  1. +10 Elias Dahlberg
  2. Ottawa, Canada -- The Ottawa Lynx have had a mediocre start to the season, 8 games in with a record that contains 4 wins and 4 losses the previous champions haven't had a start that they wished for, but haven't had one that is terrible. On the brighter side though even though Ottawa hasn't had a great start, their top rookie Elias Dahlberg has. With 14 points in only 8 games he is tied for the team lead in points, 2nd in goals with 8, the leading rookie on his team, and the 2nd most points by a rookie this season, only behind VHLM veteran and recent VHL draftee Nathan McKinnon. Dahlberg had an okay start to the season, putting up 4 points in 3 games but he and his team have really picked it up with back to back to back blowout wins against Oslo and Halifax, with a total of 15 goals for and only 4 against in those 3 games. The Matthews-Dahlberg line drove the offense along with defenseman Gregor Rasputinov. Matthews, Dahlberg, and Rasputinov have 23 points between them in the last 3 games. After Ottawa's rough start to the season it seems the General Manager Diamond_Ace clearly inspired them leading to this spike in offense, but the increased offense shouldn't overlook the great goaltending that Finn Davison has put up. After having a tough start he finally turned things around and is posting a 0.890 SV% and a 2.89 GAA. We asked Elias Dahlberg on his thoughts so far about his team, his hot start, his time in Ottawa, and his thoughts on the league. "Well this is a couple of questions so I may forget, just remind me if I do haha. Uhh, but for your first question about my team I've really enjoyed them. It's a great locker room dynamic that we got here, when I first entered the room Matthews welcomed me, told me about the team, how to get started and all that. He really welcomed me and we clicked instantly. But of course all the guys are great, we got a great team here and I'm really happy here in Ottawa. I definitely owe my hot start to Matthews. He's been in this league longer than me and he's taught me a lot but also set my up a lot. This is some tough competition in this league, a lot harder than Sweden. I've definitely wanted to prove myself against all the people who doubted me and passed on me in the draft, and the puck is now in their net. I've gotten some good chances and I hope I can keep this up and hopefully help out Ottawa. Ottawa is a great city, its much bigger than where I grew up but I definitely enjoy the city. You can tell that this city has a great atmosphere and the fans here really support us. It was weird driving here since everyone is so nice and lets you go by first, whereas in Sweden it was a mess haha. This is a great league to play in, they really support us and care about us the players. The players here are great too, I've made friends on the ice on different teams. Of course in game you hate each other but off the ice almost everyone is great friends. Speaking of great friends I've been talking with Joel Ylonen. He's been an amazing friend, also a fellow rookie we came into the league having no clue what to do but we've helped each other get through this, and we are looking forward to playing together in the Sponsors Shield and hopefully on the same team at the World Juniors." 617 words for use of the week ending Oct 28
  3. @McWolf could try moving him up to RW with me and Matthews, but then we don't have some spread out scoring
  4. I either get 0 or 2-3 points. Interesting. although ill take 3 any day
  5. That sucks, if you got another team I'll have one too
  6. 2 points for dahlberg but 0 for ottawa
  7. The rookie phenom and hyped S64 prospect Elias Dahlberg has come right out of the gate. In his first game against Halifax 21st he got an assist off of a nice powerplay goal by Iniquity. In the second period Dahlberg racked up another assist off of a goal by Robert Renner. In the third Dahlberg scored the game winning goal for his first in the VHLM off of a pass from Matthews. He had quite the shot and was able to put it past the Halifax goaltender. Dahlberg's 3 points along with Renner's 3 helped push the Lynx past Halifax 4-2. In the second game Dahlberg was held scoreless as Halifax came out hard and fast and blew out the Lynx 5-1. The only scorer for the Lynx in that game was Mark Gebauer on the PP in the 2nd. In Dahlberg's 3rd game he was able to get on the scoresheet on a 2nd period goal in the 5-3 loss to Oslo. Dahlberg has had a hot start with 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists) and is looking to rack up more in the next couple. 10th in the league for points and goals he is looking to improve on that and hopefully come in the top 3 at the end of the season.
