  1. Thanks man I really appreciate that. everyone drop a like for @Advantage
  2. I would love to donate, but unfortunately I'm a high school student so....yeah....
  3. Wow! Thanks for all the questions! 1) I think all the teams have good jerseys but I love jerseys with a navy colour. Houston and Mississauga both have good jerseys. I would be happy to be drafted by any team but I would love to be with some other young guys and a good front office. 2) In the short term, I'm working on my Shooting, Passing, Defense, Puck Handling and Checking to become a Pure Scorer with the ability to hit and take the puck away. In the long term, I will become a more rounded player but still have the emphasis on shooting and become a better skater. 3) I don't really know a lot about the current VHL players so not now. 4) I would say salty. 5) The best kind of snack to have at midnight is a soft snack with not too much sugar. 6) I would probably turn into a dog, just to see what it is like to be a pet 7) Hot enough so that it has a bit of kick to it, but not hot enough to the point where your tongue burns off.
  4. I actually saw the VHL near the beginning of May in r/EA_NHL and thought it looked interesting. I joined a week ago and I've had a blast so you bet your ass I am staying active here.
  5. Hello VHL and VHLM Players and GMs! I will be doing a Q&A on this thread here! The questions can be from anybody! I will be answering any and all questions so if you want to ask anything just hit the quote button and drop your question down below!
  6. I will apply, I am good with schemes and line combinations.
  7. Welcome to this week's edition of the VHL Mock Draft! This week, we will be looking at the projected top five overall picks and evaluating them. PROJECTED PICKS: 1ST OVERALL: Marshall James Frost (LW out of Mississauga) @FrostBeard STRENGTHS: SCORING ABILITY: Frost is known for his lethal wrist shot and one timer and he is known for picking the corners when he shoots. SKATING: Frost is an incredible skater who has a high top speed, accelerates quickly and has great balance and coordination while airbourne. SIZE: Standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing in at 240 pounds, Frost is a presence when he is on the ice and he isn't afraid to use his body to get the puck. WEAKNESSES: DISCIPLINE: Frost a lot of times will take unprovoked penalties. In 22 games with the Hounds this year, he has recorded 28 Penalty Minutes. It's not like this issue is not fixable. FACEOFFS: This isn't important to a winger as much as it is to a Center, but Frost is weak in the faceoff circle. He should work on his faceoffs just in case he has to play Center in relief of injuries or a trade. 2ND OVERALL: Tyler Walker (D out of Saskatoon) @Advantage STRENGTHS: SKATING: Walker is a great skater and as a defensemen in the VHL you have to be. He can skate fast and use his agility to get away from opposing forwards. DEFENSE: Walker is a great lockdown defender. He has one of the highest +/- ratings in the VHLM this season with a +19. He can effectively stop the play at the blue line and never gives up an easy zone entry. SHOOTING: Walker has a hard, heavy slapshot but he can also shoot top shelf with an equally terrifying wrister. He would be a perfect fit on a VHL power play because of his creativity with the puck in all 3 zones. WEAKNESSES: HITTING: Walker is not very good at hitting. He can sometimes lose battles for the puck in the corner due to this but with the right coach at the VHL level this issue can easily be fixed. SIZE: Walker stands at 6 foot 2 inches and weighs 197 pounds. Not too small but it makes it a bit harder to block shots the smaller you are. 3RD OVERALL: Jacob Tonn (G out of Mississauga) @MexicanCow123 STRENGTHS: REBOUND CONTROL: Tonn is great at steering rebounds to the corner and being able to negate rebounds during odd man rushes GLOVE: Tonn has a great glove and rarely gives up a goal up high. His glove is in perfect position for the shot the attacker is trying to take. WEAKNESSES: SKATING: Tonn isn't a great skater when coming out to play the puck. A good coach would be able to work these habits out but if not fixed, it could lead to some dangerous situations when he plays the puck. SIZE: Tonn is very small for a VHL prospect standing only 5 foot 5 inches tall and weighing in at only 140 pounds make it hard on him as he has to