Well Oskars Harumpf first season, albeit a partial one, has come to an end. Him and the Saskatoon Wild got bumped from the playoffs in the 2nd round in 7 games vs Ottawa. It was a hard fought battle and at times it looked like Saskatoon would emerge victorious, but it was not meant to be. Oskars is happy with his teams performance and everyone left it all out on the ice. He was also happy with his personal performance as he put up 10 points in 14 games, after putting up just 16 in 46 during the regular season. Harumpf really took his game to the next level when it mattered most and that bodes well for his futre. He now looks to the VHL Draft and VHLM dispersal draft where he will more than likely find 2 new homes. Harumpf would love to stay with the Wild in the VHLM, but it sounds like they may not get a chance at him in the draft unless they trade up. Never say never, so for now Harumpf wil hold out some hope although he sees the writing on the wall. He cannot say enough great things about the Saskatoon Wild organization. He enjoyed his time there tremendously and will always consider himself a Saskatoon Wild player. -Thanks

SASKATOON WINS!!! Jarome Iginla and Oskars Harumpf embrace afer scoring the opening goal in game 7, linemate Ashton Galbraith looks on. The trio put up 8 points in a game 7 victory! Wow, what a series between the Saskatoon Wild and the Brampton Blades! It ook 7 games, but eventually we found a winner as the Saskatoon Wild won the final 2 games of the series, including game 7 on the road to send the Blades packing. This series started off looking like the Wild were going to run away with it, they got out to a 2 game lead, winning both games on the road. However, Brampton won the next 2 in Saskatoon's barn to tie the series at 2-2. Then Brampton won game 5 in Saskatoon to put the Wild on the brink of elimination. Game 6 was gut check time for Saskatoon as they faced elimination on home ice. They best players stepped up as deadline aquisition Kez Kincaid had 3 points along with linemate Rami Jakobsen and goalie Gunnar Skovsgard posted a shutout. These team leaders really stepped up when it mattered most and deserve a lot of credit for their great performances. Saskatoon won the game 3-0 and were looking good heading into game 7. On to game 7 in Brampton to decide our series winner. Little Oskars Harumpf opened the scoring just 56 seconds in on the powerplay from Iginla and Galbraith. That line has been dynamite in the series and were just getting started in this game. The Blades would tie it up though a few minutes later, but Saskatoon took a 2-1 lead to end period. The Harumpf-Iginla-Galbraith line would strike again in the 2nd period to put Saskatoon up 3-1. Brampton would make it 3-2 going into the 3rd. Then Harumpf and Galbraith set up Joshua Rubin for his 1st goal of the playoffs to make it 4-2 and that's how this one would end. 8 points combined for he Harumpf-Iginla-Galbraith line and Saskatoon is moving on to the conference finals! Saskatoon winning the last 2 games of the series in exciting fashion means they'll have a lot of confidence headed into the next round. Everyone is playing well and this team has a great chance to win it all. Should be another great series against Ottawa. The Lynx have a lot of good players and the teams know each other well, having played countless times in the regular season. Some would say Ottawa has more superstars, but Saskatoon has a few stars of their own. With Saskatoon coming off an exciting series win and Ottawa not having played a game in a week, Saskatoon should have the momentum in game 1. An opening game victory on the road woud put them in great position to win this series and move on to the championship. One thing at the time though. Saskatoon will enjoy this series win tonight, then get back to work tomorrow. They know they can beat anyone if they play as a team and trust each other. They also know they are never out of a series. Anything can happen in the playoffs! 525 Words

Harumpf-Iginla-Galbraith, 8 points combined in game 7!!! Good series, Blades.

