Said many times that I am willing to sit a whole season just so I don't have to play for certain teams. I hope a team "takes a flyer" on me and I make them waste a pick. BUT! Keep in mind I have 3 teams that I am willing to play for in Europe and I know at least one of them is very interested in me. I doubt I slip to the second round since I am the second best player in the draft, and best forward in the draft. One of those 3 teams will pick me in the 1st round, since as of right now I will sign any deal with them. "Takes a flyer" implies that it is a late pick or one that doesn't matter in this case. So technically they wouldn't be wasting a pick considering the draft doesn't even have two rounds worth of prospects. But yeah if someone is interested, they are interested early. Well aware what it means, but I am a "flyer" in the first round for 7 out of 10 teams. Because if any of those 7 teams pick me it will be next to impossible to sign me. I am clearly 1st round talent, hell obviously even top two talent. But I am a "flyer" for them because they pick me since I am the best available but risk picking me for nothing That's kind of what I just said haha Eh... not really. You kinda danced around it. You said a flyer is a late pick or one that does not matter. But I went further by saying I am a "Flyer" even at 2nd overall technically if that team picking at 2nd overall is one of the teams I refuse to sign with/play for. Oh but you will, when I am in my 3rd-4th season. I actually would love to go undrafted, not sign with a VHL team, play in VHLM next season then the teams will come begging the following season. I am only willing to sign with/play for 3 teams so who knows I can very well go undrafted. You say no now but you will be one of the first teams begging in 2 seasons when I am a UFA. Sir William Covington III's self imposed trade deadline for himself has come and gone. It almost like the GM's in the VHLM have stood their ground and did not budge. Most people expected Covington to do a about face and say that teams still can trade for him. Well... he didn't. Actually he stuck with it and stood his ground like the GM's. He issued a statement to the league right at midnight "It's 12am and no one has traded me. I was keeping in touch with GM Ahma. He told me two teams were kicking the tires on me. But one was too cheap and the other never ever got back to him even after he accepted their offer. I find that stupid and annoying. These teams and all teams do not deserve someone as talented as me. I will stay in Saskatoon where at least I am liked and wanted. I was only being shopped because Ahma wanted picks for the future. Teams at this point will have to come to me and beg me to allow Ahma to trade me to them. You have made a powerful enemy on this day. Any VHL team that the rest of the GMs are affiliated with I will tell them "offer is too cheap" or I will ignore any attempt to contact me like the 2nd GM. You not alone fucked your VHLM team but you fucked your VHL team. I hope you are happy with your decision. If you do not understand what I am saying then I will make it simple "IF YOU WANT ME BEG ME TO PLAY FOR YOU" How the GM's and in both league react to this statement will be interesting. Covington is clearly the best forward in the upcoming draft. But now he is refusing to play for a unspecified amount of teams. Leading up to this announcement he was already refusing to play for 4-5 teams Quebec, Seattle, Cologne and Stockholm with Calgary on the fence of that list. But with this announcement that list will change. How much it changes is questionable.
