  3. That's right. 2 points in a recent game, the first multi-point game of his career and Oskars Harumpf has become a scoring machine. I know what you're thinking, no big deal, it's only 2 points. Well little Oskars Harumpf had just 4 points through his first 25 games so getting half of that in just 1 game is a virtual scoring outburst. He also picked up a point in the previous game so that gives him 3 points in his last 2 games. Quick, someone call the hall of fame. Ok all kidding aside, harumpf seems to finally have found his game. He's worked on his skating exclusively in recent weeks so he can be more involved in the play and it's payed off bigtime with a move to the 2nd line with Iginla and Hunter. This line has been playing well and Harumpf is the catalyst in the middle with 3 points in his last 2 games. Experts expect Harumpf to now settle in at close to a point per game over the last 15 games or so. He's finally starting to look like a player that Saskatoon was hoping for when the claimed him. He could be a playoff hero. 200+words

  5. This is my 2nd 590 Radio Article this week, purchases Extra in the Store. 2/2 Looking ahead to the upcoming Dispersal Draft and VHL Draft, it's an exciting time for Oskars Harumpf. He will enter both the VHLM Dispersal Draft and the VHL Draft after the conclusion of this season. He's less concerned about his draft position in the VHL S40 draft because he know's he's a long way from playing in that league. He's also not likely to go very high in that draft due to starting the season late. However, he is on the verge of cracking 75tpe and should be over 100 by the time of the draft, so it's possible he could go earlier that expected. He's not too worried about it though. Just wants to focus on improving and let the rest fall into place. Harumpf does think he could go high in the VHLM Dispersal Draft. His feelings are that he should be one of the higher skilled players available for that draft and most likely will go to a team in need of a top 2 center. He would love to get drafted by Saskatoon, but it looks like they may be drafting later in the 1st round, although I don't know if they own another teams pick, etc. So it's possible Harumpf could end up back in a familiar place like Saskatoon, which would be great, but he also would be happy playing for any other team in the league that shows confidence in him. It will be an exciting day on draft day and I'm sure we'll be talking about it again here soon. 200+ words.

  7. Oskars Harumpf, center for the Saskatoon Wild has been working hard while waiting to actually produce in games. He's played okay, with 3 goals in 17 games, but let's he honest that's not very good. He's been working mostly on his skating, puck handling and passing, but also putting time in on face offs and defense. The idea is a well-rounded offensive game will help him produce, but it may take a little bit of time to reflect on the scoresheet. He's also had his minutes dropped to less than 15 per game, so it may be tough for him to really break out in his first half-season. Most likely Harumpf will continue to wallow in mediocrity for the remainder of the this season with hopes of helping the Wild in the playoffs when his skills should be much improved. Ideally in next season's dispersal draft, a team will most likely be getting a good center who's ready to come in and produce on the top 2 lines. Hopefully Harumpf gets drafted back to Saskatoon, the team that first showed confidence in him, but he's fine playing for other teams as well. Harumpf embraces any and all opportunities that come his way and looks forward to the challenges the rest of this season and beyond bring. 200+ words
  8. Great Job on this! Thanks for the mention
  9. Harumpf Finding Taller VHLM Players a Challenge Little Oskars Harumpf, all 5 foot 5 inches of him has now played 14 games in the VHL. It's been a tough road for the diminutive playmaker as he only has 3 points so far. Even more surprising is those 3 points are all goals. Being known as a playmaker throughout his career, it's very shocking that Harumpf has not been able to even get a secondary assist in 14 games. The Saskatoon Wild have been playing well and giving him good ice time, but he has yet to find his groove. Harumpf has averaged 18 minutes of ice time in his first 14 games and has 14 powerplay minutes as well as over 40 penalty killing minutes. He's managed 2 of his 3 goals on the powerplay, so he's making the most of his time with the man-advantage. He's also only taken 12 shots on the season, so 3 goals has him shooting at a 25% rate, which is pretty good. In his 14 games, he also has 14 hits and 8 pims to go along with a face off winning percentage of just over 40%. Not bad numbers, but none of these statistics really jump out at you and imply that Harumpf is on his way to becoming a dominant player in the VHLM. It's entirely possible that Harumpf's height is making it tough for him to compete against bigger and stronger players. He is only 5'5" but the fact that he weighs 250 pounds was thought to even the playing field. It's possible that his diminutive size may be a bigger short-coming that most scouts thought it would. That being said, Harumpf is working hard to improve and his team is winning games, which is all that really matters at this point. Oskars Harumpf has lots of time to improve on the score sheet and with continued dedication to improving both on and off the ice, we'd give him a better than average chance to achieve his goals. It'd be nice to see him get a few assists though as he's a true playmaker, but if he keeps working at it the points will come. The Saskatoon management group has been very supportive of Harumpf since he joined the league. They immediately recognized his hard work and rewarded him by moving him up to the 2nd line center position. Harumpf had a couple decent games as the number 2 center, but his lack of production has now seen him moved back down the line 3 center position. Still an important line that can help the team win with depth scoring, Harumpf will look to help the 3rd line be productive over the next set of games. Perhaps with a few more points and hard work in practice, Harumpf can once again get back up to 2nd line center. Hopefully Harumpf has his game clicking by the time playoffs come around. He's the kind of player that can sneakily surprise teams in the post-season as more attention will obviously be paid to Saskatoon's top scorers. Little Harumpf could find his niche in the playoffs and make a big difference for the Saskatoon Wild down the stretch. [528 Words]

