It's time to kick off our second Town of Salem game! Typically, I'd throw in a bit of roleplay and such here, but there are a few things I should address: Rules are here The Wiki is here An informative video is here And you'll probably be able to find many more resources if you're curious. PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW, EVEN IF YOU'RE EXPERIENCED. -Day 1 begins NOW, and will last about 24 hours. Subsequent days will be about 12 hours in length, from about 9:00 AM (inconsistently) to 9:00 PM (fairly consistently). -I forgot to mention LAST WILLS in my role distribution messages like I did in the last game, so I'll do so now. A Last Will is a message which you write and which is published when you die. It can include anything from a list of your night actions and helpful information to just messing with people. It's most convenient, if you'd like to write a last will, to type it up as a reply to your role message on the forum, though if you're stubborn enough to do everything on Discord I'll take that as well. -Please format all votes for lynching LIKE THIS. If you don't and it's obvious that it's a vote, I'll accept it anyway, but please do that because you don't want me scrolling past your message. -THE JAILOR ROLE HAS CHANGED. Last game, those who were jailed were sent a list of questions, written by me. This was a big headache as it involved an extra step for communication, and anything that happened after I went to bed for the night could not be communicated between jailor and prisoner. So, here's what we'll be doing. -If you are jailed, you will receive an invite to a Discord server, which the Jailor has access to under an alt account. -The Jailor is able to talk to you at any point before the morning phase begins. They will ask you questions. If you're online, don't be an asshole and ignore them. -You will be removed from the server at the start of the next day phase, and the server's message history will be cleared. Now! I think one thing to note is that a decent amount--certainly not all, but a decent amount--of what was going on before has cooled down. Even with the thread last week going up and escalating into a shitshow, I found it a pleasant surprise how few trolls we had popping up in there. It certainly wasn't like the initial SBA thread back in November when multiple people with decent status in this community were coming in and dropping the r-word and telling the SBA to go buy a pack of tampons and such. This thread is the first example of an entire thread on the matter that's pretty civilized--let's keep it that way. Even those of us who aren't at the top of the VHL are still representatives of the VHL, and, as we've seen, have the ability to reflect poorly on the community. Well done to those here who have managed to respectfully disagree, a virtue that should certainly have been aimed for by many people (myself included) much sooner.

Both are great but there's a tiny bit too much going on in #1 for my liking.

This is absolutely true, and in my opinion it's more or less true on both sides. Thanks for the insight, hopefully this thread generates some meaningful discussion rather than people just throwing insults at each other.

I start this with the hope that everyone (myself included) is more acquainted with the game this time around and that those of us who didn't know what was going on before will find a second try to be a more enjoyable experience. Important things to consider, and be reminded of, before this game starts: What's changed: -The winners of the previous game, should they sign up here, may request a role to play in this game, with a 50% chance of receiving said role. The vampires won our first game, so this privilege will be extended to @Enorama, @omgitshim, @Rayzor_7, @pennypenny, and @Nykonax, should they choose to participate in this game. As, last game, I also slightly screwed up the role of Trapper, I am extending this privilege to @Josh for this game as well. -Last game, I put a 50-word limit on last wills. What hasn't: -Stay on top of your night actions, people! Even if you're not planning on doing anything on one night in particular, tell me that you're not doing anything so I know you aren't just not paying attention. If two nights in a row go by without participation in the public thread or submission of a night action, I will (after sending an activity warning after one night) swing the Mighty Gustav Hammer of Justice and you will be modkilled, no matter what your role is. -Also, stay on top of your last wills! Many people simply didn't have one last game when they certainly could have. No punishment for not having a will, just something to keep in mind. -I can answer questions about rules and game mechanics, but only if asked directly. If people start doing something stupid because they think the rules say something when they actually don't, I will not intervene. If you want an official check on the rules, ping me or shoot me a DM. -Due to my own inability to post things at the exact times that I need to, I should reinforce that the changes between day and night phases come, officially, whenever I make the post. Consider the start of the day phase, in general, 9:00 AM (though I'm almost never awake by then), and consider the start of the night phase, in general, 9:00 PM (and I should be fairly on top of those, at least). I'll try to let people know when times will be shifted around, but probably won't always do so. Just use common sense and don't panic--I'll get things up when I get them up. -Also, finally, all players should make an effort to be online at the start of the night phase, as Jailor communications happen during the night phase. It's simply unfair to ask the Jailor to make an informed decision on the fate of their prisoner when said prisoner has already checked out for the night. Of course, I get that time zones are weird for some of us and real life takes priority over the game, but if you are, within reason, able to check in around that time, please do so. SIGN-UPS CLOSE MONDAY! Exact time unknown, but they'll close whenever I make a post saying they've closed in this thread.
