  1. Now that we are past the hallway mark in the season it's time to compare Alessando Nano's first full VHLM season to his father. Although both are different types of defenseman it will still be fun to see how they stack up against each other. So far this season Alessando has played 47 games and has scored 5 goals and 32 assists. The non scoring related stats for Alessando are 102 PIMS, 170 hits, 64 shot blocks and 68 shots on goal. Paolo was not a physical player so Alessandro probably has him beat in hits and PIMS already but time to check out dads stats. Paolo scored 14 goals and 26 assists so Alessando almost has dad beat already in points. Alessandro is unlikely to catch dad in goals as he would need to score 9 more but hes almost certain to pass him in almost everything else. Alessandro has surpassed dad in PIMS and hits which was expected before looking at the stats. Paolo had 128 shots in that first season while Alessando is on pace for 104 shots so he would need to start shooting the puck at a much higher rate. Paolo had 94 shots blocked in his season while Alessando is on pace for 98 and it looks like that will be a close race. So it looks like Alessando will improve on most of his dads stats except for shots on goal and goals.
  2. Alessandro Nano D 6'2 210 pounds Alessandro Nano is in his VHL draft year after being selected overall in the VHLM draft this past offseason which surprised alot of people as he was expected to go lower. Going into his VHL draft, Alessandro currently is ranked 8th overall and the second highest defenseman. Alessandro is the son of former VHLer Paolo Nano who spent most of his career in Moscow who was an offensive defenseman. Pros Checking Checking is one of the stronger parts of Alessandro's game. He isn't afraid to take his man out with a big body check. As of this report Alessando sits 4th in the VHLM in hitting, sitting behind 3 Mississauga players who seem to hit everything that moves. Defense As a defense first type of dman, this is another aspect of Alessandro's game that will take him to the next level. He uses his smart positioning and decision making to cut down on the space opposing towards have in the offensive zone. Passing Passing is one of the stronger non defensive related skills that Alessando possesses. Hes not gonna be an elite offensive dman but he has a good first pass that can help his team breakout. He has 30 assists so far this season in the VHL with just 5 goals so he's going to be more of a playmaker than a finisher from the Blueline. His passing is rated at 60 which is pretty good for a VHLM defenseman. Cons Discipline Because of Alessandro's physical play on the ice he takes alot of penalties. This is a major downside of his game as he is a defensive defenseman he's the one that should be out there killing penalties instead of taking them. That said, there should be no correlation from checking to penalty minutes but for some reason referees call more penalties on guys that hit and let the weaker players get away with murder. Scoring Alessandro doesn't have the greatest shot from the Blueline and is more of a passing type defenseman. With just 5 goals so far this season on 64 shots he's definitely not a goal scorer. He has been rated 70 in the scoring which ranks him 4th on the mauraders in that category. Alessandro does just enough to get by in the offensive end. Skating Alessandro isn't the greatest skater and that's definitely something he needs to work on. His skating has been graded at 70 overall which again thanks him 4th in that category. He doesn't join the rush so he doesn't need that too end speed that offensive defenseman need but he still needs to work on his skating to have more success in his career.
  3. 1. The team has made a lot of moves so far this season. Are you happy with them or you indifferent? Happy with them as they seem to be working. We have been playing great so the moves are great 2. The team has come alive and we are rocketing to the top of the standings. Are you surprised by this? No, I knew we would do well once we developed some chemistry as we have a great group here. 3. Tomorrow we will play game 36 which will mark us making it halfway through the season.. Are you satisfied with your performance thus far? Yes I am playing better offensively lately and I am continue to make myself felt on the ice with my physical play. 4. Trivia is back and is not dead! Are you excited to not have to do an extra task now that trivia is here? Yes love that 2 TPE 5. Are there any more moves you think the team should make or are we already destined to win the cup with the current roster? I think we are destined for the cup now but whatever management feels is necessary im all for. 6. Have you been thinking about your future past this season and if so what are you most excited for? I am excited to see where I go in the VHL draft and excited to try out the VHLE one day.
