  1. Hopefully this can get us going! It’s been a rough stretch lately
  2. 2. Maybe Pengu or Ray Shields. 3. Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen has to have a pretty solid case, he’s constantly up there with the top scorers as a defensemen. 4. I think so, if they can keep up this pace for another few seasons. 5. This question reminds me too much of the hurricanes this year. The answer to both is I have no clue why their records aren’t both better, but c’est la vie I guess. 6. Got accepted into university, I guess not much else besides that. 7. I don’t really know how base TPE works.
  3. That gives me a bit more confidence that he’ll come back. We could be looking back at this article a season from now, and saying how I jumped to conclusions too quick about him and other players. Hopefully he does return, cause he showed a lot of promise! Good luck to you guys, and I can’t wait to see just how good Hextall and Magnum are in the peak of their careers.
  4. Me too, it sucks how abruptly they left. They were on the track to becoming really good players.
  5. 1 E. T. Encarnacion , TPE: 371 2 M. Lahtinen , TPE: 350 3 O. Omdahl , TPE: 312 4 J. Lafontaine , TPE: 266 5 C. Magnum , TPE: 234 Reflecting On The S70 Draft With S72 Draft eligibility opening up a few days ago, I figured now would be a good time to reflect on last season's draft, and how my predictions were for them in my draft profiles series. There have been some surprises since the draft, both good and bad. Let's get into them. Best Team Performance DISCLAIMER: This is based on who I think made the most out of all their picks, not who got the best players. That would obviously be Calgary with 3 of the first 4 picks. Helsinki Titans To put it simply, Helsinki had a fantastic draft, with just about every single one of their picks doing well for themselves thus far. Their first pick of the draft was at 8th overall, where they selected Jared Spaz. Since the draft, Spaz has earned 85 TPE, and produced at nearly a point per game for Philly this season. Spaz hasn't earned one TPE yet this week which is a bit concerning, but the week is not over yet, so no need to panick. With their second pick, they selected Kyle Andersen at 11th overall. He has earned 70 TPE since the draft, and his TPE production has been pretty inconsistent in the last month or so. Even with that said, he's never dipped below 6 TPE during that time, and he earned a very impressive 23 in one week. To me, this is a very solid pick, especially with his 72 points in Philly this season. Next up for Helsinki was Ike Bennett, drafted 17th overall. He was really the wildcard in this draft, because he joined so late and was producing quite a bit of TPE before the draft. He has panned out greatly for them so far, earning 90 TPE since the draft, and putting up 72 points on the season as well, identical to Andersen. He is definitely turning out to be a great value pick for his team. Moving on to 20th overall, they selected Vladimir Shaposhnikov. Once again, a really nice pick here. Prior to the draft, Shaposhnikov was consistently getting 6 TPE every week. Since then, he has upped his production, and hasn't even hit 6 or less TPE in any week. During this period of time, he has earned a total of 71 TPE. With their final pick in the draft, Julian Dalvao was selected at 46th overall. He went inactive for 3 weeks, but got last week's practice facility. I don't think he has much upside, but if he can keep earning practice facility he'll already be outproducing a lot of those ahead of him. TLDR: Helsinki had 5 picks in the draft, and undoubtedly got a ton of value out of each one. Worst Team Performance Toronto Legion Now, Toronto did not have a great draft in my opinion but it was definitely not out of bad management. The picks they made were all very reasonable, and what I even thought were good picks. Things really just didn't turn out the way they were supposed to so far, but there is still time to turn it around for sure. To kick off their draft, they selected Justin Graves 10th overall. To me, Graves had the potential to be a star, but his smaller sample size did make him a bit of a riskier pick. Not long after the draft, he went inactive, and hasn't earned one TPE in 3, almost 4 weeks. Next was Aleksandra Olsen at 22nd overall. She was never a high upside pick, but a team could have confidence in her sticking around because she had been there since the first week of eligibility and never gone