The World Juniors rosters have been announced recently, and the tournament will be starting soon. This presents a big chance for some of the prospects we're tracking on this series to increase their draft stock. Anyways, let's see where they stand now. 9 players were created last week. Spencer Elsby earned the most TPE in the draft class last week, with 35. Spartan was hired as the AGM of New York. Congrats to him! twists was hired as the AGM of Halifax. Congrats to him as well! WJC Spartan, twists and Spence King were all hired as WJC GMs. Good luck to all of them! Jungkok, Adam Frence, Slov Loski, Spencer Elsby, and DeFenz Mann were named to Team Asia. SS Hornet, Andrew Su, Timothy Brown, and Alex Letang were named to Team Canada. Valtteri Vaakanainen was named to Team Europe. Robin Winter, Gino DiGiannantonio, General Zod, Randy Marsh, and Chance Rust were named to Team USA. Latrell Mitchell, Ziarie Anigbogou, Bobby Wyman, Zamboni Driver, and Nils Friedriksen were named to Team World. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing [-] SS Hornet [-] Robin Winter [-] Gino DiGiannatonio [-] Valtteri Vaakanainen [-] Latrell Mitchell [1] Randy Marsh [1] General Zod [-] Andrew Su [1] Alex Letang [1] Jungkok [-] DeFenz Mann [-] Remy Moreau Newly Qualified / Requalified Andrew Green Ernie King Greyson Willis Jared Willis Jer Lefebvre Newly Unqualified Connor Tanner Felix Kaiser Hank McKill Huang Tun [10] - Joseph Gainer [9] - Klaus Scrungledorf [9] - James Rose RISER OF THE WEEK Lucas Brandt - C - 108 TPE Now, I know Lucas Brandt isn't one of our top three risers of the week, but I would like to make an exception, because he's made a lot of great moves recently, moving him up 4 spots in my rankings. Not only was he named one of the World Juniors GMs, he was also named the AGM of Halifax in the VHLM. Establishing yourself in the league is a massive step for a first gen, and removes almost all the risk attached to the status of being a first gen. Even before earning either of these jobs, twists was very active on the forums, and earned TPE in abundance. Further demonstrating his commitment to the league, he donated as well this week. With 31 goals and 66 points already this season, Brandt is a goal scorer, who doesn't sacrifice the defensive side of the game in the process. He is definitely one to watch, and I could easily see him climbing to first round status by season's end. Robin Winter, Gino DiGiannantonio, DeFenz Mann, Andrew Su, and Jungkok secured at least a point per game average on the season, all reaching 72 points. ACHIEVEMENT CENTRE’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK Gino DiGiannantonio - RW - 232 TPE My third ranked prospect in the draft, Gino is a pure sniper. Nothing more, nothing less. With 46 goals on the season already, which is tied for fifth in the league, he is absolutely tearing up the VHLM in his draft season, making his case to be a top pick. He also has 86 points, which is second in this draft class. His defensive game is also impressive, currently being his second highest attribute. When discussing his TPE earning, it has to be mentioned that he has not missed one capped TPE yet in any of his full weeks. He has also hit 20+ TPE in five separate weeks. It is all but guaranteed that any team who lands Gino will be extremely happy with what they get. Hey guys! You may know that I listen to the podcast a lot, and I figured I’d ask a few questions. Pretty draft centred questions, as that’s what I’ve really been interested in over the last 3 seasons. 1. Which S73 recreate are you most excited to see develop? 2. Do you have any ideas for your next players? Position, build, name, stuff like that. 3. What’s a player you think was a reach when they were drafted, but has worked out great for their team? On the contrary, what’s a player who fell too far in the draft and has proved their doubters wrong so far? 4. What’s one new thing you’d like to see as a part of draft coverage in the VHL? 5. What’s the biggest difference between this season’s draft, and last season’s? 6. Which VHLM team has the best alumni, and why is it Misssisauga? Thanks!