  8. 1) Out of the players brought in through free agency/waivers post-draft (John Madden, Bobby Power, Brick Wahl, Mark Gebauer, Evgeni Komarov, Divaani Sohva, Finn Davison, Jonathon Hill, Kyson Blake), who do you think will go on to have the best career? Brick Wahl, even his name says what his potential and role will be 2) What are your thoughts on the player management section of the portal? Anything you'd like to see added to it? Looks good, somewhere to manage all your purchases and finances would be great 3) Who is the one member in the league who you would like to play on the same team as? Joel Ylonen, me and him will be a dream team in the Shield though. 4) If the VHL or VHLM were to ever expand, what cities would you like to see represented? Vancouver and Rio 5) Who do you think will be in the top four picks in the Season 64 Draft Class? Me (Hopefully), Perwa, Sullivan, and Zabby 6) What would you say is the best graphic that you've seen on the VHL? All of Quik's look amazing, I tried one and sucked at it so now I've decided to do articles
  9. Calgary - JoltJuice is one of the biggest energy drink producers, and its no wonder why the decided to sponsor the VHL along with many other brands that include Viking, True North Gear, NETFLEX, and Haterade. Brands were rushing at the opportunity when the VHL announced they were finaly open to allowing sponsors. The VHL also went further to support sponsors by having the Sponsors Shield, a battle royale tournament alternating every year with the World Cup. The VHL announced they would only allow 6 brands, but many brands applied and the VHL left it to a fan vote. The 6 brands chosen were: Haterade, Jolt Juice, NETFLEX, True North Gear, Ubuyalot Games, and VIKING. These are some of the biggest hockey brands in the world, and as they recruited players some favourites emerged and some not so favourites emerged. With the rosters being finalised I've decided to do a personal breakdown of my personal favourite, Jolt Juice. Jolt Juice, the most electrifying drink also brings one of the most electrifying teams. You know what they say, "defense wins championships", and Jolt Juice executive Rhett Stoffiday followed this method to a tee. Signing some of the top defense including first and second picks in the S63 VHL Entry Draft Kastelic and Wolf, and the 4th pick Sidney Crosby, there is no doubt this team is stacked on defense. Jolt Juice is also one of the youngest teams signing multiple rookies in the VHL and VHLM including Elias Dahlberg, Joel Ylonen, and Crosby, Wolf, and Kastelic. Even though the team is stacked on defense don't overlook their offense who includes Charm, Mulligan, Davis, and Pajari. Charm and Davis seem to be the two who will drive the offense, Charm putting up 90 points and Davis with 70 in the VHL. They are projected to play together but executive Stoffiday may scramble the lines a bit to spread out the offense. Some overlooked players who could be great together are Dahlberg and Ylonen. Two of the top 10 projected picks in S64 could both be on a line together and could be the dark horse of the Sponsors Shield. If the 2 prospects keep developing and training over the VHL season they could definitely help out a lot in Jolt Juice's Shield run. Backstopping the team are goaltenders Stoffiday and Pepper. Stoffiday the 22nd pick in the S63 draft is another VHL rookie on Jolt Juice, coming off a not so good season on the rebuilding Yukon Rush with 16 wins in 70 games, a 0.849 SV%, and a 3.60 GAA he is looking to improve these numbers next season. With multiple picks in the first 2 rounds of the VHLM draft Yukon looks to be a solid team and Stoffiday could improve those numbers with some hard training and a solid team in front of him. With the stacked defense Jolt Juice has Stoffiday could have an easier time in the Sponsors Shield then the VHLM, but he is facing the best of the best. Pepper is the second goalie and probably the starter for Jolt Juice, another rookie on the team he was picked 10th by Helsinki. Posting a solid 50 wins, a .896 SV%, a 1.99 GAA, and 10 shutouts he had an amazing season on the Aces. He is definitely the favourite starter for Jolt Juice, and playing in Helsinki this season he will get a taste of the tougher competition. Some tough training and practice in the VHL could really help him backstop Jolt Juice to the championship. Jolt Juice has some good offense, great goaltending, and even better defense. They are definitely my favourite to win, followed by Haterade to win the Shield. 616 words, for week ending 21/10
  10. 1. Well obviously Ottawa for drafting me, but I think Yukon had a great draft just because its hard to go wrong with 3 first round picks 2. Hopefully I'm known as a steal in the draft, and can have a great rookie season 3. Yukon definitley, I'm hoping that we can have a great season too and exceed expectations 4. Ace is great, he's involved and friendly, same with the AGM McWolf. 5. Reddit Ad 6. Nothing, think I got it all down now.
