    1) To be honest if not for a great newsletter I'd be really lost. There are opportunities for TPE left and right and I'm used to one subforum system for point tasks, activity check and weekly training system. It's very easy to miss stuff.1) What are your thoughts on the league thus far?
    2) Which VHLM team would you like to be a part of next season? (Can find the current VHLM teams here)
    3) What are the long-term goals for your player?
    4) Who from the NHL would you compare your VHL player to?
    5) How did you arrive at your choice for your player's name?
    6) What attribute(s) do you think you will be focusing on first with your player?

    2) Ottawa Lynx is the only team to reach out so I'd be delighted to join them
    3) To win as much as possible and leave a legacy of a team player.
    4) That's hard because I hardly follow NHL outside of occasional playoffs matchup. I guess some Polish player - either Krzysztof Oliwa or Joe Jerwa.
    5) Look above - just changed a name and kept the surname of historical player.
    6) Defence, Skating and Passing. I'm not after big stats and these should be great in aiding team success.

Both VHL and VHLM have plenty of postseason heroes already, but let's focus on the league I'm not going to be part for some time yet.

A lot of players in VHL averaged over a point a game which is excellent:
1    Matt Thompson    9    22 2    Jack Shephard    9    21 3    Maxim Kovalchuk    9    18 4    Vyacheslav Smirnov    9    17 5    Keaton Louth    9    14 6    Mats Johnsson    9    14 7    Jasper Canmore    9    14 8    Gabriel McAllister    7    13 9    Niko Bogdanovic    9    13 10    The Charm    7    12 Especially top players - Matt Thompson for Seattle Bears and Jack Shephard playing for the same team taken the league by the storm. It would be really nice to join them in the future with such gaudy numbers. What is interesting that neither is a good passer and both were net negatives so far, as always there are two sides to each coin.
What is really surprising to me is that we can observe two rookies following them. Maxim Kovalchuk and Vyacheslav Smirnov also play for Seattle Bears and joined the scoring spree.

You won't see them in +/- category where the leader is Mats Johnsson of Calgary Wranglers.

Among goalies the best one is Tristan Iseult from Quebec City Meute, leading them in Save Percentage and GAA, even recording Shutout.

Other players that stand out among Quebec City Meute are two representatives leading the league in hits Sergei Komarov and Luc-Pierre Lespineau-Lebrunette.

Maxim Kovalchuk not only led rookies in scoring but also blocked a ton of shots - 43 so far.

majesiu got a reaction from Tagger in Who is Piotr Jerwa?
One of the newest players in VHL is coming from a country, Poland, that already saw some players in recent times especially really good looking right winger Wlodzimierz Zajaczkowski (recent playoff hero) and recent bust defenseman that quickly given up on his career across the ocean Jarosław Wolski. Piotr plans to be more like the former and already starting working hard. Unfortunately, his delayed arrival resulted in only signing a short contract with Oslo Storm, which is very helpful though, giving him some needed financial stability and place to prepare for the upcoming S63 VHLM Draft. he'll surely remember that gesture from the Storm side.
What can you expect of Jerwa? He is going to be defense first player, focusing on his intangibles and perfect positioning, not necessarily hunting for hits. He is a decent skater and on offense, he is that much more likely to move the puck than to seek individual scoring opportunities. Being properly motivated this time around you can count on his constant improvement and strive for perfection!

Hi there and welcome to another edition of the VHLM Newsletter, a series of articles that will be posted on the VHL forums every Tuesday to let you know exactly what’s going on in the league, how you can earn more points for your player and some extra tips to help you on your way!

As always, I’d like to kick things off by telling you all about the VHL Discord. A lot of you are already in this and can probably attest to how helpful it’s been, but if you aren’t in it already you should definitely give it a shot, especially if you have any questions about the league as that will be the quickest place to get them answered! Like the last VHLM Newsletter, some of this newsletter will re-tread on old ground as, with this being a VHLM newsletter, there will inevitably be new members reading this for the first time that won’t be aware of what was in previous newsletters. So what I’ll do is put a bold *NEW* next to any information specifically made for this newsletter so players who have read these before know where to go to find the new info!

Name that Brand – Uncapped TPE Opportunity *NEW*

A new point earning opportunity has come up that will allow you to earn some uncapped TPE for your player! If you go to the Name That Brand page in the Announcements forum, and come up with made-up brand ideas for the VHL along with a quick blurb to go with each and we will grant you with some TPE; one for every one that you suggest to a maximum of 3 TPE!