The World Juniors are a great tournament that showcases the top young talent from all over the globe. This season’s tournament includes many future stars in the VHL, and it will unite some incredible players who we may never get to see play together again. That said, although each team is made up of some amazing talent, certain teams appear to have the upper hand on paper. Let’s see who are the favourites to win it all, and who are the underdogs heading into the tournament. 1. Europe Seemingly the favourites every season in recent memory, Europe has no problems churning out one elite prospect after another. This season is no different. Europe has a star-studded, deep roster that will be extremely hard for other teams to deal with. Strength - Forwards and Goalies As I previously mentioned, Team Europe will be very hard to contain for other teams, and that is mostly because of their star power up front, with their entire top 6 being VHL players. That is not to take away from the third line either, with them each being above 200 TPE as well. This group is deep, and they will be unbelievably difficult to defend over the course of a full game. Their depth at the goalie position is remarkable as well, with both goalies already at max TPA in the VHLM. Both Bruden and Sjostrom are more than reliable if called upon. Weakness - Defensive Depth While this defensive unit is by no means weak, it is the weakest link on the team. Davis and Zyrok12 are great pieces to have, but the second pair doesn’t come close to matching the element they bring to the ice. I do think they will hold their own though because although they are weaker in comparison to their own team, they aren’t too weak in comparison to most other teams’ second pairs that we will later touch on. All in all, there’s not much to dislike with this European team. 2. United States of America S70’s champions, the Americans will look to take home gold with the same strengths and weaknesses as Europe, though their weaknesses may prove to be more glaring as the tournament progresses. Strength - Forwards and Goalies Similar to Europe, Team USA has two very capable goaltenders in Wolski and Crawford, who may just be able to mask their team’s flaws with their play. Up front, they have plenty of talent as well, much of it being some of the VHLM’s elite forwards. Gary Tarantino and Thomas Landry II are both in the VHL already and headline a very solid crew of forwards. Weakness - Defense Simply put, this defensive group is lacking star power and seems a step behind the rest of the team. With an average TPE count of 169, the goalies may have a bit more of a workload on their hands when considering some of the forward groups in the Worlds Juniors this year. That said, three of the four defensemen on this team are S72 players, so they could have more potential to grow as the tournament goes along, especially Chance Rust, who is still a very new player. 3. Canada After being the underdogs last season, Canada put up a great performance and ended up losing to Team USA in the gold medal game. This season they see a boost up the power rankings, and only time will tell if they can finish what they started a season ago. Strength - Star Power Canada’s offence is headlined by prominent names such as Erik Killinger, SS Hornet and Daldo, who make up the team’s first line. Killinger and Daldo both play in the big league, for Toronto and Helsinki respectively. Hornet is undoubtedly one of the top players in the S72 draft, and should also be an important piece. On defence, Hugh Jass is their star defenseman, who will most likely carry a lot of the load for that group. There’s no disputing that Team Canada has some big pieces on board. Weakness - Goalies and Depth Although Woody McPine has emerged as a top goalie prospect since the S71 Draft, he is still considerably behind the top goalies in this tournament in terms of TPE. The depth behind him isn’t there for Team Canada, so he will be their go-to all tournament. After the stars I mentioned earlier, there isn’t much depth concerning skaters either. Depth could very well be an issue for this team, and the big names will have to prove their worth. 4. Asia Not budging from last year’s power rankings is Asia, who look to be a team that will rely on their goaltending if they want to make a run for gold. This contrasts with last season’s team, whose biggest concern going into the tournament was goaltending. Strength - Goalies As explained above, Asia’s starter, Nicolas Fomba, looks to be a key piece for the team. The rest of the squad doesn’t have the skill of a top team and will turn to him to lock it down when they need it most. Sitting at 238 TPE, Fomba isn’t a superstar, but he is very much capable of being a rock in the crease for his team when they need it. Weakness - Forwards Now, don’t think that this forward group doesn’t have any good players. Kyl Oferson, last season’s first overall pick, could be a catalyst for Team Asia. Vladimir Shaposhnikov is another solid piece, and Richard Penisson, who leads the VHLM in points, rounds out the forwards above 200 TPE. Even with these three, this team still doesn’t offer much in terms of offensive potential. The third line has an average TPE of 107, which just doesn’t keep up with the depth of the top teams. 5. World After failing to secure a medal in S70, Team World looks to be the biggest underdog in S71. Strength - Forwards With five forwards above 200 TPE, Team World’s offence really isn’t too bad. They could end up giving teams a run for their money with their scoring, but they don’t have much to fall back on if they struggle. Aleelee Kiak and Pengu are the biggest factors at play here, but they do have some quality support. There isn’t a VHL player in this whole team though, so that lack of star power could hurt them as well. Weakness - Defense The unit of forwards didn’t look out of place in this tournament at all, but that doesn’t apply to the defence. Half of the defence is below 100 TPE, and Bobby Wyman is just slightly over it. These aren’t bad prospects at all, they just haven’t developed to the level of their competition yet. However, Latrell Mitchell is a clear bright spot with 233 TPE, and impressive numbers in the VHLM this season. If he can do the heavy lifting on the back end, maybe Canada will do better than expected. Good luck to each team, their general managers and their players. It will be an exciting tournament, so make sure to keep up as it progresses with daily updates here on VSN! 1. Us, Moscow, Vancouver and Calgary. 