  5. 1) Where do you see the Rush ending up this year and why? First place obviously. Honestly I think we got a good squad going this year and we just have some good chemistry playing with one another. 2) What are your first impressions of Yukon? Well I knew Whitehorse wasn't very big, but I never thought the town was actually this small. 25000 people live here, that has to be some sort of VHL/VHLM record right there for smallest town to support a team. Other than that it's cold as f*ck but my teammates have been good to me. I like the lockeroom atmosphere and I think we can go far. 3) Which team do you see having the biggest rivalry with? And player in specific? Well everyone is always out for the top team and that's Minnesota right now, so if any storm players out there reading this, we're comming to get you. Personally though after last night the Houston Bulls and I want to deliver a few more big hits on Chase Kelley just cus *chuckles* 4) Is there a player you model your game after? I'd have to say I model my game more after Byfuglien where i plan to play a physical brand of hockey and use my size to clear bodies out of the crease. 5) If you have been drafted in the VHL, are you happy with how it went? If you haven't, where do you expect to go in next season's draft? Well I know I wont go in the first round but I dont think being a 3rd round selection is out of reach. 6) What has to happen for you to consider this season a success? As a team or personally. As a team it's winning the title of champions at the end of the season, as should be the goal for any other team out there. Personally though for this season to be a success for me I'll have to end the season not in the negatives when it comes to +/- which I currently am.

  8. Perrin dissapoints coach with play. Seabass Perrin has dissapointed his coach with his defensive play in the first 5 games of the season. He may have scored his first ever point of his VHLM career in his first game but other than that he's gone -5 in his first 5 games played. It's almost like I had predicted it, after I said Perrin was "shit" in my last media spot article. The Rush's coach seems to agree with my previous analysis of the player after a meeting I had with him at a local Tim Horton's. After asking the coach to give me his thoughts on Perrin he told me on record: "Perrin has shown in his first few games that he's a very raw talent. He has trouble making the right decision with the puck when the opponent puts pressure on him and ends up giving the puck up entirely. We hope he learns to play under pressure as he acquires more game experience on this young team." The coach couldn't knock his offensive game however as he has two points in his 5 games. When asked about his own offensive game, Perrin had the following to say: "My offensive game is not a concern for me as the main part of a defenders game is to well... defend and obviously I haven't been able to help keep to puck out of our own net." The Rush better hope Perrin gets his act together as they figure to be a top team this year after winning 4 out of 5 games to start S67. WORD COUNT 265 Article reference

