  1. What a combination these two players are turning out to be on a line together for Bratislava. It's starting to become scary. Things really got going 3 games ago when they combined for 9 points, Zoidberg had 3 goals and 2 assists and Harumpf 1 goal and 3 assists. They've been working hard in practice as Harumpf is the passer and Zoidberg the shooter and their chemistry is only getting better. They followed up their 9 point performance with 7 point performance, Zoidberg 2g, 2a and Harumpf 1g, 2a. That's 16 combined points in 2 games, needless to say these were both wins for Bratislava. Now things really become impressive as they combined for 10 points in their most recent game. Zoidberg scoring 4 goals and 1 assist and Harumpf with a playmakers dream, 5 assists. I'd say these two have a little bit of chemistry on the ice. With 26 combined points in the last 3 games, this dynamic duo is looking like one of the most dangerous in the entire VHLM. Through 11 games, Harumpf has 4 goals and 15 assists, while Zoidberg the shooter has 15 goals and 10 assists. Just awesome numbers by these two talented players. Harumpf is especially happy with his performance as his 19 points in 11 games shatters his career high of 16 points in 43 games last season. Bratislava is on a nice winning streak having won 5 in a row and 7 of their last 8 games. Yep, pretty good times right now for the Watchmen.
  2. lol, I should have used something like that for the article!
  3. Harumpf Catches Fire for Bratislava! Oskars Harumpf celebrates one of his 2 goals in a recent game. Well it took a few games to shake the rust off and a correction in his attributes, but Bratislava center Oskars Harumpf has now caught fire. He’s found amazing chemistry with new wingman Sachimo Zoidberg and the two have been tearing up the league over the last few games. Harumpf has played his favorite role as set up man and now has 11 points through 9 games, 6 of those coming in the last 2 games alone. 3 goals 8 assists on the season now for Oskars after a 4 point performance in game 40. The amazing performance marked a career high in points and hits. Somehow the diminutive Danish bowling ball had 7 hits in the game! He’s only 5’5” as we all know but he’s 250 pounds so obviously he knows how to throw his weight around. Harumpf’s 7 hits are a remarkable stat for any player, but the shortest player in the league doing this is quite an amazing accomplishment, especially when you consider he has zero practice hours dedicated to checking or strength. I guess Harumpf is just a natural born hitter. We don’t expect to see him rack up 7 hits a game going forward, but he definitely brings an edge to his game. Harumpf’s points through 9 games are a reflection of the work he’s done in the off-season. He’s worked on speed, puck handling, passing, defense and scoring. His game has reached a new level and he’s looking like one of the better Centers in the VHLM. He’s not going to blow you away with his shot total or goal scoring, but he’s an excellent playmaker and very responsible defensively as well as being solid on draws. He brings an all around game and is exactly the kind of player GM’s love to have on their team and players love playing with. Zoidberg especially has been enjoying being on a line with Harumpf as he’s been racking up the goals and shot totals. It’s expected this dynamic duo should only continue to improve as the season progresses. By the time playoffs roll around, they should be on a whole different level than they are now. It’s scary to think about. Now of course Bratislava has to make the playoffs first, but all signs point to them being a playoff team. They have incredibly strong defense and just picked up a solid new goaltender. Things are looking good for the Watchmen. Harumpf has settled into his role on his new team and is looking very comfortable. After his recent hot streak, he’s finally found the game he hoped to when he joined the league as a waiver claim midway through last season. After a successful playoff performance for Saskatoon, many speculated he would break out this season on a new team. That’s exactly what is happening and the diminutive Danish playmaker has finally arrived. All signs point to Harumpf becoming a household name by the end of the season and things are looking great for him as a future center for Helsinki. 500+ Words