completely inactive. So far she's been rather inconsistent, but has stayed active as expected. The very next pick, Dick Cheezy was taken by the Legion. He seemed like a fairly low risk pick, but his inactive week right before the draft didn't help in that regard. Although he never hit the goose egg again in any week, he only got practice facility for 2 straight weeks. He has followed that up with 3 weeks of 8 TPE, so that's a really positive sign. If he can keep this up, I could see him being a solid VHL player eventually. He has to be their best pick in my opinion. TLDR: Toronto made good picks than just haven't panned out for them to this point. Cheezy may be turning it around though. Steals 17 I. Bennett , TPE: 91 I actually included Bennett in my "Final Thoughts On The S70 Draft" article just after the draft had happened, and this is what I had to say: Since I already explained his situation when talking about Helsinki, I won't say too much here. It's clear to see he is a step ahead of his draft position when looking at his TPE earning. 19 A. Bridges , TPE: 97 This was a pretty great pick by Seattle, as Alex Bridges has been doing pretty well for himself since being drafted. I covered him in part 10 of my draft profiles series, and here's what I had to say on January 8th: Although Bridges didn't hold onto his job, he has maintained his consistency in earning TPE, even more than he was before. His defense has improved, which is good to see. He has had 46 TPE in his last 3 full weeks, and a total of 82 TPE since the draft. I think Seattle has a real good pick here. With Mexico City this year, he's put up a nice 69 points in 58 games so far. I think there's quite a bit of potential there for Seattle to enjoy soon enough. 20 V. Shaposhnikov , TPE: 77 Once again, I already talked about Shaposhnikov with Helsinki. He's been progressing well, no longer being limited to his usual 6 TPE per week prior to the draft. Here's just a quick graph of his TPE earning: 26 JaredN , TPE: 74 As a possible future teammate of Jared Newman, or JaredN, I really hope he's able to keep up what has been a great run of consistent TPE earning over the last 3 full weeks. When he really wants to, he can compete with some of the talent much higher than his draft position in terms of TPE earning, yet his consistency is what remains a bit of a question. If he can keep this streak going, he could end up being a massive steal for Riga. In his last 3 full weeks, he has earned an encouraging 44 TPE. For San Diego this season, he has 44 points in 59 games, with a staggering +61 as well. His build is very well-balanced, and he projects to be a solid two way center with exceptional faceoff skills and some scoring potential to top it off. Riga should be excited for what he could potentially bring to the team. 35 N. Kulikovich , TPE: 69 This is, in my opinion, the biggest steal of the draft. I thought it initially, and I still believe it. Even saying that, I didn't know how good he would turn up, which looks right now to be a very good prospect. Here's what I said in my post-draft article I mentioned earlier: Since then, he has earned 70 TPE, when many players selected before him have fallen either inactive or close to it. Davos should be thrilled with what they got at 35. Busts 6 I. Risteneen , TPE: 212 This one pains me to write. I was really excited to see Risteneen in the VHL, and I thought it was almost certain he would. He had a job as the portal news manager, and was earning high amounts of TPE weekly. There was no decline, he just seemingly disappeared. I hope he comes back soon, but I'm not sure it will happen. 10 J. Graves , TPE: 148 I thought Graves was a great pick at 10th overall, and at the time, he was. He was earning large amounts of TPE and quickly catching up to the rest of the top prospects in TPE. This turned out to be wrong, as he's been inactive for weeks now. There's always a chance he comes back though. 13 D. Wolfe , TPE: 161 After being a staple in the top 5 in the draft early on, Wolfe took a dip in TPE production, and hasn't returned to form. He has earned 0 TPE in 5 of his last 8 full weeks, and 0 total in the past 2 weeks. Hopefully he can turn it around.
  6. 5 for 5! Thanks for setting this all up, this was a cool event!
  7. I’ll try to do them soon, I’m just trying to spread out the good players so that there’s some more recognizable names in each article. If you want I can do one next week, and the other one the week after!