2. I’d say Roque Davis. 3. I’m not really sure, maybe Vancouver cause they’re in first right now. 4. A fan tried to jump the glass a few weeks back, so idk if you’d call that an interaction, but it was definitely memorable. 5. Honestly I would just try not to mess anything up lol. 6. Hello everyone, and welcome back to another draft profiles article. I have a bit of an announcement, though it's not anything crazy. As some of you may know, I did a video last season as a draft promo that was pretty well received, and I've decided I'd like to make a second one for this season's draft class. It's already in the works, and you can expect it close to the draft. Nothing else, just figured I'd let you guys know. Anyways, let's get into the actual article. 17 players were created last week. Alex Letang earned the most TPE in the draft class for the second consecutive week, with 25. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing [-] SS Hornet [-] Robin Winter [-] Gino DiGiannatonio [-] Valtteri Vaakanainen [-] Latrell Mitchell [-] General Zod [-] Randy Marsh [-] Andrew Su [-] Jungkok [-] Alex Letang [New] DeFenz Mann [1] Remy Moreau Newly Qualified / Requalified Riley Knight Gee Arthur Dayne Michael Hall Chance Rust Barry Bonds Joseph Gainer James Rose Johny Mejias Pietro Angellini Alek Andreshnikov Newly Unqualified None [10] - Chris Hylands [8] - Michael Mac [8] - Gregg Stallion RISER OF THE WEEK Michael Mac - RW - 84 TPE Now, it is pretty early to cover Michael Mac while he's in just his third week since creating, but all the risers this week are newer players, so I chose him because he seems to be the most promising of the bunch so far. He has started off his career with two straight 20 TPE weeks, and has 14 so far this week. To date, he has earned every possible capped TPE as well, which is a very promising sign. With such a small sample size, he will still have to prove that he will stay consistent over time, though he has done everything right so far. In terms of play style, he has the tools of a shoot-first winger, yet his playmaking has prevailed up to this point, with his assist total doubling his goals. I see a high upside pick here as of right now, and time will only tell if that narrative stays alive. DeFenz Mann and Alex Letang hit 100 TPE last week. Andrew Su, Robin Winter, Jungkok and Gino DiGiannantonio hit 30 goals this week. ACHIEVEMENT CENTRE’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK SS Hornet - C - 274 TPE The first player to hit the VHLM's TPA limit of 250 among all S72 players, SS Hornet is a can't-miss prospect who I have ranked as the top player in this draft. The young Canadian has a good scoring forward build that will only get better once he is free to use the TPE that he currently has banked. He hasn't missed one banked TPE in eight weeks now, and has never had below 15 TPE in any of those weeks. McWolf is an active member in multiple sim leagues, and is a VHLM GM here. The only negative I can find here is that he seems to be trending down in terms of stats right now, though that can all turn around with a couple of good sims. This is undoubtedly a superstar in the making, and whoever lands him in the draft will be jumping with joy. Welcome everybody, to the second installment of The Stars Of Tomorrow. I also have a Draft Profiles article coming out later tonight, so be sure to look out for that. If this is your first time reading one of these, we look at two players coming to the VHL who haven't yet been created. I'm out of confirmed players after this article, so if you know the name and build of your next VHL player, please reach out to me through PM and I can include them in this series. You do not need to be near retirement. With that being said, let's take a look at our next two players! JACKSON PHILLIEFAN User: @Philliefan Current player: Jagger Philliefan (1037 TPE, S64) Philliefan’s second player, Jackson Philliefan, will likely be coming to the VHLM in the near future. His older brother Jagger currently plays in Riga, and has had a very successful career, hoisting both the Founder’s and Continental Cup. Jagger has always been a great defenseman in transition, moving the puck up the ice quickly and efficiently. Because of this, his assists and defensive numbers have generally been excellent. Although Jackson and Jagger share the defensive position, Jackson’s play style is not quite the same as his brother’s. Jackson has a powerful shot from the point that makes for an effective powerplay quarterback. While his defensive numbers may not end up being as impressive as Jagger’s, his offensive upside is elite, and will almost surely have more success in that regard. This is a player to watch out for sooner rather than later, and one with much potential. J.L. GUNNAR User: @Big Mac Current player: Sigard Gunnar (717 TPE, S68) Another brother of a current VHL player, JL Gunnar is a smaller defenseman with exceptional skating ability and vision. These attributes make him a constant threat with and without the puck, seeing plays before they happen and executing at top speed. JL frequently pulls off deceptive moves and passes which most people can’t even see coming from the stands. Like Jackson Philliefan, he would be a great powerplay quarterback, but for his vision rather than his shot. Defensively, Gunnar is still above average because of his anticipation of plays that are about to happen. He breaks up plays often, and his skating makes for a viable breakout option if no forwards are available. With defensemen becoming more and more relied on for playmaking, JL Gunnar will definitely be a highly coveted prospect. Two players to watch for sure, and I'm excited to see what's in store for both of these players. If defense is already a strong position in the league, the future only looks brighter with Philliefan, Gunnar and the previously covered Adrienne.

