  2. More of the Armageddon feel I was going for. Sky was indeed trash on the top image.
  3. Looks like the cream is rising to the top. Of course Seattle was easy to pick as a strong contender but there are other teams that have shown some good pace in this early hybrid era. London United, Moscow, Riga and DC all have shown some really strong games and are in position to be at the top. My takeaway from all this so early into the season is that this new system has handcuffed teams that used the meta and gave several teams a chance to assemble a good roster that can compete. This is very good for the league and very exciting for players that are trying to come up with that golden build that works. I am not sure there is a golden build with this new system. Diversity seems to work. I look at certain trends that a lot of players have leaned towards but there are some other approaches that seem to work as well. I think a full season messing around with our builds should yield a better understanding about what works for a certain play style. Defense is a strange skill to get to a high level. Seems like it is tied to a skill or two that a player would not normally want, but it works. Fighting and checking should make games more interesting especially if you can build enough offense to my your player relevant. It's all part of the VHL experience and we are fortunate enough to be the first ones to play in this era. I hope by the end of the season, the men in blue have made all the adjustments to the sliders and we can re-roll with confidence in the system. Good time to be in the VHL. Good luck to all.
  4. Review: Very nice multi render graphic. Good detail in the background render. Your main render looks well placed and the text font looks good. I am a fan of signature fonts and this fits. I think your recolor looks over saturated or maybe you could have used a different blend mode. The main render also looks to be lower resolution compared to the one in the background. Still, I like the design. Good job. 8/10
  5. Review: A colorful sig to say the least. I like the posturized background render. Main render looks well placed and the text really fits. Color palette is all over the place but it seems to work well with this design. Would have been nice to get rid of the collar branding. Good job 8/10
  6. 30. What are your thoughts on the Bears hot start? Exactly what I expected. Even with the unknowns due to the new system, the Bears are a strong team. 31. What team has been the most surprising in the VHL so far? I don't really know yet. Too early to be surprised by any team. 32. What team has been the least surprising in the VHL so far? It's hard to tell this early in the season. We all know how horrible starts can end up with a cup. 33. Who has been the Bears MVP so far? It's a team sport and I would say that every player on the team is an MVP. 34. Who has been the VHL's MVP so far? Anyone on our team can be considered as the leagues best. 35. 5 players have a point per game or higher right now. How many finish above at the end of the season? Hard to say but I hope that number grows as the builds improve.
  7. Thank you for a rare review of what I post. This is what happens when I don't invest more than 20 minutes on these turn ins anymore. Great to get someone to write a review, you made my day.
  8. I am fine with it and understand this is a one time thing. I was just eating up my word count and trying to be funny with my dry humor. Thanks for the response though. Stay safe
  9. Nothing like an extended off-season. I hated how long they were normally but this is nearly as long as a regular season. I hope the extra wait is worth it. There must be a lot to be done and the extra time was needed. It must be hard for teams to stay hyped about the next season when the wait is a month. I know I forgot about the VHL for a few days. Maybe it's a good thing but I think I would rather have some locker room chatter about the games and players. I think if we have another extended off-season, the league should hire some clowns and maybe a donkey ride to keep our attention of the fact we aren't playing. There is nothing more inspiring than the smell of donkeys and hungover clowns. I think we will get through this and be a better league for it. Maybe it doesn't feel like it at the moment, but good things should be coming our way as a league.
  10. 9. Who is someone you look up to and why? My son. He is 6'6", I am 6'. 10. What were your thoughts on the VHL draft? It came, we saw, we did what we needed to do. 11. What were your thoughts on VHL Free Agency? I don't have much to say about what the leadership does. Everything looks like it helped the team. 12. Which teams will be the top of EU? Why? Moscow. They look solid and would be my early pick. 13. Which teams will be the top of NA? Why? Seattle because we are deep as hell and know how to bring home the hardware. 14. You have to implement something crazy into the VHL. Could be anything. What is it?? I think giving the fans of the losing team a refund would be kinda crazy.