move more in the net. 4TH OVERALL: Micah Adrienne (D out of Las Vegas) @Poptart STRENGTHS: LOCKDOWN ABILITY: Adrienne is a pure shutdown defender. He can play on any pair and is good at not letting the opponents enter the zone or pass the puck out of the corner on the power play. SIZE: Adrienne stands at 6 foot 6 inches and weighs 250 pounds which is great for a defensemen who loves to block shots. Don't be fooled though, he can still skate fast and effectively. PUCK HANDLING: Adrienne is a great puck moving defensemen as well. He can move the puck effectively from any area of the ice whether it be his own zone during a breakout or at the opposing blue line on the power play. Weaknesses: PASSING: Adrienne is not a very good passer. He often turns the puck over trying to pass it through the neutral zone. This can be worked out the VHL level but a coach should not turn this into a bad habit. DISCIPLINE: Adrienne sometimes takes unnecessary penalties such as hooks and trips trying to get the puck away from the opponent. 5TH OVERALL: Viktor Mjers (D out of Halifax) @InstantRockstar STRENGTHS: SKATING: Mjers is a great skater and is able to slice and dice his way through the neutral zone when he steps up with the puck. SHOOTING: Mjers has a hard, fast slapshot which is deadly accurate and can be used at even strength and on the power play. PUCK HANDLING: Mjers is great at handling the puck all over the ice and is able to use his quick skating to either steal the puck or pin the puck in the corner. WEAKNESSES: SIZE: Mjers stands 6 foot 1 inches and weighs in at 188 pounds. His frame makes it a bit more difficult for him to win puck battles in the corner or to block shots. CHECKING: Mjers isn't very good at hitting and often when he attempts to step up in the neutral zone to prevent a zone entry, it will lead to an odd man rush. His hitting can be improved upon once he reaches the VHL level.
  8. Thank you for providing the opportunity!
  9. I would love to GM for Team Canada.
  10. Patrik Laine Right Wing | 6' 5" | 205 lb. | Age: 18 | Tampere, Finland #29 for the Houston Bulls (VHLM) Patrik Laine grew up in Tampere, Finland and knew he wanted to play professional hockey from a young age. Laine started training from the young age of 3 years old to play hockey. He would constantly be out late at night playing hockey with other boys around his neighbourhood. When Laine reached grade 7, he had to make a choice of either staying in school and getting a regular job or he could focus on playing hockey in his attempts to one day playing the VHL. Laine thought hard about this decision for a couple of months. Laine ended up choosing to drop out of school at the young age of 12 to focus solely on his dream of play professional hockey. Laine started playing with the Tampere U-16 team at the tender age of 13 and put up an astonishing 45 points in 16 games. After that great performance, he was moved up to Tampere's U-18 team where he would proceed to put up 26 points in 27 games and 3 points in 3 playoff games. For each of the next 3 years with the Tampere-U18 team, Laine would average a point per game in each season with the team. Even with this string of impressive years, Laine was still under the radar and wasn't even projected to be a VHLM prospect. However, at the age of 16, Laine would receive a 1-year contract offer from Tappara and he wouldn't waste his chance. in 46 regular season games with Tappara, Laine put up 17 goals, 16 assists and was a +6. In the playoffs, his performances would get better. In 18 playoffs games, Laine would record an astonishing 10 goals, 5 assists and a +1 rating on his way to leading Tappara to a championship. Laine's stock didn't boost that much, but his year was good enough to get him invited to the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship for that year. Laine absolutely went off at the World Juniors, recording 7 goals, 5 assists and a +4 rating in 10 games on his way to being crowned tournament MVP and leading Finland to the gold medal for the second time in 3 years. Despite this, Laine went undrafted in the VHLM draft, but that didn't matter as just a couple of weeks later he would receive offers from multiple VHLM clubs. He decided to sign a 1-year 1.5 Million dollar contract with the Houston Bulls. Laine's goal now is to make it into the VHL, whether it means being drafted or being signed as a UFA.