  8. Well, as the title suggests, I've added onto my traditional top 10 rankings, so I'd like to know what you guys think of it. Here it is! Rankings Kyl Oferson - Roque Davis - Erik Killinger - Stone Wolski - Ola Vikingstad - Thomas Landry II - Jim Bob - Uhtred - Hugh Jass - Joe Proto New Biggest Risers Ray Sheilds 20 Squirrely dan 10 Mickey Dickson 9 Biggest Fallers Kendall Rasmussen 11 Kazimir Komarov 10 Alex Burrows 9 Newly Qualified / Requalified Woody McPine Cassius Gardner Jack John Robert Buttholio Peter Louis Fuzzkins Dean Big Chungus Newly Unqualified Trey Nets Xavier Hills Hunter Harrison I should remind everyone about a few things. The rankings tend to change a lot, so someone going up or down really fast can be undone just as quick. Also, the requirements to qualify for my rankings are 40+ TPE, and an update in the past two full weeks, so for example if someone did not update in the week of 02/02 nor 02/09, they are not eligible for my rankings. If they update this week (02/16) they will be requalified in next week's rankings. This is just because I like to rank the active players in the draft, since they'll ultimately be the one's who most likely stick around. As always, I have to advertise my spreadsheet. You can find the full rankings, colour coded TPE earning, and now the difference in rankings from last week to this week along with much more. Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing Stats Name Goals Name Assists Name Points Kyl Oferson 48 Roque Davis 79 Roque Davis 102 Erik Killinger 46 Hugh Jass 70 Kyl Oferson 102 Uhtred 45 Jim Bob 58 Hugh Jass 96 Ola Vikingstad 40 Kyl Oferson 54 Ola Vikingstad 91 Thomas Landry II 36 Ola Vikingstad 51 Erik Killinger 88 Hugh Jass 26 Thomas Landry II 46 Uhtred 87 Roque Davis 23 Erik Killinger 42 Thomas Landy II 82 Adam Syreck 18 Uhtred 42 Jim Bob 70 Richard Penisson 18 Zyrok12 34 Zyrok12 42 Nicolas Konig 17 Jason Goeson 29 Richard Penisson 39 Name Save % Stone Wolski .915 Joakim Bruden .881 Hex Valentine .876 Bennett Dahl .860 Woody McPine .858 News - Roque Davis hit 300 TPE this past week. - Joe Proto and Richard Penisson each hit 100 TPE this past week. - Joe Proto earned the most TPE this past week, with 32. - 16 players were created this past week. Profiles Hex Valentine - G - 95 TPE Well, there's no more fitting time of year to talk about Hex Valentine than today! This isn't my only reason for talking about him though, as I find him a very intriguing prospect. He started off his career with 4 consecutive weeks of 6, 0, 0, and 4 TPE respectively. I didn't really think much of him at this point, but since then, he's changed my mind entirely. Those underwhelming four weeks were followed by his latest three full weeks, consisting of 16, 12, and 15 TPE. I think if he can keep this up, his already solid stats will improve, and he could end up a very promising goalie prospect for the VHL team who drafts him. Ola Vikingstad - C - 292 TPE A star in the making, Vikingstad has been one of the top S71 prospects since the beginning. Earning every single possible capped TPE so far, along with never dipping below 14 TPE in a week, this player has been remarkably consistent, which their stats also reflect. With 40 goals in 45 games, Vikingstad is proven to be a lethal scorer with a deadly shot and quick feet. Whoever lands the Swedish center will be extremely happy with what they get. Jason Goeson - D - 76 TPE A smart, poised defenseman, Goeson is able to use his speed and hockey sense to get ahead of the play on most shifts. While his skillset is more defense based, his offensive stats have been great so far with Houston. He has 37 points in 44 games, including an assist total of 29, which is top 10 among his draft class. The Canadian's TPE earning has been consistent, and improving with time so far in his young career. With two consecutive weeks of 12 TPE, he looks to have decent upside if he keeps it up this way. If he steps it up even a little bit, and keeps going that way, I could see a really good player in the makes here.
  9. 1. I think we have a shot at catching Calgary, so I’ll say third. 2. Honestly I think it’s fine the way it is. Chicago had to do the same thing in the NHL after winning those cups. 4. Probably Spyro or Rice. 5. No, this is my first sim league. I’ve thought about joining other ones since then, but I think it would be too much effort to do more than this one and still have good players. 6. Maybe Beaviss or Frostbeard. I talked to them both when I first joined to learn how everything worked, and then I haven’t talked to them since. 8. Maybe he just watches cat in the hat live action on repeat, or maybe he’s sleeping. There’s really no in between.
  10. 268 D.C. Dragons @ Riga Reign 269 Toronto Legion @ Vancouver Wolves 270 Malmo Nighthawks @ Seattle Bears 271 Helsinki Titans @ Calgary Wranglers