  4. Alessandro Nano had by far his best game of his career so far in the mauraders destroying the Ottawa Lynx. Nano had a goal and 3 assists in the 5-1 victory which earned him first star. Nano is not known for his offensive output as with 5 goals and 18 assists that one game accounts for 17% of his point totals. What he is known for is his tough physical play as he leads the league in penalties and sits 4th in hits. The Miami Mauraders absolutely crushed Ottawa outshooting them 41-8. The game started off slowly as period one went scoreless with the shots 7-1 for Miami. The second period is where the offensive started into high gear for the mauraders but wouldnt reach its peak until the third. Mikey Markov opened the scoring with a powerplay goal at 6:16 which was equaled by a Lynx powerplay goal at 15:49. Less than a min later Kevin hard gave the mauraders a lead and they wouldn't look back. Nano scores the first of Miami 3 third period goals that were just a minute and 57 apart. The final goal of the game was the only goal Nano was not a part of as Barry bonds jr scored his 7th of the season on the powerplay.
  5. 1. The team seems to have really picked up the pace. Do you think that's because of one player or a overall team improvement? I think it's overall team improvement and guys developing chemistry with each other 2. We made a trade recently. Do you think this trade is going to help the team win a cup? Yes for sure. We are playing some good hockey now and we will only get better. 3. We are just over a quarter of the way through the season. Have you been performing the way you expected so far? Yes I think I have been playing well, much better lately. As a hitting defenseman it's good to be in the top 5 and I'm getting more points lately. 4. Do you think the team should make any more trades to help put the team over the edge? I think we have a great team here but if management thinks we need an improvement I am all for it. Just hope it's not me going the other way. 5. Our GM just announced he's retiring from the VHLM after 17 season down here. Is there anything you want to tell him? It's been great playing for you even if just a short time. Maybe we meet again in the VHLE. 6. With the GM retiring there will be an open administrative spot here in Miami. Are going to apply or stick to being a player only? Nope, just a player only for me
  6. 1. Season has begun! Are you happy with your performance in this first week? No not really. Had a great first game and then had a cold streak. 2. Did you have any pre game nerves prior to the season opener? No, just very excited to be playing again. 3. How are you getting along with the team? We have a great group and guys are great even if I don't say much. 4. We're off to a slow start...Do you think we turn this around quickly? For sure we just need time to develop some chemistry 5. What is your biggest dream? To win multiple cups. 6. When did you first learn to skate? 3 years old on the Moscow ice while my dad played there.
  7. Alessandro Nano has cooled off after a great first game of th season. In game one Alessando had a goal and assists but he went pointless in his next 4 games. Alessandro is more of a defensive defenseman but going pointless in 4 straight games is something that he'd needs to change. His goal is to get a point every other game so with 2 points in 5 games he's not far off but he was hoping to build on the first game. Alessando was minus 1 in that first game and hes now even on the season which is a positive. Although many don't believe that plus minus is a very relevant stat anymore for a defense first player it has a little more meaning. Alessandro now has 18 hits and 12 shot blocks on the year. Those are stats that Alessando takes pride in and he hopes to become a leader in those one day as he sits jut behind the top 10 in both categories by one. The mauraders have only played 5 games however with the top 10 players having played 6 so he could very well join the top 10 soon.
  8. 1. With this week being the start of the new season what are your expectations for the team? To win the cup, everyone wants to win and hopefully we can make that happen in Miami. 2. What are your personal goals for this season? To outscore my father who had 14 goals and 26 assists in his first full season. Also better beat his -53. 3. What team in the VHLM do you think will win the cup this season? Miami, until proven otherwise I think we can win. 4. You just received a new AGM...Do you run him out of town ASAP? I'm new too so may as well give him a shot. 5. What pieces do you think the team is missing? I don't know, we seem to have a great team so maybe just missing the chemistry to start. 6. What part of your game will you work on the most this season? Probably my offensive side as my physical and defensive side are decent but need a bit more offense to be a better player.
