0 games played, 0 points scored, Maxime Perron is moving across Europe to his new home in Davos.

After being considered "no longer a youth player" and not being eligible for the VHLM, Perron quickly found himself with an issue. There was no room for him on Helsinki. The team was going through widespread changes, and the roster looked jam packed with players that were going to make the team deadly going into the season. And while he would have enjoyed being a part of that, he knows this is better for him. He was traded to HC Davos.

After his first practice back with his team in Helsinki, he was notified by his General Manager that he had been moved and to pack up his stuff. Now he moves to a new city, with new players, but it isn't all bad. He never had a huge chance to rub elbows with teammates in Helsinki, and his career starts off simply in a different city.

This season will be key to see if the pickup was a good one for Davos, and Perron hopes to impress the brass in his first season on the team.

    The (Minor) League Leaders

The VHLM has been an extremely interesting race this season, both for #1 in the standings around the league, which has 5 teams battling for that position all fairly close together in terms of points, and for the fight for the top spot in league scoring among players. Currently dominating the top 3 are players most recently drafted in the Season 44 VHL Entry Draft. And it's time to look at who they are, and what they could mean to their VHL teams down the road

    C, Maxime Perron (Brampton Blades)

Currently the leading scorer of the VHLM, Perron has lead his Brampton blades to a 14-4 record, good for a spot just outside of #1 in the VHLM standings. The most notable asset on this young prospect is his shot. One of the quickest releases the VHLM has ever seen he has contributed to 23 goals in 18 games this season, which places him atop the VHLM. His release is so quick many goaltenders have noted that they do not even have time to set up before he releases, and quite often it is so deceptive they realize he is shooting as the puck is going past. He scored 74 points in 72 games last season for a stacked Brampton squad, and was named captain of the team this season and has taken on the leadership role in full force. Perron was selected 7th overall by Helsinki, and since has shown a serious dedication to his game. The Titans are hoping for another Brody Hodgson in the young player, and he is only impressing more and more every night. He is currently on an 8 game scoring streak as of today.

    RW, Simon Valmount (Bratislava Watchmen)

Valmount was one of last season's most exciting prospects, and for good reason. Rave reviews for the young winger started as soon as he stepped foot in the VHLM. He was the talk of every scout, every GM, and every player, as the dark horse of the draft. Someone who might fall to around pick #5, but end up being one of the best players from the draft. And that's almost exactly what happened. Valmount wound up getting selected by Riga at pick #4 in the VHL draft, to absolute insanity from the fans back in Latvia. Now in the VHLM, Valmount on the wing of Davidson has put up an exceptional 38 points in 19 games. An extremely well rounded player, he has put up 19 goals and 19 assists this season, while contributing at both ends of the ice. And that is the thing that separates him from Perron. He has 71 hits, 11 shots blocked, and is a very pesky player with 44 penalty minutes, with 4 of them being fights. While his plus minus is substantially smaller than Perron's (who has +30 to Valmount's +18), he is put on the ice a lot of the time that Bratislava starts in the defensive zone. That is serious value that is very underrated. Valmount is currently the best player who is still in the VHLM. Riga is going to be very excited for this kid's future.

    C, Alexander Davidson (Bratislava Watchmen)

Davidson and Perron will probably be compared together for the rest of their careers. Perron was selected one spot before Davidson, who ended up going to the New York Americans at pick #8. Davidson has shown a lot of skill this season alongside Valmount, noticed for being able to move the puck up the ice well with an absolutely incredible first pass. His playmaking ability is bar none what sets him apart from anyone else currently in the VHLM. And this season, to back that up, he has posted a respectable 14 goals to his 23 assists. Very close in points to his teammate, they are both working extremely hard to catch Perron at the top of that leaderboard.

The S44 Draft was seen as a weaker draft for top end talent in recent memory, however one cannot scoff at the fact that there are going to be some excellent prospects coming out of there. Guys who are criminally underrated that will make the VHL interested when they make it to the show.

*I would have done 4 including Jefferson Jackson, however he was just called up to the VHL with his team in Quebec.

"Retool" is a word that General Manager tfong used before the season had begun to describe the Brampton Blades upcoming season. The team lost very important players after it's finals appearance the season before and looked to be a team that needed some time to get it together before another run. Veteran Maxime Perron was one of the only players still remaining on the team as tfong moved out players for draft picks, hoping his team would still be able to fight in to be in the playoffs, but would have a great standing in the next season.

However, what happened next was unimaginable. Brampton sits at 14-4, a mere 3 points from 1st in the league with a game in hand, all lead by captain Maxime Perron and rookie Jefferson Jackson. Together they have scored 79 points for the team, Perron being the league leader in scoring with 42 points in 18 games. No on expected this level of production out of the team being carried by two stars. Time will tell if they can compete in the playoffs, but it is an exciting team to watch as of this moment

With Bronson Faux tearing up the Victory Hockey League after an excellent VHLM season winning the cup with the Brampton Blades, very few fans are paying attention to another prospect they should be excited about. Bronson's baby brother, Marcel.

After getting picked 11th overall in the VHLM Entry Draft, Marcel Faux join the Saskatoon Wild. His older brother, Bronson, had gone the year before in the VHLM draft to the Brampton Blades. That season Bronson had posted great numbers, getting a really solid 84 points in 72 games, prompting VHL General Managers to take note and play him in the Victory Hockey League only one season after he tore up the VHLM. Now Marcel is looking to do the same thing and follow in his brothers footsteps. With 87 points so far in 64 games, he has actually already surpassed his brothers totals from last season, and General Managers have started to notice that these two brothers are not joking around as VHL prospects. They look to both be the real deal, but the question everyone asks is: "Who will be better?"

Brampton Blades, the team that formerly housed Bronson, prospect Maxime Perron has nothing but shining things to say about Marcel, after knowing him for many years. Having played with him, Perron describes Marcel Faux as "determined, and so strong on the puck... I couldn't even get him off it". After playing both summer hockey, and participating in prospect camps with Faux, Perron and him developed a great friendship. They roomed together during the team combines for the VHLM, and often before games between Saskatoon and Brampton they would room with each other for the night. The rivalry was strong, but friendly between these two and the fire is just as strong when playing with each other.

"We always want to one-up each other," Perron said of Faux, "and we have this insane chemistry. Like I'm the long lost third brother of the Faux's"

And could that be a future that a Victory Hockey League General Manager tries to put together? It could be a deadly line, with the Faux's instant chemistry, and Perron's familiarity with the family, it could be deadly. Bronson is currently putting up very good numbers in the VHL, while Marcel is tearing up the VHLM even better than his brother ever did. Perron isn't exactly as sought after as these two very strong prospects, but he feels like he plays a very good game that should attract General Managers attention. With these three as a very possible deadly combo at such a young age, they could end up forming a great bond. That is, if a GM can even manage to get all three together. Going into the draft, Marcel looks to be a definite top 5 pick, while Maxime Perron is on the outside looking in, but could still possibly impress enough to work his way in there. Unless a GM has two picks in the top 5, we probably won't see these two wonderful prospects together until a few seasons into their career, if at all.

Bronson's success, and Marcel's future spells out good things for two brother powerhouses in the VHL, and they both look to have very good career ahead of them. No one is able to say anything but good things about the young Marcel Faux. Look out for more from him in the VHL very soon.

    Brampton Blades Team Profile

    GM: tfong
    Captain: Golden Jedtsson
    Assistant Captain: Maxime Perron
    Assistant Captain: Valentin Taneyev

The Brampton Blades -- a team competing in the VHLM -- are heavily considered the favourites to win it all this season. After their first 26 games they are 24-2, and look to be unstoppable. But the question it, despite losing two amazing players in Bronson Faux and E'Twaun Delicious, how are they still able to be the top team night after night, and be favourites yet again? Well we look deeper into what makes this team tick.

    Offense

Offense seems to be a dominant force for Brampton -- but the question really is, what isn't? -- as they are leading the league in Goals For with 133, up on Bern who have 117. The offense is driven by forward superstar Sam Teibert, who currently leads the league in points with 72 in 26 games. An incredible number by any standards, but keep in mind that this is a kid who is seemingly unnoticed and under the radar usually. Not this season, as he is decimating his teammates, as the next closest player has 58 points, and everyone else in the league. And a player on D that has brought some incredible offense to the Blades is captain Golden Jedtsson who currently sits 9th in points with 45 points thus far. He hasn't been killing the stat sheet in goals, however his 38 assists in 26 games is extremely impressive, and people have taken notice. He is considered a definite shoe-in to be playing VHL games next season, and he is going out in his last season in Brampton with a bang. And bringing up a great amount of points in highly touted rookie Maxime Perron. Currently with 20 goals and 20 assists, Perron has not been afraid of taking his place on the team by force. He is showing all other rookies how you work your way onto a team, and is currently second in rookie scoring. The GM has had nothing but high praises to say for the young Frenchman, and has named him assistant captain for the season.

    Defense

We mentioned defender and captain Golden Jedtsson earlier. Well that is because he has been absolutely incredible in the VHLM so far this season as he sits 3rd in defensemen in points. But his offense isn't only what is being marveled. He is currently a +37, one of the best in the league, and has the lead on the team in shots blocked with 29. He is leading the charge on a backend that is a little bare for the Blades. Their lackluster defense is carried by the acquisition of goalie Coca Cola from Oslo. When in Oslo to start the season, Cola recorded an 0-6 record with a 3.01 GAA. Everyone was aware he needed out of that situation, as he posted an impressive .927 SV% and was keeping games at least close for the terrible Oslo team (who are currently 3-21). Since coming to Brampton he has gone 19-1 with a 1.39 GAA, and a .925 SV%. This incredible turn around has people singing the goaltenders praises and he has kept Brampton to a league low 40 goals against on the season. Only 28 of those are Cola's in 20 games, while their backup goalie let in 12 of the 40 in his first 6 games. This just further proves Cola's dominance, and the team would be that much further ahead if they had acquired him before the season had started.

    Wrap-Up

Look out for a back-to-back championship by Brampton. They are dominating the league from both an offense and defense standpoint, and aren't going to ever go down in a game without a fight. With goalie Coca Cola in net, forwards Teibert, Taneyev, Wilcox, and Perron up front, and captain Jedtsson manning the point, this team is unstoppable. General Manager tfong has put together an incredible team again this season, and the fans can't get enough of it
