If I was commish for one day, I would follow the tradition of other Swiss at the top of a sport like René Fasel, Sepp Blatter and Gianni Infantino.
 
Which of course means to turn a sport into a money-printing machine with little to no morals.
 
As first order of the day I would implement the VHLA (VHL Africa). The fact, that overnight there were 50 Million Dollars more on my Swiss bank account would be of course a completely unrelated coincidence.
 
The TPE range would be 1000+ and the VHL would be hard capped at 1000 and if players would want to play beyond 1000 TPE they need to join a VHLA team.
 
The VHLA would not draft players but would bid for them like in European football. And here are the eight VHLA franchises (in no particular order):
 
 

Pretoria Cheetahs
This Southafrican team would be allowed (as their team name suggests) to circumvent the VHLA financial fairplay rules without consequences (and thereby make it much more effective than the UEFA equivalent, where everyone can do so). The first GM would be Olaf 'Ollie the Goalie' Kolzig.
 
 

Alexandria Librarians
This Egyptian franchise would be mainly consist of bookworms and nerds with the physical prowess of spavined worms. Which of course will make them the perennial bottomfeeder team. Their first GM would be Mo Salah (for no specific reason).
 
 

Kibo Peaks
Tanzania's first icehockey team would play on the Lake Victoria. For that purpose, they will pour as much liquid nitrogen into the biggest lake in Africa as it takes to freeze it over (take that Winter Classic). As the Lake Victoria is believed to be the source of the Nile, which in turn is the river mostly associated with Egypt, this puts them into eternal (and one sided) animosity with the Librarians. The first GM will be Chris Nielsen.
 
 

Lagos Oilers
The team based in the petroleum-rich Nigeria would be the equivalent of the Edmonton Oilers. Being able to afford the best player in the world but yet still choke in every playoffs. Rumun Ndur will be appointed as the first GM
 
 

 Antananarivo Lemuriformes
Named after the omni-present primates, the team name does neither instill fear nor respect and they are considered a push-over. This is not helped by their vastly incompetent GM King Julien, often maliciously named 'Malagasy Milbury'.
 
 

Brazzaville Braggers
The franchise name of this team was chosen to spite the DR Kongo who does not have a VHLA team (their offer was just better). This was also the only reason why they applied for the VHLA. Since they do not really care about their team, the GM position is vacant at the moment.
 
 

Carthage Elephants
This franchise has their stadium in Tunis (former Carthage) and is an up and coming team, not least due to its GM Hannibal Barca who brings a plethora of experience playing hockey in Mississauga.
 
 

Yamassoukrou Eagles
This team from the Côte d'Ivoire is still in the process of hiring players and staff. They are very eager to make this new sport a success in their country. Their GM Ronan Lavelle is working the phones hard to build up a respectable team. Why Ronan you ask? Well, someone mixed up the Irish flag with the Ivory Coast one and the rest is a (drunken) (Hi)story.
 
There you have it, the mischiev I could wreak if I ever became Commish... let's hope I never do.

Not gonna bother with a members tag on this, if you see it then great, you will be rewarded for that. If you don’t then…. Well why am I writing this because if you don’t see it how can you read this part?
 
Anyway, today marks 5717 days (that’s 15 years, 7 months, and 26 days if you’re curious) since the VHL opened its doors. What a random number you might say, why does that matter? Well if I do the math, and I have, I was born 5717 days before the start of the VHL. Given that I joined on day one and have been here ever since that means today marks the official day that I have been in the VHL just as long as I was outside of it. Is that a stupid thing to celebrate? Probably but that won’t stop me; so please let me indulge in a bit of sentimentality for a moment.
 
When the VHL started I had not yet completed high school, I had never had a girlfriend, hell I had never kissed a girl. I was a lonely nerd turning to the internet to find something to do; and I found it. The VHL was not my first sim league, wasn’t even the first one I joined ran by the people who ran it, but it was the first that felt different and felt like it had a good chance of surviving which so few at that point had done. I found a community here. I cannot honestly say that everything went perfectly or that my start in the VHL was without fault; I very nearly left for good within 2 months, but I stayed. I have now not only finished high school but university and going on 10 years working post-schooling. I have now not only had a steady relationship but a wife and two children, a life. All the while the VHL has been there, constantly evolving with the times sure but present. Over 5 years ago I took up the mantel of commissioner. I did it not because I thought I was necessarily the best person for the job but because I thought the league needed something, it was in trouble and I didn’t want to see it fail. I like to think that in these 5 years of growth I have at least stalled that failure.
 