  11. One of the most highly touted S64 prospects and recent S63 VHLM draft pick Elias Dahlberg was just signed to a 3 year, 1.5 million net deal with Jolt Juice. The signing which was just announced recently was a huge one, as brands have started to notice the VHL and have offered sponsorships to the best players. Dahlberg joins other players who have also been snatched up like defenseman Joseph McWolf and other VHLM forward Joel Ylonen. Brands are looking to sign the best players in anticipation for the S63 Sponsors Shield, the bi-annual tournament where the players of each brand face off in a battle royale hockey tournament. We asked Elias for a statement and this is what he said
  12. F Matt Thompson @Eparker24
  13. Worst Team: Mercs Bronze Medal: USA Silver Medal: World Gold Medal: CAN
  14. Oh Sick, I'll definitely do that, free uncapped TPE. Sweet
  15. Sure I'm in, don't really know how this works but I'll give it a shot
  16. Player Name: Elias Dahlberg VHL Team: Ottawa Lynx Cash you have: 1,500,000 Purchase Name: The First Generation Cost of Purchase: 500,000 Cash Left: 1,000,000
  17. 1. I'm hoping to be an elite two way forward who has a very strong defensive game but can also put the puck in the net. 2. I like Ottawa and Vegas. Both of their AGM's talked to me and welcomed me and I had a very friendly vibe. 3. I talked with Ottawa and Vegas. They asked me some questions about my play and overall were very friendly. 4. I don't really care where I go, as long as I get to play, grow, and prove myself. Although I would love to go in the 1st round as its every kids dream. 5. I don't think there is too much practice. There is always some way you can grow and make your self a better player. Like there is always something you can do better every game. Would could score 10 goals in one game but still make a silly turnover that you could fix. Everyone has good games but no one has perfect games.
  18. Mr. Dahlberg is ready to answer all of your questions.
  19. 1. What are you doing to become a better center? 2. What's your style of play and who should we compare you to? 3. What are your short term goals? 4. What do you think of the current S64 Draft Class? 5. What part of your game are you trying to improve?
  20. "Im here with Elias Dahlberg at the VHLM pre-draft party. So Elias, what are your thoughts on the VHLM so far" "Well, the VHLM seems like a great place to learn, practice, and grow so that I can be a stud in the VHL. All of the people and GM's I have met so far have been very friendly and I really like it here." "Why were you so successful in Allsvenskan" "Uhm, I don't really know. I guess I just went out there and played hockey. It was a team effort though, I didn't do it all by myself like some people think. The whole season I was just focusing on getting better, skating better, and playing better defensively." "Rumor is that the Ottawa Lynx are looking at picking you, do you want to play for them" "I would love to play for them, their AGM reached out to me and we had a nice conversation, very friendly guy." "Would you play for any team" "Yes, I will play for anyone, I want to prove myself in this more challenging league and I will be thankful for whoever gives me a chance" "What do you think your biggest strength is" "I would say my biggest strength is my defensive game, I spent a lot of my time with my Dad who played defense in the SHL. He taught me where to position and where to put my stick, I am ever thankful for his help. "Well Elias, thats it for our interview, anything else you'd like to say?" "If you don't pick me the puck will be in the back of your net *chuckles*" "Good Luck in your career Elias" "Thanks"

  22. Elias Dahlberg is an up and coming prospect in the VHL and star for MODO in Allsvenskan, but where did it all start. Early Years Elias Jonathen Dahlberg was born on May 23, 1999 in Sundsvall, Sweden. His mother, Johanne Alice Dahlberg was an architect just starting work for a Construction company in Sweden. She didn't make much, but still tried to support Elias. His father Patrik Lars Dahlberg was playing in the SHL for MODO as a defenseman. He was usually on the road, and thus Elias didn't spend much time with him. During off seasons Patrik would help teach his son how to play hockey, and Elias loved it more than anything in the world. He learned to skate 3 days after he learned to walk, and every day he would go home, do homework, then play hockey by himself or with his friends until bedtime. Elias only got better as he played. Elias loved the sport so much that he would beg to go with his father, and watch him play to learn and get better. His mother didn't know much about hockey even though her husband was a professional, but she supported Elias and brought him to practices and games, learning the sport and always the loudest mother in the stands (Elias got embarrassed). Novice Hockey Elias started playing competitive hockey when he was 5. He joined the Northwest HC in Sundsvall, playing against other 5-6 year olds. The first