Season 83 Playoffs Presser Edition 1. Toronto enters the playoffs as the #2 seed in the North American Conference, and will be playing the Calgary Wranglers following the Wild Card round. How are you feeling entering the post-season? Hopefully I can contribute more during the playoffs and not just be a passenger. If not, I have some things to consider. 2. What was the most shocking development in the VHL now that the regular season has played out? No idea what you're talking about exactly, so I cannot comment. 3. How did the VHFL go for you this season? I didn't participate... 4. Have you gotten any love in VHL Theme Week articles? Nope. 5. On a scale of 1 to 10, how much does pollen suck? Maybe a 6, it sucks for some, rarely affects me though. 6. What do you think the single most difficult thing to do is in any sport? To start being consistent and to continue being consistent after taking punches, sometimes beatings.

1. Like hot garbage. I'm looking forward to it ending. 2. Not really. It's been silent for a few seasons now, so I'm not surprised. 3. Its hard to say. Season 83, Week 4 Presser: 1. Paul Atreides @Mr_Hatter, Aurelien Moreau @Frank, and Oskar Lindbergh were selected to the VHL All-Star Game, and Ryuji Sakamoto @der meister represented Toronto at the Top Prospects Game. What did you think about Toronto's representation at this event? Pretty great honestly. They're all top-tier players in their leagues so it's great that Toronto has good representation. 2. With TOR G's eight starts in the books, how did the AI backup perform this season? Not too bad honestly, Torg got the job done. We're going to see him in action if Lindy isn't feeling it. 3. What's the secret to success in the hybrid era? I don't know. I'm not having any really, so no comment. 4. What's your favorite aspect of the spring weather? The scent of fresh rain and cut grass is a welcome change to the sound of crunching in snow or splashing of slush 5. What's a skill you wish you could learn and master overnight? Oof, this could take awhile... um.. probably shoot the puck better like I used to. 6. What's the silliest thing you've ever seen or heard about in the VHL? My ban. Silly as fuck

1. Toronto has now won seven games in a row, with just one back-up start remaining for TOR G. The Legion are seven points behind the Seattle Bears, can they overtake them? We can, if we play well enough and if Seattle gets complacent. They look like the team to beat in our conference, so we have our hands full. 2. Paul Atreides @Mr_Hatter was selected as the Toronto representative to the VHL All-Star Game, with Oskar Lindbergh and Aurelien Moreau on the ballot to join him. Which do you see making the cut? Honestly, either guy is deserving of that honor. They play like masters of their position, so there's no wrong choice. 3. What VHL team has been the biggest surprise this season (for better or worse)? I thought Helsinki would be better and London would be worse, but London has good defense so there's that. 4. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are underway, who's winning the Cup? Avalanche. 5. What are your thoughts on the forum content boon of the #FreeJoey movement? Who the heck is Joey? 6. What do you think is the most thankless job in the VHL? I've been an AGM and worked for VSN as a head scout and yeah there was little to no recognition for that so yeah.

Season 83 Week 2 Presser: 1. Season 83 is officially underway, and Toronto currently sits at 2nd in the North American Conference. How do you feel about the Legion's start so far? Superb, I'm glad with the groups' effort and I knew we had fight in us to get to this point. 2. Off-season acquisition Paul Atreides @Mr_Hatter has been leading the charge with 23 points in 15 games. Why is he so awesome right now? He took my spot on the top line, that's why. 3. What are your thoughts on the new hybrid era of the VHL so far? Meh, it's still weird. It's as if I'm not playing how I want to be. 4. Ryuji Sakamoto @der meister, Phoebe Bridgers @GrittyIsKing, and Alexandre Forgues @Alex99 are putting on quite a show in the VHLE and VHLM so far. What do you think about seeing the youngsters in the pipeline doing well? Some rookies are going to put some veterans out of a job in the coming season(s) 5. What fictional universe would you want to live in? Not the Metaverse. Maybe in Sword Art Online's universe? 6. What is your beverage of choice (not necessarily an adult beverage, but it could be)? I'm turning 40 in a few months, but I still like a glass of chocolate milk before bed. It's the only habit I kept since I'm young.

