  5. Hey ho, hey ho, the season has once again come and gone. Looking across the board now, 6 of the 10 VHL organizations have reached the seasonal ending point for their regular seasons and only 4 (all in the North American conference) have a game remaining. With some very great seasons behind them and the race for the final prize bigger than ever - we're curious to see how the first round will play out. With all of the first round match ups set and ready to go, we figured we'd give it a shot and see if we can hit the grey goose on the head and predict who, what, where, when and why for the first round. Without any further delay, the European conference. European Conference 1st Round Predictions The race for the first place bye was an amazing one in the European Conference, however, Stockholm just fell shy of winning that honour. Taking an extra overtime loss than win compared to Helsinki, Stockholm finished the season 1 point behind with 117 points on the regular season standings. As a result of this, Stockholm and the HC Dynamo will be facing off against one another and when taking a look at the rosters, the stats and regular seasons standings, we can safely say we have a winner in mind (though stranger shit has happened). The Vikings put up 59 more goals while allowing 23 less on the season - beat them by 29 points and finished the year off better (7-1-2 compared to 7-3-0). We will, however, like to mention Davos is rolling on some good momentum as they're heading into the playoffs on a 5 game winning streak. Average TPE per team Stockholm: 506.54 Davos: 323 Clear cut winner here, largely gives the Vikings the edge in the first round. Chemistry would be something that would strongly help Davos take down the Vikings, however, even with boosting amounts of chemistry we feel Stockholm has this in the bag. Roster analysis 2 players break a point per game on Davos (Trombone - 79 and Gretzky - 77) with the next players coming in at 67, 63 and 58. Honestly not too bad but nothing you would expect from a championship winning team. Depth scoring seems to be pretty good on Davos - so watch for that to potentially be a factor in the series. Aside from this, the Vikings goalie edges Davos out and Stockholm's players scoring point wise goes 96, 92, 91, 90 and 70. Carrying on, their depth similarly matches Davos. Result 4-1 North American Conference 1st Round Prediction In my opinion, the European conference will likely be the series to watch in round one as I feel like things could likely be a little different in that one as opposed to this one. Could be my distaste for Calgary and being a little biased, but I see the Americans walking all over them and sending them back to their cowboy infested hole in the ground. While the Americans did;t have quite the explosive season as say Stockholm or Helsinki etc, they're season was still good enough to stack up on Calgary by 29 points in the standings, all while scoring 67 more and letting in 50 less. Based off those stats alone, that's the kind of series I expect it to be. Average TPE per team Calgary: 326 (only 7 players) New York: 711.55 (9 players) Roster Analysis 3 players over 59 points for Calgary, then 2 at 37 with the rest being below 12. For the Americans, 4 above a point per game ranging from 75 to 113, then 69, 49, 23 and the rest below 8. Again, not as exciting as the European conference to watch in my opinion. Holik is the goalie to beat in this series and likely is the icing on the cake. People claimed Jacob should be nominated for something and while he did manage a strong season on an otherwise poor team, his stats just don't pop out to me like it does to others. Boring series, high scoring games and Calgary goes home in 4. Result 4-0 6 for Federov
  6. Looking back and comparing this season to last, a lot of things have changed for the VHLM's Oslo Storm. Three of the biggest things is the depth and talent to their roster, the fact they're not shit anymore and that Swedish centre Mattias Forsberg has been lights out, or should we say ON, this season. Last year he struggled to find his game for a majority of the season and failed to meet expectations with only 64 points through the 72 games while adding a respected 30 goals. This season, however, is a much different tale. With 3 games remaining on the season, it's safe to say he's actually surpassed his expectations this year. Through the 69 games, he has 67 goals, 82 assists and 149 points. As a little cherry on top, he's also over 69% in the face-off circle. Feels good to be playing so strong and to be doing it with a few good people. We've been clicking all season and it's a nice thing to see now considering were going to be teammates in the future. Hopefully I can keep this momentum going into playoffs and into my rookie season for the VHL. 1 for Forsberg