position he played was defense, just like his father. Over his first season he started dominating, putting up atleast one point every game he played. He had always tried his hardest, but his first rule to himself was always have fun. If he didn't have fun then he didn't think it was worth it. The next season Elias dominated even more, showcasing a skill set higher than most 6 year olds, even higher than most 9 year olds. His coaches and parents knew that he would be a special hockey player. That season Elias put up 70 points in his 30 game season. After he graduated from that league it was known to all that he would be a star. He started training harder and was able to join a U9 Travel Team -- Sundsvall Warriors. Elias and his team traveled to different towns and cities around Sweden, and Elias looked like he didn't belong there. He didn't put up the insane numbers that he did in U7. That season his team came second last, and Elias only put up 7 points in 50 games. That offseason his coach - Coach Andersson suggested he try forward in a rec league over the summer. Elias took the suggestion, and in his rec league he put up 25 points in 10 games. He liked forward more than defense, and started learning how to play forward. The next season he tried out for the team again, getting the spot easily. He quickly rose back up to his hype, and dominated as a forward. He found his role and succeeded at it, putting up 75 points in 50 games, and leading the league in goals with 43. Elias kept putting on shows, leading leagues in points and goals all the way to U14. In U14 Elias struggled more, he was a late bloomer and while everyone else shot up around him he stayed the same height. Being 6 inches shorter than everyone else wasn't good, he got crushed almost every game his first U14 season and had to learn to skate better to avoid being hit. It was at this age that he improved his defensive game. His dad taught him how to position, where to put your stick, and how to block shots and take away lanes. His defensive game grew a lot and he was on his way to becoming a true 2 way forward. Personal Tragedy and Home Life It was at 13 years old that Elias' mother passed away. She got diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and tragically passed away 6 months later. Leaving just Elias and his Father. Elias' Father retired from the SHL that season and started up his own Financial Advising business. His father became very busy, trying to support Elias and himself. Elias was saddened and affected on the ice and off the ice by his mother's passing. What once was a straight 90 student turned into a straight 70 student. Elias struggled with depression and was very hard on himself during that time. He lost all of his motivation, and lost all of his friends. After taking a month long break from hockey, Elias' dad suggested he get back on the ice and start playing again. The moment Elias stepped back on the ice he had suddenly changed, and every goal he scored, assist he made, or shot blocked he did for his mom. His dad took a month off work to help Elias get back into his normal self, and they had some quality bonding time. Elias' whole world had been shaken up, flipped upside down, and then partially flipped back. Allsvenskan Seasons When Elias was fifteen he signed a 3 year contract with MODO Hockey, located in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. Elias moved in with a billet family, and played two season for MODO. His first year as a forward he got checked in the knee and missed 20 games. He still dominated in that league, bringing MODO to the playoffs, something they hadn't seen in years. He ended that season with 60 points in 30 games, leading the league in points and goals. He brought home a lot of hardware, including MVP, Best Forward, Best Defensive Forward, Most Goals, and Most Points. Everyone noticed him that seasons, and had high expectations for the next. Elias smashed those high expectations, putting up up 80 points, 40 goals, and 40 assists in 50 games, leading MODO to their first of back to back titles. He once again won the same awards, smashing the U18 and U20 scoring record. In his last season he once again put up 80 points, and brought MODO to their second Allsvenskan title, and a promotion to the SHL. During his second and third seasons he had many lucrative offers from SHL teams looking to add an elite talent to their team, but Elias refused. He was and would be loyal to his friends and coaches in MODO, and wanted them to succeed since they gave him a chance. Whats Next Whats next for this Swedish Sensation, he has hopes of joining the VHL and smashing records there, but until then he will continue to have fun, train, and enjoy hockey. Coming into the next VHLM draft he seems to be a definite pick up that any team would love to have. What team could say no to a goal scoring, high talent, and defensive player who can body people and skate well. He looks to be a top 10 pick, but he doesn't care where he goes, he just wants to have fun playing hockey.