VHL Award Tracker Preview of The S71 Award Races Welcome everyone, to this season’s first VHL Award Tracker. Last week we took a look at the potential candidates for the VHLM awards, and this week we shift our focus to the VHL. Being 30 games into the season, we should have a general idea of the contenders for each award, though late risers and fallers are sure to impact the race down the road as well. Also, make sure to check out the wide variety of content here at VSN. There are in-depth weekly updates for both the VHL and VHLM, a great podcast, and daily WJC coverage when it starts up, among other informative articles. Check out our latest instalments here: | VSN Radio | VHL Weekly | VHLM Weekly | Deep Rewind | Mike Szatkowski Trophy Awarded to the player with the most points at the end of the season, the race for the Mike Szatkowski Trophy is headlined by Seattle forward Ambrose Stark with 43 points in 30 games. Not too far behind is Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who was only a point away from this title two seasons ago. He currently sits at 40 points. With 36 points each, Julius Freeman and Tyler Barabash Jr have some catching up to do if they want to win the Szatkowski, though it is still very much a possibility that either of them takes it home. Worth mentioning is that both Julius Freeman and Hunter Hearst Helmsley play for Vancouver, so their talents could be mutually beneficial to each other’s point totals. Kevin Brooks Trophy The Kevin Brooks Trophy is awarded to the player with the most goals at the end of the season, and the top candidate right now is once again Ambrose Stark, with 20 goals. Julius Freeman only trails by 1 goal, with 19 to his name. Freeman is also only one season removed from a Brooks Trophy and has had 30 or more goals in each of his past 4 full seasons. Another forward from Seattle, Scott Greene, is close as well with 18 goals. Alexander Beketov Trophy An award dominated by defensemen, the Alexander Beketov Trophy is given to the player who finishes with the most assists on the season. Out of the top 10 players in assists 30 games in, only two of them are forwards. The leader of the pack at the moment is Hulk Hogan, with 31 assists. In the second place, and the only other player to have an assist per game so far this season is Cinnamon Block. She has an even 30 assists in 30 games played. The top forward, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, has 28, only 3 behind Hogan. Not to be dismissed is Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen, who is a constant threat for this award. He is only 4 assists behind and won this award last season after almost doing so the season prior as well. This award has many legitimate candidates, and it will be an interesting one to keep an eye on. Alexander Valiq Trophy Given to the league’s top offensive defenseman, the Alexander Valiq candidates are very similar to those of the Beketov. Hulk Hogan and Cinnamon Block lead the way in points with 34 each, a 5 point lead over the rest of the pack. Hogan has changed his playstyle a lot recently, becoming a more skill-based player, and it is paying off nicely for him up to this point. The first overall pick of the S69 Draft, Block has had increasing point totals every season since entering the VHL, and this season looks to be no different. Trying to make up ground is star defenseman Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen, as he is tied for third place at the moment. The pair of Lincoln Tate and Apollo Hackett could also find themselves at the top if they can put together a bit of a streak. Jake Wylde Trophy Opposite of the Valiq Trophy, the Jake Wylde Trophy is awarded to the league’s best defensive defenseman. This award is much harder to track because it is harder to quantify defence. The league’s top offensive defenseman can be judged by their points, but the top defensive defenseman has to be decided by multiple factors, being shots blocked, hits, and plus-minus. Riga defenseman Lincoln Tate could be a prevalent candidate for this award, with his +14 rating, 58 shots blocked and 90 hits. Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen also has an impressive +8 rating, 64 shots blocked and 69 hits. Inactive defenseman Boone Jenton has had a very productive start as well, although his 309 TPE doesn’t suggest that he will be a major threat down the road. Lastly, another Riga defenseman, Apollo Hackett, has a +12 rating, 58 shots blocked and 84 hits. These names look to be the main competition so far, but it is still early enough that someone else could pull away with the lead. Sterling Labatte Trophy Now we get to the most important Trophy for VHL defensemen, the Sterling Labatte Trophy. Awarded to the top defenseman in the league, both the qualifications for the Vaiq and Wylde trophies are considered to decide on one winner. Hulk Hogan and Cinnamon Block are sure to be in the race due to their unmatched offensive production, while not sacrificing their defensive game as well. Perhaps the favourite for the award up to this point is none other than the winner of this trophy for the past three consecutive seasons, Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen. His 29 points, 64 shot blocks and 69 hits really stand out in terms of versatility, and his reputation as a three-time winner would lead me to believe he very well may have number four. Also in the conversation are the pair from Riga, Apollo Hackett and Lincoln Tate. Their offensive and defensive consistency really helps their cases, and either of them could win it as well. Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy The Christian Stolzchweiger Trophy is awarded to the top rookie in the VHL, and this season’s race has contenders from each position. Goalies Jacques Lafontaine and Jaxx Hextall have been starters for their respective teams, and Lafontaine actually has the most wins in the entire league. Hextall does have the advantage in save percentage though, which could sway some voters in his favour. Defenseman Roque Davis has put together a very solid rookie campaign fresh after being selected 2nd overall in the draft. He has 21 points, 49 shots blocked, and 44 hits, which are very impressive for a rookie defenseman, especially on a weaker team. Two forwards lead the way in scoring, as Ola Vikingstad and Kyl Oferson each have 23 points. Oferson has a slight advantage in goals, with 11 over Vikingstad’s 10. A mere 1 point behind them is Thomas Landry II, who also has a remarkable 104 hits, good for ninth in the league. This will be a tight race and a very interesting one to follow. Dustin Funk Trophy Awarded to the league’s most improved player, the Dustin Funk Trophy race is one that is always fun to watch. This season’s contenders include the previously mentioned Cinnamon Block, who has jumped from 46 points last season to an 82 point pace, going from very good defenseman to a Labatte candidate. Moscow defenseman Oskar Lagesson has already doubled his S70 point total, sitting at 22 points in 30 games after last season’s 10 in 72 games. This puts him at a 53 point pace, very solid for a sophomore defender. Wranglers forward Sigard Gunnar should have a chance as well with his 67 point pace over his S70 point total of 37. New York Center Keven Foreskin has had an incredible bounce-back season, going from 26 points to a 70 point pace. He will be a real threat if he keeps up this pace. Scott Boulet Trophy Given to the league’s best two-way forward, the Scott Boulet Trophy is a bit strange in its criteria, which makes it seemingly for the league’s best power forward. Scott Greene of the Bears has 33 points to pair with his 128 hits, second in the league in that regard. Hunter Hearst Helmsley boasts a nice statline of 40 points with his 124 hits, and he could quite possibly take it home as well. Since Greene has the edge in shots blocked, with 14 over HHH’s 8, I would give him the edge for the trophy as well up to this point. Greg Clegane and Aidan Shaw Trophies Led currently by a backup, the Greg Clegane Trophy is given to the goalie with the lowest goals-against average. While Owen May, in his second season ever as a backup, leads the way with a 0.86 GAA, that is simply not maintainable, and I expect that number to drop eventually. The other half of this section, the Aidan Shaw Trophy is awarded to the league’s top goalie. Now, the reason these two trophies are paired together is that their favourites are almost identical every season. And other than May as a possible contender for the Clegane, that is the case this season as well. There are three goalies who are above the rest right now, being Malmo’s Michael Johnson, Prague’s Brick Wahl and newly acquired Greg Eagles for Riga. Johnson has the advantage in save percentage with a very good .932. The one with the edge for the Clegane is Wahl, who has a 1.93 GAA, and Eagles is within striking distance of taking the lead in either of these categories. Raymond Bernard of Moscow could also find himself at the top with a good stretch of games as well. Scotty Campbell and Brett Slobodzian Trophies These two can also be talked about together since MVP and most outstanding player mean close to the same thing. I would say Ambrose Stark has a good chance because the lead in both points and goals is a great thing to have on your side. Hunter Hearst Helmsley should have a shot too because he is close to the points lead while also being a Scott Boulet candidate. I would say the most likely candidate among defensemen would be last season’s Slobodzian winner, Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen, with his impressive offensive and defensive numbers. I don’t think any goalies have pulled away yet, though any of the Shaw candidates I mentioned could at any given moment. This is the most coveted individual award, and it should be a great race to follow. With the season not even halfway done, some of these candidates will likely fall out of contention, and others that I never mentioned will step it up. These awards will all be fun to keep track of, and we will return to them in a few weeks. Good luck to everyone who hopes to win one, whether you’re in contention now or not. Well, we're back in the VHL.com Articles section, and we're here to stay. 3/29 was a busy week in terms of new players, so let's just get straight to it. 44 players were created last week. Alex Letang earned the most TPE in the draft class last week, with 26. Lucas Brandt was traded to Halifax last week. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing [-] SS Hornet [-] Robin Winter [-] Gino DiGiannatonio [-] Valtteri Vaakanainen [-] Latrell Mitchell [1] General Zod [1] Randy Marsh [1] Andrew Su [1] Jungkok [New] Alex Letang [1] Remy Moreau [2] Zamboni Driver Newly Qualified / Requalified Lucas Brandt Timothy Brown John Poremba Michael Mac Gregg Stallion Taylor Johansen Joe Exotic Thomas Moore Liam Flaten Larry Butz Scoot Burbs Elijah Flynn Keith Krestanovich John Brewitt Chris Hylands Brody Neufeld Klaus Scrungledorf Newly Unqualified None [4] - Spencer Elsby [3] - Alex Letang [1] - General Zod RISER OF THE WEEK General Zod - D - 173 TPE Currently my sixth ranked prospect, General Zod is a defensive defenseman who also excels in transitioning the puck quickly up the ice. His 41 hits in just 17 games showcases his physical play style, and his 17 assists are a result of his puck moving ability. His TPE earning has been very consistent, claiming 69 of a possible 72 capped TPE so far, as well as never dipping below 13 TPE in any given week to date. Zod has risen this week because of his consistency, and that is something a VHL GM is glad to see in a prospect of his caliber. I look forward to seeing more from the American defenseman, and there's no doubt he's one of the best prospects in the S72 draft class as of now. [21] - Connor Tanner [18] - Fauske Berbatov [18] - Hank McKill A bit of a new look for the numbers. I wanted to track the movement up and down the top 10 in the major stat categories, so I made it into a spreadsheet, and that made the table look a bit different. Remy Moreau hit 100 TPE last week. ACHIEVEMENT CENTRE’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK Robin Winter - LW - 230 TPE Left winger Robin Winter has been a must-see prospect since I started covering this draft, ranking as the second best player in every single week so far. That has been well-deserved, as Winter is a future VHL superstar. His build is very well put together, being a good skater, a responsible defensive player, and above all, a deadly scorer. This comes together as a package that is difficult to deal with for other teams, and a big reason why he has put up a staggering 1.88 P/GP pace so far in S71. The American forward can assemble this effective build because of his remarkable TPE earning. He has not missed one capped TPE to date, and has put up under 20 only one time in his six full weeks. It's obvious that any team would be thrilled to land a player like Winter. Players Covered Part 1: Mitchell / Marsh Part 2: Letang / Driver Part 3: Zod / Winter

VHLM Award Tracker Preview of the S71 VHLM Award Races Hello everyone, welcome back for another season of VHL/VHLM Award Tracker. With McWolf stepping down from his previous role with VSN, I’ll be the one continuing the series. I hope I do his work justice, and I will say I’m excited to follow the awards for both leagues this season. That being said, if you aren’t familiar with this series, we will be looking at each individual award in either the VHL or VHLM and the favourites to win them when the season is all over. Today’s focus is the VHLM. With eight or nine games in the books for each team so far, the results are far from final, but certain factors will help us in distinguishing a hot streak from a maintainable pace. Ethan Osborne Trophy First off, we have the Ethan Osborne Trophy, awarded to the player who finishes with the most points in the VHLM. So far this season, a duo in Ottawa has separated themselves a bit from the rest, being a respective 10 and 6 points ahead of anyone else. This duo consists of the league leader in points, Adam Syreck, with 32 points, as well as the second-place Richard Penisson, with 28. Behind them sits Alex Bridges, who has already maxed out in TPA. He is one of only five to do so this early in the season, and it has led to an impressive start for him, sitting at 22 points. In terms of the new and rapidly improving S72 class, there are a couple of players who are not far behind and will only get better over time. Robin Winter and Andrew Su currently each have 20 points, which leads their draft class by 6 at the moment. Alexander Chershenko Trophy Next up is the Alexander Chershenko Trophy, given to the player who finishes with the most goals in that given season. We have yet to see anyone really pull away with the lead, but the previously mentioned Richard Penisson does have a 2 goal lead over anyone else so far. Ike Bennett and Adam Syreck place tied for second to this point, with 12 goals to Penisson’s 14. Both of these players are also bound to have great seasons, so I wouldn’t be surprised if any of the three take it home. I would also like to mention two players who lead the league in scoring, but not statistically. What I mean is that both of these players have a 90 rating in the scoring attribute, which is something no one else in the league tops right now. This makes these players threats in the race for the Chershenko, even if they aren’t atop the league leaders in goals yet. They are Aleelee Kiak, who has 11 goals so far, and SS Hornet, who has 8. All it will take is a bit of a hot streak for either of these two to pull ahead, so keep an eye on them as well. Vladimir Boomchenko Trophy The Vladimir Boomchenko Trophy is awarded to the VHLM’s leader in assists. Syreck once again leads in that category, and second place is occupied by a defenseman, Nikita Kulikovich. Syreck leads by 4, with 20 assists in comparison to Kulikovich’s 16. Close behind them are Penisson and Dick Cheezy, who also finished last season with 64 assists. Like all of the awards so far, it will depend heavily on whether Penisson and Syreck can continue on the tear they’ve been on to begin S71. Ryan Sullivan Trophy The award for the league’s top defenseman, the Ryan Sullivan Trophy has somewhat of a frontrunner so far. Nikita Kulikovich has a 7 point lead on any other VHLM defenseman, and it has not been with detriment to his defensive game either, which has been among the best. He has 25 hits and 20 shots blocked in 9 games at this point. Bo Burrows has had a great start as well though, especially physically. He leads all defensemen in hits, and places tenth among all players with his 17 shots blocked. Not to discredit his offensive game though, as he’s even top 5 in points by a defenseman. Lastly, there is Zyrok12, who leads all active defensemen in TPE, and is second in points. Defensively, his 23 hits are nice, though his 10 shots blocked should ideally