  1. 1. I was not here all season but we killed it at the end 2. Not sure, maybe a real blowout victory could spark the boys. Obviously it's a sim so not great chances but a huge game from a rookie or something could get us going 3. I didn't really have any 4. Nothing, I hate the offseason lol 5. I play Hockey mainly at my college and then in the offseason I do boxing 6. Have not, maybe I will one of these days
  2. I've always viewed GMs differently because I still feel as though I'm a pretty good GM. Anyone with eyes can see that once my activity dipped and Davos wasn't getting any better I sort of stopped trying. I still feel like 100% trying Shawn is still a good GM. I doubt I'll ever get a GM role again but it's why I've always viewed people with important jobs in a different light because I've been there myself
  3. You probably got PTSD flashbacks just from the title, but don't worry. If you're new, I probably don't need an introduction, I'm that guy. I made a name for myself by being one of the fastest up and comers on the site and looked like I was headed for VHL greatness, until I threw it all away and became one of VHL's most hated and made fun of members. As you can tell by the title, today is my 3 year anniversary since joining the VHL. Last year for my 2 year article, I did a lot of bashing, but I'm going completely off-brand here and making an article on what I like about the site. - The "leaders" are always welcoming. I've tarnished any reputation I ever imagined having here, and quite honestly it was well deserved. However one thing I've come to appreciate is how welcoming and (more or less) understanding when it comes to sensitive topics such as mine. I cannot count the number of times I've told Quik, Bana, Beaviss, fong, Josh, and others that I've been considering a VHL return and to my surprise, every time I've been met with nothing but positivity. Every time I'm encouraged to recreate and re-immerse myself in the community. Understandably, I have become Trifecta 2.0 so there are always questions about my activity and whether I can stay committed, but even when I lie through my teeth and claim that I'm back for real this time, they still support me. Now each of these people I've mentioned, I've beefed with at some point or another, but I can really appreciate how the leaders in this community can make you feel good and encourage you to do great things even when sometimes you don't deserve it. - A lot of people are really forgiving. This kind of goes hand in hand with my last point, and sometimes I hate to admit it but a lot of people here are very deserving. I've had more than my fair share of battles with people where words are hurled and nothing good comes out of it. Yet a huge example comes to mind where last summer I apologized to quite a few people who I had bickered with for months, and I received 100% positive responses. A great example was how me and Doomsday would fight on a daily basis on the forums, discord, LRs, you name it. I don't think I've used stronger words towards someone more than I have with doomsday, yet I PM'd one day apologizing for everything, and hoping for forgiveness. Of course doomsday being the stand-up guy he is, not only accepted my apology, but offered to work together on a few VHL projects. Fast forward not even a year later, I chose to sign with the VHLM team he manages, and now we talk daily like nothing ever happened. And Doomsday is not an isolated case, just off the top of my head I can remember apologizing to Sonnet, Dil, Nyko, diamond_ace, and a few others. These are people I've said some pretty vile things to and still ended up on decent terms with them. - Admittedly, I was proven wrong about GMs and jobs. One of the biggest claims I've ever had on the site were that jobs were a popularity contest and that GMs suck at what they do. After actually interacting with people over the last few months, I'll admit I was wrong about GMs. While there are obviously some GMs who could use some more spring training, there's no way around that but yknow what, they're (hopefully) trying their best and that's all you can ask for. I've always looked at GMs through a different lens because they are arguably the front line of this league. They are the first ones you meet and the ones you spend the rest of your career with, so while they definitely are open to more judgement than normal members, I did truthfully criticize way too much and I'm sorry about that. Turns out, a lot of GMs are nice people who are more than willing to just chill and chat with you. Again, I do think there are a few GMs who I'm not fans of, but I don't see the behind the scenes of their work and there's a good chance I'm in the minority, so who cares what I think? I used to hate Gustav with everything I have when I lost my GM job to someone from the "meme crowd" and while he still gets meme'd he's actually a pretty decent guy who has repeatedly stuck up for me when I was always rude to him and he's always willing to help others. Hopefully I get to watch him win a cup with Davos. Jobs, I still feel somewhat the same about but I definitely have a new perspective on it. While I do feel like some jobs are given out in a "first come, first serve" type manner, I know that's obviously not the case and I know that the people in charge are doing what they think is right, and you can't blame em for that. I've learned to just accept the process and trust it. -Dark theme option. - Growing playerbase. I've always felt weird about this one as I don't like change and I talk so much about missing the good ol days when it was a