  11. Review: Good basic sig. Good formatting with a neutral background that doesn't distract. Text is clever and works well with this design. I like that the branding has been removed. About the only thing I was thinking while looking at this sig was what it would look like if the BOND was centered. Good job 8/10
  12. Review: To be honest, this looks like a very lazy graphic. A stock background, a stock render with no attempt to remove the NHL branding, and text that was just placed in an open area with no design concept that I can see. If you are new to making graphics then this isn't that bad for a beginner. You have the elements but it takes less than a few minutes to get to this point. 5.5/10
  13. Now that was a very good no bullshit reply and I respect that. I understand there is a lot of other issues you guys were addressing. It's making more sense now. I thank you for the response and clarification. Let's make this league run like a fine Swiss watch.
  14. Here we are in the middle of the longest off-season I can remember. I am running out of bad habits to try and stop but there is always that one that sticks with you. With this extended break, I have been looking more closely at the “New” system. I think they did a great job fixing an issue that would, in my opinion, ruin the league for a long time. With that said, I hope there are some adjustments coming soon. I think tpe doesn't go very far when trying to raise a skill, like defense. It look like puck control with yield the most defense but when I stick my full wade, 13 tpe, into it, my defensive skill doesn't go up. It just seems like you have to spend a lot of points to get very little in return. I am sure the actual tiers have been adjusted but I haven't seen anything official about it yet. Is the 80s the new 90s? I have no idea. I am not unhappy with all the changes, something needed to be done and they did something. Kudos to all who were involved. With that said, I was wondering if just starting everyone out with 65 passing would have worked. Also, I don't see any power creep happening anytime soon, in fact, we need more tpe now. I think that side of the equation should be looked at. I really don't know how all this stuff works and the ratios they are using. Some clarity on how strong each tier is now would be helpful. I am sure it will take some games and data collection to make a smart adjustment. Good luck to all.
  15. Review: This is a pretty cool looking graphic. Nice cut boarder and I love the blue recolor of the city. You did one of the things I like to see on other graphics, you got rid of any NHL branding, good job. I have worked with this render before and I would say you did a good job with facial detail. Logo swap looks a bit flat but works just fine. Maybe warp it a bit and mess with the opacity. Overall, a really fun graphic to look at. Oh, I wish the text fit inside the background cut better. 8/10
  16. Review: Good basic sig with all the elements required. Is it amazing, not really. Is it bad? Not at all. I like the render placement and logo swap. Not sure about the NHL neck branding of the shoulder patches. The background seems too strong and not blended very well. Text is hard to read but it gets the job done. Good foundation, just needs to get that extra little bit to get the most out of it. 8/10
  17. 1. What aspect of Hockey (Defense, Stick Handling, etc.) do you think is the most underappreciated? "Missing the Net" is so underrated. I know it's not an actual skill, but a lot a players are really good at it. 2. The NHL has the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for the player who exhibited outstanding sportsmanship. What should the name of that trophy be in the VHL? I don't think the league really likes nice players. There isn't even a column in the stats for the most hugs. 3. Who do you think deserves to win the award this year? The player with the least penalties. 4. Who do you think is your team's MVP this season? Hard to say, we are all MVPs in one way or another. 5. What is your favorite holiday? Groundhog day. Nothing is more fun than to have some rat tell me winter is going to be longer. 6. If the VHL has an expansion, what city would you like to see get a team? Any city in the northern part of Italy.
  18. Review: Solid design concept. Top render looks clean and fits nicely. Text is a mixed bag but looks good. Not of fan of the white covering it. I think the bottom render needs some work. The stick looks choppy. The big downside to this is all the NHL branding. Great design, a few flaws. 8/10
  19. Well here we are. I the middle of a huge change to how our player skills are applied and converted to something Simon understands. I am happy for this change but at the same time, concerned when I look at my Simon numbers. They are very weak to say the least. I know the scaling has been altered but it still leaves me wondering what my player will actually do. I was told that the 80s are the new 90s. So what does that make the 90s? Too many questions to even ask. I am sure the first 20 games will reveal a trend that would point to a successful path. I can't imagine the work that was put into this system. A fancy convoluted input that has a bunch of stats we don't use and converts it to the old system. Clever really. I don't have any concerns if things will go any better. I just hope they adjusted the Simon sliders enough to make these new lower numbers work. It will be a wait and see kind of thing. One thing that stands out to me is that we can use more tpe during the season/offseason. I don't think tpe creep is going to be a thing anymore and there might even be a reason to increase earnings. I know it's all too soon, we haven't even played a game yet. Time will tell. Good luck to everyone.
