  3. The Seattle Bears are in the playoffs that is right folks the Bears have a chance at a cup. Now in my short few years here I have won 5 cups 4 as a player with Berocka Sundqvist and one as a GM. The 4 I have won as a player were all with the Seattle Bears so it is safe to say that Berocka and the Bears have a pretty good relationship. The VSN ranked the bears as 7th in the NA conference at the start of the season and the Bears have surprised all by making the playoffs and now as of writing this having a 2-0 lead into the first round. Sure they might not win the cup but no one expected them to get this far in the first place, so how do the Bears do it. It is none other than the secret magic of the big bear himself Bana. You will find an old article of mine way back when where I talk about how he does it year in and year out. If you do some snooping you might be able to find it but as I am under a NDA with Bana I am unable to tell tales.
  4. Hello Everyone I hinted on a future media spot I would do where I would take a look at the Job pays and how I would change/alter them if I was in charge so here is this article. So first of all I am a believer that if you do a job and it takes time to do and it makes the league a better place then you need to be fairly compensated. Making people who have high intensive jobs that are vital to the league get burnt out with completing weekly tasks is a sure fire way to get the league folded. However giving everyone more TPE than they deserve will make the league interactions and forum content go down significantly. So for that we need to find a nice median ground between a lot of TPE and a lot of work. We all know that the capped TPE maxes out at 12 per week, with 6 coming from your major point tasks and 6 from your minor point tasks, I personally believe that job pay should start covering minor point tasks first that way it keeps more people completing the major point tasks which I believe has more value for the forum content side of things. This is because there are multiple minor point tasks like press conference and trivia which has no real benefit to the community. Lets assume as a total it takes you an hour to complete your full 12 capped with 30 mins for major point and 30 mins for your minor point tasks we will take this into the job evaluation. I want to look at the list of jobs and evaluate how and look at them with some rankings. How important the job is and how time consuming the job is. Job List VHL: · Commissioners – 6TPE · Moderators – 6TPE · VHLM GMs – 4TPE · Other GMs – 2TPE · Simmers – 8TPE · Recruitment – 6TPE · Head of PT – 2TPE · Updaters – 4TPE · Player Store Updaters – 2TPE · Fantasy Zone/Trivia – 2TPE · VSN Editor – 10TPE · VSN Contributors – 8TPE So above you can see the job list, to me the only non-important jobs on this list are the VSN jobs. You could also make an argument for the Head of PT job and the Fantasy Zone/Trivia jobs. My reasoning behind this is that without the VSN nothing really in the league changes, and I personally believe that similar articles will still be written just by a random person instead of someone assigned that task. Also if someone likes the league enough to write these articles for the VSN I am sure they would probably write them themselves anyway. With regards to the Head of PT, this could probably be delegated and allow the Updaters to make the final say or to get commissioner approval for the real edge cases. The Fantasy Zone and Trivia jobs are only important if you believe that the underlying point task is important for the league. I don’t believe that either are really that important and I am sure you could almost make Fantasy Zone automated it picks 3 random games and you bet on them. The time-consuming jobs are harder to really put a finger on without having done the job myself in the past. I will say that I believe that the simmers and moderators are really the ones that are under the pump they need to be available every day. I am unsure about the mods to be honest but if the team is small enough I am sure they pretty much all need to do a “shift” every day to keep things up and running. So without a lot of further research it is really hard to tell on who is actually pulling their weight and which jobs are essentially getting a free ride. There are also the job share jobs as well, you can look at examples like the updaters and the moderators, where you can have someone on the payroll doing 95% of the work and 5 people all doing not much however they all get equal pay. So even if a job is worth the TPE for one person it might not be worth the pay for all. One idea I had for the updaters is that each week you take the average number of updates approved if within a 3 week period you didn’t once hit the average you should not be allowed to claim the TPE until you then get back over the average. So if there are 1000 updates and 10 updaters everyone should be hitting over 100 every 3 weeks. Next I want to look at the TPE earned by members currently with jobs per week, we can see that this ranges from 20 