  11. For my first time making a player card, I don't think this turned out too bad.
  12. While the top prospects for the Season 72 VHL Draft are pretty much set in stone, there is one prospect that is the new kid on the block and has to prove himself, and his name is Patrik Laine. HOUSTON BULLS - RW #29 - Patrik Laine Patrik Laine is a skilled winger out of Tampere, Finland. He is dangerous all over the ice due to his skill. He has a lethal wrist shot and one timer, which makes him lethal on the power play and he is great defensively. Not bad for a guy weighing in at 205 pounds. Laine's most lethal asset beside his shot is his size. He stands 6'5 which means he can use his big frame to block shots, make hits and provide a screen in front of the net. Despite having all these tools at his disposal, Laine's road to the VHLM was not an easy one for the 18 year old. As a junior hockey player, Laine was a point a game player for the U-16 Tappara team back in Finland. In the S71 IIHF World Juniors, Laine had a tournament to remember. He led the tournament in goals with 7, points with 13 and plus-minus with a +8 on his way being named tournament MVP and leading Finland to a gold medal. Despite this, he went undrafted but received plenty of contract offers to play in the VHLM a few weeks later. Laine decided to sign a 1 year, 1.5 Million dollar contract with the Houston Bulls, where he should be playing on the 1st line along with Sidney Patrick Crosby and Riley Walker. So far in 2 games with the Houston Bulls, Laine has a 1 goal, 0 assists and has a plus-minus of -2. He is expected to stay with Houston until his contract expires at the end of S73. Draft Potential: If Laine continues to develop, he could be a 1st Line right winger at the VHL level. With his lethal shot and big frame at the age of 18, he still has plenty of games ahead of him. Laine both on and off the ice however, has a great personality. He is known for being a leader on the ice and setting by example, but off the ice he enjoys the media attention and loves to have fun with the fans, coaches and teammates. However, he is also very professional and loves to have interviews with the media. Interview with Patrik Laine: While in the process of writing this article, we had a chance to sit down and have an interview with Laine. We ask him the following questions: Do you think you have the potential to score 50 goals in a season? Laine: I think I can train my shot to be able to score 50 in a season, but I won't just shoot, shoot, shoot for 50 goals. On the ice, I make sure I make the best decisions for the team whether it means I get the goal or my teammates score the goals. Whichever one helps us win more. How does it feel being able to play for the Houston Bulls? Laine: I didn't expect to be playing in the VHLM this time last year, but I have an opportunity and I can't waste it so I just gotta play my best hockey for the team. We have a great team, great coaches and a great front office and for my first time being in a professional hockey organization, it is an absolute dream. Are you nervous about the upcoming draft? How do you feel in terms of your chances to get drafted by a VHL team? Laine: I would be lying if I didn't say I was at least a little nervous about the draft. I don't pay attention to the draft rankings because for me, I know what I am capable of on and off the ice and I just need to play my game to show the VHL GMs what they could miss out on if they don't draft me. Where do you think you would fit on a VHL roster? Laine: I wouldn't really care where I fit on the roster, whether it is 4th line or 1st line. Of course, I would love to play on the 1st line at the VHL level but if it is best for the team for me to play on the 2nd line, I would be willing to do that to help the team win. Okay last question. If you could get drafted by any VHL team, where would you go. Laine: That's a tough one. I would be happy to play anywhere but if I had to choose one, I would play on the Helsinki Titans. Very close to where I grew up in Tampere, Finland and it was the team I grew up cheering for so it would be a dream come true to play there. 16. I have an announcement to make. I first of all would like to thank each of the GMs who sent me an offer and to the players that reached out to me. I had a lot of time to think about where I want to go and what I want to do. All this being said, I have made my decision. I have chosen to sign with the Houston Bulls.
