Hello all! I know playoffs are still in full swing, but wanted to get as ahead of the curve as possible here. We are anticipating one or more openings in the VHLE this season. I don't believe any manager has said anything publicly yet, so I will refrain from naming them now, but their service is greatly appreciated. As per usual, please post in this thread if you are interested in a GM position. Don't be dissuaded if you feel you do not have the qualifications, the E is a perfect place to learn how to GM full time! All we as is that you are active, engaged, and ready to learn. He so rarely writes series that I don't think your interest in that one would be necessarily indicative of your interest in the rest of his writing. I will say that he is very well known for writing pretty slow burn worldbuilding stories then then end with a bang in the last 20% or so, so if that isn't your speed he may not be for you. My personal favourites of his are some of his longer works because of how much you just get to live in that world (It, 11/22/63, and The Stand especially). If you want to try something a little shorter - maybe The Outsider? I personally really enjoyed it and I feel like it gets moving a lot earlier than his other books.

Roughly 10, assuming max career length. 9-season turnaround for 80 seasons + 10-season turnaround for 14 seasons. Quite a bit more if you tend to retire early - there's actually at least one member with 12 players in the portal era (earliest one is S60) and at least a handful before that as well.

It picks up like all his other works do but it's not one of his best for sure. It also gets just as weird and uncomfortable as his others if I recall correctly. Reading ssn is starting up for me. One Agatha Christie short story collection done, midway through another, and also just picked up Dune Messiah after finishing the other earlier this year. On my to-read list this summer: Joe Wilkins - The Entire Sky (releasing July 2). Really liked his debut novel Fall Back Down When I Die. J.M. Miro - Ordinary Monsters Stephen King - The Shining & Doctor Sleep. Saw the Doctor Sleep movie last year and loved it, and then caught The Shining for the first time in theatres this spring and loved it too. Might as well get around to the books now. R.F. I know he made a post in the LR already but I don't believe that he has said anything publicly yet. @Zetterberg is stepping down as Vasteras GM effective immediately. Z's 4 seasons at the helm of the Eagles makes him the longest running GM in franchise history (yes, really). Despite never quite reaching the Renaissance Cup, the Iron Eagles were always a force to be reckoned with under his purview. With the timing of this change being as it is, I had to jump to find a GM pretty quickly. I hopped on over to the last GM vacancy thread (VHLM GM in this case), interviewed a few of the applicants there, and came up with a great candidate! This is actually something we have moved away from in a major way since retracting the E to 6 teams. Last season we had 0 inactive veteran players, this year we have two per team because the GMs voted 4-2 that they wanted them this year. I personally think we can be completely healthy with 0. The actual issue with any "delete the E talk" stems from the cap question you mention. We've been over this many times since even before the inauguration of the VHLE, but there basically has to be one of two outcomes here. Either: a)we keep cap at 400 as you suggest, but we don't think there's any appetite for brand new players to play against a good chunk of players at 300+ TPE, or b) we move the cap to 200 or 250 and the VHL supports the excess, but right now the excess is big enough to require either expansion or raising the cap, which comes with it's own issues as well. The long and short of it is as long as there is some form of recruitment effort, deleting the E would most likely require either expansion or forcing new players to play against too strong of opposition early on, neither of which have been at all appealing based on multiple discussions.