TPE down to 2 TPE every week. Please note that I have not done any in depth research into what people are claiming just what they are entitled to as per the staff page on the forum. We can see there are 8 members who are above the cap and an extra 3 members who hit the cap just with their jobs. Now ideally this means that they are not made to do any point tasks every week as their jobs should cover their total contribution to the league. Providing the member does not earn their TPE through VSN which is sort of a special category. Members and the amount of TPE they get per week from Jobs and number of jobs worked: User TPE # Jobs N0HBDY 20 4 Moon 16 3 leandrofg 16 4 Beketov 14 2 Josh 14 2 samx 14 3 Tetricide 14 3 v.2 14 3 Ricer13 12 3 Alex 12 2 AJW 12 2 Acydburn 10 2 Enorama 10 2 Spartan 10 3 MubbleFubbles 10 2 badcolethetitan 10 2 Mysterious_Fish 10 2 Nathan_8 10 2 Frank 8 2 Banackock 8 2 InstantRockstar 8 2 Devise 8 1 MexicanCow123 8 1 animal74 8 1 DarkSpyro 8 1 ROOKIE745 8 1 fromtheinside 8 1 nurx 8 1 Gustav 6 1 Baozi 6 1 frescoelmo 6 1 jacobcarson877 4 2 Grape 4 1 McLovin 4 1 Lemorse7 4 1 JCarson 4 1 Dadam30 4 1 LucyXpher 4 1 DMaximus 4 1 hylands 4 1 OrbitingDeath 4 1 STZ 2 1 hedgehog337 2 1 FrostBeard 2 1 KaleebtheMighty 2 1 Doomsday 2 1 Zetterberg 2 1 rory 2 1 dlamb 2 1 Baby Boomer 2 1 Sjin 2 1 UnknownMinion 2 1 Jason kranz 2 1 There are currently on the staff page 53 members that hold a current job who would be able to claim TPE for this and the TPE totals 390 which is on average 7.36 TPE per member. This means that the average member with a job does not need to complete a point tasks every week. To me this is staggering and I know that the VSN once again skews these results but to me it is really crazy. Above I have summarised a few facts I found whilst really looking into the jobs and what I think about it but what do I honestly think we should do about this to improve the jobs and make it better/fairer for all. SUGGESTIONS Remove the VSN. I have said it in the article above that the VSN articles of that style would probably still be made just not under a league banner. I don’t think the quality of the articles are that high that each article deserves an extra 2 TPE. I understand that it is cool to have a place for league news that is made at regular intervals but I think it needs to be shown more prominently if it is actually meant to be better quality than the average media spot. To the untrained eye it almost seems like the more views the article gets is really just indicative on the number of members tagged in the article. Cap Job pay at 6. I think that most jobs should fall in line roughly with completing a major point task and I would like to see the compensation matched. The only job that I truly think should be more than 6 per week is the simmers and that is because they need to work a 7 day week essentially and they should be fairly compensated for that. Every other job I believe should just be a 6 TPE per week max. Cap number of jobs at 2. I would like to see the number of jobs a member can hold capped at 2. I think that if the jobs are meant to be intensive and are rewarded with such high TPE than you shouldn’t be able to take on too much responsibility, I would love to see the cap at 1 job but I think we have too many roles with not enough members to see that happen. Plus there are some roles which I think go hand in hand like simmer and commissioner for example. 50% pay for your 2nd job. I think that if you want to take on the second job you need to make sure you have enough time to cover all the work. I don’t want to incentivise people to work more than one job so now they don’t need to do point tasks. I think if you make the second job a member receives pay less then it makes sure that people really on pick up the work they can do. As you still need to be able to complete some minor point tasks here and their to hit your 12 capped TPE. Job pay only covers major point tasks if you work more than one role. If you only have the one role that pays 6 TPE per week then you need to still complete your major point tasks. The 6 TPE only covers the TPE that you would earn with the minor point tasks. This means that you are still seeing the members who have a job writing media spots, recording podcasts or making graphics. Well that about sums up my thoughts and feelings on job pay as it is in the VHL at the moment. Please let me know what you think about how we could improve jobs and job pay and if you were in charge of the decisions what you would do. Thank you all for reading. 1500+ words claiming for 3 weeks
  5. Yeah it would be cool but it's also hard to manage as you can't see in-between Sims you don't know how many games your goalie will play that day
  6. 1. I think you would probably have to go Seattle or Coyotes, new team and new fan base you can have an identity with the team and be apart of the teams history 2. I would have to say I have a top three and they are @Banackock & @Gustav & @dasboot. Bana as I have spent some time with him IRL and had some good chats since he drafted me in S67, Boot for similar reasons as well as our hour long podcasts we would do almost every week. Gustav as have always had some contact with him since joining his team in S66 as well as trying to create a sim league together 3. Two point goal if you score from behind the blue line Q1. Which VHL member would you like to see come back Q2. What is your least favourite point task that you do each week Q3. If all the blues were to step down at once who should replace them to keep the sim league running
  7. REVIEW: Firstly I would like to say this is a good article that looks at the snapshot in time for all three leagues. I do have a couple of ideas to make it easier for the reader to follow along. Firstly, I would include a screenshot of the ladder for each of the leagues so that way a person has not only your words as a reference point but also a visual representation as well. This way they can quickly line up what you are saying to the graphic. Also I would probably include Headings between each paragraph so it is easier to see which paragraph belongs to which league and you can also reference each of the ladders that way as well. Good article and would like to see more analysis stuff in the future
  8. REVIEW: This was such a great and interesting read, this is such a great premise to bring in history and the sim league together. Not only did you tell a story about your character but you touched on an important real life story with enough facts and information that I felt like I learnt something whilst reading this. I honestly wouldn't change much at all about this media spot I think it is quite well written and hits on the emotial notes of that day in history. I might have to go back and read any of your previous media spots if they meet this quality. Very well done
  9. 1. Removing the Louth rule and the other side of the Louth rule. This would allow GMs to play whichever keeper they wanted as many times as they wanted. Now on this first observation of the rule, you think oh why not let everyone do what they want surely that would make the league a better place right? Well there are some scenarios where this would really hurt the players. First of all, you are a backup goalie who has just walked into the VHL, you know you will probably only play 8 games as you are one of the top teams who needs as many wins as possible. Well if there is no Louth rule, you probably don’t even get one start and if you need to play the back up role for 2-3 seasons there is almost 6 months of you not seeing your player do anything. Why would you keep updating and trying to improve if you aren’t even going to start. Also the same thing applies if you are a seasoned vet who has built up your player but your GM decides that they want to tank this season well that Bot goalie is going to see a whole lot more starts than you will that is for sure. There is another reason why this rule is beneficial to the players imagine you are a new goalie in the draft but all teams already have a star goalie no one is going to want to pick you because they don’t need a goalie at the moment and they can use the picks to get better players instead of a bench warmer. 2. Promotion/Relegation between the leagues This seems like a cool concept in theory where players can help get their teams up from the VHLM into the VHLE and then win the VHL one day, you can see how this works in the English soccer system where you climb the ranks and your little local team could one day play Manchester United to win the Premier League. However this doesn’t really work without a full overhaul of the league rules including the draft and the waiver system. What it will lead to is three pretty set leagues where the same teams play in the same leagues every season and some yo-yo teams that are two good for one division but not good for the one above so they win the lower division, move up then get demolished in the higher divisions so they bounce back down again. 3. GM Maximum Terms This sounds like another good idea in theory where your GMs can only be a GM for a maximum of 4 seasons then they need to reapply or get hired again. This however fails when you look at team identity when a GM knows that they can only be a GM for four seasons they need to make sure they go and win in those four seasons so by their last season they will make sure they are stocked up on players and they won’t care what the future looks like. This means when the next GM takes over they will have nothing to work with and we will see the old boom bust style system that the VHLM had for years.
  10. Where are the links to the other 5
  11. 55. I think that we have made some great strides forward, excited for all three to hit the ice with us 56. A+ well and truly but we truly won't know until we see some results 58. All the players dress up as zombies and Dixon fires his crossbow at us 60. I hope I score 5 more goals 61. The bear mobile would be a passenger van that is covered in fur 63. Plan my recreate obviously
  12. @Banackock is there any chance of making the point task affiliation two ways?
  13. Probably would've gone with a redback spider if there was a spider as they are much cooler looking
  14. Canberra is in the Australian capital territory and not technically a state. The same as Darwin is the capital of the Northern territory but it isn't a state either
  15. I just print off everything I write and she replies with a red marker and gives me a grade. Not really she would just call me a nerd
  16. A teaser for my upcoming media spot So there has always been discussion over the VHL and job pay, I remember way back when there was a job pay audit done by member Proto or who is more commonly known as (one of those other AGMs Gustav had). This I believe didn’t change to much but I think that it is time again that one of the people that worked under Gustav delved deep into the VHL underworld to see who is being paid what and where we can reclaim some TPE back from the members, leading to more forum content when the ones with jobs have to go back to doing tasks. No one is safe from my reaches and I will make sure that everyone is doing the amount of work needed to receive their TPE. Could we see massive changes in how things are done, almost definitely not. Could we see major shake ups of weekly TPE brought in by those with jobs, again it is really not likely. Will I still do this task I have assigned myself. Well if we look at my previous history there is like a 5% chance. Will anyone care about what I write, maybe just my Mum. Anyway enough rambling see you when I finish my task or need more TPE.
  17. So we all know that the VHLE is the leagues most hated league and we also know that the leagues two most beloved members are @BOOM and myself the two Australians this makes total sense then to move the VHLE to become the VHL Australia and rebrand all 6 teams. Well luckily enough for me there are 6 states in Australia and each state has a capital city so I have already selected my 6 cities and they will be in alphabetical order Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. So now we just need to come up with some names and identities for each of the cities. When deciding on the towns below I tried to pick things that were innately Australian, aren’t currently used by other teams in Australia so there are no stolen logos like there were with the Helsinki Titans and the Oslo Storm. Adelaide Kookaburras This is one of Australia’s native birds and it is known for it’s call that sounds like a laugh, most people of Australia will have seen and definitely heard the famous Kookaburra. The colours of the team would be a Brown and White to go along with the identity of the Kookaburra, the Burras as they would be known for short would suit Adelaide which is the 5th biggest city in Australia and is the capital of South Australia. Adelaide is also known as the City of Churches due to its wide variety of faiths and cultures in the area. This would surely be a great hub for some VHLA action. Brisbane Bushrangers My Home town of Brisbane, there were a few ideas I could have gone with here but I love the idea of Bushrangers. Bushrangers are an interesting subject when you are learning about Australian history, they were originally just escaped convicts but the whole idea changed around the gold rush and they became people who robbed under arms. Though throughout the years bushrangers have become symbolic as those who were rebels to the authorities. The most famous Bushranger is the of Ned Kelly who has had countless movies and TV shows made about him. The colours for the team would be Gold and Purple. Hobart Devils The Tasmanian Devil is an extremely popular animal and is even featured alongside Bugs Bunny in Looney Tunes, The Tasmanian Devil is a small marsupial that is pretty much only found on the island of Tasmania which is the smallest state in Australia and Hobart is the capital of that. The colours of this team would be Black and White in line with the animals colours Melbourne Crocodiles One of the most scariest animals in all of Australia in my opinion is the salt water crocodile, not only can they demolish you in the water they can run faster than you on land as well, plus they are angry beasts who are very territorial. Now Melbourne doesn’t have any crocodiles apart from those in the aquarium/zoo but it is a scary animal and its cool. The colours of course for this one would be Green and Blue for the crocodile and the water it swims in. Perth Quokkas The Quokkas are definitely Australia’s cutest mammal apart from our very own Boom. They live on a small island just of the shore of Western Australia where Perth is the capital. I am sure that the mascot would have gritty level of popularity due to how cute the animals are. The colour for this team would be an outrageous blue and pink because why not. Sydney Platypus Last and last for a reason Australia’s worst capital. But I have given them probably my favourite Australian animal the Platypus the animal that all around the world thought was a hoax, there is endless crazy facts about this mammal. But the Sydney team would feature a colour way of Red and Orange because we need some contrasting colours in this league. Well that is all for today let me know which team you would love to play for and who would be your rival team. Thanks

  19. 41. It is a little known fact that Zeph is trying to get out of the way of the pucks but because his ankles are so sore he can never get out of the way in time 42. They bring a mini net and just snipe goals in the locker room as everyone else is getting dressed 43. I really hate if I have to sit next to them in warm ups they like to juggle throwing knifes to boost adrenaline and get their hand eye going 44. Someone wanted me to autograph a kangaroo which is weird as I am from the USA and not Australian at all 45. They always eat a donut as that is how many goals they want to allow every game 46. I just skate really fast and aim for the knees
