Who gave a 5 year old a VHLM team? Obvious mistake. Voted yes.

But the punishment in that case would be restricting your freedom, while this is more akin to a restraining order, which are usually indefinite. I don't have any strong opinions on this matter though tbh. Just if he comes back and acts like an asshole, don't be afraid to kick his ass out the door.

Roast Victor Thread: The Ultimate VHL Roast-a-Thon, Week 3
Enorama replied to Gustav's topic in The Thunderdome
The people who chronicle real-life history are already nerdy af. Imagine how nerdy you need to be to chronicle fake sports league history. -
I'm using the same technique but my name is definitely not Eno nor Rama either lmao I think almost everyone at least knows my first name by now.

With the VHL expansion announcement coming down today, we learned that the two general managers taking control of the brand new franchises will by myself and d_a. The application thread for what would later turn out to be the expansion GM position(s) was one of the most active job interviews thread I've personally ever seen in my short time here. I'm excited for the future of the league based on the interest and competition I saw in there, compared to the lack of interest in any sort of GMing when I first popped into the league some 12 months ago. With such a large number of applicants, there were of course going to be some major snubs. I'm going to look at a few of the people who I think may have been FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY the hardest. @Josh He's been toiling away in the VHLM since right around the time I joined the league, which is a pretty long tenure in the minor leagues. He's well liked and respected around the league and he has poured hours upon hours into bettering the portal that we all use constantly. @BladeMaiden She is the head of what I would consider the best front office in either of the two leagues, just based on what I've heard. I don't see how you could get that many people vouching for your leadership on a daily basis unless you really are as good as they all say you are. Tack on a recent Founders' Cup victory, and you have the recipe for what would certainly make a fantastic VHL GM. The counter-point here is that I've always heard that being too good at your job is often the best way to never get promoted (please don't take that as a queue to get worse at your job). @Jubo07 The other half of the stellar front office coming out of Pennsylvania, Jubo has been in the league for almost exactly as long as I have, I believe he joined a day or two before me back in August 2018. We've enjoyed a nice quiet rivalry since then, beginning with an earning race leading up to the S63 draft. His GM exploits have come largely on the international stage, collecting a bazillion gold medals with Canada in both the WJC and WC in the past couple tournaments, so he obviously knows his way around a roster. @DilIsPickle You know how I said Josh was well like and respected? Well Dil mostly is not, and that's not my taking a knock at him but just me trying to read the room. However, he is probably the single most active person on the site between the discord and the forums, and he's constantly trying to do whatever he can to help the league. @Nykonax Could probably compete with Dil for activity level, but Nyko comes with the added benefit of having some VHLM GMing experience under his belt and he's never been fired from a VHLM GM position (another shot at Dil I guess, sorry). @Peace This man has been interim GM for too long, someone give him a promotion please. Actually though, he's put his heart and soul into Saskatoon for quite a long time, even before he was officially named GM. I can guarantee that if he ever lands a VHL team, he would put the same effort and dedication into it as well. @InstantRockstar Probably the applicant with the longest resume (other than DA), in that he's been around the league for quite a while on and off and even served as a VHL GM once before. He's already proving his willingness to stay active this time around by building an expansion VHLM team. This one will be going to old Georgie.

With Jason Glasser @diamond_ace (if you're still going to use the same GM name) and Eno Rama (myself) being named GMs of two upcoming VHL Expansion teams, I figured I would examine the possibilities of the approach they could take to team-building. With Moscow and Malmo both having been added to the league in the past few years, looking at them could tell us about the paths these two new GMs could take. The Moscow Menace Moscow entered the league for the start of the 65th season. Their expansion draft was heavily focused on building for the future and the VHL wasn't quite the full three-line league that it is now. As a result, they started their franchise absolutely abysmally on the scoreboard and in the standings. Finishing the season 24 points behind the second-to-last-place team (who only had 49) and with a -177 goal differential, meaning their GF:GA ratio was under 1:2, something that has been achieved only once in the course of over 100 NHL seasons, by the notoriously awful 1974-75 Washington Capitals. However, as we stand after the trade deadline of S67, Moscow sits comfortably in third place, as a part of the pack that trails well behind the Toronto Legion. This just goes to show that although they lost the battle of S65, they might yet win the war by bringing home a Continental Cup before their counterparts in Malmo. The Malmo Nighthawks Malmo almost went the exact opposite direction with their expansion draft and inaugural season. Joining the league a year later than the Menace, in S66, Malmo came roaring out of the gates to take first place overall in the league after the first couple weeks of games. I emphasized the word almost, because they didn't finish so hot. They ended up falling to second-to-last ahead of only the Menace, but their goal differential ended at a respectable -36. Although they weren't great across the entire season, they were at least only slightly below average. What does this tell us about the S68 expansion? 1. No matter how you plan it out, don't expect to be a contender in your first season. Playing the slow game may end up being the best way to go about things. 2. It's possible to be really really bad. For the fans' sake, maybe try to avoid that. If you're going to lose, at least make sure you're scoring some goals along the way. Now, because these two teams expanded within the past three seasons, we really can't say which of their strategies will pay off in the long run. Another interesting tidbit is that I am actually the only one of the four S65-S68 expansion GMs to still be on their first gen player and the only one who has never held a VHL GM position before. I'm excited to get started and will begin contacting S68 entry draftees sometime this week about the draft. Another article will follow with some comments on the other candidates for the GM positions.

Incumbent GMs at the thought of the concept:
