  1. Great question and thanks for reaching out. Lots of great suggestions in here so far. A 3D printer is a good mix of tech and crafting. Might be worth exploring. I have a love/hate relationship with mine. Seeing as it’s currently unplugged, it might not get the highest rating from me at the moment. Can be really frustrating and annoying when it doesn’t work, but amazing when it works. We have really enjoyed getting into woodworking and/or DIY projects. Like many hobbies, cost can get as high as you want, but you really only need some simple tools to start wood projects. Make a toy box for your kid. Well maybe that’s not for yourself, but the joy and satisfaction of creation is. Or the toy box could be for you. Super high rating from me because the possibilities are endless. I know this isn’t really the time for it, but gardening might be the most rewarding and delicious thing to take up. There is no scale for the joy of eating a fresh tomato you just picked from your own garden. Come to think of it, we’re not too far from starting from seed indoors. And building a raised garden bed is a great first woodworking project.
  2. The US is a warmongering state. We love war so much we don't even follow our own constitution to formally declare war anymore. Just write blank checks to the president to let them kill whomever, wherever. I doubt we'll turn down this golden opportunity to aggressively stoke the flames of war again. Will it be some catastrophic world war? Probably not. But that fear will be echoed by many to scare people into supporting military engagement. Will it cost trillions of dollars, most of which go to people who are funding government officials who make those decisions and aren't personally risking anything, while the vulnerable and poor are taken advantage of yet again? Yes.
  3. 1. Season 82 has begun! Any thoughts on our start so far? Well we had some easy games so far, so it’s tough to come to any actual conclusions. But we’re crushing the bad teams we play, so that’s a good sign. 2. Which team(s) do you think could surprise this season? I hope Vancouver surprises us with how terrible they are this season. 3. Did your player record a goal yet? Feels like this question is targeted at me. I did finally get my first goal of the season. I’m not sure what was going on, but it feels good to finally put one in the net. 4. Do you prefer to play home games, or games on the road in other cities? I’m a creature of comfort and my home is comfortable. It might be different if we were travelling to new places, but I’ve already been to all these places. Plus, it’s not like we have a lot of time to explore. We arrive, play a game, and leave almost immediately. 5. Tom Brady, an all time GOAT in sports has announced his retirement. Do you think he will ever return for one more year? I don’t think it’s likely, but who knows. I hope he doesn’t. Sick of him beating my Bills. 6. Any interest in the Olympics this year? I love the Olympics, so I will definitely be watching. It stinks the NHL players won’t be playing in the hockey event, but ah well there’s still a ton of excitement for all the events.
  4. Quick and obvious counter is that you're not being the best GM to your team possible if you're not thinking about your player and how they effect your team. The fact your forcing GMs to separate themselves from their player is what creates the conflict of interest.
  5. If you're able to time the success of your team to the exact year your GM player is draft eligible, props to you and you should receive the benefit of being able to take your player 16th OA. I don't have a problem with rewarding success. Or, just not make it cost a draft pick, to eliminate that concern. But I don't know how to placate both sides of the argument here, if it feels unfair to have it not cost a draft pick, but it also feels unfair to make it cost a draft pick, there's not a lot of room to work with there. I guess that's what leads to the existing scenario where possible tampering, threatening, and just not even playing are actually happening. To other point about TPE earning. If a GM determines that the best use of their GM player is to be a non-max earner, that's up for them to decide. I'll accept that. Ultimately that decision doesn't really effect the GM locking conversation, except obviously how TPE earning (or lack thereof) can be used as a tool to sabotage a GM player on an opposing team.
  6. Always thought the no-brainer solution to that was to make the pick be the team's pick or better. Not just any first round pick, like the rule was, because naturally what happened would happen. Easily preventable with a minor rule change. But really the rule should be that GM Players just automatically go to their team, no draft pick needed. I don't think it's wise to cater GM player rules to less active GMs. If a GM is not earning full TPE and that harms their team, that's on them. Maybe they should reevaluate how much they actually care about their team and their position if they can't be bothered to earn TPE for their player and team.
  7. I don't know why the rule was ever changed from just locking the GM player to their team. There will always be a conflict of interest when a GM player is on an opposing team. Why allow it? The conflict of interest is so strong that some come to the conclusion that they shouldn't even create a player. A completely rational decision, why would a GM want to help another team? How is having a rule that creates a conflict of interest good for this league and the spirit of the game? The current GM player rules are harming the league. For what benefit?

  18. 1. The S82 VHL Draft has come and gone. What surprised you in this draft? Probably the biggest surprise was how far Tavish DeGroot dropped. I know there was a lot of things said and done behind the scenes that may have influenced GMs, but if I were a GM I would have drafted them first overall. 2. Free agency opens this week! Anyone you'd like to see the Stars target? One of my complaints about the VHL is how difficult it is for the layperson to track Free Agents. I wish there were a page that listed who the free agents are and what offers were made and all that. It could add some fun to the free agency period for everyone outside the management sphere. With all that being said. I don’t know who’s available, but we probably could use a little bit of help bolstering the team. 3. What is your favourite point task to do? Press Conference, of course. I really mean that though. It’s fun to field questions and provide answers. 4. How many points to you expect to score this upcoming season? I hope for a personal high 115 points this season. 50 goals too! 5. What is your favourite jersey in the NHL? Since they went back to their original design and colors, I have to answer the Buffalo Sabres. Not a homer choice at all. 6. Do you invest in the stock market or crypto? I’ve dabbled in the stock market in the past. But I don’t actively invest in the moment. I guess technically I’m still invested through various retirement accounts. But all of that is via passive index funds. It’s best to use index funds in long term accounts because of the low cost and the fact higher cost actively managed funds have no guarantee to outperform the index, so you’re paying money for nothing over the long term.
