  1. My apologies, I do not speak Finnish sooo that's what I relied on. I'll just replace it with English haha
  2. Finnish "You need to reinvent your game Niklas! Go sign with a team that is a transitional stage and hit the reset button. Your too tentative out there, just shoot the puck Nik! You have a great shot but your too worried about letting your teammates handle the offensive responsibilities. Go into a situation where you can grow with some younger players and you'll be relied upon to carry more of the offense. Go watch some video of a guy I used to play with, Luc Robitaille. Just shoot the fucking puck Niklas!"
  3. Niklas Kurri has always possessed the natural ability to score goals. During his time in the VHLM, Kurri was captain of the Saskatoon Wild and relied upon to be one of the teams offensive leaders. Kurri scored at a very high rate in juniors and never hesitated to put the puck on net. After transitioning to the VHL, Kurri seemed to become more passive. Perhaps part of the reason is that Kurri has always had a fair amount of talent surrounding him. Kurri has never been relied upon to be his lines main contributor of offensive production. Through the first two season's of his career, Kurri has scored 37 goals and fired 411 shots on net. Kurri's shooting percentage increased significantly last season, but remains below the 10% mark. Helsinki, Finland Before signing as a free agent in New York, Niklas returned home to Helsinki, Finland and spent some time with his family during the off-season. It was the first time Kurri had been back to Finland since his rookie season in the VHLM. During the visit Niklas had a chance to spend some time with his famous uncle, National Hockey League Hall of Fame forward, Jari Kurri. Kurri expressed frustration with his lack of goal scoring at the VHL Level. The Victory Hockey League is an extremely offensive league. Niklas had yet to put up very good numbers despite playing for the Quebec City Meute last season, one of the leagues most offensively talented teams. Jari told him he needed to rethink the way he was playing the game, "You need to reinvent your game Niklas! Just shoot the fucking puck Niklas!" Was pretty much what Jari told him. Kurri shoots Niklas came back to North America and appears to have taken his uncles advice. Kurri has fired 107 shots on net through the VHL seasons first 18 games. Kurri leads the Americans in shots and is second on the team with 7 goals. Kurri recently scored a hat trick versus Stockholm carrying the Americans during that game. Kurri has meshed well with fellow Finn Jorma Ruutu but winger Azi Ali has been a major disappointment. Ali has fired 56 shots on goal and only found the net once. Having Ali on the line with Kurri and Ruutu is probably hurting the Finnish forwards production. It will be interesting to see how long management puts up with Ali's lack of production before finding a better player for the teams 2nd line. Kurri appears very close to developing into a top offensive player. During back to back matchups versus Kurri's former team, Quebec City, Kurri fired off 11 shots in each game. The first game Kurri went goalless and missed the net in the shootout. The second time around Kurri scored a key goal and scored the shootout winner.
  4. Kurri with 11 shots, a goal and the shootout winner... must have been trying to prove a point.
  5. yeah I shoot a lot which is key to scoring a lot. At least I had the assists on the tying goal
  6. Sooooo.. nice to see you around rice
  7. The Season 44 regular season is underway and Niklas Kurri is starting to get acclimated with his surroundings in New York. Kurri had only visited New York briefly when he was a child. The Finnish native was so young at that time that he says he hardly remembers it. Kurri visited The United States' largest city when his uncle Jari was playing for The National Hockey Leagues, New York Rangers. "Yeah, They tell me that I visited out here when I was just a child" Says The Americans center, "Honestly I don't know if I remember it.. I remember traveling to city's with huge building's to watch Jari play, but Yeah, I don't know if I remember New York. It's an incredible city that I've visited a few time's while with The Seattle Bears and Quebec City Meute. I really like the lifestyle around here and I look forward to spending a lot of time here. I signed a contract for 3 seasons so I intend on staying in New York for a long time. I'm looking to purchase I condo or something with a nice view of the skyline." It was an interesting decision for Kurri to leave the Quebec City Meute. Kurri had just played a key role, for a team that had played an excellent regular season and been upset by the eventual Continental Cup champions. Quebec City had even entrusted Kurri with the role of playing with the teams star player's, Aksel Thomassen and Bruno Wolf. Kurri also led the Meute in ice time while shorthanded and received a fair amount of powerplay time as well. "Yeah, The opportunity Quebec City gave me was wonderful. I had no problem with the ice-time that the team gave me. I still have at least a few seasons left in the tank and I feel that I'm improving as a player. The talent that New York has acquired over the past few seasons gives them a chance to be successful for multiple seasons. Quebec City has an excellent team but it looks like their window will be closing soon. Bruno Wolf, Jack Wylde, Aksel Thomassen, These are some of the best players in the league, but they may be nearing the end of their careers. Here in New York we have young players such as E'Twaun Delicious, Nicolas Caprivi, Edwin Reencarnacion, Golden Jedtsson, Benjamin Dupont, Jorma Ruutu even a player like Alexander Davidson who hasn't even cracked the roster yet.. These players are going to be the stars of The VHL's future. I think the teams management has placed the organization in a great position to win multiple Continental Cup's. I look forward to being a part of the next group of players to put our names on that trophy here in New York. " Time will tell if Kurri has made the right decision for his future. The potential for great things in the future is there.