  11. Yukon Rush S67 Draft Coverage Today, I will cover the first 5 rounds of the Yukon Rush's draft selections from this past draft where I will analyse the players selected and give predictions and where I think they're all going to fit in the opening night lineup. The S67 took place July 2nd 2018 in Sydney,Australia and many fans ended up taking the long and expensive plane across the globe to Australia in order to follow the teams' draft selections live and in person. Lance Flowers The Yukon Rush opened up the draft by selecting defenseman, Lance Flowers with their much anticipated 2nd overall pick at the draft. The giant 6'7", 244 pound defenseman and is currently ranked #1 in the S68 VHL Draft Class so you know there is definitely a player here to be hyped about. Not only is he large in stature but he combines that size with a little bit of speed as well. Add that with the fact the guy can also carry a powerplay on his back with his slick passing abilities. Actually, there isn't really any flaw that stands out in his game at all he can do it all including knocking your ass to the ice on a nightly basis. I project Flowers to lead the team in minutes played, playing as the teams obvious #1 Defenseman. It was a great start to the Rush's draft as Flowers was definitely a piece they can build a team around. Frans Eller With the 2nd of their two top 5 selections, the Rush selected a right winger in Frans Eller. The Dane is a little on the smaller side but showed in his small window of games last year in Houston that he can handle his own and has some playmaking upside, getting 7pts in 11 GP, 5 of them being assists. However, if you had the label his style of game I'd say he's more your typical two way player that's solid at both ends of the ice. There's lots of promise behind Eller as he's ranked 3rd overall currently amongst the S68 draft class and the Rush are banking on Eller to be a player that will improve as the season goes on. I project Eller to take up a spot in the PK team as well as play on either top two forward lines. He's a versatile player that you could just move around the roster as the season goes on as he's able to play well with just about anyone. Justin Rushmore With their 2nd round pick the Rush selected left winger, Justin Rushmore. The Rush basically drafted another two-way player in Rushmore. Rushmore plays more of a shoot first type of game which isn't bad considering he has a pretty decent shot. He's ranked 10th in the s68 VHL Draft Rankings but i'd say he's got an edge in the skating department over Eller and the edge is a little surprising considering Rushmore is 6'5 weighing a little over 220 pounds. I project Rushmore to play on the Rush's first line with some time on the PK. I expect the Rush to use Rushmore as their team's go to sniper and maybe fan favourite due to his name containing the word RUSH. and then followed with the demand of more of it. Wolf Stansson Jr. Selected with the 25th overall pick of the draft, defenseman Wolf Stansson Jr. figures to be more of a defensive defensemen. He's effective at shutting down passing lanes and won't hesitate to block a shot for his team. It seems the Rush had a theme in mind drafting yet another huge player as Stansson Jr. stands at 6'8" and weighs as much as 250lbs! He also isn't afraid of using that size as he dominates the ice with his physical play. However, he had a unexciting ten game preview for Minnesota last year but we figure Stansson Jr. to be a big minute cruncher for the Rush, so lets hope he fairs a little better this time around. Stansson is currently ranked 4th overall in the s69 VHL draft rankings behind teammates, Flowers and Eller. I project Stansson Jr. to play alongside Flowers on the teams top pairing. Andrej Petrovic 4 picks later at the 29th overall pick, the Rush went with yet another defenseman in Andrej Petrovic. I bet nobody ever described him as small, be he is compared to his defensive counterparts at 6'1 190 lbs. Petrovic is a fast skating defensemen that can play anywhere on the roster. He could even manage to step up and challenge Stansson Jr. for his spot beside Flowers. He's the more offensively gifted defensemen on the roster after Flowers and is expected to be Flower's partner on the PP. He's ranked 14th in the s68 draft class rankings. I project Petrovic to play on the team's 2nd pairing. Brendan Plunkett To close out the third round of the VHLM draft the Rush selected left winger Brendan Plunkett with the 33rd overall pick. Finally a player with some experience, Plunkett is the first player selected in this draft to have already have a VHLM season under his belt. His 15 pts in 73 games in Minnesota isn't very impressive but it was enough to get the attention of the Malmo Nighthawk scouting team as he got drafted by them in the 5th round of the VHL draft that took place last week. Plunkett plays more of a playmaking style of game, he can really dish the puck. I project Plunkett to play on the 2nd trio. Erik Draven With the 36th overall pick of the VHLM draft, the Rush selected right winger Erik Draven. Draven is probably the best goal scorer selected by the Rush. He's got power and accuracy to his shot, and he'll get it off quik. However he needs to work on getting faster on his skates to be able to get to the high scoring areas quicker and to tuck in past defenders. I figure Plunkett's playmaking style of play will complement Draven very well on the 2nd offensive line. Expect the coach to give out some powerplay time to Draven as well. Seabass Perrin At 47th overall Perrin was selected not expecting much since this is where the draft really drops off in player quality. He's currently ranked 26th in the s68 VHL Draft Rankings though after moving up a couple of spots. He projects to be more of a defensive defenseman. He can hit, he puts his body in front shots, he has sound positioning too. However, hes a little on the slow side and needs to improve his skating to keep up in the VHLM. He also needs to learn how to relax with the puck as he seems to be always rushing to get rid of it. I figure Perrin will slot in as a defender on the last pairing if he even makes the team at all because he's shit. Thats all she wrote for the first 5 rounds of the draft, in total the Rush selected 8 players. Both Flowers and Eller were also top 5 picks and note that Plunkett was the only player selected in the first five rounds that has VHLM experience and is already drafted by a VHL team. Does this make him prime candidate for captaincy? Stay tuned! 1221 WORD COUNT *Using for PT Week period July 8-14th + July 15th-21st*
  12. 1. My skating definitely needs some improvement if I want to make it to the vhl. That'll be my focus this year. 2.ha ha nope. Stay at home dman, rookie season... odds of that are slim we got some pretty talented players on my squad. 3. Dustin Byfuglien, hard to play against and plays a real physical game. 4. Theres quite a few good players up to be drafted. I dont expect to be in the top ten, but my homeboy flowers should be! 5. I play good in my own end and I'm a nightmare for the opposing offensive players. That's my biggest asset so far.

  15. Perrin Excited to Begin Season with Rush Yesterday night, Seabass Perrin appeared on a local Whitehorse radio station, The Rush 96.1 to answer questions about the Yukon, life and the VHLM draft. In the interview with radio host Alex Rubberneck Perrin describes how he's excited to come play in the Yukon as he's never been in the arctic before this week. He explains how he's very impressed with the city of Whitehorse. "On my way here I was thinking this place would be some ugly rundown town due to it being so remote. You know what to my surprise it's actually a beautiful city, in the summertime at least. The Yukon river is absolutely stunning and I think i'm really going to enjoy my time here after all with all the fishing opportunities and endless trails to go sledding in during the long winter months. It's going to be different but i'll try to enjoy every minute of it while i'm here" The 47th overall pick of this year's draft also mentions later on in the interview that he was upset on how long it took during the VHLM draft for his name to be called up to the stage. "I don't want to sound ungrateful here, I love the Rush but I was initially pretty upset and how long it took to get selected at the draft. I didn't think i'd still be up for grabs in the 5th round but here I was still left off the board. There were some teams that I thought I had good solid discussions with before the draft that ultimately chose to go for what were in my mind lesser players instead of me. " The Rush's season is set to begin June 10th. WORD COUNT: 291