  4. Harumpf/Zoidberg getting it done!
  5. Harumpf Ready for First Full VHLM Season After coming in during the middle of the S39 season, Oskars Harumpf struggled to find his place in a league of much more experienced hockey players. He started off slow but kept working hard to improve and eventually found his groove. He only played in 43 regular season games least year and manged to put up 16 points. Not a bad half season for a true rookie and he improved greatly as the season progressed. He then had 10 points in 14 playoff games and was a key contribitor for a Saskatoon team that went to 7 games in the conference finals with the eventual champs. That's all ancient history now though as Harumpf has a new VHLM team. In fact he has 2 new teams as he was taken 6th overall by the Helsinki Titans in the VHL draft and 4th overall by the Bratislava Watchmen in the VHLM dispersal draft. Needless to say it's been an exciting last couple weeks for Harumpf as he's met many new teammates in both leagues. He's looking forward to getting back on the ice though and his outlook for Bratislava this season is very bright. With an opportunity to play a full 72 game season, Harumpf has a chance to become a star as he'll begin the year as one of the more talented players in the entire VHLM. This is quite a change from last year where he entered as a complete unknown. Last year he had to work his way up the depth chart, but this season he should be given top minutes right out of the gate. With the puck on his stick more this season he should be able to shatter last years regular season numbers and really play a big role for his new team. His utlimate goal is the win the championship, but he also wants to improve as a player. It's entirely possible he could score at a point per game pace this season and even exceed that if he shows quick chemistry with his linemates. Harumpf is a set-up man first and a shooter second. He will always look for a pass, but realizes this season he must not force it, if he has a shot he will take it. Harumpf actually worked on shooting during the break. After only taking 45 shots in 43 games last season, shooting was an area of his game that Harumpf wanted to improve. He will always be a pass first player, but he managed to get 60 practice hours into shooting this off-season. Harumpf feels like he's capable of burying a goal now if he needs to, but still wants to end up with a 3 to 1 assist to goal ratio. That's what he was at last season, but he knows this season he will be looked to as a leader and will be expected to contribute in the goal column, not just with assists. Harumpf feels his shot is at a point where it can be useful now and it should be another dangerous aspect of his game. Harumpf will continue to focus on defense and passing throughout the season as well on work on his puck handling and skating. With a full season ahead of him in the VHLM that includes 72 games plus playoffs, Harumpf should settle in as one of the top players in the VHLM this season. He's excited to be playing for Bratislava as it's reasonably close to his home town of Middelfart, Denmark. He expects to have family at home games on more than one occasion. It should be a very special year for Harumpf and he's definitely ready for it. 610 Words.
  6. Great choices. Congrats old teammates.
  7. After playing last season as a waiver wire pick up for the Saskatoon Wild, Oskars Harumpf entered the VHLM Dispersal Draft and was taken 4th overall by the Bratislava Watchmen. He loves his old team in Saskatoon and will remember them fondly, but Bratislava is now his home and he bleeds Bratislava blue. He is now a Watchmen or Watchman, still not sure exactly what that is, but he's embraced it. Harumpf looks forward to getting on the ice with his new teammates who from the activity in the locker room seem like they are all going to be hard working players. Harumpf will put on his new XXL Short Bratislava jersey sometime this week when he's expected to center the top line. Not exactly sure who his linemates will be yet, but this guy Zoidberg seems like a good fit on one of his wings. Hopefully Harumpf will be able to find quick chemistry with his new wingers and set them up for many goals. Entering the season as a 155tpe player he is slated to be one of the top centers in the VHLM this season. Harumpf is all-in this year in trying to win a VHLM championship before breaking with his VHL team the Helsinki Titans in S41. Another year of development should do wonders for his game. Keep an eye out for him in Bratislava this season, it should be a good year for the Watchmen.
  8. Thanks for getting me started in the league. You were an amazing GM in Saskatoon. Best of luck in the future. #Respect.

  11. Take 2. Oskars Harumpf was thrilled to be selected 6th overall by the Helsinki Titans in the S40 VHL Draft on Tuesday. He was unsure of where he'd be taken after being contacted by 3 teams, but in the end Helsinki showed great confidence in him, trading out of the 4th spot to move down to 6th and make him their 1st pick of the draft. Harumpf could not be happier to be joining such a great organization. He's always been short, but now he can finally call himself a Titan! Let's see what he had to say on draft night... "I'm honestly speechless right now, this is such an honor. Helsinki has always been a place I could see myself playing, I can't believe I get to put that jersey on one day. I am truly blessed. Coming from Denmark I'm familiar with Scandanavian hockey and playing in Helsinki will be an easy transition for my family and I. I could be happier. I can't wait to meet the guys and the other draft picks, this is easily the most exciting night of my life. Thank to the Titans organization for drafting me and I promise to work my butt off every day to earn the faith you've put in me. You will not be disappointed, I promise you."