rise in order to be a true contender. This race has many runners, and it will be one of the more interesting ones to watch in my opinion. Benoit Devereux Trophy Now, time to show the goalies some love. The Benoit Devereux Trophy is for the VHLM’s top goaltender. The top two contenders for the award this season have to be Joakim Bruden and Isak Sjostrom, who have both maxed out in TPA and are on good teams. Bruden is undoubtedly ahead at the moment, with the league’s only shutout, the lead in wins, and the lead in GAA and Sv% among all goalies with more than 3 games played. Zamboni Driver could have an outside chance if he keeps improving, though it’s likely between the two Swedish goalies. Matt Bentz Trophy Awarded to the league’s top two-way forward, the race for the Matt Bentz Trophy is headlined by Alex Bridges and (once again) Richard Penisson. With 22 points and 30 hits, Bridges has the edge in hits among the two. Penisson, who has 27 hits along with his 28 points carries the point lead. A dark horse for the Matt Bentz could be Ray Sheilds, who actually leads the league in hits, but is behind in terms of points, with 13 to his name. Mitch Higgins Trophy And finally, we have the VHLM’s most valuable player award, the Mitch Higgins Trophy. I’ll go position by position to try to cover all the bases in terms of potential winners. Working our way from the net out, we begin with the goalies, which I already covered with the Benoit Devereux Trophy section earlier. If a goalie were to take home the MVP, I would have my money on Bruden because of his hot start paired with the fact that he’s already at max TPA. Sjostrom is the other option, and I think a possible contender if everything goes right for him. For defence, the only one to really stick out in the early stages of this season is Nikita Kulikovich, while Zyrok12 and Bo Burrows are also possible candidates. It would require some catching up for either of the latter two defensemen to win it, but as it’s still early, it’s not too much of a stretch to see it happen. The dynamic duo who have been all over this article, Adam Syreck and Richard Penisson, are unsurprisingly each in the mix as forwards, as well as Alex Bridges. With Penisson being in the running for the Matt Bentz Trophy as well, on top of being second in points, I think I’d give him the nod if the season ended today. Obviously that’s not the case though, and plenty of other exciting prospects will be fighting for this trophy for the next 60+ games. Good luck to everyone in the M this season, and a big thanks to VSN for bringing me in to continue this series. Excited to see what this season has in store, and who ends up with all the awards when it all comes to a close. 1. We haven’t been able to score. Hopefully our offence can turn it around soon. 2. It seems to be more friendly to new users, with the difference between them and the top players decreasing. 3. Personally I really liked end of season trivia payout but I understand why they took it out. 4. Probably Of Monsters and Men, cause I have a lot of nostalgia associated with them. Since I mostly listen to rap, they’re definitely something different for me. 5. I mean I’ll always like mine cause it reminds me of game 7 against the caps last season, but other than that I’m not really sure. I'll go with your default avatar. 8. Fighting ring. I would know cause I was putting money on the fights.

After months of doing this series in the VHL.com articles section, I figured it would be a good decision to get more out of it, and post it as a media spot from this point forward. Well, it was a good decision until a few days ago when I was hired as a writer for VSN. Now, from next week on, expect to see my draft profiles back in the VHL.com articles section. This journey to the media spot section was short lived, but I'm much happier writing for VSN than getting the extra 4 TPE for these. Anyways, enough of me going off topic, let's get to the actual content. 32 players were created last week. SS Hornet earned the most TPE in the draft class for the second week in a row, with 46. Ziarie Anigbogu was traded to Philadelphia last week. Hank McKill was traded to Halifax last week. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing [-] SS Hornet [-] Robin Winter [-] Gino DiGiannatonio [-] Valtteri Vaakanainen [-] Latrell Mitchell [1] Randy Marsh [1] General Zod [1] Andrew Su [1] Jungkok [2] Zamboni Driver [-] Izzy Valencia [2] Remy Moreau Newly Qualified / Requalified Ken Fury Riley Walker Hank McKill Jay Jones Joe Jacks Nils Friedriksen Newly Unqualified None [3] - Bobby Wyman [3] - Alex Letang [2] - Zamboni Driver RISER OF THE WEEK Alex Letang - D - 85 TPE A first gen off to a blazing start in his young career, Alex Letang has been everything this title entails, earning more and more TPE with each week that passes. Obviously this trend can't last forever, but to see him go from 14, to 16, and now to 25 this week (which isn't even over, by the way) is a very encouraging sign for his potential as a player in the VHL. He's been involved on the forums, and has participated in weekly recruitment. He is also a part of the EFL, proving his interest in sim leagues. In terms of play style, he's a mobile defenseman with great vision and poise which help him in all three zones. He could improve on his offensive game more, but as a defensive defenseman, he's one to watch regardless. I think his ceiling is very high, but it is important to note that first gens are more prone to inactivity, especially with a small sample size such as his. He is also a newer member in the EFL. Letang is a prospect I really have my eye on, and I hope he becomes the player he's