FrostBeard reacted to DMaximus in PBR: Reapers eyeing 1st matchup against Houston
While conducting post-game interviews after a recent win over Saskatoon, the Philadelphia Beat Report noticed a VHLM schedule hanging in the Reaper locker room. This scheduled has Game 39 circled. A home game at The Burns Crematorium Centre and their first game against their co-expansion team, the Houston Bulls.

The Bulls and Reapers became immediate rivals after a heated exchange of words between the team’s GMs during the offseason. The language used during that exchange is not fit to be reprinted in this space. Lingering animosity from that day has driven anticipation of this game to a fever pitch.

The PBR asked some Reapers about the upcoming game. GM Kathryn Blade said, "It is no secret that me and my boys want to make Houston feel the pain of being beaten by the Reapers. In true Reaper fashion we are going to use our blades to cut down the competition…our goal is total Reaper domination"

Reaper LW, Hans Gruber shared his thoughts, “Nothing better than a good old fashioned rivalry, especially when it’s two expansion teams. We don’t like them and they don’t like us. We’ll leave it all on the ice, prove that we’re the better team and get the two points, that’s the Gruber Guarantee”

“You know, I don’t really pay attention to the things management says to each other. I don’t really know what was said. All I know is that Blade has been there for us, took a chance on some of us, and showed that she really cares about us. It’s that respect for our GM that is going to motivate us against Houston. If it just so happens we record our first fatality at the Crematorium, so be it,” said defenseman Charlie Paddywagon.

Reaper RW John Frostbeard put it simplest of all, “I don’t have much to say other than they [Houston] suck.”

We expect an exciting, hard-fought game and will be watching along with all the fans of the VHL and VHLM.

    1st Week VHLM Recap

“Future of VHL is right here and now – Playing in VHLM!”

After 1st week of 65th season of VHLM we already can see greatness in quite a few players. First off, we should point out that with each week we can find another hidden gem that could rise to the top of VHLM leaderboard.

We can not look at greatness in VHLM without looking at the skill and strengths of Yukon’s Hunter Hearst Helmsley. He is leading VHLM with 13 points in 5 games played and is not slowing down. He is showing that his strengths lie in being that Hybrid scorer who is not only having a scoring upside but is able to show off his skills at teammate utilization as well. Only problem right now is – can he lead Yukon Rush to playoffs and show everyone that his team is not only first line show?

Amazing Duo from Saskatoon Wild is showing great promise in their scoring potential as Saskatoon is the only team with 2 players having over 2 points per game in VHLM right now – Shawnomir Jagr and Nethila Dissanayake respectively. Two amazing players with similar play styles. Both can put up goals and be playmakers at the same time and added to that they both are heavy hitters as they are having over 2 hits per game. This combo is going to be fierce and deadly when players will be worn out at the end of the season. Will Saskatoon Wild have a chance to compete for the top price, goal of any VHLM player – to win playoffs and take the trophy home with them?

There are not many goal scorers in VHLM this season that are at least goal-a-game, but there surely are two who both bare the same fearful name of being Philadelphia Reapers. Both Brian Strong and Mikko Aaltonen are showing that they not only are here to stay and wreak havoc on to others, but that they both are making a mark and showing that even though Philadelphia was not a frontrunner in anyone’s prediction to be dominant in VHLM S65, they will pack a huge punch and show doubters what they are made off.

VHLM standings after 1st week shows quite an interesting situation where both expansion teams – Philadelphia Reapers and Houston Bulls right now are in a playoff spot. Even though that is quite impressive, we must take in to account that season started just a week ago and everything is subject to change.

We cannot really talk about standing of VHLM right now without mentioning the league leading Las Vegas Aces that has started the season being completely on fire! After 5 games played, they have won all 5 and are dominating everyone that get’s in their way. Who knows – maybe they just haven’t met their match yet...?

*my face when I was making this article*

I'm not in a great mood to write anything. So just take this as an extended random quote. Graders can skip this thing cause there's nothing interesting to see.

This media are my first thoughts after first 9-10 games.

    Vancouver wagon strikes early.

I thought this team is going to struggle at offense once again. Looks like they are sick of being a consistent contender that always are coming up short. They're still not the greatest team at the offense because Seattle does exist. But Louth and Davis managed to take the Wolves into a solid lead. They both had a nice chemistry last season after that three way trade and now they took this into another level. I guess with these two Beav won't have to worry about the offense anymore.

    Parity.

Are we witnessing parity at an all-time high? I'm not sure. But seems like there is no sucker team anymore. Even Moscow that is projected to claim the last place is biting some more skilled teams. I assume it's happening because this is the beginning of the season. And the rebuilding teams will be put in their place as the season progresses. Until then, we will have some more weird games, cause that's STHS.

    Kallis is still trash.

    /thread.

    Poor start by Helsinki.

To be fair, they had a backup in first 8 games and Quik never made lines prior to the most recent trade. I assume they will be a lot better with new lines + Canmore in their lineup. I legitimately thought this is going to be their year since I predicted Thompson (+Ironside since they wanted to play together) to join them. But then Seattle happened. So, perhaps they're still have a chance with Jasper?

    Is it Dragomir's year?

FINALLY? He was always a player with a lots of potential. But he never managed to jump into the next level since he was stuck in a struggling Quebec team. And now he's in Seattle, the team that loves to score a lot and looks like we may have an early front runner for the most points award (I don't even remember what it's called lmao). If he keeps the pace, it will be the time Velevra and some other wondering members will be telling: FINALLY.

    The best two way player?

Too early to tell, of course. But...did Thompson only amassed 14 hits so far? That's so low, but I guess that happens when he's being paired with another two way man. So the two early front runners are...Dahlberg and Odinsson. I guess @BOOM™ could stop talking bad things about his player? Again, too early to tell, but it's interesting to see unexpected faces in a race for a certain award.

So yeah, this is was a quik article about some VHL stuff. The simmer Devise likes this season so far due to it's parity and I'm being mad at my creation named Kallis Kriketers. 0.899 with 2 SO in 10 games. What an inconsistent piece of garbage.

    That's it and I'm out.

6 TPE goes to this so called goalie.

Those who are actively following team developments of VHLM should clearly seen that growth that is happening in VHLM’s expansion franchise Philadelphia Reapers is quite amazing, lots of young guys like Hans Gruber, Mikko Aaltonen, Charlie Paddywagon, Wendy Kandee Cain will be showing off their strengths here in Minors and hopefully they will be able to succeed.
Philadelphia Reapers Management has done an amazing job to keep the team growing and not slow down, providing anything from necessary counseling to extra training sessions under experienced and league wide recognized coaching staff.
At the start of the season they will probably need some time to adjust their play and get to know everyone on the ice, but it should take almost no time for everyone to become a true household name in VHLM and VHL in the future. Asking what does John Frostbeard (RW, age 19, Latvia) think of their chances, he responded :”I truly believe we have a chance to do an impact and show others that we are not only a squad of great potential, but we are true competitors too that will not give up and will show out best on and off the ice!”