  9. Alessandro Nano was selected second in the VHLM dispersal draft by the Miami Mauraders, which is alot higher than his father who was drafted in the third round, 18 overall. Many in the VHL world think Alessando has more potential than his father and it will be interesting to see if the son can become a better player than his father. Alessandro in his young career has played in a number of countries and cities. He started playing hockey in Italy and then moved over to Moscow to develop his game once he started to take hockey seriously. It's unusual for an Italian to play in Moscow but his father played many seasons there so he used his contacts to further his sons chances at a professional hockey career. Alessando then left Moscow to go to Saskatoon as a free agent to play for the wild, the same team Paolo signed with when he joined the VHLM as a free agent . That's where the similarities end as Paolo was drafted by Oslo who doesn't exist in the VHLM while Alessando waa drafted by Miami. So far in his hockey career, Alessando has played in Italy, Russia , Canada and now the United States. He's likely gonna play in the VHLM next season or two so he's going to add another country to that list. Alessandro has now started his first VHLM season as a Maurader and his first full season. Alessandro expects to produce a ton more this season after getting his feet wet last season with the Saskatoon wild. Last season Alessando had just 1 goal and 2 assists in 18 games for the wild. He also had 23 hits and 30 shot blocks while being a minus 4. With those kind of numbers it won't be hard to top them even if you project those numbers across a full season. That means he would score 4 goals and 8 assists in a full season. So far this season Alessando has played one game and almost matched his total from last season as he had a goal and an assist. Now that we looked at his totals last season and it's almost a certainty that he will surpass his full season projected numbers it's time to see what he needs to do to surpass his dad's first VHLM season totals. In Paolo's first full VHLM season he scored 14 goals and 26 assists. That is something that Alessando can match or even surpass as it's almost a point every other game which Alessando can accomplish. As it's too early in the season it's hard to determine how likely that is. In his first full season Paolo was a horrible -53 and that is something that Alessando has a great chance of bettering. Alessando is also a more physical player so he should easily be able to top Paolo's 50 hits. Paolo scored most of his goals on the powerplay with 12 and it will be interesting to see how Alessando does on that category but his goal this season was on the powerplay. The last thing we can compare Alessando to his dad is in his VHL draft position. Paolo was drafted 19th overall while Alessando is currently ranked 11th overall and the fourth highest ranked defenseman.

  13. 1. After winning our 1st cup in franchise history, where does the team go from here? I would love to see you guys repeat. As uhtred is retired I don't have a VHL team until my next player is drafted and until then go Warsaw. 2. Describe former Warsaw GM @.sniffuM's tenure in 3 words. An amazing GM. Loved playing for him. 4. Is there a city that you thought deserved a VHLE franchise? If so, why them? Rome as my next player is Italian and would have loved to play at home. Too many Scandinavian teams to be honest. 6. Where do you plan on taking the Continental Cup on your "day with the cup" this offseason? Back to the castle in bebbanburg. Have a great party in a castle could be a first in the VHL. 7. What is the best midnight snack? McDonald's is always a great midnight snack. 8. Dogs or Cats? Or Both? Or Neither?! I'll go both but don't want either at this point in my life. 9. NBA Finals. Suns lead the Bucks 2-1 at the time of writing. Who wins? Bucks are up 3-2 and will go with them to see Giannis win.
  14. Uhtred won his first individual award of his career in his final season as he was won the Daisuke Kanou trophy which is the continental playoff MVP. This is the only award of uhtreds career but he will retire back to bebbanburg with a pretty full trophy case. One major disappointment in uhtreds career however is that he was never able to win a world cup and was unable to join the triple gold club. Uhtred has played in a few world cups but was unable to win the gold medal. Uhtred won his first trophy in his first year as professional hockey player with a founders cup win with the Saskatoon wild. Uhtred then won a couple of Continental cups with Seattle in addition to a victory cup. The last continental cup and victory cup and was won by uhtred in season 73 and at that point he had 2 continental cups, a founders cup and a vitoryy cup. At that stage in his career he was a champion every other season. After that uhtred went 4 seasons with up to a troohy until winning the victory cup with Warsaw in season 77. That was just a precursor to season 78 where uhtred won his final contental cup bringing his career total to 3. At the end of his career hes managed 3 continental cups, 2 victory cups, a founders cup and a Daisuke Kanou award. Thus his biggest disappointment is not joining the triple gold club.
  15. Uhtred played one of his best games in the last game if his career. Uhtred announced his retirement earlier in the season and then was determined to finish his career with a cup. Uhtred did just that as a first star performance in game 6 helped Warsaw to their first ever continental cup and uhdtreds third and final cup. The Bears opened up the scoring but then it was almost all predators after. Uhtred had 2 goals and assists in the game. "It feels great to retire as a champion. I gave it my all this season and I'm so happy and proud of the guys. I had dreamed of scoring the cup winning goal to end my career and I came close but the cup is all that really matters." Uhtred had be far his best post season of his career. Uhtred ended the playoffs with 15 goals and 16 assists in 17 games. Those 31 points matches his last 2 playoffs combined. Uhtred lead the playoffs in goals by 2 over teammates glass and Lamb. The 31 points had uhtred finishing second in scoring 3 behind teammate Lamb. Uhtred will now return to bebbanburg to begin his post VHL life after the world cup.