  11. I'm so sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences to his friends and family.

  13. Welcome back everyone! We are about half way through the season, and this draft class is looking stronger and stronger by the day. Here is my current top 10 as always: Kyl Oferson - Roque Davis - Erik Killinger - Stone Wolski - Ola Vikingstad - Thomas Landry II - Jim Bob - Uhtred 1 Hugh Jass 1 Joakim Bruden - Not much movement inside the top 10, but quite a bit in my spreadsheet, which now shows last weeks rankings and this weeks rankings: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing Stats Name Goals Name Assists Name Points Kyl Oferson 39 Roque Davis 67 Roque Davis 88 Uhtred 39 Hugh Jass 59 Kyl Oferson 87 Ola Vikingstad 36 Jim Bob 51 Hugh Jass 81 Erik Killinger 37 Kyl Oferson 48 Ola Vikingstad 77 Thomas Landry II 29 Ola Vikingstad 41 Uhtred 75 Hugh Jass 22 Thomas Landry II 41 Erik Killinger 71 Roque Davis 21 Uhtred 36 Thomas Landy II 70 Adam Syreck 17 Erik Killinger 34 Jim Bob 61 Alex Burrows 14 Zyrok12 28 Zyrok12 35 Richard Penisson 13 Joaquin Ventura 21 Alex Burrows 32 Name Save % Stone Wolski .914 Joakim Bruden .882 Hex Valentine .875 Bennett Dahl .851 Carter Fetterly .842 News - Kyl Oferson hit 300 TPE this past week. - Ola Vikingstad and Jim Bob hit the VHLM limit of 250 TPA this past week. - Uhtred and Hugh Jass hit 200 TPE this past week. - Pengu and Thomas Landry II each earned 22 TPE this past week, which was the most among draftees. Profiles Joakim Bruden - G - 186 TPE Joakim Bruden is a goalie with little to no weaknesses, and exceptional reaction speeds. He has already won an incredible 30 games in just 37 total games played this season. To say he has been the backbone for a great Ottawa team would be an understatement. The Swedish netminder has consistently earned TPE as a first gen so far, never dipping into single digits in any given week, and earning over 20 three times. There's quite a bit of potential here, if Bruden stays consistent. Joe Proto - LW - 114 TPE Proto has burst onto the scene lately, with 31, 21 and then 32 TPE his first three weeks. If he keeps this up, it's obvious that he will quickly become a top prospect in this draft, as stacked as it already seems to be. The offense has been coming a bit slowly so far, but with his TPE rising as fast as it is, his offense is sure to follow suit. He has 6 goals and 13 points in 31 games. Proto is a pretty well balanced player with good defensive and offensive instincts. I think he could become a superstar if he stays active and committed enough. Gavin Harris - D - 87 TPE A bit of an under the radar player so far in this draft class, Harris has quietly had a great start to his VHLM career. He has 17 points in 36 games with the Hounds this season as a defenseman, and more of a defensive one at that. Harris is not afraid to hit, and has very impressive defensive instincts. In terms of TPE production, he has earned 57 TPE in his first 4 weeks, which is really good for someone just starting out. If he continues like this, any VHL GM will be extremely happy to have him in their organization.
  14. You might have already seen it, but I made one of you too! Hope you like it
  15. 2. The Blues 3. Pretty sure they’re making a McDonald’s, so we can fill up on nuggs before practice. 4. Well I’ll admit I was the bad one, but Finn Davison was the good one. He doesn’t just sit between two pipes, he’s got some of his own. 5. Pre-game shit always helps. 6. Think about what move I’m gonna try, then do the exact opposite. 8. It’s rona season boys
  16. Welcome back everyone, hope the season has been nice to you all so far. I'm a little late making this, so keep in mind my rankings and news do not include this week (02/02), since people are still able to collect TPE before this week ends. You can see this on my spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing. Anyways, here are my rankings for this week: Kyl Oferson - Roque Davis - Erik Killinger - Stone Wolski 2 Ola Vikingstad 1 Thomas Landry II 1 Jim Bob - Hugh Jass - Uhtred 1 Joakim Bruden 1 Wolski takes a leap, but besides that not a whole lot of movement. Stats Name Goals Name Assists Name Points Kyl Oferson 27 Roque Davis 40 Kyl Oferson 52 Ola Vikingstad 27 Jim Bob 33 Ola Vikingstad 51 Uhtred 23 Hugh Jass 32 Roque Davis 50 Erik Killinger 19 Kyl Oferson 25 Hugh Jass 44 Adam Syreck 15 Ola Vikingstad 24 Uhtred 44 Hugh Jass 12 Thomas Landry II 22 Erik Killinger 39 Alex Burrows 12 Uhtred 21 Jim Bob 37 Roque Davis 10 Erik Killinger 20 Thomas Landy II 32 Thomas Landry II 10 Kendall Rasmussen 20 Adam Syreck 27 Nicolas Konig 9 Zyrok12 19 Alex Burrows 25 Name Save % Stone Wolski .900 Joakim Bruden .886 Hex Valentine .872 Carter Fetterly .851 Bennett Dahl .849 News - Ola Vikingstad earned a job with the recruitment team! Congrats to him. - Erik Killinger and Stone Wolski hit the VHLM TPA limit of 250 last week. - Jeff Blaze hit 100 TPE last week. - Joe Proto earned the most TPE this week, with 31. - 19 players were created last week. Profiles Erik Killinger - LW - 278 TPE My third ranked prospect, Killinger