small, tight knit community. I do miss the small community vibes, but at my core I want to see the VHL succeed and grow, and that's exactly what it's doing. It's hard not to appreciate the effort of the recruiters and VHLM GMs when the league has grown 5x as big compared to when I joined in 2018. I mean I joined the site in S61, and we're in in S80 almost. Time feels like it's flying but also moving at a snails pace at the same time. What blows my mind the most though, was when I joined it was near impossible to find someone still around from say S40, but even coming back to the VHL, the most active people from like S63 are still the most active a whole 16 seasons later (woah, that was 16 seasons ago? Jesus). I'll always have a soft spot for those who first welcomed me into the league and are still around because VHL burnout is a very real thing and sometimes these guys don't get the credit they deserve for sticking with it for so long and growing the community every day. That's really it for this article, I'm sure there's a lot more I'm thankful of but I'm tired and the ideas have stopped flowing. 4. 1. I think it's gonna be the difference. Our new additions have been contributing right away so it's nice to see 2. Not too many big names I don't think but I think that'll make it a very front heavy draft for the VHL 3. I would hope not, as I've always had the "VHL or bust" mentality but whatever happens just happens i guess 4. My heart says Fuck the Habs and I want them to win but my head says Vegas 5. It's going to depend on the blue line additions to carry us over the hump. It'll be tough to leapfrog the top teams but with our new players I think we can do it 6. Work lol
  5. Shawn Glade V scores his first career goal in the VHLM Just days after announcing his signing with the Saskatoon Wild of the VHLM, Shawn Glade V would make a statement in his first week with the team. SG5's first 4 games with the team shows Saskatoon just a glimpse of what they're getting in this true two-way defenseman, as he would block 9 shots with 3 hits and is thus far an amazing +7. What really made the week special however, was SG5 would tally his first career goal and point in his VHLM debut against the Las Vegas Aces. In the first period, a faceoff was held in neutral ice, and sooner than later, the Wild found themselves in the offensive zone, as Dekster Jankowski's shot was blocked by a defenseman, and Shawn Glade V pounced on the rebound to put the Wild up by two, just 9 seconds after their opening goal. SG5 wasn't done there though, as the Wild's next game, he would notch an assist to earn his second point in as many games in the VHLM. Promising start for a promising player in the minors.
  6. If he's anything like his dad, I'm shook and there won't be enough points to go around
  7. Disclaimer: This is a fictional story about my retired VHL player. Me as a person, I'm fine and very much alive The Glade family regrets to inform the VHL that star defenseman Shawn Glade has sadly passed away in the early hours of June 15th from a reported heart attack. The news comes just hours after Shawn Glade V announced his signing with the VHLM's Saskatoon Wild. SG5 is expected to join the team after funeral processions and a period of mourning. The family has asked for privacy in this difficult time. Shawn Glade was a standout defenseman in both the VHLM and the VHL. Starting his career with the Halifax 21st in the minors, Glade would win the goal scoring race as a defenseman en route to a finals appearance in Halifax's inaugural season. Despite leaving the minors without winning any hardware, he quickly set his sights on the VHL, where Glade was drafted 11th overall by the Riga Reign in the S62 entry draft. As a rookie, he put up respectable numbers with reserved minutes as Riga would go on to win the Continental Cup in Glade's rookie campaign. Glade would have two stints with Davos, neither of which yielded much, but it was the tail end of Glade's career that would put him on the map. Being traded to the Wolves, Glade would be a cornerstone piece in the Vancouver Wolves winning the S67 Continental Cup. It was rumored that Glade was ready to retire after that season to go out on top, but was pursuaded to give it one last hoorah with a new team. Joining the Bears for S68 was the best decision Glade would make. He would have the best season of his entire career and be an anchor on the blue line as Seattle would march on to win the first cup of their dynasty run. It would mark SG's third continental cup, and second in a row as the defenseman called it a career a few weeks after the win. Upon his retiring, Glade had played in 6 cup finals in the VHL and won 3 cups, while also holding the all-time record for most playoff goals scored by a defenseman in a career at 25. Despite not being inducted to the VHL HOF, Glade had made his impact on the league, and made his case for one of the best true two-way defensemen of all time. Glade would go on to have his number retired in Haliax following his retirement, as the dman had set Halifax up on the fast track for stardom and to this day has been one of the best defenseman to ever lace them up for Halifax. He ushered in a new wave of talent on the blue line, particularly that of elite playmakers who aren't afraid to throw the body and trap it up in their own end. In the end, Glade sacrificed personal stats for team gain, as he never won any scoring race or any individual awards, but 3 cups isn't something you see too often. It's a sad day in the VHL world as we say goodbye to one of the best VHL defensemen in recent memory.
