  1. Sorry for missing my pick. I'll take: F - Sigard Petrenko @MMFLEX
  2. I'm in. I'll be a group manager if needed.
  3. @Beaviss I don't know if World Cup games count but, Sigard Petrenko beats up Pistil Stamen at 7:59 of 1st period https://vhlportal.com/game/WC/82/WC82-26.html Losing the title a day before my retirement.
  4. Few things get me more excited than an article on the greatest VHLM team of all time. Great job @N0HBDY!
  5. Really like this idea. Could allow 50 or 25 cent increments instead of rounding down to the whole dollar. 784 TPE would cost $7.75 instead of $7 in your proposal. That would also help reduce duplicate teams. I don’t see the “everyone might copy one person” scenario as a valid enough reason to not implement it. I think making the picks hidden until everyone has completed would be enough to prevent that from happening. I would play for no TPE, so even if this wasn’t allowed for TPE, you (or someone else) can run it unofficially and count me in.
  6. If you're looking for someone to blame for Chicago's current roster, don't blame the GM. Blame the league for: a) expanding too much OR not contracting when needed. b) creating a new league to reduce the available player pool. Not sure how you can expect a GM to field a full team when there's not enough players to go around. How many teams didn't have at least a 6-4-1 roster this season? 5? Sure, Chicago was the most ridiculous of the bunch. But it's a league-wide problem.
  7. 1. I've severely slowed down on these pressers due to the implementation of revamped trivia and game recaps. Do you want to see more frequent press conferences again or are you content with the amount of earning currently available? Personally, I like press conference the most out of all the secondary tasks. I think it’s fun to answer questions. So I would vote for weekly press conferences. But I’m also off the team at the end of this season, so I’m not sure it really matters what I think. 2. How are you liking the new point task options? I like them, I think Trivia is handled great and the game recap is a nice option. It’s always good to give everyone more options for earning TPE. If I had one criticism, it would be why not let people do game recaps on games they’re in? I understand they want people to get more involved in the league by looking at other teams/games, but really the players of the games would be able to produce the best content of that game, so you should be able to do a game recap of a game you’re in. 3. The season has concluded, we traded for Degroot at the deadline, and play Calgary in the first round. Thoughts on how our regular season panned out? It was a fantastic regular season. Things did get a little shaky at the end there, after the trade for Degroot. But we’re a stronger team and I think that will show in the playoffs. 4. How do you feel about the "meta fix" - new hybrid attributes coming into play next season? It’s a good fix, I like it. I still think attributes should be much more expensive, basically making it impossible for anyone to reach 99 in any category. It’s a lot more difficult now, but still achievable. My simple fix would have been to just make 70 the starting value for PA and then greatly increase the cost of all the attributes. But the fix they implemented is good and it should add some needed spice to the player build. 5. Have you been following the NHL? How is your team doing? I don’t really follow the NHL because I’m a Sabres fan and they have been terrible for the last 10+ years. Since I no longer live in Buffalo, it’s tough for me to watch all the games. I still catch some games here and there and watch highlights. Overall it seems like the team is coming together and the future seems brighter than it has in a while, but who knows. 6. Any bold VHL playoff predictions? Nothing really too bold. I think I’ll agree with VSN that Moscow will upset London. Not sure how bold that is.
  8. 17th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards – S82 Another exciting regular season has come to a close. That means we can dole out some regular season awards! Welcome everyone to the 16th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards honoring the highs and lows of S82! Thank you to everyone that reads this. These awards have been created by me. There is no voting process and they are not officially recognized by the VHL Board of Governors. I wrote descriptions for most of these award names in the original award post. For each award, I list the winners from the last 5 seasons. If you want to check out the award winners from every season, use this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sAZtX3bxVpPTIsKe1rSRVOenH1-iyWzbQEdR9ZvYOdU/edit?usp=sharing I also document the “all-time” record for each category. Of course, by that I mean all-time for the existence of these awards, not all-time, all-time. Clear? Ok, good. Let’s get things underway! The Pylon Award (worst +/- rating) – creed @assassin6898 As the sim engine is getting stretched beyond its limits, we are seeing records just get completely shattered. Last season, chris foley shocked the world by destroying the all-time record for worst +/- by 19. That is absolutely nothing compared to what creed did this season. creed set a new all-time record with a -156! Let this be a warning to all lowercase-only named players. Having done this for as long as I have, you see records come and go. Normally I’m hesitant to use absolute terms, but this case is extreme, so I’ll make this claim: We will not see this record broken, ever. All-time record: S82 – creed - -156 Last 5 Pylon Award