is a player with next to no weaknesses. His offensive game is dynamic and unpredictable, and his defensive game is rock solid. This has lead to a nearly two points per game start, with 39 points in 21 games, on top of his +16 rating. The left winger's TPE production has not dropped below 20 in any week, which is amazing. In addition, he is one of 4 players to have earned every single possible capped TPE since the first week of S71 eligibility. I'm sure as a GM, Peace can appreciate consistency in earning TPE, and he is definitely providing the perfect example to follow with his player. Zyrok12 - D - 76 TPE A smooth-skating two way defender, Zyrok12 seems to have the poise and precision of a surgeon on the ice. He always has his head up, and seems to make the right play every time, whether it's a shot or a pass. He has started off his career over a point per game, getting lots of opportunity with Yukon. He has earned very impressive amounts of TPE in his first two full weeks, with 17 and 19 respectively. It's good to see him applying for the Davos AGM position as well. While consistency will be the key for this new player, he is currently on the path to greatness, and I'm excited to see where he'll go from here. Adam Syreck - LW - 142 TPE Adam Syreck is a player with the tools to be a great goal scorer. By no means one dimensional, he is able to score in many different ways with his combination of skating, stickhandling and a dangerous shot that he can get off his stick in an instant. So far, he has 15 goals and 12 assists, for a total of 27 points in 22 games. What really sticks out to me though is his incredible 121 shots on net through this initial portion of the season. That means he is averaging 5.5 shots a game. With this and his scoring abilities, it is certain that Syreck will be scoring in abundance this season. His TPE earning has been somewhat inconsistent, but even his lower weeks have never dipped below 8 TPE. So while he may not be a superstar in the making as of now (this could change very quickly), he is surely a very good player bound to have success in the VHL.
  17. 1. I’m not sure, looking at our team stats nothing jumps out to me, maybe we just need to up our play a bit as a whole. 3. Probably either Canada or Finland. I’m from Canada, so it would make sense, and in terms of Finland, I’ve grown to really like it as a hurricanes fan with guys like Aho, Teravainen, Jokinen etc. 4. I mean Sweden has to be up there. Erik Karlsson, Gabriel Landeskog, Patrik Tallinder 6. I’d say Guy Sasakamoose. He’s trying to prove his dominance over the beard, but the beard does what the beard wants. 7. The Swedish DNA has to be the answer. After the game there were talks about whether I should have to wear a tinted visor, because I’m a “public health risk” to everyone who’s prone to fainting. Thankfully that discussion was dropped. 8. Honestly I’d like to see Thorny Underyew (I think that’s how it’s spelt) make a comeback, cause he was pretty highly touted when I first joined. I remember thinking he would be really good based on his VHLM stats.
  18. I’m just gonna copy and paste what I said in part 1 like @TheLastOlympian07, since I think it still stands and idk if you saw it. I think the reason more attention goes to celebrities deaths is that certain people are affected personally by certain celebrities. Of course a lot of people won’t see the death of Kobe as different than anyone else, but for others his death will bring back memories of trying to be like him in their driveway, or watching his most memorable games. Memories that mean something to those people. And when they see his unfortunate passing, it’s shocking and upsetting. Is it irrational to value his death as more than the others on the helicopter? Yes. But it’s still bound to happen because he affected so many people, and they have those fond memories of him, even if they’ve never met. I do think people shouldn’t expect you to care like they do, and I agree with you on that. But to me, it’s kinda disrespectful to put out an unprompted status update (correct me if there was something that led to that) that says something along the lines of “am I the only one who doesn’t give a fuck that Kobe died?” It’s okay to not care, because Kobe didn’t affect you, and to be honest I haven’t been affected by him or his death much either. It’s a whole other thing to just bring it up with no reason behind it, when you could just let the situation calm down with time. To me that’s just disrespectful to the people who were actually affected by his death, and you’re just looking for a reaction from them. Not trying to start an argument, just throwing my opinion into the mix. In short, it’s alright not to care, whether that’s rational or not, since we hear about death all the time. But it’s best to let the situation play itself out instead of making sure everyone knows how little you care. It can be frustrating when all you see is about something you don’t really care about, but you just gotta respect that some people care a lot about it, and let time pass until people move on.