  8. I can't believe I just now saw this. I don't wanna open another can of worms here because what's in the past, is in the past. Look, I can't be bothered to look up my old article and see what I wrote so I'll have to just guess based on your article. Yeah, probably pretty silly to make my article. It was a bit ago so I don't exactly why I wrote it, maybe I had a bad day or something set me off, idk. What I'll say is I definitely did make a mistake, and apologize to anyone I hurt or offended or just annoyed with the article. While I still somewhat agree what what I (probably) wrote, I feel confident in saying I prolly would not air it out in such a way again because either I don't feel as strongly or because words hurt, idk. Regardless I still feel like this is extremely aggressive and honestly just rude. I get it, my words were harsh too but I never singled anybody out as a piece of shit. The reason why I've had poor activity is not only because I get wrapped up in stuff like this, but because I was battling a head injury and depression at the time of the article. I'm not saying this for pity or whatever because I don't it, but you have to realize I have my reasons for weird activity. Now I understand activity isn't the main issue here, it's my article. I'm not a dumbass, nor have as big of an ego as you say I do. I can admit when I make a mistake and this is one of those times like I said, but I really wish this was done in a more.......constructive way. But who knows, you probably don't care anymore and neither do I
  9. Tough to see Halifax not make an offer, I'm a guaranteed Halifax signee every time, but good minutes and a cup run don't sound too shabby #SaskyBois
  10. Shawn Glade V Junior Review Shawn Glade V taking a shot against the St Louis Jr. Blues Growing up just south of Denver, Colorado, Shawn Glade V has been a star since his early minor hockey days. Small for a typical defenseman, SG5 had to learn how to use his offensive and speed to beat opponents rather than try to outpower them. His father SG4 retired early into his hockey career, leaving SG5 in the spotlight as the next big thing from the Shawn Glade family bloodline. SG1 was one of the best defensemen in the league when it came to playing in the VHLM and VHL, leaving behind lofty expectations for future generations. However, SG5 has shown to be a different breed. He was originally a forward all through bantams, however his skating was shown to be world class at a young age, so his 16U coach switched him to defense, where he would thrive and set himself up real nicely for a great career. Growing up, SG5 played in the Colorado Jr. Avalanche minor hockey system, where he would regularly shine as a top talent in the league. Due to his father's health ending his hockey career early into his VHL days, SG5 has been in the VHL's spotlight for years as the league eagerly awaits it's next generational defenseman. It might be early to say, but this special young player might be the best defenseman the VHL has seen in a while. SG5 regularly shelled opponents with his quick feet and elite hands while always shutting the door on the blueline. In his 16U days, his coach wanted him to bulk up, so SG5 put on 10 whole pounds on pure muscle in a year and was able to play a much more physically demanding playstyle. When SG5 moved up to 18U, he played Varsity for Douglass County Highschool in Castle Rock, Colorado. At Douglass, he would, quickly rise to the occasion and put on a clinic in the Colorado High School Hockey scene. He led his team to a Division 1A championship as the number 1 defenseman in the state tournament at just 17 years old. Shortly after this victory, SG5 was selected to team USA in the 18U World Championships, where he would play decent minutes as USA captured a bronze medal in Sweden. Entering his final year of highschool, SG5 had college offers coming in from around the country, most notably UND. However, SG5 would make a move that would shock the hockey landscape and decline all of his NCAA Division 1 offers. He was quoted saying "I appreciate the opportunity these schools have given me and the confidence they have in me, but I want to follow in my family's footsteps and declare for the VHL draft." After finishing his senior year of highschool, he would do just that, as SG5 announced he was available to sign for any team in the VHLM for a playoff run. Where his career takes him we will find out, but any team picking him up is going to be very happy to have him around.

  18. I've played for some great GMs, mainly just Beaviss and Bana my entire time on the site so I've always had a soft spot for Seattle and Vancouver, but man my funnest moments were when I played on these teams. Winning it all with Seattle in SG's last season is probably my favorite moment of all time in the VHL
