  3. Hello, please use the below form to sign up for VHFL. Comments to this thread will not count towards the sign-up. The form will be closed sometime in the evening (6-8 PM EST) on Wednesday, June 14th. I will be traveling this week for work and may not be able to create groups until that night when I reach my hotel.
  4. Hello, it's me again! Earlier this offseason, @Gustav and I announced a rule change that redefined an "active" player in the VHLM. At the time, we had a few other rule changes being discussed that needed further deliberation and fleshing out. We're now ready to announce two more changes this offseason: Regulating VHLM Player Retirement and Subsequent Re-Creation Recently, the VHLM has seen a few instances of a VHLM player retiring and then subsequently recreating with a new player. The VHLM currently does not have any rules that cover this area, but we have encountered situations that do not follow our expected competitive integrity for the VHLM. We are adding the following rules to the rulebook: Capping VHLM Player Career Lengths For as long as I've been in the VHL, I can remember a career VHLM player existing at some point or the other. There's various valid reasons that a user could prefer to stay in the VHLM for longer than the typical 1-3 season period - some of which we're very proud of. Great team cultures, friendly environments, and user comfort are all reasons that users tend to hang out or revisit their old VHLM stomping grounds. However, it's been apparent over time that VHLM "lifers" pose their own issues to the league. Certain teams often receive 5+ seasons out of a single player, showing a lack of competitive integrity (yes, still important in a development league to prevent abuse of rules). In addition, high TPE lifers are taking valuable minutes away from the targeted demographic of the VHLM - the new users and players. In order to prevent abuse of the lack of rules surrounding these areas, the VHLM is taking a step alongside the VHLE to make a shift to VHLM and VHLE eligibility. Currently, a VHLM player will remain in the VHLM until they cross 200 TPE at an offseason cutoff (or spend over 200 TPA after an offseason cutoff). We are hereby instituting a 4 post-VHL Draft season maximum - any active player at or under 200 TPE after their 4th post-VHL Draft season will then be moved up to the VHLE where they will follow the appropriate VHLE procedures for Free Agency. 4 post-draft seasons were chosen as they would typically signify the completion of the standard 3 season rights period after being drafted with 1 or 2 buffer FA seasons for any edge cases. This should allow the majority of the VHLM population to graduate naturally without any issues. These changes will go into effect immediately - any VHLM player in the S85 class or older will be moved to the VHLE. - @VHLM Commissioner Tagging those involved/impacted: @VHLE Commissioner @VHLM GM @VHLE GM
  5. Yes, a fair value trade for a GM player will usually be accepted. It can still happen now. This is a bit of a gray area, but the real issue is abusing the rule to pay the least in assets for your player.
  6. For those not in GM chat, this trade was vetoed by the Commissioner's. Trading for a GM's player for below market value is an abuse of the rule that states GM's cannot sign their own players in FA.
  7. Thank you for forum content
  8. Idk I was told this many seasons ago. Waiting on higher judgment.
  9. Isn't this illegal lmao
  10. Quick hitter today, chatting about smoke and commuting to the office again. Then talking about some drafts and rules regarding drafts and free agency.

    Mexico City GM

Hi all, Due to an extremely busy summer work schedule that would prevent him from properly fulfilling the duties of his role, @badcolethetitan is stepping down from his position as Mexico City GM. He has done an excellent job in this position, and we're very sad to see him go. We hope that he returns to the M as a GM in the future and wish him the best of luck with his VHL career. We're extremely appreciative of the strong candidate pool we received for the Miami and Saskatoon openings, and have decided to select someone directly from that pool due to the time sensitivity of this position with the VHLM draft on Friday. We're excited to welcome a former GM back to the ranks: Looking forward to the draft this Friday and the upcoming season! - @VHLM Commissioner

  13. I feel like the Twitch ads incident is probably the worst context to call me smart in lol. But yeah it is an excuse, a shitty one, but it is what it is. If I survive the vote, I shall be vigilant tonight.

  15. Yeah won't lie, I have checked in on this game a grand total of twice. VHL offseason with having a busy weekend didn't help. For what it's worth, my role is dull enough to not have to send in night actions unless I really feel like it. I suppose being quiet has helped since I forgot to send anything in Saturday night (N2?). So I'll leave it at that and will try to be a bit more attentive now. We've lost a lot of folks yeesh.

  17. Presser for June 5th week! 1. Moscow and Prague made a surprise trade late last week - did you see it? Any initial thoughts? 2. In the trade, Moscow added a forward, a defenseman, and a goalie. Which position do you think was most in need for the team? 3. With Kyosti Karjalainen retired, Moscow will have to choose a new Captain. Who do you think might be a good choice? 4. Moscow had 3 players nominated for the Most Outstanding Player - Ronan Lavelle, Tomas Sogaard and Hammar Voss. Do you think any of them will win? 5. I've asked this question before, but the landscape of the VHL is always changing. Which player not on Moscow would you want to play with, if there was the opportunity to team up? 6. Wrong answers only - what is @BOOM's favorite music to listen to?
  18. LOL the members tag. I still hate Gus but the sims and streams were fun. Hope to do it again next offseason!

Changelog (6-4-2023): 1.1 Releasing Inactive Players: "Active" definition edited
  20. Hello all, Now that we're in the offseason, @Gustav and I have a fairly minor VHLM rule change to announce. However, it does affect one of the core eligibility criterion of the VHLM, so it deserves a formal announcement. Currently, the definition of an "active" player in the VHLM is as follows: While we strive to give every member a quality VHLM experience, we've realized that a portion of this definition allows for behavior that we feel is counter to the purpose of the VHLM. The minors are meant to engage, retain and above all, develop players so that they are prepared for the VHLE and the VHL. Currently, posting on the forums counts towards activity - so a player can choose not to earn any TPE at all as long as they're somewhat around the forums. This will be changing to the following: Essentially, the change eliminates forum posts as "activity" in regards to remaining on a VHLM roster. We strongly encourage all VHLM players to never stop earning to stay down intentionally, so players must update to remain eligible to play. This will help nudge players to continue earning and updating, and closes a potential loophole. - @VHLM Commissioner @VHLM GM - for awareness
  21. There's been discussions and discourse in the past about the mod team owning all VHL/E/M servers, and that's something that many people (including myself) were strongly against. No one should have to feel like they're being watched 24/7, including within any private channels that may have strategic or unique discussions. Also the last times it came up were in response to someone getting punished and then deleting their LR (accidentally in one case), so in the vast majority of instances there are smooth transitions. I won't speak to the VHL or E, but Gus and I could speak to the M GM's and see if they want to have a new "VHLM Commish" account own all the LRs and just keep that login info somewhere in the VHLM Commish subforum.
  22. Damn I was gonna say this but you read my mind. Copying me smh