  13. - Harumpf Not Looking Out of Place - Oskars Harumpf is skating well for Saskatoon. Newly signed playmaking center Oskars Harumpf is finally getting his legs under him in the VHLM on his new team. After joining the Saskatoon Wild last week, he has now played in 7 games and is having a small but important impact so far. Harumpf has managed 2 points, both of which are goals in 7 games played. That's a bit surprising being that he is a playmaker, but he's happy to help the team and get on the scoreboard any way he can. More importantly Harumpf has helped Saskatoon win 6 of those 7 games he's played in. He's been putting in a lot of practice hours and the coaches have rewarded him with more ice time. Harumpf has recently been moved up to 2nd line center and has also been added to the penatly killing unit. As his skills get updated he should be able to have even more of an impact on the ice. We caught up with Oskars Harumpf and asked him about his first week in the league. So Oskars, how does it feel to be a member of the Saskatoon Wild? - I'll be honest, it's amazing. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and have been totally supportive. I can tell this is a great organization and I'm thrilled to be a part of it. You've been lucky to join one of the best teams in the VHLM, how does that feel? - The Saskatoon Wild are a well-oiled machine. They're record speaks for itself, but being a part of it first hand is really special. I mean, we won 6 of the 7 games I've played in. That's not me, that's the team. They're incredible, I'm really lucky to be a part of it and just want to do a small part to help them win. What do you expect of yourself going forward? - I just want to play my role well and try and help this team win a championship. I think I'm getting comfortable out there and with the hard work I've been putting in, I expect to see my game pick up in the coming weeks. I think I can become close to a point per game player as the season progresses. Wins are the most important though. Personal accolades are always second. Well Good luck the rest of the season Harumpf, we'll be watching you. - Thanks, I'll be the guy skating through people's legs. Well it's obvious Harumpf is beginning to get the feel of the VHLM. He's playing well and should only continue to improve. So far in his 7 games, he has those 2 goals, but also has 7 hits, 7 shots, 4 pims and 4 blocks. He's been decent on face offs with a 43.68 Winning %, but that should improve given the practice time he's put in recently. He's averaged just over 17 minutes of ice time per game so far, that number should also see a slight increase now that's he's been moved up to the 2nd line and added to the penalty kill unit. League experts are predicting Oskars Harumpf will be close to a point per game by the end of the season and should become an imporant piece of Saskatoon's playoff run. With continued improvement, the diminutive Danish playmaker could be on his way to stardom. 565 Words.