  16. 1. We just won the first cup in franchise history. WARSAW WHERE YOU AT??? uhtred Celebrating like this. Best way to end a career. I don't think my other players will ever win as much as uhtred. 5. What is your favorite fruit? I will go with apples, they are great on there own but also make for the best pies. 6. What shape pasta is best? I'll go with Penne as my go to pasta. Another underated one is bucatini. 8. If every day of the week got into a fight who would win? Definitely Monday. Monday's are bastards and will always kick every other days ass. 9. Would you rather be too cold or too hot? Too cold as you can just throw some more layers on or a blanket. There's not much you can do when too hot other than finding some body of water to jump in. That said summer still better than winter. 10. What was the most hype moment of our season? (this one's a freebie ) It's amazing to end a season with a cup. We finally won it after being favourites the past few seasons and now Uhtred rides off into the sunset
  17. Great way to cap off a career. Probably won't have another player that wins as much as uhtred.
  18. Alessandro Nano was born in Moscow while his dad Paolo played for the then expansion team. Normally Italians aren't very interested in hockey but with Alessandro growing up in Moscow he was surrounded by the game plus he wanted to be just like dad. Alessando started his hockey career playing in the Bolzano minor system where his father's career began . However once Alessandro was serious about hockey the Nanos decided to spend winters in Moscow so that Alessandro could get the best hockey education possible. With Paolo's contacts in Russia and the fact that hockey isn't that important in Italy it was only inevitable that he'd end up in Moscow. Sure it would be great to grow up in warm southern Italy or stay up north in Bolzano where you don't get the brutal Russian winters but Alessandro wanted to play hockey so off to Russia they went with summers spent training in the beautiful Amalfi coast in Italy. After leaving Italy for Russia, Alessandro played in the Russian junior league for the Krasnaya Armiya or the Red Army who are the affiliates of CSKA Moscow. The Red Army has shaped Alessandro into the player he is today. He's a defenseman like his father however that is where the similarities end as Paolo was more of a softer offensive player where as Alessandro is a physical defenseman who isn't afraid to make the pass to start a breakout. Alessandro started out playing like his father as a player who rarely hit until one day he got pissed off and started to throw his weight around. After hitting a few players he fell in love with that part of the game. Alessandro has always lead his team in both hits and penalty minutes but in his final season in Moscow he lead the whole league in those categories. He also had his best offensive performance of his junior career finishing in the top 5 in scoring for a defenseman. Alessandro's excellent play led to a championship for the Red Army as he was named MVP and even scored the cup winning goal which was surprising as he doesn't score too many . After the success in Moscow, Alessandro decided to take the next career step and play in the VHLM. He chose to play with the Saskatoon wild as that's where his father started his career and he has always wanted to be like dad but with a physical presence. Alessandro hopes to one day make the VHL and win the continental cup, something that eluded his father as Moscow won it just after Paolo's retirement. But before Alessando can make that step we will need to see how his VHLM career progresses and then likely on to the new VHLE league
  19. 1. We survived an early scare from Malmo to take the series 4-1. How do we stay fresh going up against Prague in the European Conference finals? Take one game at a time and focus on what we do best, filling the back of the net. 3. Who was our MVP in the Malmo series? I'll go with Uhtred and lamb Co-MVP. Both had 14 points. 4. Do you prefer your ice cubed or crushed? Cubed. Fridge has crushed setting but never use it 5. Which VHLE locations would you most prefer to see selected? Rome as my next player is Italian so he can't potentially play at home. 8. What's the deal with "cubed" ice from fridge dispensers being shaped like semicircles??? Do they really expect us to believe this piece of ice shaped like a goddamn orange slice is a cube?? Lol never really thought about that. No I will never not see it 10. What is your favorite hot beverage? Coffee or espresso are the best.
  20. I'd say 95% of leaf fans knew they would choke is correct as once they lost game 6 it was over.
  21. Alessandro scored his ever goal as pro fittingly on fathers day. Alessandro is the son of former Moscow defenseman Paolo Nano and he's currently following in his father's footsteps. Both Alessandro and Paolo signed with Saskatoon prior to their VHLM draft. They are both defenseman but Alessandro looks like he may be more of a physical player than his father was. Alessandro got his first career goal on the powerplay against the Minnesota Strom at 15:45 of the first period. Griff Mackenzie won the face-off to linemate Duncan Montana who sent it back to Nano who had the space for a Slapshot and blasted it by Dexter Vaughn. The wild will hope to see Nano score more goals against the Strom as they are matched up in the first round of the playoffs. Alessandro finished his first partial season in the VHLM scoring 1 goal and 2 assists in 18 games. He also recorded 12 shots, 16 penalty minutes with 23 hits and 30 blocks.