Winners: Season Player + / - S82 creed -156 S81 chris foley -96 S80 Nathan Steele -77 S79 Jared Carter -49 S78 David Tavau -40 The Gandhi Award (least penalty minutes, min 1,000 minutes played) – Omi Aberg @osens For the first time in 5 seasons, there were no players with 0 PIM. Omi peacefully wins the award with 2 PIM in 2,132 minutes played. No tie-breaker needed as no one else had only 2 PIM. All-time record: S81 - Brendan Telker - 0 PIM, 2211 Minutes Played Last 5 Gandhi Award Winners: Season Player PIM Minutes Played S82 Omi Aberg 2 2132 S81 Brendan Telker 0 2211 S80 Jakob Sosa 0 2052 S79 The Terrible Trivium 0 2084 S78 Sven Reikkinen 0 2007 The Major2 Award (most major penalties) - Owen Taylor @Owen Taylor Newcomer Owen Taylor showed they are not afraid of spending some time alone in the penalty box. They committed 12 major penalties for a total of 60 PIM from those majors. That is more PIM just in major penalties than Taylor had all of last season. In their case, it’s getting hit. A lot. More than anyone has ever been hit before, in fact. Trunov got hit an all time high 408 times. That’s 65 more than the next closest player (Guy Lambert @Spartakiller2) and 115 more than 3rd place (Jonathan Ori @ROOKIE745). Amazing. Jerome bested their all-time record from last season by 2 shots, totaling 713 shots on goal. Special recognition to runner-up Taylor Mourning @scoop, who recorded exactly 666 shots on goal. They were expected to runaway with each award again this season. Taylor Mourning had different ideas. They had 195 of their own shots blocked to win this award. That’s 10 more than runner-up, Jerome Reinhart. Previous all-time high shots blocked was 242. creed blocked an inconceivable 460 shots! That is 218 more than the previous all-time high. That difference itself would have won the award for a handful of seasons. Unbelievable. I know I said this on the Pylon award, but I really mean it now. This record will never be broken. Maybe that’s because of food safety issues as well. I don’t know. Regardless, the Warsaw coaches listened and sent Chicken Wing out on the ice for an all-time high 2,511 minutes. 10. The San Diego Marlins recently signed upcoming goalie Clueless Wallob. Near the bottom of the standings, the Marlins are currently retooling their team to prepare them for future success. During the courting and signing of Clueless, there was optimism that the hot goalie prospect could help the team for the remainder of this season. Through eleven games, that optimism has been erased and replaced with skepticism and, in some cases, downright anger. “Clueless is the best name for him, because he has no clue what he’s doing in net” said one angry season ticket holder. “I don’t know if management thinks it’s funny signing a player based on their name. But it’s not. Watching someone get chased out of the net game after game is not funny. I don’t care what their name is.” The numbers backup the concerns of the fans. Through 11 games, Clueless has a GAA of a whopping 6.40 and has been pulled from an astounding 5 of the 11 games. Clueless has only 1 win from those 11 starts. If there is some silver lining, it is from his raw save numbers. Clueless has 3 games with 50+ saves. Marlins’ management has stood behind Clueless during his rocky start in between the pipes. “We’re very excited to have Clueless on our team. He’s got a great pedigree and he works so hard on his craft. He has our full support for the rest of this season and, hopefully beyond that.” The final part of that quote serves a reminder that Clueless will be eligible for the VHLM draft during the offseason. Clueless is already joining a crowded goalie market and regardless of player pedigree or sponsoring by the DMaximus player agency, these recent results have certainly had an effect on his draft stock. One VHLM insider was quoted as saying “look, every VHLM team already has at least 2 goalies, only a couple are going to be leaving to the E in the offseason. Goalie is not an ‘in-demand’ position. Struggling like Clueless has will give all VHLM GMs at least a momentary pause before drafting Clueless.” It’s tough for any new goalie in this league. joining a team in the middle of the season. Especially one near the bottom of the standings. It takes time to build a connection with your defense. Establishing that connection is especially difficult when they’re bots. About working with bots, Clueless said “You know, I don’t really speak bot, you know. So it’s tough to tell them where I want them and how I want them to play. I say go here and they look at me puzzled, which is tough for them to look, because I don’t think they have eyes. But I know they’re looking, just not how we look. But, believe me, they look. They look and they say they don’t understand. Well they don’t really say they don’t understand because they can’t talk, they’re just bots, but the same way they look when they can’t look, they talk when they can’t talk. So they’re looking at me and saying “I don’t understand” without looking and talking. Get it?” Working well with bots, humans, management, and fans is all part of the job requirements for a VHL goalie. We’ll see how Clueless is able to adopt to all of this as he begins his career as a professional goaltender.

  13. Thanks for the offer! Clueless will #jointhebigfish!
  14. Might be ignoring the -less part of the name, but I like it. I didn't think of it until now, because I was planning on using this name for a while, but this does fit in with the whole Clue thing, but maybe I'm the villain, being Clueless. Or just needing guidance to find Clue, to complete me.