    VHLM Achievement Tracker

The VHLM Achievement Tracker is still open to submissions HERE if you haven’t already submitted for it! Analyse the templates used in the top post, compare them to your stats and select the 2 attributes (not required if you’re a goalie) that will get you the most TPE. If you haven’t performed that great this season, don’t worry; any player’s tracker that adds up to below 10 TPE will be rounded up to 10 TPE!

(Note: This is only available to players who are eligible for the Season 63 VHL Draft or have already been selected in a VHL Draft. Season 64 VHL Draftees are not eligible)

    VHLM Magazine *NEW*

The fourth edition of the VHLM Magazine has been submitted and it’s got a huge amount of content this week! You can read the magazine HERE and if you want to be alerted as soon as the next magazine is available, you can subscribe HERE

    The VHLM Playoffs *NEW*

We’ve played four games in the best-of-seven Semi Final series thus far and we’ve already got one team who has secured their place in the Final and another team just one win away from joining them!

To kick things off with a recap of the start of the playoffs though, we kicked off with the Wildcard round between the Oslo Storm and the Saskatoon Wild to see who would progress into the Semi Finals to play the Halifax 21st. While the Storm were the team who entered the playoffs with the best record, the Wild wound up winning the series in five games, rounding off the series in four straight victories after an opening 5-2 loss, which saw Kisshan Shan star with a two goal performance. Despite playing for less that ten minutes in game two Wlodzimierz Zajaczkowski managed to record two goals, one assist and a first star performance in game two of the series. Despite a two goal effort from Paolo Nano and Oslo having nine more shots that Saskatoon in game four, they wound up on the wrong side of a 6-5 scoreline. The series ended with a 3-1 victory for the Wild, and a strong performance by Kevin Weekes, recording a .960 save percentage.

Unfortunately for the Wild, the rest of their playoff journey was predictably short as they were comfortably taken care of by the Halifax 21st in the Semi Finals in a four game sweep. Saskatoon didn’t trouble the Halifax goalie Cole Mertz with too many shots in the series as he never faced more than twenty shots in a game. However he was able to deal with the ones that did come his way comfortably enough, recording an over .900 save percentage in three of the four games. The surprise top scorer in the series for the 21st was Nikita Flipachyev, who scored four times and provided three assists, despite having been moved off of the first line to make room for the rapidly improving Rylan Peace. Former Wild men Dylan Nguyen and Ryuu Crimson were close behind with six points each alongside Anthony Dabarno.

The Halifax 21st will go on to face the winner of the Ottawa Lynx – Las Vegas Aces series, which currently is leaning in favour of the Canadian team who are leading the series 3-1. Thanks to some stout defense from both teams, there haven’t been many shots at all this series (The most shots in one game was 40 combined, for comparison the 21st on their own recorded 70 shots in one game in their series with the Wild), however given the low shots numbers, both teams were the wrong end of some surprisingly large score-lines. In game two, the Lynx put five past Alexander Pepper, despite only taking 22 shots in a 5-1 victory while game three saw the same scoreline in the Aces favour despite only having 21 shots at Kallis Kriketers goal (Scott Shawinganen had an impressive three point performance that game as well). Ultimately though the series so far has come down to who can win the close games and thus far, it’s been the Lynx who’ve ground out the most wins, their latest victory in game four coming courtesy of a Ryan Kastelic game winning goal in overtime. Outside of the games where they conceded five, both Kriketers and Pepper have had very strong performances, both putting up over .900 in three of their four games played in the series.

For this instance of the trivia, I’ve actually acquired all four possible questions, so if you’ve already submitted for a question, but you don’t know the answer, you’ll definitely be able to find the help you need here.

1a. Who was the first VHL GM to ever win back-to-back Continental Cups?

If you go to the VHL All-Time GM page, you’ll see that there are gold and red season numbers next to certain GM’s names. The red number indicates times they’ve won GMoTY while the gold numbers indicate Continental Cup victories, so best way to find out which one repeated would be to run through this list and check the gold numbers.

2a. Who was the first goalie to be the Playoff MVP?

To find this, go to the Playoff MVP trophy page and find the earliest instance of a player recording goalie stats for the award.

3a. Who was the first Hall of Fame Builder that had never been a VHL General Manager at the time of their induction?

This is a bit of a tricky one as it requires navigating two different forums at the same time, however if you use both the VHL All-Time GM and the HOF Builders page, you should be able to find the answer you’re looking for.

123b. Who was the first player to win the Scotty Campbell Trophy & Scott Boulet Trophy in the same season?

Another one that will require looking at two pages two find the correct answer, you can find that by looking through the Campbell and Boulet award threads respectively.

Thanks to Enorama and McWolf for providing the extra Trivia Questions!