...of losing the series? Hard to believe after they stormed out to a 2-0 series lead on the road, but they've now dropped 3 in a row including a double overtime heart breaker in game 5. Many people are shocked by the fact that the Blades not only tied the series but then went up a game after being down 2-0 with both losses at home. The Wild played well in game 3, but dropped that one 6-5. Then they had a complete meltdown in game 4, only taking 9 shots on goal compared to 43 by the Blades. Game 5 was the rubber match and they played a great game, outshooting the Blades 39-34, but they could not get the go ahead goal. Game 5 ended in double overtime and was a heart breaking defeat for the Wild. They now return home for game 6 and it's a must win situation. They know they can beat this team and win back to back games, so while the double OT loss hurts, they are confident they can come back and win this series. They have an awesome goalie, great defense and 2 killer forward lines that are all capable of stepping up. The time is now and the Saskatoon Wild better bring their A game or they will have a disappointing end to a great season.

High Fives all around for Oskars Harumpf! Everyone congratulates Harumpf on a strong season. Oskars Harumpf, the diminutive Danish scoring star for the Saskatoon Wild turned in a solid season and proved he can hold his own in the VHLM. Harumpf finished the year as top 2 center and ended up with 16 points in 43 games. He got hot down the stretch, scoring 8 points in the final 11 games. Finally starting to score at near a point per game pace, Oskars is looking like he could become an exceptional player in this league. His playmaking was evident by his 12 assists compared to 4 goals. At a 3 to 1 ratio, he projects out to being an incredible set up man going forward. He also seems to be easy to play with as he had great chemistry with Iginla and Galbraith, that trio was on fire down the stretch for the Wild. Harumpf was also excellent in the face off circle, finishing the season at 49% and he improved that 8% over the final 11 games. Which means that Harumpf was well over 50% in many of those games. His face off prowess seems to be another strong area of his game. Harumpf is also contributing in other areas besides scoring and setting up his linemates for goals. His hitting has been very impressive and he's proven to be solid defensively, which often times is a weakness in a young players game. Not Harumpf though, as he's already seemed to grip the defensive aspect of the game. He finished with a +9 rating and also logged some penalty killing time. It's great to see the coaching staff having that kind of confidence in him as a player. It speaks volumes about his ability and character. He also proved to be rather gritty as he racked up 51 hits and 16 penalty minutes in 43 games. Harumpf does not shy away from contact and despite his short stature, just 5'5", his tremendous body weight makes up for it. At 250 pounds he's incredibly stout and strong on his skates, he's nearly impossible to move in front of the net and is a nightmare in the corners. He can just get low and sneak out on you. It's dangerous. Harumpf has proven to be very physical this season, throwing more than a hit per game is a good sign for a player that has no practice hours into hitting yet. It may just be a natural strength of his game due to his unique size. Regardless, he is killing people out there and a physical playmaking center who's good on draws and responsible defensively is what every team dreams of. Harumpf will now look to the playoffs and helping the Saskatoon Wild advance to the finals. The wild have a great chance to win the championship and Harumpf will likely be a big part of it. If he can continue his excellent play of late into the playoffs, the Wild will have a great chance to win. He'll likely be leaned on heavily for draws along with Kez Kincaid and the two should be strong down the middle for Saskatoon. Harumpf's strong finish to a solid season and projection as a future high level playmaker has many people excited around the league. High fives all around! 550 Words.

Oskars Harumpf Forward Hits Points
-
Well apparently the answer is Yes. Despite being only 5'5" Oskars Harumpf has become quite the hitter. in 37 games he has 47 hits. Not bad for a diminutive playmaker who was thought to possibly be a physical liablity at this level. So far Harumpf has been surprisingly physical, throwing more than a hit per game. He's been using his 250 pound frame to his advantage and is kind of a like a bowling ball on the ice. Harumpf has been killing people on the forecheck in the corners. With his weight and speed combination, he's not someone you want coming in on you if you're a defenseman going into the corner for a loose puck. He obviously has a low center of gravity and when he hits you, you'll remember it. It should be noted that Harumpf is doing all this with literally no points put into checking. It's just his natural ability based off his weight that is allowing him to throw the body at a pretty good clip. In fact, he has more hits in 37 games that many other taller players on the Wild who have played 60+ games. This proves that weight, not height is the contributing factor to checking in this league. Oskars Harumpf has just found anothe edge to his game. The future is looking bright.

