So a few short seasons ago play career lengths were changed and we all gained some more time on this mortal plain. Now there is a gap in death and creation rate that I aim to solve. Therefore come the TDL Yun Chiang will retire and end his season with the London United. With the lack of recreates I want to bolster the M in the upcoming seasons and bolster a draft class that will be one of if not the weakest the VHL has seen ever.

Dil reacted to JCarson in Molly the Cat talks about Training.
Molly the Cat, during our last interview you noted that you are sticking to your regular training process over the offseason. Can you tell us and your loyal fans what that would look like?

I break my training process into several parts that I believe have significant importance to my success. I will try to detail those sections and discuss why they are important.

Sleeping: This may seem like an odd place to start but for anyone who is extremely active and pushes their body to perform, it is important for them to understand the bodies’ need to rest and recover. We do that best by getting sleep. I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night, at regular times. There are also times where I have been extremely active, and I may even take an afternoon nap to help recharge.

Nutrition and Hydration: When someone is pushing their body as hard as they can they need to make sure they are taking in the appropriate nutrition and hydration to support that activity. As a professional athlete I am lucky that I have a team nutritionist who comes along side me and builds a meal and hydration plan for me. However even before I was playing professionally, I made sure that I matched my food intake and hydration intake to the activities I was doing.

Muscle Building: As part of my training, I am always working on building and maintaining muscle mass so that I have the strength to compete. I break that down into two segments. The first is overall strength, this is used when I am doing game activities like putting pressure on a player against the boards or trying to keep a player from lifting my stick. The second area is explosive power, the ability to go from a stopped position to full speed, or the ability to bring my stick from a stopped position through a shot quickly.

Stamina/Endurance: Building up your ability to work at a strenuous pace for extended periods is important. Most shifts in a game last between 30 to 45 seconds and can be easily managed. However, there are times when you can get stuck on the ice for an extended time, and it is important that you can play at an elevated level the entire time. Those who play penalty kill have experienced this frequently.
Individual Skating Practice: I make sure that I get time on the ice daily to practice skating. There are three basic areas I work on. First, I work on my basic skating, the ability to get to top speed quickly, and the endurance to maintain my top speed for a while. Second, I work on my footwork. The use of my edges, the ability to turn, stop and change direction as quickly as possible and the ability to move between forward and backwards skating with ease. Lastly, I work on other ice movements, dropping into a block, getting up off the ice, etc.

Individual Skills Practice: This is the time I spend on the ice with the puck, shooting, passing, face offs and stick handling. The ability to control the puck and make it do what you want it to do, at high speed without looking at it is the goal. I find when I am talking with young players this is not the area they struggle with, so I will not go into too much detail on this part.

Mental Preparedness and Toughness: This is one of the most underrated skills that a player needs, the ability to be mentally present for a game. I include pregame activities like watching game tapes and understanding your own tendencies but also those of your opponent in this. However, this goes much deeper and involves the ability to control your thoughts, especially during adversity and stay focused on the goal. It is the ability to dig deep and exhibit grit, it is the ability to control oneself when an opponent crosses the line so that you do not take the retaliation penalty.

I hope this discussion will help assist anyone looking at pursuing a professional hockey career. The process takes time and determination and will not be easy. It is, however, extremely rewarding.

Thank you to all of the players who have put their faith in the Marlins over the years, and have given their all for the team. There has been a lot of heartbreak and disastrous collapses in our past, but now we have something we never had before. A championship. I hope this can be the first step towards building a franchise that continues to grow and expand, developing more VHL stars and attracting more blossoming talent. I hope this is the first step towards establishing our culture of growth, development and ultimately having a great time. Being a Marlin is something to cherish forever, to build into our identities. When you walk into the dressing room for the first time, breathe in the Marlins Legend spirit. Look at the legacy of the players before you, and know that you yourself are already a part of that legacy. Love and support your fellow Marlins Legends, and carry on all of the lessons and values instilled during your time here.

