  1. More along the lines of "next to impossible to convince the simmer to actually do this" unfortunately. Since roster changes are completely manual in the index/STHS, it'd be on the simmers for the most part to be handling these kinds of changes. We've already gotten a little bit of pushback with the current IA goalie change in terms of expected frequency that this would be used, so we don't want to implement something that'd be even more annoying for the simmers to deal with.
  2. Tbh I'd say it was the opposite. Intervention mode last season in regards to draft picks, loosening a lot up this past offseason in regards to double shifting and incorporating some IA flexibility. And then whole waiver system being revamped makes life easier for everyone involved (even more once we get some of the kinks worked out with it).
  3. Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time to read this announcement. Moscow retired two franchise legends' jerseys just two seasons ago, and we already have two more phenomenal candidates and their jerseys to raise to the Moscow rafters. This season's nominees are quite special to me, and hold some franchise history as well. They are just the second and third players in franchise history to play their full careers on Moscow, and the first to do so under my tenure. While the salary cap does its best to ensure parity and force difficult choices, these two players made it clear that Moscow was their home - and here they would stay. Without further ado, lets get into the ceremony! --- Centers in the Moscow organization simply seem to become some of the most underrated, yet most successful players in the league. While Duncan Idaho's on-ice play and success stole the spotlight for most of S78-S85, it was also this player quietly playing an invaluable role at the center position. In 576 games, he scored 276 goals (2nd franchise history), 381 assists (2nd in franchise history), and 657 points (3rd in franchise history). In the playoffs, he has 48 goals (1st in franchise history), 69 assists (2nd in franchise history) and 117 points (2nd in franchise history). Don't let all the second place finishes fool you: without this player, Moscow would not have been nearly as successful as a team. He served as the captain for multiple seasons (breaking the captain curse, might I add) and was an alternate captain for numerous seasons before then as well. From a user perspective, I must say I've enjoyed seeing him get familiar with me and the organization. When we first drafted him, he had never played for Moscow - instead enjoying some productive time with Prague which I mainly associated with him. Even when we got to the first contract negotiation at the end of S79, I recall him being unsure with the team and wanting to wait for Hard Markinson to re-sign with the team. Once he signed, Moscow went on to two straight finals, and we were due for another contract negotiation. At that time, he said he wanted to stick around in Moscow for the rest of his career, which was a big jump from when he first joined the organization and was unsure. I'm just happy to have interacted with him for the better part of a year and a half, and to have just had a genuinely kind and passionate individual around the team. Please congratulate our first candidate: C - The Seabasstard - @Seabass --- Our second candidate might simply be the best defenseman of this era. Special players don't come around often, but Moscow has been extremely lucky to have so many on the team at the same time. One thing Moscow has never lacked from S78 through S85 was a defenseman who could anchor the team, both defensively and offensively. This candidate has a full trophy case, starting with the Stolzschweiger in S78, three Labatte Trophies over S81, S82 and S84, and a Valiq in S84 as well. He is 5th in franchise history in goals with 191, first in franchise assists with 505 (second place has 381), and first in franchise points with 696. He also holds the franchise record for playoff assists and points, with 89 and 126 respectively. His points total fell just 3 points short of tying the legendary Scotty Campbell in the playoffs. The user behind this player has been an absolute blessing to have around the locker room. He has served as my AGM for 5 seasons, helping me navigate the ins and out of the cap and giving me sound advice for roster moves and trades. Despite having a busy life and juggling the birth of his son, he's still found time to spend with us in the Moscow LR and has joined us to continue our gaming nights. He's been steadfast in his loyalty to the team and to me, and his patience through our struggles has been greatly appreciated. While he doesn't plan to recreate in the VHL for a little bit to take a short break, I know that when he returns, the league will be blessed with yet another phenomenal player. Whichever team is able to draft him will be extremely fortunate, and I can just hope that it will be us again. Please congratulate our second candidate and VHL HOF lock: D - Hard Markinson - @STZ --- Congratulations to both, and I hope you stick around the LR and continue to stay in touch. Wishing both of you the best in your sim league and irl lives, and I hope that we can team up again at some point in the future! (Obligatory @Beketov tag to add these banners to Moscow's retirement thread)
  4. Maybe I'll record a podcast on the way home today, just for you Thunder

I think Dil deserves a 2 week TPE ban
  6. Hi, it's me! We received word that one of our GMs, @Moon, was getting poached from us to do amazing things in the VHL. Congratulations to him, and we wish him the best of luck in his new position as the Toronto GM. We had some great interviews for the last set of VHLM GM openings, and we kept a couple candidates on our short list in case this situation came up. We're very fortunate to have a quality candidate in the wings who graciously accepted this last minute position. Without further ado, please welcome the new Ottawa Lynx GM: We wish him the best in his endeavors in the VHLM, and hope that he too is not stolen from us before the season starts!
