaimed forum devotee in the Discord vs Forum debate, I am always looking for ways to increase in-depth league-related discourse on the forum by any means necessary. I am dating myself here, but a long time ago, the league used to ”grade” media spots and graphics on a scale of 1-6, which meant that getting a full 6 TPE wasn’t always a given. And while I agree that the removal of that system has done more good than bad, I feel that it took away a small amount of the incentive for members to consistently create high-quality Media Spots and GFX. Hence, I am proposing that we institute a “Media Spot/GFX of the Week” program in place that would award members 1 uncapped TPE to the MS and GFX that the league determines to be the best of a given week; we could have a thread every week where members would submit their work to be included in the voting for that week and then the league could vote on Sunday to determine the winner.

Did the VHL actually have full rosters (12F-6D-2G) at this time, or at least more than the VHL of old 6F-4D-1G? Was reworking TPE salary brackets considered as well?

True, but I am in agreement that the removal of the VHLe is probably better for the long-term health of the league. I mean no offense to them when I say this, but I don't believe placating to members (clickers) who aren't really bringing anything of substance to the league other than a low-earning player hitting buttons in the portal is a good way to grow the community. I would have been in favor of a free-market approach, letting the low-TPE tweeners sit unsigned in Free Agency until they earned enough TPE to be worthy of a roster spot, but I understand that my opinion may be a bit draconian on the subject, given the popularity of the Welfare Program we have (a program that I actually do like). Overall though, it seems like it was a good enough solution at the time to what was an precedented situation in the VHL.

Thank you for putting into words what I had been looking for since I rejoined the league (a full elaboration on the story of the E), having went inactive right around the early/mid S70s. I agree with all of your points in this article, and I’m happy it’s gone; it is really crazy to think that we actually had too much recruitment at one point, where were all of these clickers when Project Player Two was implemented!

https://forms.gle/fXsjTZFZCZArHZDT6 I’m currently in the process of writing a media spot detailing the statistics and accolades required to make a Hall-of-Fame player, but I’m not done compiling all of the data yet. Before I finish compiling and analyzing said data, I want to get an idea of what the general VHL public thinks. This questionnaire is regarding players only, and does not include any questions related to the Builder section of the Hall of Fame (although I supposed that would be the logical next thing to do once I complete this project). @Members

1. In the VHL? No, I don't think so, because I feel like having a large balance for the Player Store is pretty important for player development; it would also add a bit of drama to the league, which wouldn't be a terrible thing imo. 2. I'm gunna go with Helsinki, I think their three first round picks are going to be very important for them in the coming seasons, especially with the new VHLM rules affecting call-ups. 3. Technically yes, culturally no. That being said, there are certain soups that are served cold but still called soup, so idk. 1. Do you see yourself being a member of the VHL for the next 5 years? 2. What (in your opinion) is the worst current aspect of the VHL? 3. Which is your least favorite VHL franchise and why?

Very cool, I wanted to do something like this way back when I was VHLM Commish but unfortunately never had the time; what kind of viewership did this get live?
-
Yes, it plays a very small part in the overall formula.

First and foremost, I am not a heavy discord user; I have an account, but I rarely log on, and when I do, it's usually when I would get a "hey I sent you a message on Discord" message. I'm sure that this topic has likely been already discussed ad nauseum, but in my personal opinion, I feel that Discord as a whole takes away from a lot of what made the VHL so fun [for me] in the first place. When I joined the VHL in S28, Discord was still around 3 real-life years away from being released, and I feel like at that time compared to now, there was much more discourse relating to the league happening on the forums. Don't get me wrong, I think that the league is healthier than ever, and I'm willing to [begrudgingly] admit that Discord is a big factor towards that. But for example, in three locker rooms that I have access to all of the last posts were made at least a year ago. That's crazy to me! Discord Pros: Very accessible on mobile, which in conjunction with the Portal, seems to be the way that many members access the league now More personal communication. The league originally used to have a live chat feature on the website (separate from PMs), and I know that a lot of members were big fans of it Linking of various accounts across different platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, etc.) allows members to connect more than ever Discord Cons: Lack of searchability over time. Older topics and posts eventually become near-impossible to find Can be hard to "catch up" on the conversation at a given time due to the constant chat stream I understand that the adoption of Discord has greatly benefitted the league as a whole and that it isn't going anywhere anytime soon, but I do miss the early days of my VHL career where the league discussion felt much more centralized than it does now.