  7. 1. Federov growing tired of waiting Aleksei Federov, of the Seattle Bears, only has 27 points through 52 games played this season. Coming into the league and heading to the Seattle Bears, he knew it was going to be difficult to fully take off due to the teams current position and rebuilding phase but he never expected it to be quite like this. Last year was a strong struggle and this year doesn't seem to be a whole lot different. Being a player from Banackock's agency, he's actually on pace to potentially be the bets player coming out of said agency, but hasn't put up any sort of statistic to actually prove this statement as being true. Now sitting at 400 TPE, the young defender is about to enter his final season in his "rookie phase" of his career and will next move onto his prime. It's time to get the blue-line gem going or his career won't be as great as he had hoped. With Seattle bringing up some youth next season, time will tell to see if it's enough. 2. Seattle and What's going on, man? Seattle is and was and pretty much has always been in a tricky section. For a while, things seemed great. Rebuild was done and the team was rolling. We attracted the odd FA and contended each season. Always came close, but never close enough. We fell, we were surrounded by silly nonsense created by the fake news people of thy league and it really hit the team hard. With some frustrating and crazy retirements, it really but the last bullet into the Bear. Podarok fucks the team over, leaves the league and moves on - hanging up the skates and popping the last cap into the Bears. Now, the Bears are into a hard rebuild and things seem to be going okay. @Laflamme seemed to turn out to be a huge steal but I always sort of believed he would be one - which is why I took him. No knocks to the other guys, but he's been the GO TO guy so far for us. @NUCK kicks around and updates - so that makes me happy. He may not be a TPE whore, but as long as he kicks around, updates and contributes the odd time - I'm a happy GM. I go a few years back with Nuck and have always enjoyed any sort of interaction. @Wikiplaysgames is a great guy and I know he's got potential. He was drafted low - if not mistaken, was a BPA pick. He turned out to be active and chats weekly with us in the LR or via PM. Just started a new job, but should be slowing down soon. I don't expect him to be a 800 TPE star, but a good, loyal depth player is what I would like if so. 3. GM Blake Campbell + Agency, it's a struggle to maintain. When it comes to this position, I'm a try hard. This season is an exception as it's tough to do lines or the whole ten yards when your team is garbage. However, I've been heavy in the trade talks and looking at options and actually started some scouting prior to the season starting. The issue being is that I don't think I've fully enjoyed a PLAYER career since my first player - Blake Campbell (goalie). Even then, it got cut short due to the large amounts of goalies in the league. Blake Campbell - Pretty much forced into retirement due to too many goalies. Sven Wolf (Goalie) - Retired at around 180-210 TPE as Seattle needed a Centre. Sven Wolf (Center) - Retired due to GM trade rules - Seattle was rebuilding. Mattias Forsberg (Centre - active) - SEA needs a center - sometimes hard to come by. Currently around 200 the. Aleksei Federov (Defense - Active) - Defense are important and I knew he'd be good. Now my problem with Federov is that he's a great young man. On any competing or half decent team, he'd likely be wrecking the league, but here he sits with 400 the and only 27 points through 52 games. Another career likely could be going down the drain because of the GM role. Don't get me wrong, no regrets with the GM role. Have enjoyed it 110% the entire time and have no intentions of stepping down. I so badly want a cup here in Seattle and love the quality of guys we generally have in the LR. Just tough sacrificing your player and enjoyment with it due to the GMing role. PEACE. 6 TPE for Forsberg
  8. Good to see you back, man.
  9. Looking like a decent draft. Maybe we won't deal our S57 1st. Shame! One GM mentioned it was gonna be a shitty draft
  10. Sweet! Good luck, man.
  11. This season is killing me.

    Buh-bye KYLO

    Best of luck, man!
