    1. With the NA conference being currently stacked. The New York Americans (25-23-2) are 9 points out of a playoff spot and might be the best team in recent seasons to miss the playoffs. How do you think they feel about their misfortune ?

I bet they feel absolutely devastated

    2. This is relatable to my first question. Looking to the EU conference you have Malmo (20-23-7) -22 goal diff, sitting in a playoff spot. What do you think about a team most likely making the playoffs with under 30 wins?  *They are on pace for 29 wins

I mean in comparison to back in the day, that’s a highly competitive team

    3. With only 3 points separating  the top 4 teams in the NA conference, who would you rather play in round 1 and why?  Seattle 63 pts , D.C 63 pts or Vancouver 61 pts

D.C because we beat them last time so we’ll do it again because that’s how science operates

    4. Calgary gives you a performance based bonus of $500K. You have to spend it all. How would you spend the money ?

I invest it in my off-shore carpentry business that is absolutely legitimate

    5. Jacques Lafontaine has played 50 games and has 31 wins. He is allowed to play 14 more games. Can he record 9 more wins to hit the elusive "40 win " mark ?

As someone who has been referred to as a mathematician in the past, I can confirm it is possible for him to do this

    6.  What is your favorite meal of the day?

Breakfast, wheat is the food of a champion

  2. There was only one notable thing about Edwin THE Encarnacion right now and he’s only gone and fucked it up hasn’t he? All he had to do was follow the damn TPE train!

But yes, for the first time in his not-even-remotely storied career, Edwin THE Encarnacion has failed to achieve the 12 TPE cap in a given week as he’s had to submit for welfare citing an “unwillingness to move his monitor from one room to another at 11 PM at night”, which we can only assume is some kind of hockey jargon or Canadian slang. As a result for his failings in the 11th hour, Encarnacion will appropriately only get 11 TPE this week, which will not hurt his progress in any way shape or form, and (as someone who came from an era where a welfare player only had access to a max of what, 6-7 TPE?) that feels really weird.

  3. Edwin THE Encarnacion has been apprehended by the police for both breaking Canadian lockdown rules and attempt to break and enter as he was seen desperately trying to gain access to the Calgary Wranglers practice facility at 9 PM this Sunday. Those who lived close by reported that THE Encarnacion was screaming about how he absolutely had to get access to a computer to submit an article for VHL.com in order to “claim TPE” for himself.

A statement given by the Calgary Super Special Force of Justice  read as follows:

“Last night, we arrested a Dominican male for actions that took place outside of the Calgary Wranglers Practice Facility. It’s a shame that we have to keep making these announcements with the current situation but we have to once again remind the general public the importance of remembering that writing articles and making graphics does not under any circumstance make you a better hockey player. Stay at home, save our time.”

It was also revealed that it is unclear what punishment THE Encarnacion is able to face given that, due to several resurrections and the occasional cloning, his legally accepted age may be much younger than his physical age.

  4. 1. The Wranglers have gone 9-5-0 this week and 16-8-0 on the season. That's good enough for 1st place. How do you remain in 1st?

As someone who has won the Victory Cup as both a player and a GM, I can say with confidence that winning games will help us keep in 1st.

    2. Edwin The Encarnacion has 4 goals on the season. 3 of those are game winners. How is Edwin  so clutch?

    Steriods. All of them.

    4. What Mario Kart character would you select to play with ?

I play with my Mii so that I can feel like I've achieved something in my life.

    5. Will the 2019-2020 NHL season return in any form?

Probably not since hockey, much like blitzball, isn't actually a real sport

    6. Your powerplay has suddenly improved to 21% this week. What was the reason ?

    I showcased my power

    8. If you could pick any retired VHL player and add them to our roster, who would it be ?

Inject Thomas O'Malley directly into my veins.

  5. One of the big plus points attached to Calgary Wranglers defenseman Edwin THE Encarnacion’s name heading into the draft was his unparalleled consistency when it came to earning capped TPE. Every single week in the lead-up to the draft, the man from the hockey cold-bed of Dominican Republic had earned the maximum 12 capped TPE and that helped him secure his place as the number one prospect in TPE heading into the Season 70 Draft. As of late though, there’s been a concerning amount of desperation in Encarnacion’s TPE earning. The first red flag appeared week ending March 15th where Encarnacion, having somehow completely forgot about earning TPE, knowingly submitted what he refers to as “shit content” in the form of a previously discarded podcast in order to make sure he could claim 6 TPE and subsequently keep the 12 capped TPE a week train rolling.