  17. Bot players are always outcasts. No one wants to have to play them, yet sometimes it’s required to send them out on the ice. I wanted to take this theme week opportunity to shine a light on this necessary evil, our underappreciated bots. Here is my VHL Bot Dream Team. DAV C – The search for the greatest bot of all time starts and ends with DAV C. DAV C owns 3 of the top 8 most bot points in a season ranks, including the top two slots. Season# Player Name Team GP G A P 36 DAV C CGY 72 7 20 27 30 DAV C RIG 72 9 16 25 38 DAV C HSK 72 7 11 18 A couple funny things about this: 1) The most points ever scored by a bot in a season is 27. 2) None of DAV C’s top season were on Davos. In fact, their best season on Davos was season 18, where they scored 5 points. Still there is no way around it, DAV C is the best bot ever to strap on the skates and is the centerpiece of the VHL Bot Dream Team. COL LW3 – This might be the most controversial selection to the Bot Dream Team. COL LW3 only had one noteworthy season, Season 56. But it is the best season ever for a bot LW. Showing that level of flash, even once, is enough to get you on the Bot Dream Team. I know I’ll probably get hate mail from SEA fans, because SEA LW probably should have this spot because of their Season 18 & 19 performances, but the problem is the records show more than one SEA LW for Season 18, so I’m not sure what to do about that. The cleaner COL LW3 gets the nod. Season# Player Name Team GP G A P 56 COL LW3 COL 72 6 14 20 DAV RW2 – To round out the forwards, I wanted a power forward who could throw their weight around and contribute offensively as well. DAV RW2 fit that bill, having a couple seasons where they tallied some points and dished out some hit. Unlike their namesake, DAV C, DAV RW2 actually had these good season for Davos. Season# Player Name Team GP G A P HIT 32 DAV RW2 DAV 72 4 13 17 70 57 DAV RW2 DAV 72 2 2 4 62 51 DAV RW2 DAV 72 4 10 14 55 CAL D2 – While CAL D2 can’t lay claim to the most points by a bot defenseman in a season, that goes to his counterpart CAL D4, who scored 22 points for Calgary in season 20, CAL D2 has had a much more consistent career. Check out this consistency: Season# Player Name Team GP G A P 26 CAL D2 CGY 72 3 13 16 42 CAL D2 CGY 72 1 15 16 35 CAL D2 CGY 72 3 12 15 37 CAL D2 CGY 72 4 10 14 Alex Rawnsley – That’s right! Bots used to have names. Bot Alex gets the nod here because they are the iron man of bots, owning the top two spots for most minutes played by a bot in a season. That includes a season where they averaged over 31 minutes per game! My Dream Team needs the kind of player who will never tire out. Check out these stats from all their seasons where they played over 1,500 minutes: Season# Player Name POS GP G A P +/- PIM SB MP AMG 40 Alex Rawnsley D 72 1 7 8 0 80 70 2290 31.81 30 Alex Rawnsley D 72 0 4 4 -38 44 33 2122 29.48 28 Alex Rawnsley D 72 1 11 12 -71 142 84 1969 27.34 36 Alex Rawnsley D 72 2 3 5 41 65 26 1818 25.25 35 Alex Rawnsley D 72 0 2 2 36 98 38 1798 24.97 38 Alex Rawnsley D 72 4 6 10 -44 20 61 1703 23.65 37 Alex Rawnsley D 72 1 3 4 4 2 32 1654 22.98 Reserve players: I wanted to give special notice to these players, who came close to making the squad, but just missed. HEL D3 – HEL D3 makes the squad because they are one of two bots to ever have won 2 fights in the same season. We’ll need that type of toughness. For those wondering, DAV RW1 was the other bot who won 2 fights in a season. HSK RW – This guy had a season where they had 5 goals on 18 shots. That’s a 27.78% shooting percentage. A sharpshooter like that could really help the team out. DAV LW3 – DAV LW3 has the all-time highest game winning goals in a season for bots with 3. That level of clutch performance is enough to make the reserve list.
  18. More like everyone's too scared to fight me. I'm hoping for a brawl where they can't escape.
  19. 1. The Stars are rolling to start the season! Do you think we can keep up this momentum? Definitely! Everything is clicking with the team and there’s no reason to think it will change. 2. Dan Dan is having himself quite the season so far, what do you think attributes to him finding success at the back end of his career? So many things come down to right place, right time and I think that’s a factor here. But Dan Dan has shown shown that he’s a dedicated, hard working player for their entire career. That put him in a place to capitalize on the right place, right time situation happening in LA. 3. Florida Man is currently tied for 4th in the Rookie scoring race. Do you think he's still in ROTY contention? It’s tough because the 3 London players ahead of him all will have more points., I Hope the voters take into account that Florida Man is providing meaningful contributions to a top-tier team as a rookie. That’s a big deal and hopefully will be recognized by the voters. 4. Did you watch the Super Bowl? Thoughts on the halftime show this year? I did. Thought it was a pretty good/standard halftime show. Fun bopping your head along to classics. 5. Did you watch any of the NHL's All Star Weekend in Vegas? I did not. I always try to catch some of the skills competition, but missed it this year. Ah well. 6. The VHL is having an All Star Game this season + a Top Prospects game. Do you think this is good mid-season content for the league? Any content is good content. Alex/VSN did a fantastic job with everything and I think it was amazing. I hope all of the mid-season content continues.