  8. So does this meen that Wasty isn't a free agent? Good luck in Quebec City, it's a great team.
  9. Player Name: Niklas Kurri VHL Team: New York Americans Cash you have: $5,750,000 Purchase Name: Point Task Upgrade - $2,000,000 // Double Award Prediction - $2,500,000 Cost of Purchase: $2,000,000 + $2,500,000 = $4,500,000 Cash Left: $5,750,000 - $4,500,000 = $1,250,000
  10. Kurri arrives in New York Just one off-season removed from signing as a free agent with The Quebec City Meute, Finnish center Niklas Kurri is packing his bags and heading to the big apple. Kurri signed a 3 year contract with the North American Conference's, New York Americans. "Yeah I'm thrilled to sign a contract here in New York." Said Kurri, "I had talks with GM Advantage last season, I was very close to joining New York back then. Ultimately I'm glad that I chose to sign with Quebec last off-season. The Meute are a great organization and I really enjoyed my time there. Initially I was skeptical to sign with them because I didn't know Brovy too well, but he ended up being a great General Manager. You can tell that he cares a ton about the success of his team and he'll make moves to give his team the best possible shot to win games. "We had an excellent shot to win the Continental Cup last season but unfortunately things didn't work out. I'm sure they'll be right back in contention this season for a VHL championship. Having a chance to play with excellent with excellent players such as Jack Wylde, Bruno Wolf, Aksel Thomassen, Travis Boychuck, that was a great opportunity that I'm glad I took. All of those guys are all-star caliber players. The opportunity to be apart of that team really helped me dedicate myself to becoming a better player" As much as Kurri enjoyed his time with The Meute, it had become unclear what type of role the franchise would be able to offer him in the future. According to reports, Quebec City didn't have available cap space to offer Kurri a contract. Kurri dedicated himself to becoming a better player last season and desired a multi-year contract for more stability in his VHL future. "Yeah the multi year contract is nice! I've moved around a lot since joining the VHL and even in the VHLM before that. New York is a incredible organization who I see as having an excellent future. I know Golden Jedtsson from Team Scandinavia and I know that he will turn into one of the top defenseman in the league. My fellow Finn, Jorma Ruutu, he's one of the best team players in the entire VHL. Nicholas Caprivi is a top forward who will score some huge goals to help us win games. Last year's #1 pick Et'waun Delicious has superstar written all over him. Benjamin DuPont will be a great playmaking center in this league. Jax Barnstormer is one of the best young goalies in the entire league, We also have #1 pick in this seasons draft! The future looks incredible for us. I'm elated to be a part of it and hopefully I can help accelerate the process." The New York Americans are definitely a team to watch out for. It will be interesting to see if Kurri can take his game to the next level with a new team.
  11. Accept! Looking forward to being a part of New York for the next 3 seasons!
  12. Let me know if you ever need ideas for writing, I'm Bottas in the shl.
  13. Money isn't the most important thing but it is nice.
  14. Congrats Wylde probably has some more recognition coming his way!
  15. Kurri making the list next season
  16. Zoidberg a scrub I've thought about re-creating but I think I'm gonna just try to make Kurri a late bloomer.
  17. Kurri defends the corner in his own-zone It seems like just yesterday that Niklas Kurri failed to come to a contract agreement with The Seattle Bears. It may seem like yesterday but a lot has happened since Kurri declared for free agency. Kurri ended up signing a contract with the Quebec City Meute last off-season. The contract paid him just 2 million dollars for the season. Kurri reportedly asked for a mutual option with a slight raise to use as motivation to continue to improve as a player and hopefully earn the pay raise with the team. Quebec City stood pat and would only offer a mutual option at the same 2 million dollar salary that they were offering for the 1st year of the contract. Kurri took the deal with Quebec City and quickly began to improve his game. The Finnish forward improved by leaps and bounds over the course of his first season in Quebec City. Niklas Kurri has always been known as an all around player. During his rookie season with the Bears, Kurri was sometimes exposed as a defensive liability against the top VHL players. Kurri prides himself in his two-way play and made a commitment in the off-season to improve that part of his game before concentrating on putting the puck in the net. Kurri's hard work paid off. Kurri was a key member of the very successful, highly ranked, Quebec City penalty kill. Further more, Kurri dramatically improved his plus/minus rating. Kurri finished with as a +50 in the category and was consistently matched up with opponents top scoring forwards. Kurri's play improved to the point where he found himself paying on The Meute's top line by around the halfway point of the season. Kurri was paired on the line with Aksel Thomasen and Bruno Wolf. Surprisingly, Kurri's offensive production dropped off when he joined the line with Quebec City's top two scorers. Kurri ended up recording 21 goals and assisting on 26 of his teammates goals. More importantly then his statistical output, Kurri showed a willingness to dedicate himself to improving off the ice. This past season was easily the hardest Kurri has worked to improve as a player, since he joined the VHL. Kurri improved by leaps and bounds and is definitely a much more well rounded player then he was when he joined The Meute. Kurri was even selected as one of the forwards for Team Scandinavia. A couple of Team Scandinavia fans. By all accounts Kurri has really enjoyed his time in Quebec City since signing with the Meute. During the regular season, Quebec City was the the top team in the North American Conference. The Meute earned a first round bye in the post-season, before running into Kurri's former team, The Seattle Bears. The Bears really started to come alive in the second half of the season and have received clutch goals from Kurri's former line-mate, German winger Wolfgang Strauss. There is a very good chance that Niklas Kurri will continue his career in Quebec City. The people in the organization have been great. But when free agency begins, nothing will be for certain. Kurri is opting out of his contract and will once again be an unrestricted free agent. 543 words