  13. Another tank! Hope you stick with it, dude!
  14. P.S 1 TPE for Federov = 398
  15. So, he's closing in on nothing exciting or legendary. He's not Kohler who is busting nuts and breaking the 700 point barrier. In fact, he's likely wasting his career right now on the Bears roster which is great for me - another player ruined because of GMing... but that's the name of the game.. Either way, he sits at 397 TPE and that's pretty sweet for me. He reigns as one of the better players from his draft and was a great pick for 4th overall. The thing I'm happy with most is that my highest TPE player ever was my goalie Blake Campbell. I think he finished in the 590-600 range but I could be wrong and am too lazy to look. Like I said, it's too bad I got this GM thing rolling on and such. It's been busting my balls and hasn't allowed me to truly enjoy a career. Sven Wolf (goalie) I retired to create a centre that the team needed. thus came about Sven Wolf (centre).. didn't finish his career before a rebuild set in and traded him via the GM player rule and he retired.. Blake Campbell (Goalie) was also sent into retirement due to a heavy influx of goalies. For just once I'd like to have a stellar career as I know my players are good enough for it.. Never seems to work out though and I'm clinging the GMing to it.. But I love my job as Bears GM and really want to see where we can take the team. Won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Federov will be leaving the Bears before GM Blake Campbell does. P.S GM's... 397 TPE young defender willing to extend contract with you after rookie seasons for 4 years in a trade. Very rare to find a deal like this. You know the price
  16. So, over the last week we've taken a look at the leagues Top 3 goalies and defenders who reign supreme in both of those positions. For the goalies we seen Astrid Moon - G (link to media spot) come out on top with an amazing performance so far this year and for our trusty blue line defenders of the league, we've seen a pretty good 3-headed battle, however, due to exceptional play from one of the leads youngest talents on the back end, has Roman Sokolov with a step up on Bobby Digital and Fabio Jokinen. This week we're going to head a little off trail and take a look at a couple different statistics that rarely get piled up into these sort of writings. This week, we're going deep into the index to see who takes the cake for being the biggest bad ass in the league. Clarifying, not the coolest guy but the one who steps out onto the ice and instantly has his opponents reminding themselves to keep their heads up or it could be an easy and quick rest into the nightly casket for them. 3. Brock Dragonslayer - STO ' Surprisingly, we're going to cap this one off with a player I never expected to make the list. Brock has a lower about of TPE for his draft year sitting at 330 VIA player page and despite his checking and strength not being super high and there being stronger, more physical options on Stockholm, he easily leads the team in hits and sits comfortably in 2nd with a commanding 54 hit lead on 4th place. Though he is lacking fights to boost his "bad ass" status even more, what really adds him onto this list is the amount of times he's hit over being laid flat on the ice. With 250 hits on the year so far, he's only be pushed around a little taken a pretty low 61 hits to date. This means he's pummelling out 4.8 hits a game while only receiving roughly 1.17. That ratio works for me and likely Stockholm as well. 2. Darryl Dortch - HSK Darryl Dortch finds himself in a similar position that Brock Dragonslayer does but gets the edge over him as he actually has dropped the mitts once this season. A couple really good candidates for this list, but Dortch finds himself fittingly in 2nd place. Again, similar to Dragonslayer, he finds himself up on 3rd place by 4 hits to just have second placed locked up for hits with 254. Furthering this argument of being a strong forced bad ass out there, he's only taken 43 hits on the season - so could it be a safe assumption that very few ice packs have been used on this guy? Doubtful, but hey. Dortch is a boss ass bitch and if he catches you with your head down, lights the fuck out. 1. Fabio Jokinen - QUE Last but surely not least, Fabio Jokinen has a habit of finding himself on each of my lists. Maybe it's a secret way to tamper and win over the heart of this amazing defender and person, or maybe it's simply that I respect the hell of his player and am a true supporter and fan of his play on the ice. Whatever the hell it is, here he is again. Let's start it off with him being in 3rd place for points on the season among defenders with 57 in 52. Next you have his hit total, which isn't as exciting as the other two and sits only at 124 with being hit 72 times. One would make an argument for fellow teammates Fook YU and Guntis Petenis who have a league leading 281 hits and 175, but there's one stat that gives Fabio the lead and it's a league leading 5 fights on the season so far. While it's not a huge number, it's leading the league and is surprising from this young fella. Safe to say, he's a bad ass as he can hit, rack up the points and isn't afraid to say "hey, fuck you, your moms a pussy" and drop the gloves either. 6 for Federov