Fast forward three weeks to April 5th and Encarnacion was back to scrambling around for TPE, although this time for more understandable reasons. After suffering a hard drive failure, Encarnacion was stuck on a Windows reboot loop which prevented him from using his go-to device for his 6 TPE point tasks. This would not have usually been a problem as he could have gone out of the house and acquired the required boot-up software from a friend or family’s PC however, to cut a long story short, coronavirus is a thing and because of that a quick fix was not able to be established. With no way to get a 6 TPE point task off (while I record podcasts on my phone, I can only upload them using a PC), it looked like Encarnacion would be forced to submit welfare and subsequently break the chain that he had worked so hard on maintaining. Ironically enough, the thing that would allow Encarnacion to continue to claim 12 TPE per week was his tardiness in other areas. Encarnacion had submitted for a $20 Season 70 donation and had originally put himself down for a $1 Million spending coupon in the player store. However, as Encarnacion had never actually claimed that $1 Million for use in the player store, he was able to change his donation reward to a Full Free Week, alleviating his concerns and allowing him to continue his progress as an elite VHL prospect.

And here we are, one week later and Edwin THE Encarnacion has achieved peak TPE shithousery. He’s dedicated an entire 500+ word article to documenting how lackadaisical he’s been in regards to earning TPE. So by being terrible at the VHL yet still getting away with it, Encarnacion has managed to generate himself content that will see him continue his TPE streak. I mean, you could even make the argument, given this is basically just an article about THE Encarnacion written by THE Encarnacion, that this is equal to the “Shit content” level that his utterly crap podcast he previously mentioned. Regardless, I think it’s fair to say that Edwin THE Encarnacion continues to be a bad influence on the VHL community and I think there will be celebrations in the streets once he is out of the league (providing that’s a thing we can do without being arrested for failing to comply with social distancing measures by the time he leaves).

From this point, since we didn't like the response that we got, we decided to look a bit further into the community here and I think you guys understand most of the rest of it. But we did not ever do this before the conclusion of the finals. We were never keeping a tally on things, it was all after the fact. I keep seeing everywhere that we've just been waiting for a moment to end affiliation, but that just plainly isn't the case.

I'm still confused on this point since a post from Evans (another BOD member) suggests the complete opposite to this took place:

    Quote

This is not an isolate incident in the VHL and we are not reacting to just the most recent instance of this. This has been a situation we have monitored for quite some time. This most recent thread was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I don't know if Evans just illustrated his thoughts incorrectly, but I think that post played a significant part in why the "SBA were looking for reasons to get out" message came about and subsequently spread.

  7. 7. Which Wranglers jersey sold the most at the pro shop last season ?

It was probably mine given I was the first overall selection of the previous draft and I rewarded them with a very rough first season

    8. Bana's attempts to bash Jubis in the Seattle Press Conference whenever he can. Serious question tho, how truly envious is  Bana of Jubis's greatness?

I don't look in other team's press conferences, so I couldn't tell you.

    9. What is more full of $hit this truck or Bana?

I've yet to find a way to quantify metaphorical shit to a real world metric.

    10. Ok ok I'll play nice now!

What are your top 3 tv shows, that you recommend binge watching ?

I don't watch much TV so am not a binger, but I got through to start of Season 5 in GoT, and I've enjoyed that.

    7. In s70 Calgary finished 41-24-7. Predict Calgary's record for  the s71 season ?

    I'll go with 44-24-4

    9.  What part of your game will you try to improve going into next season ?

I improved my experience a lot using secret aging techniques,

  8. While many had Calgary Wranglers defenseman Edwin THE Encarnacion down for a big improvement over his rookie campaign, not many will have foreseen the impact that the Dominican has had over the first ten games of the season. With 12 points to his name, THE Encarnacion currently ranks joint-4th in the VHL in points and joint-1st in points for defensemen, along with some solid defensive contributions that have helped the Wranglers into a place near the top of the standings through the early going of the season.

Given that THE Encarnacion is already a mere five points off his Season 70 points tally, if he were to continue at his current rate of production then he would have to be in strong consideration for the Most Improved Award, although he’d likely face stiff contribution from one of the defensemen currently equal with him on points. Moscow Menace’s Oskar Lagesson has already beaten his Season 70 total and, like Encarnacion, is surprisingly leading his team in points.

  9. 1.  Are you well rested for the season ? It starts in a few days !!!!!