  12. Congrats to all my Saskatoon teammates who've been selected so far. Great showing!
  13. Honored to be selected by Helsinki!!!
  14. Honoured to be on the NA roster along with other Saskatoon top prospects.
  15. Top 5 in VHL History Most Assists in a Season Patrick Bergvist looks up ice during his 114 assist season. As someone who is a budding playmaker in the VHLM, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the top 5 seasons for assists in the VHL. This article is for the VHL History Doubles Week Point Task. I'm new to the league so had to really start from scratch here and do some digging. #1 Patrick Bergvist - D - HC Dynamo - S20: 114 Assists Bergvist comes in number one on our list as he holds the record for most assists in a season with 114. Playing defense for the HC Dynamo he was a virtual wizard with the puck. He was able to hit players in stride right on the tape no matter what the situation. He could also carry the puck and make plays off the rush and his creativity was off the charts. Bergqvist had a remarkable 40 assists on the powerplay that season and 144 total points when it was all said and done. The 114 assists is what really stands out though. That number may never be broken, especially not by a defenseman. Bergvist deserves a lot of recognition for his impressive place in the VHL record books. #2 Joey Kendrik - Calgary - S5: 112 Assists With the S5 index unavailable it's this writer being new to the league it's hard to say what position Kendrick played back then, but there's no question he was an amazing playmaker. Coming in just 2 assists behind the great Bergvist has him just off the pace of the most assists in a season. He must have had incredible vision and ability to make plays at a high speed. You don't get 112 assists unless you know how to read the ice and see things before they happen. I would have like to see Kendrick play, it must have been quite a show. One can only speculate he was one of the best playmakers ever. #3 David Walcott - D - Helsinki Titans - S26: 111 Assists Walcott was a defenseman for the Helsinki Titans and was obviously and incredible puck mover. His 111 assist season was one of the top 3 ever in the history of the league. Walcott did his damage playing over 30 minutes a game and put up a combined 145 points including 36 powerplay assists. Those are amazing numbers from any player and even more so from a defenseman. Walcott was obviously Helsinki's offensive catalyst that season and everything went through him. Season 26 was not that long ago, so many readers may remember watching him play. He may not have been able to top the great Bergvist but coming in just 3 assists behind him will not soon be forgotten. #4 Frans Spelman - D - Toronto Legion - S20: 106 Assists Yet another defenseman and also another from the S20 season. I don't know what was going on that year but it looks to be the year of the playmaking defenseman. Spelman joins Bergvist as the 2nd defenseman that season to eclipse the century mark with assists. 106 is just 8 off Bergvist's pace and while that may seem like a decent gap, it's still a ridiculous number of helpers. Spelman was obviously a phenomenal player for Toronto, he added 28 goals that season and finished with 134 points. He lead Toronto to a Division championship that season and will be remembered as one of the best playmaking D of all time. #5 - TIE - Scotty Campbell - S5 & Ryan Sullivan - S31: 101 Assists At 5th place we have a tie between Seattle's Scotty Campbell from S5 and Calgary's Ryan Sullivan from S31. We know Sullivan was a defenseman and from the trend on this list we can only assume Campbell was as well, but with the S5 index not available I may be mistaken. Regardless both players had unbelievable seasons cracking the century mark in assists. Sullivan obviously did his damage from the blue line as he helped the Wranglers win the division and finish as the #1 team in the league. Campbell must have had quite a race with our fellow S5 assist man Kendrick and I'm sure the two flip flopped numerous times throughout the season. Both Campbell and Sullivan deserve to be in the top 5 and have staked their claim in the VHL record book. Well there you have it, the top 5 seasons for assists in VHL history. I hoped you enjoyed looking back at some of these amazing players. It's important to remember the history of the league and records like these will live on forever. 775 Words.
