    Ted Doughty
Doughty is a defender who really just wants to be a princess. Some nights you can catch him trying on his wife's dresses to see what works best with his eyes. But enough about his cruel circumstances, he's a really decent guy on the point. He current leads all defenders in points, but is obviously not leading in shot blocks. Little do people know, he always finds a way to make the puck go right through him.

    Kol Mikaelson
Legend has it that Kol is actually related to a famous Spartan back in the old days. Currently leading the team in both points and hits, which makes him the complete package. Too bad he has no package himself.

    Kai Roberts
The triple crown himself. Kai has put up big numbers with 13 goals, 122 shots, 47 hits, and long walks on the beach. Joining the ever growing list of s49 players, Kai looks to standout by simply being better than Doughty, which is as easy said as it will be done.

    Joe Shenanigans
The latecomer who missed the first four games due to a bad case of European food, Joe has been very stellar on the ice despite very little training. He, too, looks to be better than Doughty, and has already done a lot more despite crapping his pants in half the games.

One could argue that the PT's don't actually create activity. Perhaps even drive them away knowing that they won't ever have a chance if they don't put in this extra effort.

I know I'm relatively new here, but I'd say the thing that has kept me active is seeing the game results, being on the same team as some cool people (obligatory f u, jala), and posting in the game threads. Activity comes from being around other good people. Retaining it comes from finding a good comfy range of minimum effort and maximum potential.

Why not, start from there and see what kind of effect it has on everything. Not too big thing to make it more strict after that

I think it's just a good way to keep members from burning out. Some people just can't put in all that effort every week after a player or two, and it helps keep them around. Plus if you combine it with Evan's idea they'd still be required to do something every once in a while.

All I know is I probably wouldn't have come back if welfare wasn't a thing. My weekly routine is most likely the Practice (good way to get involved), VHL Radio (easy weekly task), and the welfare. I think the welfare helps give just enough to be competitive, but definitely at a disadvantage.

As someone who isn't expecting to be a big name player on welfare I like the system. Allows me a chance to contribute even if it's at a slower pace.

Despite being the lowest ranked playoff team in the VHLM, the Royals are looking good. Recent acquisitions such as Shenanigans and Tsbagsuph-Diks, as well as the top priority in the over 40 TPE waivers list have put Bern's future in a brighter light. All that matters is making it to the playoffs, and Bern looks poised to make a good run by the time their team develops.

Bern fans surveyed around the world were asked about how the Royals were so much better than everybody else. Here are the top responses:

We have two of the top three centers in the league with Kol and Kai. A third member following this naming pattern would only raise racial concerns. Oslo may be in first, but only because @Merica snuck in some steroids and laxatives. The latter for pleasure. Shenanigans is the only person to win a fight in the league. Joe didn't realize the rest of the league was a bunch of sissies. Bratislava's computer generated goalies may only vary in size and rebound attributes, but they will still be caught sniffing @Banackock's underwear. @sterling may be our GM, but secretly he's a lost prince trying to find his home. The Royals were his way of shouting to the world, but no one would listen. Even in the VHLM, @Jala is still blocking less shots as a defender than @Bojo.