currently on the road to being. Andrew Su, Zamboni Driver and Izzy Valencia each hit 100 TPE last week. ACHIEVEMENT CENTRE’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK Zamboni Driver - G - 118 TPE I know how people loved the whole David Ayres thing, especially as a Hurricanes fan myself, but all I could think about while he got all the attention was that I couldn't believe no love was being shown to any of his zamboni-driving peers. A much better goalie, by the name of literally Zamboni Driver, has been emerging as one of this season's top prospects, and I haven't seen the media hyping him up nearly as much. Originally from Iceland, Driver leads this draft class in save percentage due to his balanced skillset with little to no flaws in it. He has earned 8-10 TPE steadily so far, but in his last full week, he earned a very promising 21, including 10 of 12 possible capped TPE available. Beware everyone, these Zamboni Drivers have the goalie position figured out, and it's not just Ayres. Players Covered Part 1: Mitchell / Marsh Part 2: Letang / Driver

There is a lot of talent that comes and goes from the VHLM each and every season. Following the VHLM gives people a chance to see the future of the VHL; the near future, that is. What if there was a way to see further down the road? Well, it's impossible to be able to know of all the first gens that will find their way here, or old faces making returns to the league. But there is something we can look forward to, and that is recreates. I've been asking around to players near retirement for information on their next players, and I've found a bit of success, though I don't have enough players to make this the series I envisioned so far. Ideally, "The Stars Of Tomorrow" would be a biweekly series in which I take a brief look at current users' next players, covering in each article. With my limited amount of players, that probably won't happen as of now. But that's where all of you come in. If you know the name and build type of your next player, feel free to share it with me through PM. You don't have to be near retirement, just know the previously mentioned details. I'd love to see this series do well, but if not, it is what it is. Well, without stalling any longer, let's get into it. MICAH ADRIENNE User: Poptart Current player: Finn Davison (1338 TPE, S64) Our first player is Micah Adrienne, Poptart's next player. Adrienne is a huge defenseman with an exceptional defensive mind, who can shut down his opponent's best players on a nightly basis. He is fortunate to have the physical tools that he has, because his long reach and powerful stride make him extremely frustrating to play against. His brother, Condor Adrienne, was selected 1st overall in the S68 draft by Malmo, and Micah has learned a lot from him since they were young. As of now, if I'm not mistaken, he is projected to have the full 50 carryover TPE, giving him 80 total base TPE to start out with. This will give him a headstart on most of his fellow S73 draftees, and I'm sure he will make the most of it. This season he played in the Netherlands, where he unfortunately had his season cut short due to a torn ACL. Despite this, with a full recovery, everyone should expect a very successful career from him in the VHL. NILS TALLINDER User: Patrik Tallinder Current player: Patrik Tallinder (616 TPE, S69) Nils was actually the inspiration for this series, as I just wanted to make an article about his future career in the VHL. I realized that it might be a fun idea to see the other players who have yet to be created, and so here we are. Anyways, Nils Tallinder is an exciting young center with incredible vision and puck handling abilities. He is much more physically intimidating than his oldest brother Patrik, though he doesn't have his raw scoring ability or skating. He is 6'4", and although he doesn't play a very physical game, he protects the puck very well. The Swede often makes flashy, high risk plays that are either highlights or nightmares, but as he is young, he still has plenty of time to mature. He was playing in the SuperElit this season, where he put up 14 points (5G, 9A) in 19 games as a 15 year old. It will be around a full year until we see Nils due to him only being 15 at the the moment, but until then he will be working hard to get to the VHLM. Like I said earlier in the article, I would appreciate it if anyone who has plans for their next player would reach out to me. I think it could be a fun series, but if there aren't enough players, it can't work. If there's just isn't enough people who have that planned yet, then it is what it is, and I could maybe make it a once per season thing.

1. Probably gorlab. 2. I really like .sniffuM's personally. 3. I think boxing would be cool, idk if it already has one or not. 4. I'm thinking Thor. How could you not like Thor. 6. Not necessarily players, but I was crammed in a room with the entire equipment staff one game. The tub was surprisingly comfy. 8. "I'm going to get toilet paper at the grocery store."

I’ll apply. I’ve been a guest writer for VSN before, and I write lengthy articles each week on the current draft classes. I believe my articles are well-organized and informative, and they’re something I enjoy doing. I also have a few ideas I was planning on doing for other articles this season that could maybe be of interest for VSN as well. I will say that I’m keeping the draft profiles series alive though. I think I can fit it in as a VHL.com article each week without taking away from my effort for the VSN articles. It’s just been something I’ve put too much time into to just give up on it so abruptly. Good luck to everyone applying!