- Rookie Profile - Name: Oskars Harumpf Position: Center Number: 17 Height: 5'5" Weight: 250 lbs Shoots: Left Born: Middelfart, Denmark Current Team: Saskatoon Wild - VHLM Oskars Harumpf is a rookie out of the Danish Premier League who's come to the VHL to pursue his dream of playing hockey at the highest level. His journey up to this point has been exciting and challenging. The diminutive playmaker has excelled at every level and is a world class talent. He's currently playing in the VHLM for the Saskatoon Wild as he awaits the S40 VHL Draft and subsequent VHLM Dispersal Draft. Harumpf has laced them up for 30 games now for the Wild and has played some great hockey. His potential is really what has GM's excited around the league though. As a rookie coming in mid-season, he's put in a tremendous amount of practice hours and is starting to show signs of the super stardom he was known for back in Denmark. Harumpf is quickly on his way to becoming a star in the VHLM. He's a unique player with a versatile skill set. Let's take a look at his hockey background, strengths and weakness. Background: As mentioned earlier in this piece and in numerous other media around the league, Harumpf is from Middelfart Denmark and yes that is a real town name. He grew up small and was always the shortest player on the team, but he was always stocky and strong. He grew up dominating his opponents with speed and puck skills. Harumpf has excellent hands and in youth hockey was an absolute wizard. Eventually he played with older players in Danish Prep School and then moved onto the Metal Ligaen, which is the highest level of professional hockey in Denmark. He dominated the competition all the way through youth hockey and into the pros. Let's take a quick look at his stats growing up and playing in Denmark. Youth Hockey: Middelfart Mighty Mite Program: 480 points in 80 games. High School: Middelfart Academy Prep: 526 points in 160 games. Danish Premier League: Herning Blue Fox: 309 points in 120 games. It's obvious that Oskars Harumpf is a special talent, even more so when you think about him putting up those numbers as the shortest player on the team. His unique blend of speed, hands, hockey IQ and low center of gravity make him almost an unstoppable force. Let's take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of his game. Strengths: Speed: Harumpf's has tremendous speed and acceleration. Having such short compact legs, he's able to explode into his stride a really pull away from defenders. Likewise, he is able to get back into the play quickly and help support his defenders. Being so short, it helps to be elusive and Harumpf has to be fast to survive in the big leagues. Having exceptional speed is a must and Harumpf excels in all areas of skating. Hands: Harumpf's creativity with the puck is off the charts. His hockey IQ is truly something special. He's one of the rare talents that can create something out of nothing and before you know it he's generated a scoring chance. His linemates are sometimes surprised to get the puck, so it takes a little bit of time to get use to playing with Oskars as your center. His stick handling will mesmerize you and you have to always be ready to shoot. Oskars is a pass first player and loves to set up goals, it's his god given talent and he's exceptional at it. Determination: Always being the shortest player on the team, Oskars has dealt with a lot of adversity throughout his playing career. His strong will and determination have allowed him to not only overcome odds but set records in the process. He is one of the most determined players you will ever meet. He's something special. Weakness: Height: Obviously being 5'5" in a league of players averaging around 6 feet is definitely not ideal. Often times Oskars finds himself outmatched with upper body strength in the corner. He's able to hold his ground and dig in by using his 250 pound frame, but can get muscled off a puck by a taller player with more torque. Not to mention a longer reach. Reach: This is an area where Oskars sometimes loses battles. Those times when a loose puck is just inches away and he just can't get to it. It happens to all players, but just more often with Oskars. Passes will sometimes be just off the end of his stick or just out of his reach for an attempted clear. It's tough, but his speed usually gets him to where he needs to be. Upper Body Strength: Oskars may be 250 pounds but 180 of that is probably in his lower body. He's has a strong torso, chest and shoulders but he's only 17 years old. His upper body is still a work in progress. He does not have the strength of a grown man yet, but it's something he's working on. He was able to get by easily in the Danish league by using his skating and lower body strength while hanging in there with smaller European players. Now coming to the VHLM the players are generally bigger and stronger. Oskars is a step behind in his upper body strength but there is a lot of room for improvement, which can be seen as a possibly a positive. VHLM: So how has this all translated to the VHLM? Well in 30 games it has not been all rainbows and fairy tales for Harumpf. He's played well but is still finding his game in this new league. His stats through 30 games are not eye popping, but are solid and his team has been winning. He's managed the following stat line: 30GP: 4g, 4a, 8pts, +4, 12pims, 33hits, 25shots, 3PP, 45% FOW Not quite ready for the hall of fame, but one thing that has been impressive with all this talk about his size, he's actually thrown the body at a good rate. More than a hit per game from a 5'5" center is pretty impressive. Perhaps that will be an area of his game that surprises people. As for points, until recently Harumpf was being tested in lower lines to see if he was the real deal. He's now worked his way up to the 2nd line and 1st powerplay unit, where his skills and creativity have begun to showcase themselves. 3 points in the last 3 games and it's looking like this rookie is about to take off. The Diminutive Danish Scoring Sensation, Oskars Harumpf is well on his way to becoming a future star in the VHLM and eventually the VHL. He has all the tools needed to become an exceptional player and is one of the most unique talents to come along in quite some time. 1,000+ Words.