5717 days likely means nothing to any of you, just as that paragraph likely means nothing to any of you, but it means something to me. This league, this place, this community has been a standard in my life for longer than most anything else. I’m not going anywhere right now, that’s not what this is, but I did want to mark the occasion because this league does mean a lot to me.
 
So if you’ve made it this far feel free to take 5 uncapped TPE for your troubles, on me. I’m not sure the insane total I’ve had over the years (probably over 10k by now) so 5 for everyone that I bored with this story should suffice as a thank you for being my weird extended internet family.

1. I didn’t really pay attention to the draft, but I trust the Mother Ferker to do his job good. 
 
2. 100 points, and win a cup.
 
3. VHL.com graphics, I can do pretty much any stupid shit I want as long as it’s VHL related and I can get rewarded for it.
 
4. Probably podcasts. I refuse to do them because I’m self-conscious about my voice.
 
5. Probably, though some bots tend to be legends for absolutely no reason so we could let it ride.
 
6. Consistent earning. I probably would have gone higher if I was more dedicated to getting my graphics made each week instead of bumming welfare as often as I did.

As my last graphic dedicated to Leonard's time in San Diego, I decided that it was a fitting time to say goodbye.  If you love something, you need to set it free.  I attempted to re-create the movie poster from one of my favorite movies as a kid.  Let's see if I did a good enough job for you to guess what it is!  It shouldn't be too hard! lol

Assistant Captain: Hannibal Barca @DreMin15  Barca was Mississauga's second round pick from S86 and was tied for the team lead in goals last season with Logan Foley. Barca is a strong locker room presence and opted to stay down in the VHLM for another season and it would be unsurprising if he lead the team in points this season. 
 
Assistant Captain: Ellis Woolfenden @D3X Woolfenden was the Hounds' first round pick in the S87 draft. Despite being a lower TPE player than what was available, Mississauga decided pull the trigger on him with our third overall. He had 68 points last season with Miami, and with a season of development should reach a far higher number in S87.
 
Captain: Austin Goulet: @Tuchy Goulet was a relatively unknown player at the time of his draft, being selected in the 4th round, 41st overall. The decision to draft him paid off in spades however, with Goulet producing both on the ice and off last season. He was second on the team with 97 points and a notable locker room presence.

Classic indeed... I am not sure whether the blade is in compliance with the rules though... Hannibal gets bonus points for the proper helmet, though. I love how you are pulling through with the Hannibal Barca theme, always a treat to look at them.

First off, great job all with the charity auction and what has been raised thus fair with the donation drive! We’re going to be tallying everything up soon but I would wager we’ve done very well from what I’ve seen and it should be a large donation to some great causes yet again! Raffle entries wrap up tomorrow and I’ll be doing the draw for those prizes a little after Christmas most likely.
 
Now to the matter at hand. Obviously myself and the other members of the @Simmer crew don’t take a lot of vacations or breaks. Daily sims are honestly one of the great things that sets the VHL apart.l, however we are still human and it is still Christmas, playoffs or not. For that reason I would like to point out that there will be no sims on the 25th or 26th so the simming team can spend some time with family instead of you all, as much as we love you. I hope you all can understand.
 
So, sims will run tomorrow and Saturday but will only resume on Tuesday after that regardless of what stage the playoffs are at.

1. Absolutely, I believe this group is just going through a rough patch and is going to get it together.

4. The Quebec Flag. Simple but perfect.
 
5. Hockey IQ. Knowing when to do certain things on the ice like make passes, pinch, back check, etc.
 
6. History. Only class I ever managed to get a perfect score in a class in. I’m also a huge history nerd, as my player Hannibal Barca would indicate.