  17. Just don't burn yourself out, dude. You're an awesome member!
  18. Give this guy some bonus TPE for this masterpiece

  21. Mattias Forsberg Biography Mattias Forsberg hasn't always had the brightest, nor best of upbringings. Often, you hear of the gifted child who didn't have much to overcome as he had time, his parents had money and the opportunity was always there to succeed. This was not the case for young Forsberg. Though he was already born into fame due to his last name bringing so much grace to Sweden, that doesn't always mean that everything else (like fame) will come easy to you. Again, unlike a some of those who are lucky enough, Mattias had the complete opposite of luck. Being born in the city of Vastervik, Sweden, it taught him a couple things. The first thing a smaller city teaches you is the ability and desire to be kind to those around you and to help and lend a hand even when it is not needed. People in smaller cities, especially in Sweden, tend to be kinder to the strangers who also make up and drive their beautiful city and know how important each individual is to the world. The second thing it taught him is that people talk and when they talk, they always tend to pick a side and stick with it. Smaller town folk are usually a little more opinionated. Lastly, it taught him that it's easier to escape. The bigger the place, the more chance it has to suck you in. With all these obstacles standing in his way, it's hard to believe where he is today. Yet, you look on the ice right now for the Oslo Storm and you will see Mattias Forsberg leading the way. Forsberg was born on December 7th, 1996 to Peter and Maria Forsberg. Being the last child of the group of 3, there was already his first obstacle. The family was not gifted with money, though his parents tried very hard to succeed and provide a healthy and strong life for their children. Their father worked as a fisherman off the bay and their mother was a nurse at one of the local hospitals. Respectable jobs in the community, however, at that time and during the economic downfall in Sweden, those two parts of the job sector took big cuts. So money was tough and at times they didn't eat the greatest of meals. If it meant plain noodles with a side of milk, you were happy you ate that night. One thing they were really good at was making sure their children were happy. Each boy played a sport - the eldest playing baseball, Mattias playing hockey and their sister has actually become a gold medalist dancer and gymnast. Despite the talent, despite how hard they worked to overcome obstacles - hunger, debt, personal problems and all of that nature, it seems as though they faced everyone and the next one to face was sickness. Forsberg's mother was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer when he was 7 years old. At such a young age, sometimes it's hard to remember all the details but they've never left his mind. They would visit each day with their fathers. To help her with chemo, to relax with her and to show her love. They would pray, even if not religious, as their mother was what held the family together. Despite every effort and financial advance their father took to try the latest and greatest thing to help rid her of her disease, Maria Forsberg passed away in her sleep. The sadness drove their father insane. He was already hurting financially due to all the advancements and loans he had taken out to help his poor wife, and now with her passing he had turned to drinking and turning his face away from the world. More often than not, he elected to stay home from work, turn on the television and open a bottle of whiskey. The kids would go to school and come home, only to find their father in the same place, passed out with a half lit cigarette burning a whole through the couch. Now, he seems like a monster but he really wasn't. He stilled love his children - you could see it in his eyes and feel it in the pain his tone gave off overtime he spoke. He was lost. They all were. With all the pain at home, Mattias spent most of his nights on the outdoor rink in their community, over at their friends or playing hockey at his friends house on the television. It seemed as though each day passed and the game of hockey changed his eyes - altered his heart. He found a new self in the game of hockey and it was the first thing to make him feel alive since his mother was around. More and more he became involved in hockey and ended up getting a job working at a construction company only to pay for it. During the summer, he took time away from hockey - worked as many hours as he could and banked every cent. The following fall, he enlisted in one of Sweden's most competitive hockey schools and leagues. This was the start to a whole new beginning and little did he know, it was going to take him places he never would have thought possible a couple years prior. 2 years later, with the 11th overall pick in the Season 54 VHLM dispersal draft, the Oslo Storm are proud to select from Sweden, Mattias Forsberg. He rose from his seat, hugs his brothers and sisters and made his way down the a few seats. He stopped, turned, looked at his father and said thank you. During the years which Forsberg pushed himself into hockey, it was his dads strength and determination to overcome alcohol abuse and emotional issues due to the loss of his wife that showed him what true strength was. In reality, his father and the seemingly horrible life he lived up until this point was to thank for him reaching his goals and dreams. Without the tough life, he may have never ended up where he wanted to. He may have never had the drive to push himself past anything tough because he was never strong. It seems like a sad story, but when we close our eyes to sleep at night, we remember that this is life and life has a weird way of working sometimes. Some believe that you aren't handed what you can't handle - me, I don't believe in this. You are handed what you are handed because that's what life does. It's random and you decided what you become, how you do it and every other aspects which is controllable, you control. Forever will his parents be the ones who push him further in his career and always will MF 75 (Maria Forsberg/ 1975) be on his gloves. 1,144 words - 10 TPE for Forsberg