  23. 1) What are your thoughts on the league thus far? My thoughts are that this is a fun active league that I could enjoy very much getting to know people and scoring points 2) Which VHLM team would you like to be a part of next season? (Can find the current VHLM teams here) Ottawa Lynx, their AGM reached out to me, congratulated me, and overall seemed very helpful and kind 3) What are the long-term goals for your player? Become a cup winner, lead the league in points, and be a great defensive forward 4) Who from the NHL would you compare your VHL player to? Pierre Luc Dubois 5) How did you arrive at your choice for your player's name? Elias (Elias Pettersson - favourite Canucks player) Dahlberg (Mix of Dahlen and Berg - 2nd favourite canucks prospect and Goldberg being my favourite hockey movie character) 6) What attribute(s) do you think you will be focusing on first with your player? Skating and Defense
  24. Elias Dahlberg Age: 19 Position: Left Wing Height: 6'3 Weight: 196 Hometown: Sundsvall, Sweden NHL Comparison: Pierre Luc-Dubois Elias Dahlberg is a Swedish Phenom playing for MODO of the Allsvenskan league. Putting up 40 goals and 20 assists for a total of 60 points in his first season there is no doubt that this guy can score. He uses his size and skating to get the puck in the net. He is a very shy guy, but it comes out of him whenever he scores. Every goal to him is his first ever. He is a loyal player, always looking out for his teammates who he cares about, and isn't afraid to be physical in order to protect them Strengths: Skating: Elias is a big guy at 6'3 196 pounds, but don't let that fool you. He is one of the best skaters at his size, and one of the best in Allsvenskan. He can get around almost anyone, even without a shifty move. Defense: Elias plays a strong defensive game, always having his stick and body in the right place. He isn't afraid to block shots and take on for the team. He can play the shorthanded minutes, and is a great addition to any teams PK. He is a takeaway master, using his body and space to cause turnovers, and isn't afraid to skate with the puck on the PK, knowing he can get by most players. Size: Size is an important part of hockey and Elias knows how to use his. Always causing turnovers with his size, he can also use it to his advantage when skating into the offensive zone, protecting the puck, and battling for it in corners. Weaknesses: Physicality: Elias isn't scared to be physical, but he isn't very good at being physical. Someone of his size you would expect to give out crushing blows, but Elias is the exception. He needs to work on his physical game if he wants to be successful in the VHL Puck Handling: Good hands are one of the best tools and scorer can have, and Elias doesn't have them. He doesn't use shifty moves to get around players, always using his size and speed to go through or around them. But adding even one or two dekes to his scoring arsenal would do wonders for him Shot Accuracy: Elias couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 feet away. Something just hasn't clicked for him on how to shoot in a certain area, most of the time he just blasts one and hope it hits the net. Most of his goals aren't from shots. If he shoots from over 20 feet away it has a higher chance of going into the stands then into the net. To score the 30 goals he put up last season he mostly crashed the net, or tucked it in on a breakaway. Quotes: Elias is one of the best players I have seen play, and coached. He brings a lot to the table with his skating and defensive skills. He is very raw right now, but definitely has the talent to succeed in the VHL" - Born Hellkvist, MODO Head Coach Elias is an excellent player and scorer. One of my best friends in the locker room, and always the best player on the ice. He is a very good skater, and always looking out for us. Hopefully he has success wherever he goes." - Sam Marklund, Elias' Teammate Career Stats: GP: 120 Points: 220 Goals: 150 Assists: 70 PIM: 46 SHG: 9 PPG: 39 PPP: 52
