  1. So if I write a media spot that's just "I would love to see a measure of how many first gen VHL players each VHLM franchise has produced" 26.3 times you'll pull the data for me?

Did someone forget to scout Tagger before picking him in a draft?
  5. The real measure is which teams produced the most first gens selected in the first round / first gens that made the VHL at all.
  6. To give people a little more context, Iseult actually started ALL 72 games in S63, so the Meute owed 8 backup starts. This should have been made up in playoffs by our current rules, where they won the wildcard round but were trounced in 5 games by Riga in semis. However, Iseult played all 7 games there as well. Their punishment therefore should have been levied in the following season but I honestly don't think they were punished at all. Rather, this was used as a good time to formalize what these punishments would be going forward. Then Beaviss went and played Iseult too many games once again in S64, this time only 67, so 3 starts over the limit. This punishment was properly applied, with Iseult benched for the wildcard series. Iseult played 0 total minutes as the Meute were swept 2-0 in the series. Arthur here was unhappy about this, and got mad at the league for enforcing the rule rather than the GM for slipping up and missing a total of 11 backup starts across two seasons. Fun little popcorn read in the linked thread.
  7. He's referring to when Beaviss underplayed his backup in a season and therefore had to bench his starter (Iseult) in playoffs to make up the difference in games. Yes, that rule still exists. The last time he was around, Quebec actually did have a team and he was their goalie!
  8. Prof. Zach Enron does it again
  9. Something I forgot to mention in the initial post - the trade between Oslo and Vasteras will be reversed out of respect for the new GM. They are of course free to re-do it or re-negotiate as they see fit.
  10. Good evening all, pulling a real NHL here by dropping some news on you guys on a Friday night. After some conversations over the past few days, @Gaming Ringleader has elected to step down as GM of the Oslo Storm, effective immediately. I want to extend our sincerest gratitude to Gaming for his time with both the Storm and the Iron Eagles and for piloting the two franchises through a tumultuous part of VHLE history. I don't believe he's going anywhere in the grand scheme of things, so I look forward to seeing what he does next! With the timing of this being awkward and the team needing a direction going into the season ASAP, we did not post for the role and instead asked around for someone I already knew was interested. He should be a familiar face to you all! You may notice the second half of the title and a conspicuously missing job posting. I ran through this off-season (mostly) solo with some help from Thad and commissioners in the other leagues. Since the league has dropped to 6 teams, I can comfortably manage that ratio (GMs only outnumber me 6 to 1!) so for at least the next season or two, I will be at the helm alone. Sorry to disappoint those of you out there who I know were aching for a leadership opportunity!
  11. damn i am really starved for that TPE (someone has to help you catch up to me in tpe)
  12. Still pending sleepy commish! (financier also sleepy)
  13. Funny that Fong is saying exactly the same things about the same trophy When an award is highly contested, multiple people are going to feel slighted when they don't get it. Award voting was 2-1-1-1 here, so very close. Feel free to quiz the individual GMs and why they voted how they did if you feel like that'll give you closure. Also 0 of the nominees on the ballot are first gens.

  15. I'm a pretty terrible reviewer, so I'll rely on this to explain my issues: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4572710532 In short, the main character is clearly on the spectrum but the author clearly is not and has never had a conversation with someone who is.
  16. Started my year with it and enjoyed it enough to grab physical copies because the covers are goooorgeous
  17. Full summary: https://www.goodreads.com/user/year_in_books/2023/40616420 Top Book: Killers of the Flower Moon (randomly found an ARC from 2017 so that was neat) Worst Book: The Maid Other good reads: The Daevabad Trilogy Gentleman Bastards The Celestial Kingdom Overall an underwhelming year of books for me. The Maid, Leave The World Behind, and The Big Four were particular disappointments.