Review time: HOT. Vibrant and clean af. The background is dope; glitch at the bottom and weave in the top center. I don't know what that black thing is on the right but that almost doesn't matter, because it fits somehow. The render is awesome, and it's properly placed. Nice touch with the outline too. The text and placement and pretty great as well, the colors used give the graphic an 80s Miami Vice vibe. Sick detail with the team name on the far right side vertically. Awesome job dude! 10/10

Review time: This is so interesting! I have absolutely no idea what context is being used, but the the theme is pretty apparent. I'm getting a post-apocalyptic/fall-of-the-Roman-Empire vibe happening, and the detail is pretty awesome. The zamboni machine with the Seattle Bears' logo on it is pretty self-explanatory, but I think the star of the show is the moon and the lighting. The clouds do look a bit strange, like they're low-resolution. The black-sepia color scheme works beautifully with the lighting from the moon and the detail of the demolished remains is awesome. I'd like to know the context of this though, or do I? Super job dude, 9.5/10

Season 83 Opening Night Presser: 1. On Wednesday, the 83rd season of the VHL will officially begin. What predictions do you have for the upcoming season? I'm hoping a top 3 finish in the conference and a Finals appearance, beating whoever dares challenge us. 2. What do you think of the league rolling out preseason sims this season? It was a bit weird, quite top heavy. I think it will sort it self out though. 3. Speaking of the preseason, how has it gone for you so far? It went by alright, we had some guys like Atreides and Moreau that made their presence felt early. I'm hoping that continues! 4. What player do you believe will have the biggest impact for Toronto this season? Lindbergh. He's been super focused and it shows. If we get far, it'll be due to his heroics. 5. You've been given a lightsaber for some reason. What color do you decide to make it? Crimson Red. 6. What do you think is the most difficult thing to do in any sport? Probably the laser-focus part. It's harder for some to learn that, but some athletes just have that 'it' factor.

Review time: This is pretty neat. I'm digging the background, I want to see more of it. The render and logo swap are pretty cool, maybe the render is a bit too big, but the placement is appropriate. While the render is clean, it's unlike anything you usually do with the heavy effect on the render. Maybe a bit more effect would have been better. The text is pretty great, the two-type font choice, size and placement are on point. Overall this graphic is complete but could have used a bit more detail. 8/10

Review time. Not bad at all. Overall this graphic has everything it needs. That logo swap is near perfect, considering the sizing and placement of it. I like the minimal effects used as well. I can't tell what those little circles are, are they little hockey pucks or oddly-shaped droplets of water? The background is lacking, something; it's too plain, and I cannot put my finger on what is missing. The wrinkle and tear effect are pretty nifty, but perhaps a bit too much of the graphic is torn away. Not crazy about the font size, style and placement either. Overall this sig is decent, it's just lacking some detail. 7.5/10

Season 83 Off-Season Continues Presser: 1. Following the draft, undrafted free agent @Brodie_Landry III signed with Toronto, giving the Legion four new prospects this season. What's something he could do to eventually make the leap to the VHL? Keep earning consistently. He could be a dark horse to make the team, but sometimes those players can be difference makers, ya know? 2. What are your opinions on Toronto's logo? Do you think there is a need for a re-design? I just never understood a bird representing a Legion, but hey that doesn't mean it doesn't look cool amirite? 3. In your opinion, what is the most iconic VHL logo? Probably the Seattle Bears. Not sure why, it's one of the original logos, no? 4. What video game, book, or other form of media are you really into right now? Messing around with Humankind and City Game studio, those are pretty fun so far. Looking at Asseto Corsa as well. 5. There will a VHL preseason this season as the league enters the hybrid era. What are you hoping to accomplish during the preseason? Establishing dominance early. We have a top tier squad, what could go wrong? 6. Opening Day of the MLB season was last week! What team were you cheering on? I don't follow baseball, but I hear the Blue Jays are doing alright?

Review time! Classic Steve graphic, very heavy effect. I swear that looks like Gerard Butler... the background glowy fade thing on the lights (it could be low contrast, idk) looks a bit weird and out of place. The font choices aren't my favorites at all. The sizing and placement are just fine, the two different fonts just don't look good together, especially the handwritten italic one. The other looks like a title font for an Arabian movie DVD case, it's not congruent. As for Gerard Butler, he's perfect. 7.5/10

Review time! Pretty cool draft graphic! I like the placement of everything, it's very neat and organized. The jerseys and logo swaps are dope; love me some red and black together. Very nice touch with the logo in the background as well. Only criticism I have is the font choice in the drafted player list; it's quite blocky, and for a lot of small text in red over black, it's hard to make out for some people to read without squinting or something. Altogether it's a very nice graphic. Great work! 9/10