VHLM PREDICT THE SCORE (SEASON 39 WEEK 6)
Harumpf replied to HawksFan19's topic in VHLM Fantasy Zone
4-1 Wild -
Harumpf Comes Alive!!! Oskars Haurmpf celebrates his 4th goal of the season. It's been a slow start for Harumpf so far in the VHLM. In 25 games he had just 4 points, but all of a sudden he has caught fire! In the last 2 games harumpf has 3 points! Nearly equalling his total from the first 25 games, he now has 7 points in 27 games. 3 of those have come on the powerplay, which is a testament to his offensive ability. Harumpf also had the first multi-point game of his career recently, when he put up 2 points, 1 goal, 1 assist against the Blades. The monumental game was really special for harumpf after working so hard since joining the league just a few weeks ago. It's a great feeling to see all that hard work come together and get results on the ice. So what can we attribute Harumpf's new found success to? There's a couple of things, but Skating and getting more ice time with quality players are probably the biggest 2 reasons. Harumpf has been working exclusively on his skating over the last week in an effort to get himself involved in the play more. The feeling was that skating speed would allow him to create more offense when he has the puck by getting separation. Also an increase in speed will have him more involved defensively and he'll be able to get to more loose pucks and generate scoring chances for his teammates. So far so good as Harumpf's 3 points in the last 2 games are a direct result of his improved skating ability and overall speed. When you're a smaller player in terms of height, you need to be fast to gain an edge over your opponents. Harumpf seems to have realized that and is now one of the faster skaters on Saskatoon. His speed and playmaking ability should be a big help to the team down the stretch. Harumpf has also benefited greatly from a move to the 2nd line center position. He's been paired with Hunter and Iginla. Both of these guys are great players. Iginla is a scorer and Hunter is a well rounded two way forward. Both are capable of generating offense and finishing on Harumpf's sweet set up passes. The line has been working hard in practice and improving every week, They are on the cusp of becoming a very effective line. As with all new lines, they will struggle to find consistency, but with roughly 15 games left in the season, they should be able to come together and get hot by the time playoffs roll around. The line is hungry and eager to put up points while helping Saskatoon try and win the division. Oskars Harumpf is finally starting to get it. He's finally realized what he needs to do in order to be an effective player in the VHLM. With this knowledge coupled with quality linemates, he could really take off down the stretch for the Wild. This would go a long way in helping them take over the division lead and set the tone for the playoffs. Watch out for Oskars Harumpf and his new found confidence on the ice. 532 words.