  15. From Middelfart to Saskatoon A Diminutive Players Journey to Stardom Yes, this is a real town in Denmark. This is a short look into the life of diminutive Danish hockey star Oskars Harumpf. He's one of the shortest, stockiest and most talented hockey players you will ever see. He hails from a town named after farts and his story is truly remarkable. Childhood He'll never be confused for a giant on the ice. As a child he was always the smallest player, but his love of hockey allowed him to overcome many obstacles. The above picture is from the Middelfart Mighty Mite Program, where he skated rings around the competition as a 6 year old. Standing just 3'11" and weighing 140 pounds, Oskars was a virtual bowling ball on skates. Other players in the league made fun of him and laughed when they saw him walk into the arena for games. They ridiculed him in the locker room and even stuffed him into a garbage can once. Oskars did not let this faze him though, he knew as soon as the stepped on the ice, he would make them all look like construction cones. Oskars put up 427 points in his 80 games in the MMM Program from age 6-10. It was obvious Middelfart had something special on their hands with little Harumpf. His skills were obvious, but it was his maturity and strength in the face of adversity at such a young age that was really impressive. Oskars never lost his cool or lashed out in anger over the abuse he took from other players and even teammates. He used it as motivation on the ice and made everyone look foolish. Off the ice he was a little different, but on the ice he was a star. High School After finishing The Middelfart Mite Program and dominating the Middelfart Midget Program, Oskars Harumpf moved right into High School hockey at just 13 years old. At this point he'd had a growth spurt and shot up to 4'9" and weighed close to 190 pounds. Needless to say he was still a cement block on skates. Harumpf played for Middelfart Academy, a private school that catered to exceptional talents in sports and academics. Harumpf was lucky to be able to live at home and get support from his family during his time in high school, which as you could imagine was not easy. On the ice, he was a star, but off the ice he faced many of the challenges you'd expect from a kid of his size and stature. People had more respect for him now because of his hockey dominance, but he still got laughs and giggles from people in the school over his size. Again, he did not let it bother him and let his play do the talking. In 160 games over 4 years at Middelfart Academy, Harumpf broke every scoring record in school history. There's too many to list, but he put up 526 points in 160 games. That's almost 4 points a game. When you're that good at hockey, you're going to earn some respect no matter how tall you are. Harumpf's ridiculous numbers caught the eye of scouts from Denmark's premier hockey league, Metal Ligaen, who signed him to a contract as a 17 year old. Harumpf was headed for professional hockey. Danish Premier League Now 17yrs old and entering his 1st season in the Metal Ligaen hockey league, Harumpf had again hit a growth spurt of monumental proportions. After beginning high school at 4'9" he was now 5'5" and 250 pounds. He was ready to play against men in the best league Denmark had to offer. His first few weeks were tough sledding though as he was challenged by every player on the ice and told he was too small. They thought he had no business on the ice, but it was his weight and stocky build that allowed him to withstand the physical punishment and hold his own. Those first few weeks he had just a handful of points in 12 games, but once the coaches realized he was the real deal they gave him more ice time and a star was born. Harumpf played 3 seasons for Herning Blue Fox and put up 75, 100 and 134 points in three 40 game seasons. His last season of 134 points in 40 games set records across the board for the league. The diminutive scoring star from Middelfart Denmark had outgrown the best league in his country. It was time to try something different and that's when he would take a shot at the VHLM. Saskatoon Wild - VHLM Harumpf earned a tryout for the VHLM and if he impressed the scouts, he would be offered a contract to play minor league hockey in the Victory Hockey League. Well of course when everyone saw him enter the arena, there were laughs and comments "Oh that's the Danish scoring guy, did he play in the Dwarven Hockey League or something?" things like that. Harumpf didn't let it bother him, he knew they'd be eating their words within the hour. After making scouts drool in his tryout, he was quickly picked up on waivers by the Saskatoon Wild. He will now play out the rest of the season as a center in the VHLM. His career and development will be one of the most interesting in league history as he's the shortest 250 pound player ever to lace up the skates in the league. So with a player of Harumpf's stature and skill set, like all players he must have strengths and weaknesses. Let's take a quick look at them. Pros: Hands, Speed, Face Offs. He's a virtual wizard with the puck on his stick and has an uncanny ability to find open players and hit them in stride. He's one of those players that can read a play before it happens and find those soft areas on the ice where he can make plays and dangle around defenders. His hockey IQ is off the charts. His puck handling allows him to gain those extra few seconds needed to make a play when it seems there's no other option. He can make something out of nothing because of his puck skills. His speed is probably his strongest attribute though, being so short, he's had to develop super speed to gain an edge over the bigger defenders. They can't kill what they can't catch. Harump's exceptional speed is very noticeable on the ice, he's often the fastest player out there and he needs to be in order to survive. He's also very strong on face offs because he is so close to the ground. His shortness allows him to get a different angle on the puck and he wins a large percentage of the face offs he takes. Most opposing centers don't know how to deal with a guy who's 5'5" and can basically stand on top of the face off dot. Clearly Harumpf is a special talent. Cons: Height, Strength, Custom Equipment. We'd be lying if we didn't say that his short height brings some challenges on the ice. While it motivates him and has made him the tenacious player he is today, it can also be a detriment when the game becomes physical. Harumpf can get pushed around at times and while he doesn't shy away from contact, he sometimes loses puck battles in the corner to bigger stronger players. He has a low center of gravity but there's still a difference strength when opponents are often a foot taller than him. Also his short arms and short reach put him at a little bit of a disadvantage when battling for loose pucks or trying to reach out and grab a pass. He can usually get by with his speed, but sometimes having a short reach can hurt you. Another thing that could be considered a negative is his pants and sock sizes. At 5'5" and 250 pounds, the Saskatoon Wild could not find a normal pair of hockey pants to fit him. They had to custom make a pair of pants that were basically shaped like a box. Also the standard team issue socks were way too long, so they had to make a custom home and away set for Harumpf. It's a bit of a headache to custom make all his equipment, but he's worth it. Well that about does it. Hope you enjoyed the Biography of Oskars Harumpf. If you get the chance to watch him play, you won't be disappointed. He's definitely one of the most unique talents the VHLM has ever seen. Harumpf with the puck from his first career VHLM goal in game 160 vs. Moscow. (1,461 Words)