  17. 1. What do you hope to accomplish this year with the Rush? I hope to first off gain the trust of my coach as soon as possible through hard work and good hockey. My only goal this year is to make a name for myself in the VHLM in hopes to get drafted at the end of the year. 2. Who would scouts compare you to in another hockey league? Well I compare my style of game a lot to Keaton Louth who I grew up watching lots as a child growing up in Calgary. 3. Out of the 8 VHL teams, who would you like to be drafted by if you haven't been draft yet? I'm not really to picky on where I play, i'll play for anyone willing to take a chance by drafting me. Guess I wouldn't mind going home to Calgary or to Davos where my gramps won the cup. 5. What type of player should we expect to see from you this season, and moving forward in your VHL career? I intend to play a physical style of game and I plan to be a absolute nightmare for opposing players to play against. 1b. What do you think about the VHL during your time in the league? Haven't been here too long but so far it's been good, everyone's been helpful. 5b. Where do you see yourself in 5 VHL seasons? I see myself winning the Continental Cup.

  21. A reliable source close to the Perrin camp reveals that Seabass Perrin still plans on attending the VHLM Entry Draft toomorow after being selected by the Montreal Alouettes in the 6th round of the 2019 CFL draft that was held back in early May after months of rumours stating otherwise For the last couple of months since being selected the 2019 CFL Draft, rumours have been going around that Perrin was contemplating on quitting hockey in order to chase an opportunity to play Canadian Football with the Alouettes. Today however, Perrin's agent reveals to the media that this is defnitely not the case. His agent, Peter Jackman posted the following on twitter early yesterday morning: "Seabass' heart is in hockey, as a Canadian it's in his blood. He definitely feels honored to have been selected by the Alouettes after his last few successful highschool football seasons but he just wants to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and play hockey in the VHL." Perrin's grandfather Sebastien Perrin played almost a decade in the VHL in the early years of the league. He spent time with the Rams/Reign, Davos Dynamo and finished his career in Calgary where Seabass was born and raised. Sebastien Perrin even has his name on the Continental Cup after winning it back in S11 for HC Davos Dynamo. It's not like Perrin is taking that much of a risk by walking away from football, he's currently ranked 28th overall in the S68 VHLSC Draft Rankings so he's almost guaranteed to be drafted to a VHL team, effectively following in his grand pappy's footsteps. Jackson elaborated on Perrin's position this morning on a local radio station in Calgary: "The S68 VHL Entry Draft is still a fair bit away and Perrin hasn't played a single game yet in the VHLM let alone get drafted. There's obviously still time for him to change his mind if lets say things doesn't pan out after his first season in the VHLM. For now though we're going to continue down the path of a hockey career and we'll reassess his situation after the season. Obviously Perrin will make every attempt to make himself a hockey career but there's always football to turn back to for a plan B. Even from a financial standpoint I back my clients decision as a VHL player makes more dough than a CFL player." The Alouette management were surprised of his decision to leave footbhall espeically after his stellar play during the Edmonton Huskies CJFL Prairie Conference Final run. Playing as a wide receiver, Perrin set a CJFL record for yards rushed in a playoff game last year in their game against the Regina Thunder with 407 yards. "We're dissapointed in Perrin's decision to leave football as he showed a lot a promise and we were looking forward to seeing him develop over the next few years. For us, the pick used to draft him ends up being a wasted pick so we're not happy about that, however we hope Perrin's decision to play hockey ends up paying off for him. " - Montreal Alouette's GM, Kavis Reed It'll be exciting to see where this exciting prospect will go once the VHLM draft begins toomorow at 8pm EST. Stay tuned! WORD COUNT: 541
  22. 1. What inspired your player's name? Well my first player's name was named after me in real life, didnt want to reuse it. I figure this is my original player's grandson, therefore reusing the last name Perrin. Seabass is my nickname in real life so I went with that. 2. What's been your favorite part of the league so far? I've liked how everyone seems eager to help. 3. What's been your least favorite part of the league so far? navigating the forums, i havent gotten the hang of where to find the things i want yet. 4. Do you have any questions about the league that you would like answered? Well i've asked other members all the questions that I had. Like I said before everyone is eager to help and provide you with good information. 5. For our S67 players, do you plan on going up to the VHL, or staying down? For our S68 players, or S67 players going back into the VHLM draft, which team do you think will pick you up? Which team do you hope will pick you up? Honestly I dont really care who picks me up as I just want to be able to play and earn my stripes here. I supposed id rather play for one of the bottom teams from last year as I think they'd have more holes to fill and Id like to take the opportunity to pick up as much ice time as I can. Now where I think i'll end up? Probably in Canada. 6. The VHL currently offers a bit of bonus TPE for being involved in our affiliates, the SBA (basketball league) and the EFL (American football league). Have you heard about this? If you have, have you considered joining those leagues? If you came here from either league, how does the VHL compare to the others? Not until now no, and I dont plan on joining either as I dont follow those other two sports.
  23. Nice work love these history lessons
