Wayne Gretzky Joins the Vancouver Wolves in Off-Season Blockbuster.

The Vancouver Wolves made a blockbuster trade with the New York Americans sending their star defensemen Guntis Gavilrovs @Girts in exchange for Wayne Gretzky @MubbleFubbles. The trade was met with mixed reaction as Guntis ultimately waived his no trade clause. Unlike two seasons ago when Vancouver GM sprung the trade on Guntis and he declined to waive stating his desire to win a cup in Vancouver and his belief in the team. The belief paid off and the Wolves won a cup in Season 96. Unfortunately with the news of the lowering cap, keeping the core together just wouldn't have been possible. Fans directed their anger to ownership and management, but mostly ownership. Guntis was coming off an MVP caliber season for Vancouver and will surely be up for several awards if not win them. In Gretzky the Canucks get a late bloomer who has a very high ceiling. It's clear the plan in Vancouver is to load up on offense and see where that gets them, as they have four forwards well above 1100 tpa. Early indications are that Vancouver plans to enter the season with a smaller roster and attempt to fill holes as the season progresses, so to speak. The hope is Gretzky will have instant chemistry with the returning forwards and Bollos can carry a pairing by himself. Newly acquired Collberg @Masu Chan and sophomore Mathiesen @xsjack will form the other pair for Vancouver both are very good defensemen in their own right and at varying stages of their careers. So plz don't hate me get excited Vancouver fans!

Need @Grape to chime in before I decide if it's an overpay or an underpay or a fair trade or if both GM's should be banned.

This jersey retirement is sponsored by your city jail. The Vancouver Wolves announced today the jersey retirement of Liv Slater @Subject056 at our home opener versus the Chicago Phoenix in Season 98. Vancouver acquired Liv from Chicago during the Season 89 off-season, she was coming off a strong rookie performance for the rebuilding Chicago Phoenix. Slater came to Vancouver with the promise of being the next star defender as Pierre Emile Bouchard neared retirement. She had a modest start in Vancouver playing behind some future hall of famers. In her first season Liv put up 44 points and Wolves made the playoffs. Shortly after Vancouver lost then goalie Brandt Fuhr to retirement, so the GM decided to enter a rebuild. Slater proving her loyalty to the franchise would stick through the rebuild and help the Wolves enter contention once again. Her best season was Season 92 where she put up a whopping 36 goas, which is still the highest goal total of any defender in the hybrid era (S83 to present). She would go on to take home all three defender awards (Valiq, Wylde and Labatte), despite Vancouver missing the playoffs. The Wolves would return to relevancy again in Season 94 and Liv Slater would ultimately help them win the Continental Cup in Season 96. Slater was what Vancouver Wolves should strive to be on and off the ice. Her name will be synonymous with the Wolves for generations to come as one of, if not the greatest female defender in VHL history. We also believe she'll get the call to the hall of fame in the future, the sooner the better. I propose two different options with this change. Remove the salary cap with a luxury tax and send the GM's a tab at the end of each season if they go over. Every 2 million over the luxury tax is a forced $50 donation and a spanking by @JardyB10. Or allow retained salary up to 50% in transactions allowing teams to really go all in with a reduced cap. Also allow third party retained salary so rebuilding teams have an incentive to get a pick for taking on salary like in the NHL.

Here is a picture of a red panda. @Lemorse7

Get rid of back up games. Nobody cares about Greg Clegane's career stats. @Victor