Dil reacted to vincentlg2007 in BREAKING NEWS: Calgary forward asks for Trade!!!
LF NEWS CALGARY- It is now official. The saga has officially added a new controversy to an already eventful case. A Wranglers forward has asked the Calgary management group and its General Manager Kris Rice to get traded. Yes, this is right one of Daniel Janser, Landon Wolanin, Leandro Goncalves, Omi Aberg, Sax Justice, Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin, Lorenzo Cobberson, Larry Abass Jr., Darius Marimoto II, Adam Rage, Sam Azjha, Ty Justice, Tristen Gorlim, Tom Creeg or Vincent Laroche-Gagnier has sent a formal trade request. This comes after a sad and brutal playoff exit to the Vancouver Wolves in the first round. Despite winning the victory cup ( rewarded to the team ending the regular season with the most points) the Albertan team fell in 5 games to their british colombian counter part. A player requesting a trade despite being on a team who's alined for success is rare. Is it a veteran in the prime of his career who doesn't believe in Calgary's chances for a cup? Is the Calgary Wranglers team environnement toxic? Yes, there's really a case to ask the question is there a bad atmosphere in the locker room of the legendary canadian team ?

One thing is sure an event like this tend to reveal many other informations in the following days/weeks.

Now the question on everyone lips... Who is this player ? Well the identity of the player is unrevealed as of now even tho there seems to be a stand-out candidate. More on the matter should be revealed next week

Does a baker celebrate when they open the oven door? Does the police officer celebrate when they give a ticket to a driver who failed to follow the rules? Does a teacher celebrate when they are done moaning about how hard their job is? The answer is more than likely not. The same can be said about Prague winning Warsaw. Business as usual for many in Prague. I would be lying if I said that we were anxious or nervous when the series was 3-1 for Warsaw. I would be lying if I said that it was a surprise that Prague won Warsaw. However, I am not lying when I say: you are welcome, Warsaw.

You are welcome, Warsaw, you got to compete against a superior opponent and you did your best. What Warsaw has shown to VHL, and to the whole world is that no matter how much better the opposition is, no matter how high the mountain is in front of you, no matter how unlikely it is that you win, what matters is that you try. You might not always win, you might not win even half of the time, but when you keep on trying - you will get that much closer to the top. Warsaw showed remarkable spirit in this series. They managed to lead the series 3-1 at one point. Did they get carried away? Did they think the series is as good as over? No. Warsaw knew they were touched by the lady luck. Warsaw knew there is virtually no chance anyone can be that lucky for that long. Warsaw staff, players, and fans knew their odds are against them when they were up 3-1. But still, they kept going. They did not stop trying. Game after game, they lost, as everybody expected. Did they stop trying? No. They kept going. Eventually, the series was tied at 3-3. A huge sign of relief was heard coming from the Warsaw camp: "now we have a chance again, it's even". How did game seven end? Prague was better on the scoreboard maybe, but the real winner was Warsaw.

Warsaw showed everybody what it means to compete and to try. I think I speak for everybody in VHL when I say: thank you, Warsaw. Nobody gave you chance before the series, nobody gave you a chance when you were leading 3-1, nobody gave you a chance when the series was tied 3-3, but still, you showed up and tried your best. There is a lot we can all learn from that. Sure, it might not make Warsaw camp feel that much better now, but I reckon this series will be the real reason why we will see Warsaw do well in the upcoming seasons. So many new lessons were learned, Warsaw players got to play against bigger, faster, and just better players. They will train even harder during the upcoming off-season, Warsaw team and the players will be a dangerous group in the future.

In the middle of all this, I don't want to forget Prague. How do you think Prague staff, players, and fans feel right now? We were always going to win. We were the heavy favorites. We are forever known as the team that beat an underdog team. That kind of stigma and the mental burden will be hard to knock off your shoulders. I think the next round will be a real test for Prague. Not because we play another underdog team, but because we have to try and motivate ourselves. That is a lot easier said than done.