  17. It was a monumental day on saturday, when Oskars Harumpf scored his 1st career goal in the VHLM. After working hard since joining the league less than a week ago, Harumpf finally got his name in the books with his 1st goal and 1st point. It happened in game #160 vs the Red Wolves on the powerplay. Harumpf was out there with the man advantage due to Tobias Funke being tired, normally Funke is the #2 powerplay center, but Harumpf got his chance and made the most of it. Let's see how the play developed... it started with a loose puck in the nuetral zone, which Harumpf gathered up and skated into the offensive zone. He passed it off to Kayle Kuzie, who gave it right back to Harumpf who fired a one timer. That was saved by Red Wolves goalie Forever but there was a rebound. Wild's Rick Roll collected it and threw a shot on net that was deflected wide by Braxton Hunter. Then Harumpf sped over to grab the loose puck in the corner, curled out in front of the net at the top of the circle and fired a wrist shot that beat Forever high glove. GOAL!!! Oskars Harumpf (1) from Roll and Braxton on the powerplay. History has been made. Possibly the shortest player to ever score a goal in the VHLM at just 5'5" tall. YAY!
  18. Harumpf 1st career goal!

  20. This is the Extra Fan 590 I purchased in Player Store for this week: http://www.vhlforum.com/index.php?/topic/10137-vhl-player-store-new/?p=104962 ___ After being claimed by Saskatoon, Oskars Harumpf is already speculating at where he may fit into the line up. As a playmaking center who's strong on draws, he should be able to slot in on the 2nd line with some powerplay duty and possible penalty kill work. Currently Tobias Funke is manning the 2nd line, but Harumpf already has a higher face off and defense rating, so it should be an upgrade for the Wild. His wingers on line 2 would be shoot first player Walt Pringle and physical forward Boris Belov. That line could find some chemistry as it would be comprised of a playmaking center, scoring winger and physical winger, exactly the kind of line that makes coaches drool. A triple threat if you will. Harumpf would look good on line 2, but it's even possible he gets a shot on line 1 with the big boys. It all depends on how much responsibility the coaches want to give him right out of the gate. He's definitely talented enough to be a top pivot and has been working hard, but he may need a few games to earn his spot. One thing is for sure, scouts expect Harumpf to burst onto the VHLM scene when he does hit the ice. It'll be worth following the career of the diminutive danish scoring sensation.

  23. Oskars Harumpf from Middelfart Denmark was recently claimed on waivers by The Saskatoon Wild, we caught up with him and asked how it feels to be joining the VHLM I'm thrilled that someone put in a claim on me and even happier that it was Sakskatoon. I've heard great things about the city and am really looking forward to playing there. They're suppose to have an awesome fanbase and I can't wait to get into my first game. I'm looking forward to meeting my teammates and finding some chemistry on the ice. Saskatoon seems like a good fit for me, I think they can use a playmaking center, which is exactly what I am. I hope to have a good impact in the VHLM over the rest of the season and make a name for myself going into the VHL draft. Hopefully I can play well for the Saskatoon Wild and help them win a championship this season. Really thankful to them for showing faith in a 5'5" guy from Denmark. I can't wait to get started. -Thanks