I am, I'm more than ready now for the start of a new season.

    2. What is the best VHL player name you have ever seen? Most unique or favourite is ok too.

I liked Francis York Morgan cause it referenced the video game Deadly Premonition and I wasn't expecting that.

    3. Prediction: Which Calgary Wrangler will score the first goal of the season ?

I'm going to go myself, because if I'm wrong I was just being biased, but if I'm right I bet well on the underdog

    4. Prediction: Which Calgary Wrangler will drop the gloves first and record their first fight of the season ?

LaFontaine, I don't think I've ever seen a goalie fight and I wanna see it.

    5. Prediction: How many goals does Jacques Lafontaine allow in his first game of the season ? ( 0 to 9 )

    I don't know who we're playing first, so I'll go 1.

    6. With everything going on in the world, should you play in an empty arena ?

Go even further, play without the players, let the wind decide who is the greater team.

  10. - For the second week in a row I've found myself somewhat scrambling to make the TPE cap, but it will be made regardless. I think largely the main reason for this is getting more familiar with my new surroundings as I've moved house recently, so I haven't really wanted to podcast during what is a less familiar drive to and from work. Hopefully in the coming weeks I can get my schedule sorted so I'm not partaking in another Sunday Night Scramble.

    - I've been asked questions in regards to a Job Audit regarding my time as an updater. I'll be interested to hear the outcome of it since a big reason for leaving the role was to do with the pay not lining up with the amount of work I was doing.

    - Portal Idea: Put a tab of player's purchased items in the Manage Player section,. Put a button next to each one that, upon being clicked, submits a claim for that item to the update queue. On the player's purchase page, add a tick box next to "Approved" labelled "Claimed" so that it is easier to track when a pruchase has/hasn't been claimed for.

  11. Removing All Star Game uncapped

This is a change I can get fully behind because, quite frankly, I don’t understand how such large amounts of uncapped TPE were given for it in the first place. While the All Star game is a fun enough side thing that allows us to see the league’s best players compete in the appropriate EA NHL game, there was no good reason for players to be allowed to earn up to 5 uncapped TPE for their performances in a glorified exhibition match. This was especially true in the era where VHL GM’s were allowed to guarantee a player made the All Star game, which usually led to players who would have rightly stood no chance of participating in the game if their fate was decided by a public vote gaining access to a game that was supposed to celebrate the best of the VHL. More than happy to see these rewards dumped.

Lowering Award wins from 2 TPE to 1

A change that, given the introduction of All VHL teams, I have no problem with. While I’ve mainly been against giving awards for performances in the sim, I was generally fine with awards TPE given that it was a minor reward for the best of the best and I don’t think there’s anyone in the history of the VHL who can claim that Award TPE alone made them as good as they were. Reducing it to 1 TPE won’t effect a players uncapped TPE too much, but the reasons for the change are solid. A couple of things though; first I would like to see the return of the old rule where a player could not add Award TPE to his new player earned from his old one (as once that player is gone, the purpose of rewarding TPE goes with it). Secondly, I wonder what is set to happen with the All VHL payout, specifically for the second team. It’s not really the same as a tied award, so the same TPE award given to first and second All VHL would be a little weird.

Removing Trivia uncapped end of season reward

It’s a shame for Trivia to lose some of it’s rewards given that it’s one of my favourite tasks to partake in (I’m probably one of three people who finds the answers for themselves), but I can also fully understand the reasoning behind the removal of the uncapped benefit. Given that a lot of people will now submit answers based on team-mates/GM’s providing them, trivia has become by far the easiest mini-PT to participate in. Therefore, rewarding a task which requires the least effort with a large amount of uncapped TPE no longer made much sense.

    Removing Weekly/Monthly Lottery

An interesting removal given the amount of people who were behind a “Fix the lottery” movement when it was at it’s most flawed. The lottery has been around in the VHL for a long time, but in a lot of different formats. We had the old magazine lottery where members picked a unique three digit number, it’s successor which had members participate with a simple poll vote, the very controversial Quik lottery format which rewarded members with lottery entries based on posts in game threads and finally a format that awarded tickets based on capped TPE earned in the week/month. While it’s a bit odd to cite “lack of engagement of the current format” as a reason behind the change given that, for the most part, the lottery didn’t require much engagement in the first place (the lone exception being the game thread lottery, although the engagement required was actually it’s biggest flaw), I’ve never been a fan of luck-based rewarding of TPE, so it’s removal works for me.
