Kinda wild to see that we are a month and a half into the year and despite “low recruitment numbers” we’re already like halfway to our annual total from pre-2018.

Given that I became blue in September of 2017 I will be taking the credit for the boom; you’re all welcome.

    1. I feel like our team responded well after the little dry spell we had. We've been pretty dominant and are back at the top of the Eastern Conference.
    2. Consistency is key. The downs will happen, and we just need to remember to do what we can, and the results will come.
    3. McKeggegger has been unreal. It feels like every game he has huge point totals. It's a shame that he will be leaving the VHLM next season, as he has clearly found a sweet spot in the 200 TPE build.
    4. No one cares about the E, and I think Vancouver repeats in the VHL.
    5. That's a tough one. Genuinely my first VHL Draft experience was pretty cool, and my entire first run as a first gen was a lot of fun. But then like a decade later with Markinson I had a really good time too. I think some of the funnest parts of the league are getting to know the community and meeting the members on the site.

    1. Ottawa has dropped four straight games. How will we recover from this?
    2. For a short period of time, we were first in the league. How can we get back to this status?
    3. What player, other than your own, has really stood out so far this season?
    4. Who will be the champions in the other two leagues this season?
    5. What is your favorite VHL experience?
    6. What team will finish atop the VHLM standings this season?

    Good luck this week!

    1. Well I think I'll have to step up my game a little bit if we want to win more games I know i haven't been playing very well.

    2. We will have to play harder and keep on shooting on the other net and I'll just have to make those big saves.

    3. There is someone on the team that I've been keeping an eye on and that guy is Gregger McKeggegger with 75 points in just 38 games he's been on fire for the team.

    4. The Oslo Storm for the VHLE and The Vancouver Wolves for the VHL I have a really good feeling about these two teams being champions of their respective Leagues.

    5. Don't really know what you mean by favorite vhl experience you're going to have to try and be more specific.

    6. Well I think it's going to be us we're going to pull from behind and we're going to be on top this season as well.

    1. Just gotta tinker with lines, make sure the chemistry is good. Honestly maybe a full rest day or two, we've been working pretty hard to get better in practice and maybe some rest and relaxation would help.
    2. Just win. Stop losing. Not much to it really, we had a really good streak for awhile, let's get back to it.
    3. It's hard not to just look at the top of the stats and see captain nugget dominating the league. It's an extremely impressive season.
    4. I think Oslo has a strong chance in the VHLE, and in the big leagues I'll go with the extremely common pick of Vancouver.
    5. I think either winning the cup last year with Vancouver as my old player retired, or playing on Bratislava in the first ever VHLE season and having a career revitalization.
    6. One of Mexico City or Ottawa, Mississauga also has a pretty good chance.

Viper reacted to scoop in Every Stockholm @ Geneva game this season went to a shootout
The Stockholm Vikings and Geneva Rush have ten scheduled games against each other, five in each city. They have already played out all of the games in Geneva, and every single one of them went to a shootout. This just seems so ridiculously improbably that I deemed it worthy of a VHL.com article (note: literally anything can be a VHL.com article so that means nothing and I'm just filling words that I don't need to, because this will inevitably end up being like 400+ words like half of my VHL.com articles end up being). What a waste of words that last sentence was, huh?

So anyway, let's take a look at how the players have fared in those shootouts.

The goaltenders in all five shootouts were Jean Mercier for Geneva and Travis Clark for Stockholm. Mercier performed much better, stopped 12/15 while Clark stopped only 7/14. With that large of disparity in goals allowed, it's no surprise that Geneva won 4 of the 5 games. The leading scorer is Kobe Johnson, who scored on 3 of 5 attempts for the Rush. Jeffrey Bezos for the Vikings has found that money can't buy you a shootout goal, going 0 for 5 in his endeavors. Listed below are the stats for the shooters.

    Vikings
    Thor Odinsson (1/5)
    Jeffrey Bezos (0/5)
    Johnny Kalamazoo (2/4)
    Logan Foley (0/1)

    Rush
    Leonard Triller (2/5)
    Kobe Johnson (3/5)
    Luke Glendenning (1/3)
    Matt Rooster (1/1)

The stats in the shootouts mean very little to me. It just seems bonkers to me that every Stockholm @ Geneva game ended in a shootout. Even though the matchups went 4-1 in favor of Geneva, it really doesn't get much closer than this.

He was invited to try out for the league, and after a rigorous evaluation, he was selected to join a team. He was thrilled to be given this opportunity, and he was eager to show the world what he could do.

Viper reacted to Beketov in S87 Trade Deadline & Theme Week
    Hello @Members!

It’s that time of the season again, theme week!

Of course, that also means that the Trade Deadline is Monday, February 20th at 3pm EST. This also means that anyone wishing to re-create for the S89 draft can do so starting at midnight that same day.

    ---

Most of you aren’t here for that though. You just want that sweet sweet theme week TPE. So, for this season, we've decided on a theme of:

Maybe you want to talk about historic rivalries, maybe you e been battling it out with a specific team or a specific player your career, maybe you just want to reminisce about how much better rivalries used to be (back in my day…). It doesn’t matter just make it on theme!

To earn your Theme Week TPE, write an article, create a graphic, or record a podcast with some connection to “rivalries”.

    ---

In order to claim the theme week bonus of 6 Uncapped TPE, simply submit your Themed PT (Graphic, Media Spot, or 6-TPE Podcast), and claim it as normal. After claiming the PT portion, you can use the same link, and claim the uncapped portion as follows: Claim Uncapped > Other > Doubles Week. (Note: you do not need to post your link in this thread to claim either portion of TPE).

Make sure to tag your articles with “theme week” so we can collect all the great work in one easy-to-find spot.
If you have already submitted a Point Task for this week, or are in the midst of claiming a multi-week Media Spot/Podcast, you may still submit a Theme Week PT this week, and claim the capped portion on the next available week, following your multi-week claim.

Also, if you have a single job that pays 6+, you may claim the theme week bonus as long as you complete your duties for the week. If you are in the EFL or SBA and have completed their most recent Media Week, you may use that to claim the Uncapped theme week bonus, but a PT must be completed this week in order to claim the Capped portion, whether that is completed here or through Affiliate Welfare.

Note: Only players who are S88 or older may claim the theme week bonus.

I’m not going to lie, when I first joined this league I was very intimidated. I’m used to the NHL game sim leagues and I’ve only been in one other that was somewhat similar to this one so after looking around on my first day, you can understand why I took a few days to digest everything and finally make a player. The first challenge I encountered was understanding what the discord actually was. There was not really any explanation as to how to make a player and what the sim engine actually is. Luckily, the newcomer help channel was very useful and the community was very helpful in explaining what the next few steps were. After I made a player, someone (discord user N0HBDY) from the recruitment staff reached out to me and walked me through joining a team in the minors. It was very appreciated. The GM of the team I joined was responsive and welcomed me with open arms, as did my new teammates. It’s taken a little bit of time to get used to and I’m not sure how much I’m actually going to be able to progress and how good I’ll be able to make my player, as I’m not much of a writer or graphic designer. I wish there was some other way for people like me to gain TPE but I understand it is all about cultivating an engaging and active community. Overall, this entire league is absolutely bonkers and I am excited to be a part of it!