  7. Wow, might be one of my favorites from you yet. Insane work
  8. Obviously Ruutu's situation was deemed excessive and his punishment subsequently reduced, but are suspensions/bans not reactive? No one is walking around suspending people before they've done anything, so there is no proactive action outside the CoC existing to tell people not to be assholes to each other. Ruutu was suspended after making a comment, and you were suspended after your comments that got escalated to moderators for action. Those situations are great examples of reactive punishments. In Ruutu's case, it was obvious that there was an error that affected the punishment given and it was rectified. I don't know if any communication with Ruutu occurred after the decision to reduce the punishment, but I'd hope there was. In your case, I don't think many people (and honestly, myself included) felt your punishment was unjust. Even now with the information that the EFL may or may not have spoken to you about similar behavior, I still don't think anything should have changed. In hindsight we can look back and see that Kachur/Horcrux played a role in escalating the situation beyond something that could have been resolved between the involved parties, but at the end of the day there was still a case brought to moderators that merited some form of discipline, which was a suspension. Personally, I think that was fair but I expect you'll disagree so we don't need to debate it. I can see the merit of this, but mainly in theory and not practice. I'm not privvy to the details, but I'm fairly certain there are users who have racked up a multitude of warnings for actions that never resulted in suspension/bans. What happens when your mentorship or hand-holding doesn't go anywhere? It's the internet, I don't expect moderators to be parents or teachers, that's a bit ridiculous. If rules are broken, there is punishment. I'm fairly impatient so maybe it's good I'm not a moderator, but I certainly wouldn't be giving people 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th chances and hoping they change their behavior. Other people feel the impact of each of those infractions no? Without revealing things that will get me yelled at, we've certainly criticized, discussed and argued various moderation actions internally. I've seen processes change and constructive feedback has been received and implemented. That's one of the nice things (that some of the mods certainly don't love) about being a commissioner, that I have the ability to push back on things in constructive and private ways, especially when concerns are brought to me privately. Going after their credentials (we're really comparing resumes for a sim league?), using aggressive imagery, painting them to be power-tripping sycophants, all just seems immature and also not worthy for someone who wants to become a moderator. Respectfully, you've got to pay a bit more attention if you think that the current RGB group and the moderator team all think the same ways lol. Only difference is that we're able to respect differences in opinions and consider different perspectives. Again I'm trying my best not to be disclosing private discussions so I'm sorry if this is all very vague. But it'd be pretty impossible to be providing different opinions and perspectives internally if I got kicked off staff for leaking shit lol. Someone higher up than myself can add details or examples of what I'm referring to if they feel it's appropriate, but I'd hope that my word means something at the least and can provide some reassurance.
  9. Against my better judgement I'm going to briefly reply to you in the thread, so apologies if this brings you back when you planned to drop this or incites something again. I'm not the "top" you refer to here since I have no involvement in punishment or moderation, so this isn't an official stance, just my own thoughts after seeing everything play out over the last week or so. I listened to your podcast in its entirety (until the questions portion at the end when the moderation topic seemed to be over), but I will admit I am not a podcast guy. I don't listen to them unless I'm trying to fall asleep, they just don't grab my attention. But I tried my best to focus on what you said while I worked, and I did catch the general points and sound bites that Fong addressed in his response to you, so I feel like I've got the gist of your points. That being said, what specifically do you want to see change other than to fire Fong and hire you as the head mod? How would you even be different? Why should we overthrow a tenured moderator for someone who has been openly bitter about being punished by that moderator and his team? I mentioned in Moscow's LR after I listened to the podcast that I felt this was a very philosophical podcast, but no specific suggestions or constructive feedback that correlated to the VHL. You talked about inclusivity, but you didn't talk about how you would handle members that make comments that exclude others. You mentioned discipline vs punishment as a moderation tool, but you didn't say how you would change the current system to handle problematic behavior. I just don't see what your plea for change even is, other than as I stated, firing Fong and hiring you. Half this thread was animosity over how your own conduct was handled and how you were impacted. Wasn't that something better suited to address with moderators at the time of the punishment, or even in private at this time? I argue with Fong over plenty of stuff morally/ethically/philosophically but I like to think he's understood my perspectives when it comes to moderation since I try to present them as feedback instead of complaints. One is helpful, one is not. From a sim league/VHL perspective, I never see change happening over complaining and extreme, reactive "solutions." Identify and explain the issue, detail ways to improve and always expect compromise. Good luck

Can you specify the two picks in question please? Like which teams they belong to
  11. Nah, Acyd is a much better choice. I'm happy taking over improving the M right now
  12. S86 VHLM Dispersal Draft
  13. I didn't even read that tbh
  14. Don't worry folks who got scared, I'll make sure to transfer you guys over to NYA on the portal
  15. We did have a bit of a discussion around this, and honestly it comes down to a player making the decision for themselves. We could have just labeled them all as forwards and removed the uniqueness from Centers, or split them up into C and W and at least treated the positions as unique even though sometimes the two positions can intermingle. This way, a player who is a center can look at a team with 3 centers but 2 wingers and decide that they're fine to play on the wing if they'd like. Perhaps we'll add another line in the instructions stating that forwards can play either C or W regardless of position though. I think that should be implemented (like the team name is a link) but if it's not, I'll ask Dil to do it. I don't have a live site to test that out right now unfortunately.
  16. Hi, I am indeed a bro, and I listened to this - although half-attentively I will admit. I think that portal waivers being "not personal" is still a fair concern, but we got to a point where the waiver pitches themselves were lifeless and dull. It also felt like the burden of effort was on the GM's to a bit of an extreme point. No one seemed to really enjoy the process at that point. And yes, come back to being an M GM (or at least apply for the position). We've gotten a fair few members who heard the rumblings of this new system on the horizon who are thinking about going for the job now that it's focused on teaching and engaging and not just "be online 24/7." In terms of implementing it, Dil becoming a developer might be the only reason that this was implemented. I honestly don't know if Josh would have had the time to do this, so the concerns back in 2019 would have been perfectly valid (no personal touch + too hard to implement). I also don't think we can track metrics for team info clicks but I can find out. I'd play for you in the M if you were a GM. I doubt we expand anytime soon especially since we have defunct teams now. If anything, we'd slide VHLE teams back over to the VHLM. And you just said that lol. I assume sirens mean ambulance, every time.