Season 83: VHL Draft Edition Presser: 1. With the 7th overall pick, the Toronto Legion selected defenseman Ryuji Sakamoto @der meistercontinuing Toronto's recent trend of selecting defensemen in the first round. What do you feel Sakamoto can bring to this roster when he makes the leap to the VHL? He's going to be a stud. I've said it in previous press conferences. He has what it takes to be a champ. 2. At 25th overall, Toronto was thrilled to select Calen McKay @Kendrick, a talented center prospect with a very high ceiling and a rich background in VHL lore. Can we expect McKay to be a big-time steal for the Legion? Yes we can. It's about time Toronto starts getting steals in the draft with quality players. 3. With the 55th overall selection, the Legion selected a potential diamond in the rough with Alexandre Forgues @Alex99, who is slated to play in the VHLM this season, but as an active player, has the potential to eventually factor into Toronto's plans. Any suggestions for ways Forgues can make his way to the pros? Stay consistent in training and be adventurous sometimes, earning a little bit extra from time to time. The points add up to a VHL player. 4. On top of the VHL Draft, Toronto GM Thomas Landry II has been busy this off-season, and has led Team USA to the Gold Medal Game in the World Cup, facing off against Toronto goaltender Oskar Lindbergh and Team Nordic. Who are you pulling for in this one? I'm not really following the extracurriculars, but what the heck: Landry or Lindbergh winning is a win for Toronto either way. 5. To put the team into a rebuild and then see it through isn`t easy. Losing is never easy but he didn`t take the easy way out. He has build a strong young team that should contend with a bit of luck so I think it might be too early to actually judge Peace as the GM in Toronto. That being said it is always sad when someone loses enjoyment of something that they clearly enjoyed doing in the past. Stepping back is never easy but one has to consider themselves first at time. He will be remember in short as an respectful GM and person. 2. Who do you think will be the next GM of the Legion will be? Anyone you're hoping for? I am not sure as it all depends on who actually applies for the position but if Doomsday decided to apply then Toronto will be in great hands. Much respect for him as member when he played in Prague and how much he actually taught me behind the scenes about the league. Great choice but not the only choice. 3. As always with trades into the future; they are hard to project what the team might end up with as it will be determined by the other teams placement but based on where he was traded these two picks could be very high to middle of the first and second round. With S84 draft being strong with a lot of recreates Toronto should walk away with four very good players with the current draft picks that they have. S75 Draft was more then 10 rounds while not expecting S84 Draft to be as deep it should have some very high end talent through the first two or three rounds. Yes, I am recreating for that Draft as well but not sure what type of player to build yet. Guessing based on trends Toronto should draft two defenders and two forwards in that draft depending on best players available. Tender looks set for a few more seasons and they can be collected later in the fourth. 4. 30 games to go, and Toronto is within one point of fourth, and comfortably in fifth place. Where do you see the Legion finishing up? I always had Toronto around the fourth and fifth place but third is well within reach. This should be the teams goal if you want to avoid the meta team at the top and play the less meta team in the first round (None Wild card) 5. Okay, I noticed but I also don`t think it was a true representation of an all-star game since majority of the players are meta built that went to the game. Add in the fact that not every team even had more then one player that could be voted for left a bit of an empty taste in a lot of teams mouths. I don`t even know how was announced to the final team or when the game was/is going to be played. 6. What's something about the spring season that you really look forward to? Cherry blossoms here in Japan are amazing during the spring but we have had a lot of cold weather of late and snow; which isn`t normal so even the plum blossoms haven`t bloomed yet. I think any change is better than no change in this case, I don't think it's healthy for a league to just have one build that is 110% better than all the rest, you don't want users to feel bad because they are trying something different and hurting the team. I would have a hard time keeping interest myself if I was dumping most of my points into two stats to max out, leaving me limited on other stats, especially if I (or whoever it may be) aren't max earners. Doing nothing and leaving it how it is would be worse. 2. Do what you guys did last year, outscore them! 3. The big news in the VHL this week came with the announcement of a brand new hybrid attribute system, taking effect next season and effectively ending the era of the meta. What are your feelings on this? Sounds like a big experiment that will either pass or fail. Things will get interesting and/or messy, but it will sort itself out in time. 2. Regardless of the outcome of the final games of the season, it looks very likely that Toronto will be facing off against the Seattle Bears in the Wild Card round. What will the Legion need to do to win the Wild Card series for the second year in a row? Play better than them in all corners of the rink. It can be done. 3. Over in London, the United have an incredible trio of rookies with over 100 points, something that has never happened before in VHL history. How serious of a threat are they to suddenly represent the European Conference in the Continental Cup Finals? Not much, really. Inexperience will catch up to them in some way. 4. Review time There's a lot to critique here. I'll start off with what I like; the render. Very nice placement, and with the logo swap, it looks pretty great! The blue blotches on the jersey covering up the Sharks logos is kinda sloppy though, not sure if you know how to remove objects. In all honesty it looks like an effect; call it a happy accident I suppose! Not sure what's up with the green laser eye, it looks strange. The oval around the graphic is a hard pass for me personally. As for the text, #61 means nothing to the viewer; add your player's name here. This is a big oversight. 7/10
